Blackberry lemon danish & turkey belt
    Alejandra G.

My sister showed me this place when I was visiting her and was telling me on the way over about how many syrup options there were. I was thinking maybe like 6. No, Edwin has probably 20-25 different options - which, if you're a person like me, can feel overwhelming, but if you're anything like my sister, you jump at the chance to be creative with your drink. She got a blueberry vanilla latte & I got an English toffee vanilla latte. Both were a great blend and so good! The perfect balance of coffee and flavor. The food options he offers looked fantastic. He explained that there's a "turkey belt" (turkey and cheese breakfast sandwich thing- so delish. The seasoning sprinkled on top is amazing too), scones, raspberry/blackberry lemon danishes (sooo good) and a couple other items. Edwin was telling us he's been there for 30 years. It's just him that works there. There's a little outdoor patio area and decent amount of seating inside too.

This place doesn't have a menu, you just ordered whatever you want! Definitely feel the home-iness to this place. Mexican mocha was really good! Got it with oat milk. And the toffee latte was good as well. Got it with almond milk. The scones are homemade.

Really good iced white mocha! Not too sweet, it tastes like an iced white mocha should taste!

This little coffee shop is a hidden gem. It may look like a bit of a hole-in-the-wall at first glance. The coffee is consistently delicious, rich, and perfectly brewed. But the real star? Well yes it's the coffee, but The fresh baked goods a close second! You can absolutely taste the difference. Everything tastes homemade and made with care. The breakfast quiche is incredible...And the danishes? Some of the best ever. If you're looking for amazing coffee and delicious pastries, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Where have we been? This coffee place has been in our hood for a long time and we just got to try it pretty recently. We were super impressed with the high rating on Yelp so we tried it and indeed Edwin does deserve this high rating. Came in on a Friday morning. There were a few patrons but basically all through out the time we were there, customers are lining up for their coffee to go. Edwin, the owner was by himself but he was a PRO for handling each customers needs. We got a chance to chat with him and learned that he bought the business some 19 years ago. He was inspired by Italians to provide patrons with coffee that is definitely worth coming back for. During this visit we ordered the following: 1. Large latte for the hubby 2. Cappuccino for me 3. Three berry white chocolate chip scone 4. Cheese jalapeño pastry from the "day old" display case - which was sold for cheaper price We didn't know that we can actually order his quiche until we asked him so we had 2 to go as follows: Breakfast and Jalapeño cheese quiche. It's not on display but is available daily. Parking is not a problem. Located in the corner of sunset and fairway drive. Definitely the best coffee in town!

We were looking for another coffee place to hang out for breakfast. This shop popped out after a quick Yelp search with 4.7 stars from 300+ reviews. Came in on a Friday morning to the mostly empty Fairway Downs strip mall. Edwin was buzzing serving clients by himself. With less than a 5 minute wait, he asked us if we had any questions. After answers were given, he gave me a plate to put my Cheese Jalapeño pastry from the "Day Old" display case. My wife opted for the Three Berry White Chocolate Chip Scone. Our hot beverages would be a Large Latte and Cappuccino. After finishing our delicious pastries and having our generously portioned go juice poured in paper cups, we added on slices of the Breakfast and Jalapeño Cheese Quiche. FYI. He doesn't have them on display but it's always available. Edwin's has been in business for 19 years now and this is our first time in this "hole in the wall" cafe. He told us that after buying this business from his employer, he learned roasting beans from the Italians. He sells them for $19 a pound. I told him, I've found my new coffee shop. So glad we discovered this gem so close to our house.

Love Edwin's. I've been coming here for 8+ years and it's still my favorite coffee shop in placer. Ed is so kind and always remembers me, my kids love coming here. My favorite drink is an iced Americano with some sugar-free mocha and then I put a tiny splash of half-and-half. It's the perfect level of sweetness, he always accommodate if I ask for half decaf. The kids got a blueberry muffin this time and they loved it so much that We got another one. They also got their own milks. The ambiance is great, with indoor and outdoor seating. I love that it feels comfortable and very much like "home". Comfy couches if you need to work, or tables inside and out.

    Apple turnover - u don't know what u r missing
    Aparna R.

Nothing like a corner store when it comes to quality delicious food. I am glad I tried the Apple Turnover. He did tell me that he makes his own stuff and I believe him as no mass production can deliver food that tastes this good. Recipe is so unadulterated. Be it the Wooey taste of egg and flour in the interior or taste of cinnamon and sugar on top. It is a class apart uncontaminated culinary skills. The apple slices in the filling were delicious by themselves and the their velvety texture was pure awesome. This is what is called as country cooking or ranch cooking so hearty. I am a coffee lover and I am not into specialty drinks. He has one Oregon chai. I always go for strong robust flavors he has out as soon as one enters they can spot. Very warm and considerate service. The place has a chilled pub like seating.

    Breakfast quiche

Awesome selection and service! The warm selection of breakfast was also very good. I ordered the breakfast quiche, which looks amazing. I'll be back for sure.

One of the best Pistachio Latte i've ever tasted. Quality of the coffee is so good. Will be back again!

The inside does not provide much seating so I would not use this place for studying or doing work. It is more of a grab and go place. I got the vanilla blueberry latte. It tasted exactly like a blueberry waffle. It was a good mild flavor but did not have enough caffeine for me. Because it is in a random spot of Roseville I'm not sure if this is a place I would go out of my way for but if you are near the shop you can get your weekly beans here!

They didn't load it up with ice like most do. Overall, would go back but probably wouldn't crave it too often. It's more creamier than it is fruity which I don't always lean towards. Also, not as strong caffeine wise. The service itself was fine. I do agree with the other reviews about the staffs attitude. The girl who took my order was kind and made our pup cup from scratch but as a whole, it feels like they took the girls who worked at Brandy Melville and placed them here instead.

We ordered the banana Matcha and the einspanner Matcha. The twin enjoyed the banana Matcha because they gave less ice. It had a nice banana flavor that didn't taste like candy. I enjoyed the topping on my einspanner. I don't know what it is made out of but it is a very thick cream similar to marshmallow fluff. Twin likes to mix drinks so after we both had half she combine the drinks and that was tasty too. We also ordered the combination by me. The bread was very good, fresh, but not super dry or stale. The inside was good, but it needed pate and fat and a little more seasoning. It had a very nice presentation as it came in a little box. We don't live near this place but the next time we are close, I will stop by.

Best matcha is from Offbeat coffee in sac, but the double at Gu Ca Phe is just as good and has its own unique charm. Worth the price, worth the drive! Amazing. If I got it with normal sweetness, I don't think I'd love it as much. Long version: Cute little spot in an unsuspecting location. I don't live in Roseville but was here for an appointment so I stopped by since this place has been on my list. After trying dozens of matchas in Sacramento and surrounding areas, this one definitely rivals the top spot. It's a small location and the service was nice and pretty standard. They also have a kiosk so you can take extra time to scroll through the menu with photos. Not a fan of the AI artwork throughout if I'm being honest but I know it's a sign of the times. And I'm glad their drinks actually do look pretty damn close to the photos unlike other businesses. I got the regular size double matcha, less sweet. If it was regular sweetness, I don't think I'd like it as much. The matcha is good quality, seems like it was freshly handwhisked but not sure. It is strong without being astringent. The matcha cream is amazing and strong as well. You def have to love matcha to enjoy this one. It's going to be stronger than something you find at Starbucks of course. I love matcha to hit me in the face so this drink was perfect. They have the good ice, too ! A similar matcha I've tried, and is my personal #1 across dozens I've tried, is from Offbeat Coffee (x2 matcha). Gu Ca Phe has finessed something similar and I honestly feel like it would be worth the drive from West Sac to Roseville just for Gu Ca Phe's double matcha. I want to try their other drinks. The sugar croiffle was delicious, too!

I'll be honest, the Ethiopian I started with wasn't really showing how I expected. It felt a little muted and flat to me. But here's where it flipped, he actually checked back in, asked what I thought, and instead of brushing it off, he was like "yeah... you're right." That alone tells you a lot. He pivoted and brewed up a Mexican that absolutely slapped. Clean, expressive, way more dialed. From there we just geeked out for a bit talking single origins, roasting approaches, equipment, all of it. That level of awareness and willingness to adjust in real time is rare, and it's what makes a place worth coming back to. I'm really interested to see how he continues to shape the program here. I was honestly so excited to go to this place. This coffee bar is actually quite hidden, as they are located right behind the Village General Store on Vernon. There's quite a bit of parking when the storefront is closed, so you wouldn't even expect a wait at all. They have such a spacious patio as well (if you want to sit down and have a good time chatting it up with your other friends), and such big space to wait if you don't want the patio. I got one of their oatmeal cookies as well as their Matcha lattes. What I didn't know was that their oatmeal cookies were gluten free, and they were sourced and made locally by artisans here in Roseville. They also used quite premium-grade matcha that made it taste really good with the whole milk they mixed in eventually. The ambiance and the hospitality was one of the best out there, and I can't wait to be back the next time I'm in Sacramento!
