Very disappointed. Slow service. Ordered a coffee (self-serve). Was told to come back to give rest of our order as the only person working was making two sandwiches. Eventually ordered a bagel and a latte. Took forever to get our order. Bagel was toasted with a *small* serving of cream cheese on the side. Latte was fine. We sat outside as we have a toddler and don't want to disturb other customers. Strange moldy couch and dirty toys on the patio. Really don't understand how this place gets 4.5 stars. read more

Really good coffee, roasted by Edwin, and fantastic quiche, baked by his mom. There are frequently four choices of quiche, including a tall breakfast quiche with potato crust filled with ham, spinach, carrot and cheddar. Her triple-berry muffins are moist, but not oily, and almost cake-like. He makes a mean cappuccino, and the straight Sumatran coffee is excellent, as well. To top it off, Ed's the nicest proprietor you'll ever meet. There are no set hours when Edwin's is open or closed. When the door is open, they are open. When the lights are out he's closed. The pastries are heavenly and very fresh. Made each morning. But the service is slow. I bet if he hired 1-2 more people it would make a big difference. You can tell the owner knows the regular customers and they like him. I really like this place. It has a great family owned and run business feel to it. It has both indoor and outdoor seating which is great for when the weather is nice. It has an extensive menu with reasonable prices. And the customer service was top notch. I ordered a smoothie and breakfast bagel sandwich. The smoothie was made with real fruit and juice and tasted amazing. The bagel sandwich was prepared well with good quality ingredients and was well presented. The quality of their coffee and homemade baked goods is the best around. I love this independent coffee shop. The best coffee- a lot of customers come in to buy their beans which Edwins roast themselves. I love how unpretentious this place is; a true neighborhood feel. The cinnamon rolls (made from scratch) are unbelievable! It's a little hard to read there (there's usually music or tv playing, dim lighting, the ac usually isn't on when it's hot, etc), but the quality of the coffee and snacks brings me back. We moved to the area 5 years ago and the first local coffee joint we checked out was Edwin's. Mostly based upon the Yelp reviews. It's the one we still go to. The other reviews are super accurate. Edwin remembers all my family's names, what we each drink, and always has a great conversation with us. Same for the other people working there. They're fantastic. Yep, the food is great, the coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere encourages folks to chit chat. It's not going to be uber hip or sleek, but there is something about the place that's just special. It's one of the few coffee shops that I think brings people together. Folks are smiling and happy. It's just how it is there. You're not going to get your drink in 2 minutes, you'll have to wait, but it's worth it. We adore this place and the people there. read more

We LOVE Edwins. Every time we go Edwin is extremely sweet and personable. Not to mention the food and coffee is VERY good. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are simple, amazing, and tasty. and the coffee is much better than "chain" coffee. They have a side patio area that's never too busy. We go often but what impressed me today was that my son (18 months old) was trying to run off the patio area and Edwins wife came out and offered to put up a baby gate so we didn't have to keep chasing him. They're super accommodating to families and we love that. I would much rather support this small family owned place than somewhere else! :) read more

So it was Sunday morning and before the Auburn Home show, we wanted to try a local coffee shop vs. the name brand places. When walking into this shop, its very small and only a couple table to sit at and a couple outside. Kinda of crammed in there, but quaint. Only one person was working and it was busy in there and it looks like he wasn't able to keep up. The person who served us today was very kind and offered us some choices. Seemed a bit overwhelmed with how many orders he needed to do, but he was plugging away. The coffee it self was really good and the wife's tea was as well. From what I see this place is genuine and legit when it comes to coffee with out all the big names. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and because he was so busy, we didn't get them for about 25 min. This is why the 4 stars. Hopefully next time there will be more of a staff or cross our fingers we get there when there isn't a big rush! read more

Edwin's was a pleasant and unlikely find amidst the seemingly endless suburban sprawl of Roseville. It has the feel of a downtown coffee shop, which is to say it bucks the trend of antiseptic, corporate coffee offerings in the 'burbs. I was on the hunt for someplace to work and originally planned on checking out Origins. Fortunately for Edwin and me, Origins happened to be closed for remodeling. Immediately upon entering Edwin's, I knew I'd found what I was looking for. The employees greeted me with big smiles. The smell of roasted coffee beans was like a sweet hypnotic potion. They asked me what I wanted and weren't at all pretentious about my choice or coffee ignorance. Before I knew it, I was sitting in a cushy leather chair with a rich and sweet iced mocha in my hand. If I were to go searching for a negative, it would be that the interior is dated, as if someone never prioritized interior decorating since the 1990's. But this also adds to its charm. Kind of feeling yelp guilt right. After having such a not so great experience a few years ago, I left a not so great review. I hadn't returned to give the place another chance and now I wish I had earlier. I was getting my hair done next door and I was falling asleep in the chair so I decided I needed a latte and maybe something to snack on. I headed over to Edwin's (foils in my hair and all) pretty much because it was my only option. When I walked in the owner was so incredibly friendly and helpful. I spotted a yummy looking chicken pocket in the pastry case and he offered to hear it up, place it in a handy to go box and even asked if I needed to take some silverware with me. For my caffeine fix, I decided to go with a vanilla latte and it was perfect. I am bumping this place up to 5 stars to compensate for years of my sad one star review. This place is my "go-to" not only for a little peace and relaxed atmosphere to study, read, journal, etc. But it is a MUST for my coffee. I am a coffee snob...can't stand the chains, burnt beans, and trying to pas it off as good java. Ed roasts his own beans and it is fun to show up on the weekend to watch if one is interested in the Kraft. This is the best damn coffee house in the Sacramento region that I know of. I would challenge anyone that drinks regular brewed coffee religiously....to take their favorite roast from their other place, and then see if Edwin's has this bean as well and then try their roast. I would be very surprised if you didn't like Edwin's hand crafted roast "hands down" better. Way to go Ed, I love your signature tastes. Kenya AA used to be my favorite bean with Nicaragua next....but I have really grown attached to your signature: Ed's Bodacious. I can't say enough about the small business, family, feel of this place. Edwin's Mom is baking some of the best treats. The walls are filled with her artwork as she was an Art Teacher in her younger years at a high school on the central coast. Dishes are even beaming with artwork. Family owned business, with family members working in and around the shop all the time. So very friendly and prideful of the shop - it is a pleasure to be a customer! This place is easy to miss, begrudgingly sitting at the end of a suburban mini mall. But venture inside, it will make you happy. You'll likely be greeted (nonthreateningly) by Ed or other staff. The place looks ice cream parlor-ish, but don't let that deter you from ordering. The coffee is smooth, the mochas and other blends are rich and creamy. It all tastes fresh, with no burnt aftertaste like the chains. And it's nice to actually be served coffee in a mug, rather than the nth% post consumer recycled paper cup. The tea selection is extensive (Republic of Tea). Pastries and ice cream are also available. It's a great environment to read or study. You can sit at a table, the little bar, or lounge in a leather chair. There's a small outside patio, too. Locals are always popping in and chatting with the staff. Very neighborhoody.
