What a catch! Decided to replace old water heater with a tankless one. After getting multiple quotes and estimates decided to go with Joseph and very happy about it. First of all, he provided quote online after looking at photos. Second, when he visited for a first time I asked to do some extra plumbing work and he agreed for a very little extra. He and Roy came on the exact time we agreed, and you could see that they enjoy doing what they do. They had to return the next day to finish that extra work I requested, they did it on Saturday as we agreed. Everything was installed professionally and it works perfectly after a month of using it. I liked professionalism and that everything was explained to me upfront with no extra hidden costs in the end. The place was left clean and all garbage was disposed by them. This is an absolutely terrible company to deal with. They do not honor their warranty. If something happens, they do not call you back. They are rude and unprofessional. We were barely out of our labor warranty. The wrong system was initially recommended. We still have a tank warranty and still no call back. They recommended a solution which would not solve the problem, essentially a lie. I was initially not rude at all over the phone only turned to that position after the way we were treated. I actually understand the right to refusal due to you being upset but in this case we have a documented warranty on our tank that you are not honoring. Discovered my 12 year old 50 gal water heater had a significant leak at 6 pm on a Friday evening, after most of the other plumbers & water heater repair companies had gone home. Also, the cold water shutoff valve wasn't working so I would have had to shut off the water to the whole house for the night (or weekend). I caught Joseph just as he was going home and after having me send him a few photos of my current water heater, he was able to find a good replacement in stock and was over at my place by 8 pm to install it, and within a couple of hours, he had everything up and running (and he also replaced the faulty shutoff valve for me). The owner (Joseph) did not provide basic information like water heater model details (link of the heater from the manufacture, price etc) and did not provide any quotes with breakdown (installation fee, new heater price and model, ). I had our tankless water heater installed by Efficient Water Heaters in 2022 without a permit. Last week, I had a slab leak, not related to the water heater installation. I had several plumbers come out to diagnose the leak, and they all pointed out that the water heater installation was not done to code, and a city inspector would fail the inspection immediately if they saw the water heater. I wouldn't know if an installation wasn't done to code, but I suggest getting a permit and inspection done if getting a water heater installed. read more

AVOID. They don't accept responsibility for their work. They try to shift blame for their own mistakes, and they ghost customers. I had them install a water heater in 2019 which resulted in three years of water damage HELL until I hired another contractor last month to fix their installation. Here's what happened, summarized: 1. Within an hour of them finishing the installation, my garage flooded. I called them and they back. They said it was the Town of Los Gatos' fault - that the town had high or inconsistent water pressure. They told me I needed a pressure regulator at the front of the house, so I paid them to install one (at a price I later learned was a rip off), which left with water pressure that was almost unusable. That seemed to fix the problem for a few days, but then it started overflowing on a fairly regular basis. 2. The flooding became more frequent over time. This February, I again reached out to Joseph multiple times via his business email and Yelp, only to be ignored repeatedly. I was always polite and never accusatory. I gave him the benefit of the doubt about the town's culpability, but when I checked with my immediate neighbors, nobody near me had had water heaters flooding. I suggest to Joseph that maybe it was a faulty heater - maybe they could return it to their supplier for a replacement. No answer to three emails. The sheet rock near the heater is now permanently damaged from the constant moisture and mildew, which will cost me even more to repair. 5. Last month, I gave up on Joseph and hired another contractor to come out and replace the heater. He immediately spotted the likely culprit. Joseph installed the heater's thermal expansion tank upside down! The contractor redid the copper piping and put the little bugger right side up, and what to do you know - it fixed the problem. I don't like to leave negative reviews, I know it's tough running a small business. I run one too. Though I feel future customers really need to be warned about this outfit. These guys would probably be fine for replacing a basic hot water tank unit as he was quick to come and replace the water heater. However, I would look elsewhere if at all interested/willing to be up-sold retrofitting a tankless unit. Short response, they misrepresented the product, did not install it to the manufacturer's specifications, and general poor workmanship. Longer response: Joseph advertised a tankless unit that by itself would reduce hot water to back of the house in less than 10 seconds without any recirculation line. For a bit extra, he could put in a comfort valve and reduce it further to 3 seconds or less. Well he did not like my sink to put in a comfort valve so he did not install one, but plumbed the tankless so I could "add a comfort valve later in the bathroom" if I ever decided to change the faucet. It would just require opening a valve and changing the settings on the controller. He said I will have hot water within 10 seconds max with just this unit as is, which would have been great since it takes a minute for a shower or 2 minutes for a sink as is. He said the system just needs to get "primed" before it truly works and he left. Hot water is still 1-2 minutes to the back of the house to this day. Called Navien the manufacturer and they said their unit cannot improve hot water time over a water tank without a recirculation line or comfort valve (comfort valve if plumbed properly makes your cold water line act like a recirculation line to dump water from hot line into) installed. Called Joseph back and the response from him was literally, "the technician was an idiot." I called and spoke to 3 more technicians at Navien and got the same response that the unit alone is not enough. There is nowhere for the cold water already in the pipe to go and the heater alone can't fix that without some sort of recirculation line to flush the water out. Again I spoke to Joseph and he said we could schedule a joint call with his Navien rep and he would prove me wrong. Bugged him weeks later for when will we schedule and his response was "I have nothing to prove." He then tried to claim I must have a cold water mixing issue. That is actually an easy test, and of course I don't. It is simply the product is doing what the manufacturer designed it to do, not what Joseph claims it can do it. He said we don't have to do business together anymore if I choose to believe the manufacturer over him... only issue is I already paid him to provide a product that would provide hot water in under 10 seconds and he did not deliver. As far as not installing to the manufacturer's specification, see attached pictures. Navien requires a check valve on the cold line of the T and an expansion tank. However they installed the check valve on the T heading to the recirculation line instead of the cold line and no expansion tank. According to Navien this is incorrect and the unit has its own check valve built into the unit on the recirculation side, one must be added on the cold side. I have left a voicemail and text to Joseph to discuss this and no response to date. So now this means if I do add the comfort valve at the sink, I have to hire someone else to re-plumb the water heater itself before I open the shutoff valve in the recirculation line. As far as general poor workmanship... you know the saying measure twice, cut once? My unit is 1 inch too far from the closest electrical outlet. So now I have a 6ft extension cord (my cord) hanging bundled on the wall. They primed all the PVC condensation pipe except for where they tapped into my A/C condensation pipe and now I get small leaking from there. They did the exhaust pipe last and instead of doing a clean pipe straight up, they made it easier and kicked it out to the side to have easier access to cutting a hole. Now I have this long unnecessary crooked pipe exposed with dripping primer all over. Guess it is in the garage, so who cares if it looks clean? read more

Not only did this installer fail to honor the warranty promised at the time of installation, but they also proved to be incompetent in diagnosing the actual issue. To add insult to injury, they completely ignored my attempts to communicate with them. Beware of this installer and consider alternative options to avoid wasting your time and money. When I initially hired this installer, they assured me of a warranty that would cover any problems that might arise with the tankless heater. However, when I experienced an issue shortly after installation and reached out to them for assistance, they conveniently ignored their commitment and refused to provide the necessary support. Their blatant disregard for the warranty they promised is a clear demonstration of their lack of integrity. Moreover, their diagnostic skills were woefully inadequate. Despite my clear explanation of the problem, the installer insisted that the issue was something entirely different, disregarding my insight and understanding of the situation Fortunately, I decided to seek assistance from a different installer, who proved to be competent and reliable. They promptly identified and fixed the actual issue with my tankless heater, resolving the problem in a single visit I would have given this guy a zero star had there been an option.
