The service was really nice and the restaurant is comfortable, plenty of parking. But I had two complaints that skewed my review downward. The first was that the food came out quickly but was only okay. The Swedish pancakes were average, and the accompanying ligonberry portion was small. The chicken sausage was not very good, I prefer pork, but they don't have pork sausage patties. The second issue was that the food was really expensive. I had orange juice, the pancakes and two sausage patties (that I didn't eat), and with tax and tip, my bill was $25. Egg harbor is just a great spot. They have really quality breakfast with good family vibes. My mom and I love to go here when we have time together. Be warned- if you go on the weekend be prepared to wait a while to be seated and for a LOUD dining experience. Every one of their locations is extremely loud inside for some reason. I've been going to egg harbor since my children were little, they are now 25 and 26, so for a very long time. Today we took a trip out to egg harbor from the city and was expecting to have a great meal. Unfortunately, it did not meet the standards of what I would expect for spending $40 for two people for breakfast. The food was very cold, my potatoes and the lobster melt I ordered were completely cold. I did not want to send it back for fear that they would do something to it if I complained. I ate some of the rubbery sandwich as I was hungry and could not stomach the rest. The person I was with ordered extra peppers and salsa, he was charged $.80 for EACH SLICE of green pepper and $.50 for a dollop of salsa, talk about nickel-and-diming your customers. First, I'll start by saying I stumbled on this place just by driving around the strip mall looking for a place to park and get coffee. Mind you, it's Mother's Day weekend, so I decided to treat myself . I should've kept it moving. I say famous because they come with every damn thing! . Now the soft scrambled eggs came out like an overcooked omelet laid across the UNDERCOOKED famous potatoes and tiny perfectly cut pieces of diced ham which looked prepackaged because I've had ham in skillets before and never seen such precisely small , tiny cut teasers. I don't complain because I watch alot of cooking shows that show how cooks get made when customers complain and do things to food and usually a waitress asks how everything is or was but that wasn't the case either. Found this place while in town for work. I was seated immediately, and in a rather energetic way for being fairly early in the morning. The waitstaff was all great and friendly. The food was really good both in flavor and portion size. It was packed with bacon and chorizo! The atmosphere is small town quaint, and it was really clean. This place is your typical sit down breakfast for a nice family get together on a Sunday afternoon. The place was busy and packed with people waiting outside and inside! I came with my sister and her fiancé at 11:45am and was quoted a 15-20 min wait. We decided to wait and luckily the front desk had great timing as we did only have to wait only 18 minutes! We had a preference with a table or booth which is always thoughtful of the front desk. We were sat at a table near the window with utensils and a pitcher of water already set. The server came with speedy service and gave us the time we needed to decide on what to eat. I chose their Eggceptional skillet combo which offered me 3 different ingredients to add on my potatoes with Texas toast and fruits on the side. I chose jack/cheddar cheese, ham, and sour cream which the server was nice enough to put on the side. It was only about 10 minutes that our entrees were prepared and ready for us!!! And although that was impressive, it made sense given that the food portion was absolutely small for a $11-15 dish...definitely overpriced in my opinion. Our food was enjoyable, but I think it was a little confusing when the server already dropped our check after about 5 minutes of eating. She mentioned that we had no rush to pay out and she wanted to inform us that the check is ready. I felt like it could've been more appropriate to at least wait until we cleared our entrees. But speedy service was what she was going for I suppose. We were looking to get 3 lattes to go, but the check dropped that soon quickly decided for us. Very hit or miss. I had an excellent habanero hash at a different location and loved it, but this location didn't live up to my expectations. I ordered a cappuccino and it came in a massive mug with barely any foam (it was more of a latte). Although I think a bad cappuccino is forgivable because unless there is a dedicated barista, most breakfast places don't have the best espresso drinks. My partner ordered shakshouka, one of our favorite brunch dishes, but it was very watery, almost like a watered down sauce instead of crushed tomatoes. I feel bad he didn't get a good meal. I got the habanero hash again, and it was pretty good, not as great as the other location I had it at, but still good. One weird thing, I got a side of cheese grits and they kind of tasted like an indoor swimming pool. I like indoor pools, so maybe it's not a bad thing. But if you don't like swimming pools, maybe get potatoes or fruit. The bathrooms were super clean and the staff was nice. It was pretty empty when we first got there (around 8:30am) but it got real busy real quick so there might be a wait. read more

I finally convinced my partner to go and we had a great experience. We went on the Sunday of fourth of July weekend. We got seated right away and upon entering we received such a warm welcome from everyone working. I love how hospitable the staff is. I got the strawberry orange juice, traditional breakfast with chicken sausage, and a lobster salad melt (don't knock me for ordering so much!! i hadn't visited in so long!!!) My partner ordered the chicken and avocado grill sandwich. He loved it and the sides that came with! Everything was amazing. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and it wasn't overly crowded. I was seated right away by a couple of very friendly hosts. At the table I was greeted fast by a waitress and told the special of the day. I ended up choosing the skillet combo. It's a nice option because you can pick what you want in it. This place looks charming, but their kitchen is very sloppy! First, there was a torn paper sugar packet floating in our coffee. When we pointed it out, they just shrugged it off and said "Unfortunately, it happens sometimes, they get stuck there." Then we found a 1-inch twig with thorns in our fruit cup! (See attached photo.) We went on a Sunday at peak hours and still got a seat! I was surprised and expecting a wait like most places. It's tucked in the back so make sure you don't miss it! It's a normal volume restaurant and the atmosphere is that at home farmers look which was really nice. And even though it was a cloudy day, they have big windows to allow for nice lighting. I love that they have more than just coffee for their caffeinated options. The coffee is really delicious but my husband got their cappuccino and it was also delightful. I got their traditional breakfast (after debating with ten other delicious sounding items!). It was absolutely fantastic and the jam they serve is so good! This Egg Harbor is A-OK. I think it is a very strange location: it is not visible from York and you have to look for it from 22nd Street. I guess it is the lower corner of the LA Fitness building ~ strange. Yes, it looks like an Egg Harbor and has the same menu. Why move to a location not too far north of the Egg Harbor on York in Hinsdale? I did see a couple people who had obviously come from their workout and there was a large group of men holding their business meeting ~ very LOUD and I was not really interested in what they had to say. Other than that, this would have to be a destination eating place. Not a lot of residential nearby. My first experience with Egg Harbor Cafe was nearly four years ago in Georgia at their single location in that state. I hail from much further north so I always hoped I could return to one of their locations. After many trips to Chicago I finally was able to on this one. Here for business, I came here each morning the last three days. That alone should tell you something. Egg Harbor Cafe is the definitive breakfast spot. I could only dream they would expand to my county in Michigan. However they keep their locations modest and focus on quality food and care, and those are signs of a strong business. The gist of what EHC has to offer is a calm demeanor, friendly and attentive staff, satisfying portion sizes, and delicious food options. All this at very fair prices. My favorite meal is the Banana Bread French Toast complete with sliced banana on it. Pairing with some hash browns or bacon is good. I tried their skillet yesterday and it was quite delicious and filling. Every server I've interacted with and even the managing staff has been excellent. I think it must be great to work here because people are so happy, but perhaps that's the great classical music played too. My server today was Taylor, and the manager Autumn. Yesterday and the day before was Zach the manager and Becca who served me. Hopefully I got their names spelled right. Starla I believe was the girl who sat me today also. Just a stellar cast of dedicated folks here. I could gush more but I have a flight to catch. I just really hope anyone who sees this place gives it a try and I wish the best for those who operate it. I agree with Arin P. We usually like Egg Harbor Oak Brook. Today we asked to eat outside due to Covid and being careful, and the host said it was ok. Then he returned and said we had to order with him and he would let me know when it was ready for me to pick up at the desk. No problem. The first negative was that we ordered OJ-12 oz. We got a PLASTIC water cup that was 10 oz if filled to the top (impossible to do w/o spilling), so the actual amount received was 8oz. I went inside to first get a REAL glass and the proper 12oz amount (it is even written on the receipt), and to request glass plates and real silverware as well, in case this was the theme they were planning on pursuing. The manager, ALLISON, interfered with the discussion I was having with the host, and said it was 12oz. She was rude and kept insisting it was 12 oz. and added that we would receive everything served in plastic b/c we chose to be outside. I told her that I had been there a month ago OUTSIDE, and we got real dishes and glasses. She then said they are short on help and they don't have enough people to wash the dishes/serve etc. Why is that my problem? Allison needs to roll up her sleeves and pitch in if this is the case. I used to be a waitress, so I know what I am talking about from experience. The restaurant was not busy at all, may I add. I have been there on many busier days in the past. The host was a kind man who was very helpful (as much as he was allowed to help), but ALLISON is not in the right job. We will not go back to Egg Harbor again as a result. My husband is Mexican, so I am not sure if Arin's implied comment on cultural background being part of the reason he got plastic when INSIDE the restaurant, but that is all I will say as well. Oh- I measured the cup contents. It came to 8oz. according to my measuring cup by Pyrex. Also, NO customers inside just sitting (not eating yet) had on masks.
