Barely got to eat it since my toddler loved it so much. 14 Vodka Pesto - 3/5. Solid pesto and sauce topping. But the base was thick and soft. There many great restaurants in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. However, many of them can be pompous and arrogant. It is sometimes hard to find a place in this area that has a laid back atmosphere that lacks pretension. One of those places is Enoteca. It is a small restaurant and wine bar with a cozy and friendly atmosphere. First, the food is delicious. I ordered the polpette alla napoletana (meat balls), charred Brussels sprouts and arancini as appetizers, the pappardelle bolognese and spicy vodka gnocchi as main entrees, a hot honey pizza and tiramisu for dessert. I liked everything I tried, but my favorite dish of the night was the spicy vodka gnocchi. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked and the sauce was great. The sauce was just spicy enough for you known it was there, and it has a great flavor. Ask your waiter to add spicy sausage to the dish, you'll love it. The pappardelle bolognese is also a must order and it's perfectly al dente. Second, I loved the ambience. The decor is rustic and they turn the lights low to create the perfect intimate atmosphere. Like I said above, I loved the unpretentious, cozy and friendly atmosphere. Third. The service was very good. My waiter was very nice; and food can out hot and timely. First and foremost if I could describe the outside seating at this restaurant in one word it would be ambiance! The lighting, heaters, and setting is absolutely Perfect for a date night if you want to impress your gf or bf! The food was soo delicious and Julianna was our server. How this place has 4+ stars is a mystery to me. Positives: The staff was pleasant & accommodating. The atmosphere is nice. The fall salad was actually pretty good, as was the mushroom crostini. The plumbing works. The rest: The drinks were uninspired & lacking. Unbalanced & basically not tasty. The prosciutto crostini was horrible, or at least the prosciutto was. It was hard, thick, tough & inedible. Once removed, the remainder was tasty & balanced. Shrimp linguine was flavorless, burrata was overwhelmed by an inordinate amount of pesto. Overall, yuck. They have great happy hour options, and the space filled up quickly--which is always a good sign! We started with two appetizers: the burrata and the bacon-wrapped dates with goat cheese. The dates were definitely our favorite--so flavorful and delicious--I'll absolutely be ordering them again next time. For our entrees, my friend had the gluten-free pasta with pesto, and I went with the bolognese. Both dishes were fresh, tasty, and served in very generous portions. We actually had enough to take home leftovers! To finish off the meal, we shared the pistachio cheesecake. It was incredibly creamy and the perfect sweet ending--highly recommend. We decided to make reservations here after reading the good reviews, plus it was just down the block from our hotel. It's a very small place, quaint and dark, but lit with candlelight. There was a small vase with flowers, plus candles on each table. Both of the servers we encountered were very nice. We ordered a few things to share. We started with carciofi alla Giudia- which was fried Artichokes with a citrus aioli. We also ordered Crostini de Parma, which was crostini topped with ricotta, caramelized apple, prosciutto de Parma, and crispy rosemary. We also ordered Burrata with roasted tomatoes, garlic condition, pesto, and olive oil with toasted baguettes. I suggest dipping the bread into the pesto (I wish it was thicker, but the flavor was nice). We decided to get the potato Gorgonzola pizza because it sounded interesting. It was good, but I wish it had some contrast in flavors, the flavors were sort of flat and rich. I wish we had ordered a pasta instead. We enjoyed all of the appetizers, and I ordered a delicious cucumber Collins to drink. I would eat here again just to try some of the other interesting items on the menu. read more

We were in town for a conference and to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. I booked us a table here because we wanted to be a bit away from the downtown tourist area. The food was 10/10 amazing. We started with the bread and olives along with some of the summer cocktails. I had the gnocchi and my girlfriend the pesto. Amazing. But hands down the best was the service. Lovely interior, but we had decided to do take-out. Food was hot and ready upon arrival, with pick-up in the back of the restaurant. The pizzas were fantastic. Flavorful and thin, the pizzas satiated our craving and left us without feeling greasy. We had the tiramisu for dessert, and hence 4 stars instead of 5. The ratio of cream layer to cake was very off, with the cream being overwhelming and also not as light as most good tiramisus tend to be... almost gelatinous. It needed more liquor as well, and more ladyfingers. Honestly, I'd suggest a new recipe, unfortunately. But, the pizza and rest of the food here NEVER disappoint, and it is a staple for family in the area. Absolutely recommend Eduardo's, just don't get the tiramisu. read more
