It was. good sized but not huge and came out to 20 dollars BEFORE tip. Glad to have another option around, just wish we could stop with these completely insane prices in Denver. These guys tried to rip me off, so I never shopped here again. I inquired about a pig head, and according to their team, they often threw them away because no one would buy it. The best meat!! A nice selection of different meat & cuts, and they can do some requests. Everything is super fresh, even from the frozen section. The butchers here are super knowledgeable and make excellent suggestions. Plus they have pig ears for dogs & raw dog food. Our dog is on a raw diet and really enjoys the the beef & liver mix they carry, to the point she will eat around her normal food and eat only that! I will never be back. I was told to leave because I had a service animal. It is not a support animal. She serves a medical purpose for both alerting and assisting with epileptic seizures. I told the staff as much. Regardless of your beliefs, it is Illegal to refuse service for this reason. She's a German shepherd, she was wearing her vest, and was patiently sitting on my side. Being asked to leave against ADA LAW infuriates me. Oh and their prices are incredibly high. read more

Brand new meat market in neighborhood. (This is the old Allegra location and you would never know as the space is large.) Great selection and they have cheese and sauces, as well. Stop in to grab something for grill. I picked up two pork medallions wrapped in bacon and speared with fresh Rosemary. I was given perfect instructions for cooking and last night we had something a little special for dinner. The meat was tender and flavorful with a hint of the rosemary. Our two medallions were $4.98 total and were perfect for the two of us, I know The Local Butcher is going to succeed in our neighborhood, I already see a long line for holidays. read more

I've only walked through the other location once, but this new spot is at least twice as big! I'll bet they could break down an entire buffalo or elk right here in the shop. As with any local butcher, expect much higher prices than at the local grocery, but the process here are compatible to other butchers, and all of the meat is local. I went home with some elk steaks. They were frozen, but still local. I can't wait to throw these on the smoker. The store opened with very little fan fare. I, for one, am happy to welcome The Local Butcher to the neighborhood. I recently moved to Denver and jumped on yelp to look for a butcher shop, The Local Butcher was so close to where I live so I decided to check it out. I was so happy I decided to check this place out, they have so many selection of meat. They also had many pellet grill accessories which was a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend and I were so excited to find the local Butcher! They've got an awesome selection, and all the employees are so nice and helpful. We even accidentally tried to come on a Tuesday (when they're typically closed), and came back the next day! I also love how they are starting to add more non-meat product to their shelves, it saved us a trip to the regular grocery when all we needed was some flour. I told my Dad about them because he has a Traeger grill (that he's obsessed with), and they carry a bunch of Traeger branded items! Very excited to keep coming back here for our meat purchases! And lo, there was great rejoicing! A real butcher shop moved into the neighborhood! Still, you never know, so with a mixture of dread and excitement, we walked up... Turns out they open at 10, it's 9:10am...but they threw open the door and apologizing for still unwrapping meat invited us in early. Still in their soft opening stage, they had local made sausage (including wife's fav, blueberry breakfast sausage) and brats, thick bacon, racks of ribs, glorious steaks, pork chops, lamb, chicken...and butcher cut brisket! For a place still getting stocked, they had everything I needed to smoke a heap of ribs, can't wait to see how they fill the place. A nice early selection of ribs and sauces, kosher salt, etc. Would love to see a broader selection of smoker pellets, never had good luck with Traeger in my Yoder or Green Mt. But they do have wood chunks for anyone doing the real deal. Grabbed a bulk meat menu, now off to make room for a quarter or variety pack, which ever will fit. I used to drive half, or all the way across town for all these needs, now it's local! The future looks bright...as in looks like sandwiches, from quality deli meat. Fridges with good cheese, some pasta makings, but room for far more stock. Hell, they even have a decent t-shirt. Welcome to the neighborhood! We like this spot. We've been here a couple times for quality meats at prices either the same or less than grocers. Especially in this time when meat is hard to find these guys have a good amount of it. They also have other products to go along with your meat so come check them out especially if you are having a hard time finding something (i.e. ground beef). read more

I ordered from this shop for the first time because it's close to my house, offered online ordering/payment and quick pickup. Since the pandemic shut down so much, it seemed like a good time to try them. Let me say that this shop surpassed any expectations I might have had. All the meat we've ordered is unbelievably delicious. The staff is so so so nice and helpful. And the prices are completely reasonable! I've paid more for a far less quality product from King Soopers! Seriously! I think they locally source most everything which feels (and tastes) great. Forget Marzycks or Tonys. These guys are about equidistant to me as Oliver's but I thought I would give them a chance to win my business. Always want to shop local. I'm pretty standard with my ordering, ribeyes, strip, occasional pork shoulder or roast, chops etc. In most butchers I find what I need in the case, but the case here is usually pretty slim picking. Quality of the cuts really depends on who's working. Sometimes they are good, sometimes it's as bad as King Soopers. All clearly need some training. Most of the kids working there have attitudes, clearly wanting to be the cool dudes. And worst if all their credit card machine automatically asks for a 20% tip. This isn't a full service restaurant, your not getting paid server wages. Don't be greedy. Save yourself some heartache and head over to Oliver's Meat Shop where they do it in the classic style. read more

We thought the Local Butcher would be a great place to shop. We stopped in there on Sunday to confirm they would have the 12 lb pork for our smoker. The lady assured us they always have that size in the back if it's not in the front case. We go back today and NO, she denied ever having that conversation and the 12 lb pork butt was not available. We were super excited when this place opened several years ago. We have purchased meat from them every few weeks for the most part. In the beginning when they first opened, they seemed grateful for local support, were friendly and helpful for the most part. Fast forward to the last 2 yrs and service has gone down the drain and the young men who work here are little punks with HUGE attitude. I was done with them after spending at least $100/ month there and returned pig ears after a week when they were covered in mold. We were making an $80 purchase when I brought the moldy pig ears in (I had purchased 10) and was told, "yeah, it' happens" and that was it. He just tossed them in the trash, gave us our $80 bill which has the nerve to ask for a tip! Now with the mask mandate being lifted they refuse service if you don't have a mask on. Funny thing is, during the entire pandemic we supported them with weekly purchases and EVERY time I walked in they all had their masks down and would pull them up when customers entered. Funny double standard isn't it? We will NEVER be back and will continue to tell our friends and neighbors of our experiences here. read more

Love this addition to the newly renovated Oneida Park. Their butcher case is clean with meats, poultry, etc. all very fresh. They are very helpful and super friendly. Nice to have the Traeger grills and supplies offered in the store. Oh, and their sandwiches are absolutely the best!!! Simple and delicious. My favorite is the Pastrami on Ciabatta bread. Not your typical pastrami, slathered with mustard and pickle. This sandwich stacks their yummy pastrami topped with flavorful coleslaw on a (not too heavy) crunchy ciabatta roll. It's the best! Ugh I want so badly to be able to rate The Local Butcher a 5. I am all about the local shops to help keep small businesses alive and to help others follow their dreams. However each visit I've had has been less than stellar. First time I went I walked into the store when it was relatively new to the neighborhood, and not one employee welcomed me which seemed inconsiderate. My husband went to buy pellets for our smoker recently. He walked into 4 employees working and not one person asked to help him after standing there for about 3 minutes. Today I called to ask if they had Walleye. They put down the phone for at least 5 minutes and when they came back they said "yes". I ordered 3 other meats and said I was walking over. Arrived to have 3 different employees say they don't know of my order. The 4th guy walked up with the 3 other meats and said they didn't have walleye. I reminded him of our phone conversation and my order and he seemed less than empathetic. Unfortunately I think I'll have to find another local butcher that wants my business and will be more appreciative especially based on the current state of the world and small business landscape. #bummed read more

We have ordered from the Local Butchers' at Oneida once before. Steaks were delicious so we decided to have them again for Thanksgiving. We got one large Fielt Mignon and two very large Ribeyes. The total came to almost $80. Worth it for good steaks. We grilled them to perfection, medium with pink in the middle however they were all very tough without much flavor and we ended up being unable to eat them for our Thanksgiving meal we were so much looking forward to. Not sure what happened there but very disappointed in our family meal not to mention for such an expensive one too. Not sure we will purchase meats there again.. read more

This is a once a week stop for us for the best meats and service. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We bought four meat and cheese trays when they first opened and all were unique and well thought out. We didn't give them direction, they just did it great. We may never go anywhere else again.
