The Job well done. It was very straight forward conversation and problem solving. (I called several other service providers but some of them tried to sell new water heater. I knew my issue could be FIXED rather than replaced.) The service I requested about 2 hours ago today were promptly responded over the phone conversation with Joseph. Be careful if you are looking to install a new water heater. I contacted them and was asked to send a photo. I was then given an estimate to replace my gas heater with a tankless water heater. It was the lowest estimate I received, which was appealing. I was aggressively pursued to hire them, told they are a NorCal rep for the brand, I would be over paying if I hired anyone else, they could come to install right away, etc. My questions were answered very quickly. However the minute I said I would be getting a permit for the installation, all of a sudden, he was no longer interested to install the water heater. Cities require a permit when installing a new water heater. He is the only plumber who didn't want me to get a permit, everyone else had it already in their estimate. If someone gives you a low estimate, wants you to pay cash and isn't comfortable with having their work inspected for safety, then that should be a huge red flag. Tankless water heaters need an adequate gas line and proper venting for safety reasons which is why it's important to get a permit and have the city inspect the final installation. In addition, when selling a home you are legally obligated to disclose that your water heater was installed without a permit. Why would a plumber not want you to get a required permit, and prefers payment in cash? read more

Installed a 75 gallon water heater for me 2.5 years ago. At inspection, the city inspector noted three items that needed to be corrected. When installing water heaters is your only business, you shouldn't have any code violations after an install. Inspection also mentioned that they used galvanized pipe on the expansion tank plumbing, which shouldn't be done, but was not technically a code violation. I told them about all this, and they did come back and fix the code violations, but chose not change the galvanized plumbing. 2.5 years later, I'm cleaning up a flooded laundry room because the galvanized plumbing has corroded and rusted through. Water heater lifetime should be 10+ years, their bad install caused a problem and the plumbing failed after 2.5 years. Absolutely no reason for this, no reason to not use brass connections - only possible reasons are being cheap or lazy. Of course their labor guarantee is only 1 year, now I see why. I called someone else to come and plumb it properly. Do yourself a favor and use someone else, or expect to pay for future problems. read more

I don't usually write reviews unless I had an amazing experience or had a terrible experience. I called Efficient Water Heater because I have purchased their water heater and they have installed it for me a few years ago. Recently, I have a water leak due to the water heater pipe burst inside the wall in the house + main water valve is leaking. They quoted me a price and scheduled/confirmed the next day visit from 11am-1am. Few hours later, I suddenly received a text from Efficient and told me my appointment is now 2pm-4pm. What happened to the earlier confirmation?!?!? I was not happy with the sudden change, but I decided to give them benefits of doubts and rescheduled it to the later time. On the day of the scheduled visit (2pm-4pm), I received another text from Efficient around 3pm. They told me they can't make it and ask me to reschedule it to next day and assure me they will be there next morning?!?!?! I was starting to feel Impatient, but I decided to give them another chance since it is getting late and dark. Next day, I woke up by a morning call around 8am from Efficient. This time, they ask me about the size of the pipe--because they happens run out the 1" pipe. I was surprised that they are asking me (customer) the specifics of the pipe. Even more amazingly, what happened to the Home Depot or Lowes for the spare parts?!?! Long story short, they cancelled the scheduled appointment. They believe my pipe is. 1". They didn't even bother to stop by to verify. I have been very patient with Efficient. But cancelling multiple times at the last minutes are not what I called professionalism. I have wasted so much time with Efficient. This is a very frustrating and disappointing experience for me. To be honest, I regret I even purchased their water heater a few years ago. Buyer beware! This company will rip you off We purchased a hot water heater from them less than 3 years ago. We were assured that it was "a great warranty" and purchased based on this. Well, the hot water heater is not working now. They came out and looked at it and changed 85$ just to tell us that it needs to be replaced and the labor will cost 700$ After much debating with them we have decided to move on to a new company (Lowe's). Now the technician is showing us the shoddy work of the last company which includes poorly fitting connections to a release tank (see blue goo in photo) as well as a leak where the water connects to the tank. read more

I was sick and tired of conventional water heaters! Three of my water heaters started to leak water after about 10 years! Every time when it happened, many of my boxes suffered water damages in my garage! This time I decided to get a tankless water heater. Since I have solar panels on my roof, it'd make perfect sense to get an electric tankless water heater. After talking to several companies including Efficient Water Heaters, the conclusion was it would cost over $10k to upgrade my electrical panel with 40 Amp circuits and to install 2 electric tankless water heaters to support a home 3000' or larger. The final option was to get a gas tankless heater. Joseph at Efficient Water Heaters was very responsive and worked very hard to accommodate my small budget! He strongly recommended Navien over other brands like Rinnai. Joseph was able to schedule the heater replacement to start in 24 hours! The technician Omar arrived on time at 9 am as promised. His did a professional job installing the water heater. He made sure pipes aligned well and straight. My hope is the Navien will last much longer than conventional water heaters. read more

This business is a rip off! Hit filter and sort for "lowest reviews" first and you will see a pattern in all of our experiences. False promises and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior. Joseph's team installed a water heater in my home when my old one was leaking. The minute he completed installation, my showers gave out tepid water after 2-3 minutes whereas even my broken old water heater did a much better job. Called him the next day and he said my plumbing is old and my shower stems need replacement. He said he wouldn't send anyone to look at it as he did not have time(he magically had time for my next day installation) and we would have to wait a week. We called a couple of plumbers and both told us " call the guy who installed your heater". When I took it back to him he flat out called THEM unprofessional (see that pattern with other reviewers?) and called me cheap for not replacing shower stems. He did offer to do it at an extra cost .. See photos attached for examples of rude notes after we complained. I am second guessing everything starting from his recommendation of heater to the installation itself. I am out $3K. Joseph - Don't bother replying to me saying " I told this customer to ...". You know what you did and the Yelp reviewers do too.
