Came here yesterday for breakfast with my sister, because we wanted to try somewhere new. We got here kind of early on Saturday and we were seated immediately. The restaurant looks like it's been repainted somewhat recently, which is unfortunately overshadowed by the tragic plastic table "cloth" on each table, that just feels sticky and kind of gross, even though it's clean. Our waitress was prompt and our food came out ridiculously fast, which was definitely appreciated. The gentleman who seated us walked around the restaurant multiple times, offering to top up coffees, as did our waitress. Although service was prompt, the atmosphere and food was just meh. I'd come back in a pinch, but there are other breakfast places I enjoy more in the area. read more

Eggcellence is an a-ok place, but they incorporate one of my pet peeves which is when places put "ery" at the end of a noun and create a nonsensical word meaning "a place that serves the aforementioned noun". I.E. they consider themselves a "brunchery". Ugh. Just typing it annoys me. Anyway, they have a somewhat unique menu here and it's pretty cozy and welcoming. They have the usual breakfast items but also a few with a twist. I got the ratatouille and (I think poached?) egg. It sounded healthy and light and would contrast nicely with the gallon of ice cream I had eaten during my weekend in Annapolis. It came out and was scorchingly hot. When I ate the vegetables, they tasted rather bitter and unseasoned, but I liked that they weren't saturated in oil or cream or anything. The egg didn't really do much besides create a runny mess. I guess the saving grace is that I did leave not feeling disgusting and full, which was nice. And the price was reasonable. I'd likely come back if I were in the area to try one of their other dishes. I think what I ate was probably geared towards a healthier eater, and with that came lack of taste. So I guess I can't really come expecting light and getting decadence. But all in all this is a cozy and family friendly spot, and worth checking out. The one disappointment though was that despite being a self-proclaimed "brunchery", they didn't really have any brunch items. If I recall correctly, they have a breakfast menu and a lunch menu, but nothing in between. read more

Not bad, but not great. They leave jars of jams on the table... so who knows who sticks what in them- pass. Which is really disappointing because they look good. Took 3 minutes to get an eggs Benedict on the table, seems like just prepped items in steamers-Also disappointing, because the meals descriptions sound amazing... I'd happily wait a little longer for something fresher. Hollandaise sauce was separated, the "steak" is chopped, overcooked pieces like a cheesesteak. Poached egg yolks were almost solid. The two rugrats, Grumpy Grandpa, and me went here for breakfast today (thanks to Patrick H for the tip!). It's a small place with more staff than customers, at least at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. Note that this doesn't mean they didn't have customers - they just seemed to have about fifteen staff members on hand to keep the coffee filled, make sure we were doing OK, and generally being friendly and involved. So how was the food, you ask? The kids had chocolate chip pancakes that were great. I had the corned beef hash topped with poached eggs, which is home-cut and good but could use a little pizazz. Grandpa had the American Breakfast with sausage, which was pretty much perfect. The thing that stands out about Eggcellence is that everything seemed to be perfectly cooked. Every sausage, pancake, egg (even the poached ones!) was just right. They obviously take pride in this, and they should. It's a pretty good joint to take kids to - they are accommodating and have a decent kids' menu. They do need to move to crayons vs. colored pencils, though, or someone's going to lose an eye. read more

Stop here on a Tuesday morning from the Naval Academy with my two kids. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly. We ordered the Marylander omelette w/a Belgium waffle and my daughter ordered the fruit with bacon and French toast. There was not a long wait for the food and their was more than enough to eat. The eggs were nice and fluffy, especially the omelette and the fruits were nice and fresh. Everything tasted great and the kids loved it too. I will be coming back in the future. read more

** 2 stars for today's visit ** It had been awhile since our last visit to Eggcellence, and I was looking forward to adding a 5th star to my review. As Jeff mentioned in his comments, there are now two changing tables (because, yes, dads can change diapers too!). And Nate, I am pleased to report that they offer the kiddos crayons now. I had raved about Eggcellence to a friend of mine, and while Chickadee was in school today, we met up with our little ones for a power breakfast. As soon as I sat down with Squeaker, though, I noticed an unwelcome guest on the wall right next to our table--a roach! I immediately informed the hostess who promptly smushed the fellow. We discussed leaving at that point, but decided to stay because: a) the kids were already settled in their highchairs and b) we've both worked in restaurants before so we know that sometimes these things happen. Still, it didn't set a great tone for the meal. Additionally, I am not sure if the hostess explained to the manager what happened, but he didn't come over to our table to apologize. Another note: I was in the mood for a "suburban mama $4 latte" and all prepared to plunk down the cash, but the restaurant does not offer any flavored syrups with its lattes. Boo. So I just drank the free water! I am sure that this insect issue was an isolated thing, but it'll be awhile before I return. My friend won't be in a hurry either. read more

After being totally ignored at Double T Diner (see the update on that review), I came here for breakfast. I remembered why I liked this place so much. It's small and a little out of the way which is fine for me. The staff is friendly. I was seated right away and given coffee. They took my order (the corned beef with poached eggs) which was delicious with real corned beef and potatoes - not the stuff that comes out of a can. This is where I'll be coming for breakfast from now on. The portion sizes are reasonable and the prices are in line with the quality of the food and service. read more

Went for breakfast and wasn't very good food. However, the staff was excellent and coffee was good. We ordered and 5-8 minutes later the food comes out which is quick. The bacon seemed like it was cooked at 5am and sitting around to put on a plate, the hash brows were very greasy and the scrambled eggs were a little runny. read more

After my last venture out for breakfast (last week) this was a welcome respite to my wallet! This place is somewhat off the beaten path--tucked away in a strip center building next to Staples and Best Buy. Tons of parking. Only open from 630am to 230pm so it is true to it's name! The food is great and the fresh baked muffins are awesome. The portions are plentiful and very tasty. My daughter had the "sampler" that included eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a few slices of french toast (guess she was hungry) and I had the classic eggs benedict (a favorite and my barometer for breakfast). No complaints from my daughter. I thought the benedict could have used a wee bit more hollandaise sauce, but it was not enough of a bummer to interrupt the waitress. The service was very friendly and we were greeted by the manager (Will Payne) immediately when we walked in and he was constantly checking up on guests and their meal. The crowd was decidedly older--now granted, this was at 830am on a Saturday morning. The food came out fast and the plates were cleared right away. All in all, a good spot to go. This is a cute little cafe in a strip mall. They have an extensive Breakfast menu and a few lunch and salads. I had the crab has with scrambled eggs instead of poached and it was good but not great. I thought the hash would have peppers and onions or some veggie but it was just the potatoes and crab and a little old bay. I also had a half of waffle and it was very good...Definitely recommend. My husband had the cinnamon roll which was also yummy...very sweet. Service was great and the food came out very quickly. Vet nice spot! read more

The breakfast potatoes were nicely cooked and flavorful. I love that they have Old Bay seasoning on the tables because I want to add it to everything! The menu was pretty standard breakfast fare, with a few twists. They have several interesting egg variations (frittatas, Eggs Benedict, etc.), which gives you the chance to try something different if you so desire. If you're a shellfish fan, give the Marylander a try (crab omelette with avocado). As it's a bit off the beaten path, Eggcellence would be a great option for anyone looking for something simple and yummy without too much of a crowd (though I'm sure they get busy on the weekends). The big portions were well-worth the prices. The service was quick and friendly, and the place has a casual, homey atmosphere. How perfect. My group of four girls came here for a nice brunch on a Saturday morning and left very happy. We didn't have much of a wait despite the fact that the restaurant was buzzing with people. I was searching for a place to take friends for breakfast on Sunday....Open Table had nothing but overpriced tourist traps and other sites weren't all that helpful. Finally googling "brunch + Annapolis" got me Eggcellence Breakfast Brunchery - and how lucky I am to have found it! Fresh, well prepared, pretty food for a good price in very pleasant surroundings with helpful and eager staff. Pinch me! I'm not from the immediate area so it seemed hard to find, but I'm sure the locals will locate this new spot soon and by then it will be packed. We sat at a sunny table in the small front room. Our four ordered: the Marylander omelet (with crab and avocado), blueberry pancakes (that smelled sweet and warm across the table!), and two American Breakfasts with perfectly cooked eggs to order, home fries, toast, and a side of meat. Everyone was thrilled with their selections and there wasn't a bite left over. The menu on their website is accurate and the map is also helpful. The coffee was fresh and good. I also liked that they left a carafe of water on the table. We got there Sunday at 10 and got a table right away, but by the time we left it was getting crowded. Highly recommended! This is my favorite place for Sunday Brunch! I go at least twice a month and always have an amazing experience! There is almost always a wait, the longest I've waited was 25 minutes and I was told it would be 30-35 minutes. They know exactly what they're doing! Food is always great! Tried this cozy eatery today and was not disappointed. My husband and I love breakfast, and this restaurant did not disappoint. When we arrived it was busy and there were a few patrons waiting. i went here for breakfast primarily because they have homemade corned beef hash and I loathe that canned stuff. The hash was very good, not great (I like a more onions in my hash. In fact I am not sure if there were any in theirs). The poached eggs on top, which apparently can be hit or miss here, were darn close to perfect. First of all Eggcellence is the greatest/cheesiest, pun intended, name for a breakfast joint. Touche on the restaurant name. We went during prime breakfast time (Sunday morning at 11) and the organization was anything but scrambled. We called ahead to inquire about the wait time and the host graciously added our names to the list to be served, so when we arrived we only waited about five minutes. The restaurant felt a little runny inside, with all of the staff attending to the quick food turn around, but well coordinated. The waitress was quiche, I mean quick, to pour a quality cup of coffee while simultaneously placing our order for a homemade lemon poppy seed muffin. This muffin was warm, straight out of the oven, goodness. I ordered the hot tamale fritatta and my wife ordered the corn beef hash. The dishes were so well prepared and looked eggstremely appetizing when they arrived. I poured tobasco sauce over my fritatta and was so eggcited to indulge. I quickly chugged my water and coffee, not so much of a hot food quencher, and proceeded to ask for multiple tastes of my wife's corn beef hash. At the end of the meal, I was comfortably full and in a semi-hibernation like state. Eggactly what I could ever hope for from a late Sunday morning breakfast.
