Edwards has an exceptional selection of fresh, smoked and frozen meats. When it comes to meat, I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for. You can certainly buy meat cheaper at other stores, like supermarkets, but it is NOT the same product. Edwards has product quality that grocery store meat cannot approach. If cost is a concern, focus on 4-6oz per person. Quality meat will satisfy you more than the factory-farm stuff at the grocery store. Going to Edwards is like going to a candy store. There are choices aplenty to inspire the home chef. Wow this is a great place. Worth the drive to BFE, this fantastical meatporium and so much more! The prices are fair, the selection is top quality and massive. Bacon nirvana, I love the applewood smoked. And the cooked BBQ spareribs are magical. I actually saw a winking elf after my first bite. Fantastic!!!! The sausage is great. We've tried 3 different flavors, all great taste with low fat fillers. Don't over cook them. Bacon wrapped filet, great beef flavor, its what we are having for Christmas dinner. They also have large freezer filling packages. We are going to order one soon after the first of the year. I'll be meat shopping only a few times a year from now on. Also, there are all types of rubs, seasonings, and speciality foods. The cost of meats are just a bit higher than grocery stores but well worth it. SO........ If you are tired of grocery store meat which I think pretty much sucks and overpriced try Edwards. After reading Ashley B's review I was totally sold on coming here. I really love supporting local butchers more than the Grocery Stores (they're good for some things). I will drive completely out of my way for places that I love and I think I would for Edwards Meats. To give you an idea I live in Stapleton and would make the trip to seek out favorite items here. With that said, these days I'm a girl on a budget. Did you know money doesn't grow on trees? Who knew? Anyway, the aroma gets you right as you walk in the door. The smell of wood chips, different varieties. All those recipes that call for apple or cedar wood chips, look no further you can come here and I guarentee you can follow the recipe verbatum. I had a whole lot of fun perusing the entire store. The store contains: - A small variety of produce to the left when you enter the front (a little pricey) - A whole array of frozen meats, half duck, whole duck, homemade meat balls, pre-cooked or raw, and any kind of game meat you can imagine - Cold cuts, cheese and meat - Seafood counter selling great looking quality salmon, tilapia and the such as well as lobster tails - Meat counter, every red meat you could ever desire, chicken, and stuffed chicken concoctions for us single people that don't want to cook for 5 just for 1 - A nice variety of pre-made things like macaroni salad and the like This place can really get a cook going. I could spend hours just looking around and deciding if I could reorginize my refrigerator/freezer to accomodate my findings. You know we all over stock and do the mental reorganizing - I got it from my Mom - it's genetic. LOL. I ended up with a provolone and asparagus stuffed chicken breast and a bag of their homemade raw meatballs. This is absolutely the best place to buy meat in the Denver area. Price is not an issue for us, quality and flavor is. Edwards come through every time. We have put their meats up against WF and Tony's. There is no competition. What do we buy? Meat sticks (many flavors), hams, whole smoked racks of ribs (mmmmmmmmmmmm), meatballs (omg, they are so damn good), pork chops, filets (bacon wrapped), bacon, sausages, and various ground meats. We also once bought burger patties stuffed with blue cheese too. You can get a whole or half cooked pig even! This place is simply glorious. A great butcher shop. Reminds me of when I was a kid and butchers were a real profession... and, NOT like the current mass-produced pre-packaged mystery-meat in the supermarkets. Service - 5 stars Everyone was exceedingly helpful and knowledgeable. Beef - 5 stars We've enjoyed the bacon-wrapped filet mignons for years. We ask them to add their house marinade (soy-based) and vacuum seal for us. You gotta try this! Soooo tender! Sausages - 4 to 5 stars Bought a bunch of styles this visit. There were at least a dozen more styles to choose from. All were very well-made. Here's our personal take: * German - OK, but a bit plain compared to the rest. * Smoked German - terrific meat & spice flavors. Like Kielbasa meets Corned Beef. * Smoked German Red - Pretty good, but the casing was a touch thick for us. * Veal - very smooth texture and meaty flavor. * Italian - very spicy and excellent fennel flavor. Would make an awesome Italian Sausage Sandwich with some robust tomato sauce. * Smoked Elk & Cheese - excellent and very flavorful (a bit pricier than the others, but hey it's Elk.) * Chicken Apple - OMG! This was THE best chicken sausage we've ever had. A perfect smooth grind & texture, not too fatty & the apple flavor balanced wonderfully. Darn, getting myself hungry again for them! My favorite butcher shop in the state. Well priced and a selection bigger than you can imagine.

I don't have to have prime or choice every time I buy a hunk of beef. Nor do I need pork that is the freshest available (read was just oinking a moment ago) all the time. But for those occasions that I do want something good (which is the equivalent in butcher-speak to pricey), I know where to go. Now good sausage is a different matter. I have to have very tasty sausages and other tube steak type items. If the sausage is fresh stuff without all the nitrates/nitrites, well that's a good thing too. Their frozen and smoked stuff here does have preservatives in them though so be forewarned. My taste has outgrown Sigman's, Bar None, Oscar Meyer and most of the other supermarket offerings (I still like Boulder Sausage products) but I haven't gotten around to trying everything here yet. So basically Edward's fulfills two very important functions for me. Now while they do carry a lot of cures, rubs, Q sauces, and even hardwood charcoal and briquettes, I generally concoct my own potions and buy my charcoal from cheaper sources. If you're a shop in one stop for Q supplies kinda person then this place will work for you. FYI The guy with all the answers about the meat, fat, and spice content of the prepared or semi-prepared meats has a cool Irish accent so with all the POP adverts in the store for corned beef and bangers and such, I think they have your Saint Pat's day foodstuffs covered. read more

I can't believe it took me this long to try Edwards -- now I won't go anywhere else for carnivorous comestibles. Previously I relied on Marczyk's, but Edwards has a much larger variety (beef heart, anyone?) and the quality is excellent. Fresh ground lamb? Check. Meaty lamb shanks? Check. House-made andouille? Check. Skin-on duck breast? Check. Applewood smoked bacon? Check. I agree with others that their limited grocery selection is "bodega-priced" -- just fine if you need to buy a single lemon or potato, but not the place to buy your weekly haul. I don't know where to start. Just try it (all) for yourself. Their sausages are ridiculously good. Do yourself a favor and try the pork and leek (either breakfast or dinner style). Last time I counted, there were 7 kinds of bacon available. You know a place is serious about food when they have choices of duck fat. Good stop for last-minute dinner; teriyaki marinated sirloin is always a hit. Best jerky in town. Attentive, knowledgeable staff. I love this place and if you like meat, you will too. read more

REVIEW FROM A PALEO/KETO FOLLOWER: Came in to this place last night, about ten minutes to close and picked up their homemade jerky and braunschweiger (the label says no nitrates and that it is made from pork that was raise without the use of antibiotics or hormones) which is great. I find that people (like myself) are willing to pay higher prices for quality products, but we want to know where our meat was raised and what they ate. I would have made a much larger purchase had Edwards had the sourcing information for their meats and bones. I asked the cashier and she just said "I have no clue" a better answer would have been to ask someone who might know, just my two cents. I found that I was disappointed in the lack of ingredient labeling on the jerky products, however the jerky I did purchase (jalapeño) was EXCELLENT. It was spicy enough it made my finger tips burn! Yes I will return, and if I can find out where the meat comes from, I may consider purchasing their freezer packs. read more

I love this place! The employees are friendly and the prices are reasonable for most stuff. We decided to start making our own beef jerky. They have a cut of meat they recommend specifically for jerky, and they will cut it for you. It was reasonable at approximately $6 a pound. The seasonings they sell for making jerky are reasonable, as they can season up to 15 pounds. I'm really excited to get started with that! They also sell beef jerky in small packages. You can choose the price you want to spend, and they have a lot of different options. The venison was actually quite good (I've never had it before). I look forward to going back and trying different cuts of meats and just trying new and different items. read more

Meat. Meatiest meaty meat-meat. I love this place. It's where I go to get the steaks for Valentine's day, where my hubby goes to get the stuff for Irish Breakfast, where we go when we HAVE to have prime, beautiful, aged, gorgeous steaks or something really extraordinary. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is, whoa! You can easily spend all your pocket money for the month here. The prices are, to me, a little high. Special-occasion prices. But you DO get what you pay for, and the service is pretty helpful, and no matter what you want, they probably have it, either fresh or frozen. I couldn't afford to shop here for all my meat (for the day-to-day, try Wheatridge Poultry and Meats) but again, for that time you want something really great, really mind-blowing, go to Edwards. read more

I've been going to Edwards for years. Great meat selection and a great store. I went there a couple days ago and the older guy behind the counter was just an a$$. I will chalk it up to him having a bad day but if it happens again, I'll be going somewhere else. Most of the poor reviews on here are due to poor customer service so it must be something Edwards needs to work on. read more

We purchased 2 racks of baby back ribs-one raw and one that was smoked and prepared in store. The first night we prepared the raw rack and it turned out amazing. The second rack we decided to prepare the next night for my birthday. It was HORRIBLE. The meat was so dry and overcooked that we could barely chew it, and they had left the membrane on as well. We ended up throwing the whole thing away. You would think that a store that specializes in meat and barbecue would know how to cook ribs. $40 worth of inedible meat was the perfect end to my birthday. read more

The meat is always great and fresh, I just wish I knew a bit more about it, like where it's from, is it hormone-free, grass-fed, etc.? The butchers are always friendly, helpful, and up-beat- I love them. The front-of-the-house people need to eat more of this fine meat to get into a happier mood. They always seems terribly unhappy that they have a customer there and I'm tired of trying to be nice to them, it's a one-way nice street most of the time. Today I bought oxtail, hot links, frozen French bread dough, some seasonings, honey, and jellybeans, as we had a long trip back to Colorado Springs and I needed to keep my daughter occupied in the car by playing "guess the jellybean flavor". I'm from Las Vegas so I'm sometimes surprised how expensive things are in Colorado relative to that. That being said, I'm always willing to pay a little more for meats and seafood, especially local, grass-fed, or sustainably caught. This little shop was chock-full of stuff that I felt a little claustrophobic navigating through the aisles, but I wanted to buy everything! Items were placed in such a way that they were not hard to find, and the labels on the refrigerated cases were large and well-placed. I couldn't find split bone marrow in the freezer though (I think they were out), and this younger white woman sitting in the corner by the register was playing loud music on her phone, with her feet up on the counter at one point. Gross! There was another young women though, that helped me check out who was super nice and professional. Because of her, I'll give this shop a generous 4 stars. I wish I had more time here to look around some more, as I'm sure I missed plenty, but owners take heed of the person putting their shoes up on the counter, because it's unhygienic for shoppers who place their food items there and it just makes your shop look bad. read more

Vegetarians beware, you should avoid this place. For everyone else, this meat market is amazing. A giant smoker out front give you a indication as to all of the great dead (insert animal name here) you will find inside. At any given time there are at least a half dozen butchers behind the counter. A huge variety of freshly cut as well as packaged and vacuum sealed products. I highly recommend both the Edward's brand turkey and ham, sliced as thin as you want for sandwiches etc. Way less sodium and more flavor that what you can buy at the grocery store. I just moved to the Denver Metro Area from Louisiana. One thing I can say is one major challenge when I moved was to find good smoked sausage and boudin. To make most of Louisiana dishes you'll need smoked sausage. I tried everywhere but ZERO luck. A guy at my school recommended me to try out Edwards Meat so the next day I went. I know of no other meat market in the metro area that has as full of a range of meat items as this store. It is always fresh and delicious . From the most tender steak filets to seafood , chicken, elk, buffalo, if you want it they probably have it. They will custom cut anything for you. The best meat market I have been to. Don't dare ask a question, they'll make you feel like a complete idiot and then laugh amongst themselves. No lie! I asked where the corned beef was this morning and well I had an IQ of 12. Asked for 3-4 lb piece of brisket - cut and wrapped a 3 lb piece. When home cut 1 1/4 lb of fat off leaving 1 3/4 lb of meat at a cost of over $26. Should have checked it before wrapped- but very disappointed. read more
