I can only imagine how much better it is when the zoo is open and you can see the animals! This restaurant is part of Southwick Zoo. The brunch is offered for a limited time, seasonally. From the breakfast staples like eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, to crème brulee French toast and waffle station, an omelet station, all of the bagels and breakfast breads, and lunch options from chicken & sausage marsala, mashed potatoes and even baked haddock... there was something for everyone. Save room for the dessert station which had ooey gooey cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, cookies, mousse and so much more. Today they were offering a special Bloody Mary where we got the glass to take home. My husband couldn't resist! Waitstaff was attentive (thanks, Meagan!) and the environment was cozy but spacious. Our server was very friendly and immediately asked us what we wanted to drink - love it! I got the seasonal margarita which was a hibiscus watermelon margarita and it was amazing! They are so friendly to me and my wife. Not too many bars in Rhode Island are as friendly as the ones here in Charleston South Carolina, but this one sure is. Although I have never personally tried the food, a customer at another bar told me that lower level has excellent food. Next time my wife and I go to Rhode Island, we are going to eat there. We both ordered fish & chips ($21) and, again, were disappointed with what we received for the price. The chips appeared to be hand cut & were tasty, but the small, thin fish fillets were breaded in what I believe was cornmeal. Edible but certainly not what you'd expect from an Irish pub. Where's the beer batter? Neither of us liked the tiny cup of coleslaw. Afterwards, we asked for a dessert menu. Again, no prices. There were three desserts & several coffee drinks listed. We opted for Irish coffees ($13) and were pleased with the coffee, whiskey, brown sugar and fresh whipped cream concoctions. With tax & tip, the total bill came to $105.76, way too much for this kind of place. And, they ended up charging us $13 for that mini-Margarita. Whatever. We won't be back.

The full service bar offers 12 draft beers, bottled beers, wine, mixed drinks & cocktails. For food, they offer a selection of appetizers, wings, salads, chowder, chili, smash burgers, sandwiches, pizza, steak tips, seafood, pasta, mac & cheese, and side dishes. The prices seem fair. I stopped by AJ's recently for a late lunch. I decided to sit at a high top table near the bar and TVs above, which were showing college football. I was given a paper menu with Uncle Sam (I Want You) printed on it. The server promptly took my order. I got an ice water and decided on the King Philly Smash Burger ($15.99 plus tax) served with fries and a Side of Mac & Cheese ($4.99 plus tax). My food came out in 10 minutes. The King Philly had 2 grilled double smash patties smothered with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, onions, & melted American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun. This burger was superb! The golden fries in a mini fry basket were hot and lightly salted. The small crock of mac & cheese had firm cooked cavatappi smothered in a creamy cheddar cheese sauce. After I finished my food, I requested the check which was $22.45 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food here was very good and filling. I was able to relax and watch some of the games shown on the TVs. After I was done, I headed towards the outlets for some shopping.
