So I grew up eating Edwardo's fairly often, as there used to be a restaurant on 57th street in Hyde Park. Once I discovered there is still a place only 20 minutes away in Indiana, I had to make the trip. Getting there was fairly easy and the lot was large enough for several cars. Upon walking in we were greeted by a host and shown where to sit. Yall the dining area could have used an update and a vacuum. There were napkins and small bits of food all over the floor and the upholstery on the benches and chairs could have used cleaning. My sister was so bothered by how dirty the carpeted floor was she mentioned there was a vacuum near the bathroom, lols. Anyway, our server was really nice and while we were set to order a deep dish pizza, she let us know the restaurant would close in about an hour. Yall I googled the place and made sure it would be open later because, I mean...we crossed state lines. We settled on a salad (it was ok) and thin crust pies. They were good, nothing to drive to another state for, but good. I did enjoy the crispy chip things they gave us, it really took me back to my 57th street days! Overall I would probably order takeout and a deep dish, but maybe skip the dine in until they can get a manual vacuum on that carpet during dining hours. read more

The deep dish pizza there is top notch. It put Giordano's to shame. They have terrific lunch specials that include a small deep dish or thin crust pizza a salad and a drink. The service is always great. We've never had a bad server and have always been satisfied. We've never gotten a bad pizza from there. They could stand to update the restaurant for sure. The bathrooms are pretty gross. It has look the same for as long as I can remember. They tend to only seat on one side of the restaurant, and the other side of the restaurant is empty most of the time. There are a ton of pick ups from there. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars for my visit here the other night. I say 3.5 On a Saturday evening around 6:30pm the entire right side of the dining room was packed. They were not allowing seating in the left dining room. There was one family of 4 waiting ahead of us and they were told it was a 45 min wait so they left. There was a booth and one table open that jus needed to be bused. The girl at the front said they didn't have anyone to clean the tables so there would like a wait. Per my moms request we waited. We were sat down by the hostess and given a complimentary basket of some kind of garlic chip or something. They only had one waitress working the floor and it took her quite some time to acknowledge us. When she finally did she said she would come back soon. We saw her running around the dining room and then I had to get her attention to bring us some waters. At this point I was admittedly ready to leave. Again, per moms request we stayed. She came back pretty quickly and took our order. We ordered garlic bread and a house salad for appetizers. The garlic bread was amazing. Soft center and crunchy sides. The small house salad was the perfect portion for one person. We got their small stuffed pizza aka deep dish with mushrooms and sausage. It took 43 min from order to table. No complaint there. It was actually quicker than expected. The server plated our slices for us. PIzza was hot. You could see the steam coming off of it and the cheese was super stringy and perfect. We both took fork and knife to it and had the hardest time cutting a piece. It took a lot of sawing. The pizza didn't really taste like anything. Not necessarily bad just no flavor to the sauce. I finally gave up and just used my hands on the rest of the slice. I had 2 slices total. There was a young man at the counter when we left. He didn't say anything. After we walked out the door my mom commented that he could have said bye, thank you, something. I decided on 3 starts because they need more servers, especially on a busy Saturday night. That poor girl was waiting on 30 people by herself. Despite the lack of waitstaff the food came out quick but the pizza was bland. It was kind of just a mediocre experience. My favorite go to for decades! This place arguably has some of the best stuffed Chicago style pizza in the region. The ingredients are always super fresh tasting, never too salty or greasy. An enthusiastic 5 stars to this place. I've never had Chicago style deep dish before. Popped into this place with my co-worker, and we were sat at Linda's station. First off, Linda was so incredibly kind, I just want to acknowledge that. We told her it was our first time, and she gave us a lot of recommendations. I've been going to Edwardo's for nearly 30 years, ever since I was a little kid, at once point there was a location in Olympia Field just a block away, one in Hyde Park and another in Homewood. I even recall when they would sell their Edwardo's branded knifes for cutting the pizza. The Deep Dish Spinach Pizza is their award winning favorite, crispy flaky crust topped with aged cheese and spinach and finished with their amazing sauce. This pizza screams Chicago! There use to be a lot more locations, but that doesn't stop us from driving over 45 minutes to pick up their deep dish pizza, it's well worth it every time. read more

Edwardo's is definitely one of my top 5 pan pizza places in Chicagoland. Unfortunately, they are harder and harder to find. At least two of the ones I used to go to are now closed. So whenever I see one around lunchtime, I'm drawn to them. I like everything about their pan pizzas. They put lots of tomatoes on top and even their personal-sized pizzas are good. (Some other pan pizzas don't translate well into a smaller size like Edwardo's pizza does.) If you're a pan pizza lover like I am, and you're in the Munster area around lunch, skip the fast food burgers. Took about an hour and a half for our order which was a bit longer than we had expected after a long day so by the time we finally got it home we were all pretty hungry. The crust is kind of crispy but it has to be to support all that cheese! Then they put a ton of cheese with some spinach on top of the crust and then they put the sauce on the top. Went here today with some co-workers. Pizza was good. Service was good until we went to check out. Noticed an attitude from the hostess. My friend asked her what the problem seems to be. She proceeded to start screaming at us and telling us that we were talking about the waitress even called me a b****. I was literally stunned. I have no idea what prompted that other than the fact that the girl is very mentally unstable. I have been patronizing this business for 25 years and I will be sure to tell everyone I know do not go to this establishment because they like to hire people that are horrible working in the public. I know it needs to hold in all those ingredients but the crust shouldn't try to break a tooth! Okay maybe not that bad but it is hard. That went for the thin as well as we ordered both. My husband likes to make sure I get my thin when I can! They serve beer and wine (yay!) so that also made my night. It is a small place with an older decor but who cares as long as the food is decent and it's clean. I would go back and ask for a less done version if possible. The ingredients are really good.
