Big sandwiches! We got The Scramble and The Chic. Th Scramble is very creamy and soft. It's easy to scarf it down. There's a slight spice along with a caramelized sweetness from the onion. The Chic is like someone took popcorn chicken and put it in cutlet form. Pretty tasty and also incredibly filling. The brioche buns are made in house and the fluffiness of the buns is the proof. There's also a brioche bun baking station towards the back soo.. just trust your eyes. Service is fast and the food came out within 10. Saw this place near the 24 Hour Fitness and popped my head in to check it out. They have chicken sandwiches as well as hamburgers. Interestingly enough they have 2 kiosks, 1 where you purchase the chicken and another where you purchase the burgers. I decided to get a chicken sandwich and my wife decided on a lettuce burger. The chicken sandwich side has tater tots and the burger side has waffle fries. The food took a little while and when I got my chicken sandwich, I noticed that the chicken was thigh meat. I had assumed that it would be breast meat. So I took the sandwich back and asked if I could get breast meat instead and they told me I could have chicken strips. The strips were fried where the sandwich I had purchased was grilled, but I was fine with the substitution. I got the new sandwich and the chicken strips were pretty huge. For some odd reason, I'm unsure if it's the timing but every time I come here it is almost always empty. The service is decent, the workers are nice and friendly, not overtly but just the right amount I'd say. I think the food is amazing but if I had one critique it would be that it is a tad bit on the saltier side when I sometimes wish it would be less salty to let the flavors speak for themselves. I've had a few of the breakfast sandwiches before, the arugula salad, and the potato puree and poached egg with dipping toast. I think everything that I've tried from the menu has been really delicious and definitely worth a try. The drinks are also amazing, I think my favorite so far has got to be the mint snap, it's just an oddly amazing pairing of flavors that I didn't expect to like as much. The arugula salad was nice because I feel like I don't often see arugula on many menus so it was refreshing, and amazing paired with the cheese and bacon. However, I do feel like most of the food on the menu is more on the heavier side with the grease and sodium level so they kinda leave me feeling very full but satisfied. I came in with my friend and her daughter and the place looks nice inside it busy and decided to dine in. They had two kiosks to order from so I went on the other one and it was only for burgers when it was my turn to go on the other kiosk another customer came in and someone took their order at the front. I was curious if they'd bother to take my order while waiting. While waiting for my order the employees brought my friend's order and my ice coffee. While waiting I got a notification my order was ready but waited a few minutes if my order will be delivered to my table. I had to go up to the counter and asked for my order mind you there are 3 other people waiting also. When they helped a customer with an order before me I said my order number and the employee looked confused and the customer behind me said they handed my order to the person that just walked past me and the customer called him back. My order was handed off wrong and they packaged it to go. I was a little upset the employee didn't apologize. When I opened my order I saw they were missing my sauce I was charged extra and asked at the counter. The girl just looked and handed it and not apologized again. There's some construction in the shopping center/parking lot but parking was okay. There is a kiosk to place your order along with a front counter if you prefer a person or have questions. The place also had an ordering machine with pictures and descriptions to give you a better idea of what you're getting. * Chic Sandwich 4.5/5 - The portion was pretty big and I like the double proteins of chicken and egg. The fried chicken was moist, though a bit plain. The tastiest part was actually the breading. It's weird to say, but the breading was very crispy, flavorful, with a bit of a spicy kick. I was surprised that I liked it more than the chicken. The bottom of the egg was a little rubbery, but the yolk was nice and soft, truly over medium. The brioche bun was my least favorite part. I am in town visiting my brothers for the holidays - going from dry, unseasonably warm Colorado to torrential rain in San Jose for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. With the pitifully old infrastructure the rain caused the power to go out sometime early on Christmas morning, so we were faced with having cold cereal or going out for breakfast. Thus, when my older brother suggested going to Egghead Sando I readily agreed. So the first disappointment was to find that these were not Japanese breakfast sandwiches - which I took to be implied by "Sando" but my brother speculates is just a trendy term for sandwich around here? Whyyyy? The next shock was how expensive it was ... The guy at the counter who asked if we had ever been in immediately mentioned that the Burger Lab menu was less expensive so clearly they know that their breakfast menu is overpriced, but I just wasn't feeling a burger for breakfast. We ended up spending about $50 for 2 entrees, a shared side, and 2 regular coffees. Granted, I live in a much lower cost-of-living area, but that seemed like a lot for a fast casual breakfast. The saving grace is that I really did enjoy my breakfast. I got the Eggy, which is not a sandwich but rather a soft poached egg served over puréed potatoes and bits of bacon in a mason jar with a few toasted baguette slices on the side. It sounded a bit weird, but the potatoes were loose enough to make mixing it all up a satisfying dip for the bread. I don't think I will ever be back, but this might be something I'd try to recreate in my own kitchen. read more

It was even better with sriracha added. The Side Chick (9/10) now this was a delicious sandwich! The bread was soft, the sandwich itself was huge. The chicken patty looked like two large slices that might mistakenly made its way into our one sandwich, but we won't say no to that. The arugula and tomatoes gave it a perfect level of freshness. Delicious. Waffle fries (5/10) average and tasted like waffle fries from anywhere. Hojicha strawberry latte (7/10) good but nothing mind blowing our preferred taste at the moment since the hojicha was more bitter than we typically prefer. Matcha strawberry latte (8/10) good. Egghead was amazing!! My mom and I were just complaining about breakfast sandwiches lacking flavor before we ran into this cafe. We were ready to be disappointed, but were pleasantly surprised! I got the BEC and added on some avocado and arugula because I like a pop of green in my sandwiches. First impressions was that it's pretty modern and pretty self serving - you'd use the kiosk at the front to order (very easy to use, but there are menus on their front desk), there's a self serving soda machine, and you'd sit wherever and clean up after yourself. There are staff members to help assist you, but it's pretty much self serving here :) OKAY THE FOOD: * Breakfast Burger- pretty dang tasty! I enjoyed my burger, and did not feel bloated after. * The Chic- ALSO very tasty! I came here around 1pm on a Tuesday. It was pretty empty inside. No one was at the front, so I went straight to the kiosk to order. I got The Chic Sandwich, and after placing my order, I sat down at one of the high tables. The restaurant is spacious, with a good amount of tables and chairs. I really liked the decor and how modern it looked. I sat in one of the high chairs with a round table, and the chair was a little unstable, specifically when I leaned forward. Just don't lean forward, and you'll be fine. Several minutes later, a staff member brought my sandwich to me. The sandwich was warm and had a slight kick to it. My spice tolerance is on the lower side, and this wasn't too bad. The chicken was crispy and juicy. Although it was really good, it was very heavy and oily. I wasn't able to finish the whole sandwich; I took half of it home. All in all, I would definitely come here again, but I would probably opt for another menu item. read more

Just the best breakfast sandwiches ever. Their coffee selection is a bit limited, but you can hit Moonbeans a few doors down for that. Egghead's sandwiches are worth making the two separate orders for. The star of these sandos is definitely the eggs. They're scrambled moist and fluffy, with a generous enough portion that they'll slip out of the bun if you remove the wrapper haphazardly. The sauce they use is a delicious creamy mayo concoction that perfectly compliments them. Even if you opt for a sandwich with a more traditional sunny-side egg on it, the eggs are fresh with a perfectly loose yolk. The Eggy (which comes in a jar!) needs to be tried to be believed, or even understood. It seems like a weird choice with all of the sandos on sale, but trust: you have to try this thing at least once. Always a satisfying choice. So glad to have a location in south San Jose. read more

TL;DR - (1/5) Unlikely to return as of date of review. So much potential, just poor execution. Placed an order using their online ordering system at 9:26 AM on Sunday morning. Was quoted a pick up time of 9:40 AM. Arrived at the restaurant and waited at the dining area for a short while before moving to waiting at the very front, after noticing the staff is only calling out the names of patrons using their voices, at low volume, with no amplification of any sort. Perhaps this doesn't matter quite as much for those dining in (I'm hoping they get text messages notifying them of order status). The order was not ready until 9:53 AM. And any time the person behind the counter was asked (by anyone) about their respective order status, an almost automatic response of "maybe just a few more minutes". There were really NOT THAT MANY guests in the restaurant or waiting for their orders in the front. Maybe 2 parties got their order before me. I'm so curious to know how they're able to handle real rushes. Ordered the: 1) Breakfast Burger 2) The Chic 3) Waffle Fries 4) Black Sesame Milk (w/ whipped) The two sandwiches were ready way before the waffle fries, so by the time we got them, they were squarely just barely lukewarm at that point. The Waffle Fries was the last item to be ready, so tell me how it's possible that it was also just barely warm?! The Breakfast Burger was very plainly flavored. For breakfast/brunch, alright maybe that's fine, but for lunch? Not enough. It's too plain. The Chic was surprisingly decent. However, as other reviewers have said, the chicken thigh is incredibly unevenly seasoned. Some bites were seasoned just right, whereas other bites had no seasoning flavor at all. I thought the bread for both sandwiches were decent but nothing special. A light toasting with butter would improve the experience. Waffle fries were under seasoned and perhaps a little overcooked with regard to texture. Lastly, the black sesame milk drink was pulled out of the fridge once the rest of the order was ready. By that time, the whipped cream on top looked SO deflated and sad. The drink itself was decent, not bad - but you gotta like black sesame. If this meal was under $20, perhaps ideally around $17-$18, alright, fine. But this meal was almost double that amount in total, and for this price, the experience was not acceptable in my personal opinion. This was a random pick by the hubbie, and he did a great job! We live close by to the Cottle location, but never thought to try it until now. As a first time customer, I preferred the kiosk because it shows all the options for customizations, whereas the menu just tells you items as is. We ordered the breakfast burger and the chic burger both with spicy mayo, spicy ketchup, and without arugula. The hubbie ordered a cold brew and I had the pineapple cucumber green tea with 70% sweet and light ice. Mentioned earlier that the buns are made in-house, they are SO spectacular!! I still dream about the bread even now (lol!). Super soft and lightly toasted, complimented the proteins and sauces very well. The breakfast burger had well rounded flavors, it did not taste lacking. The flavors weren't impactful like a punch in your face, but a nice blend of flavors, which I appreciated. You can always ask for extra sauce or on the side on top of what is already in the burger for more flavors. This burger was 5 stars for us. The chicken is cooked similar to Taiwanese style popcorn chicken, and I'm not mad about it. The patty was huge and stuck out from beneath the buns, so they're not stingy with the protein. The seasoning, however, was uneven so parts of the chicken were bland and parts were flavored. The chicken was juicy. The cold brew the hubbie said was average. Was in the area and looked up quick lunch spots and tumbled across this place. Upon arrival we were not greeted. Maybe this is because they're going for a cafeteria vibe. Self order, self seating, and food gets brought out to the front for us to grab on our own. You order through a standing kiosk. I like how the kiosk menu has the photo with pricing. Which helps a lot! No one ever spoke to us or asked us if we had any questions. Everyone was just in the back as we could see through their kitchens open window. No one was up front the whole time. Maybe because we came for a late lunch around 2pm. We ordered and sat ourselves. Enough dinning space and very open. Place looks nice and updated but you can tell it's been there for a while. Their bakery side was completely shutdown with no food line production going on. We waited almost 20 mins for our food. While waiting a worker came out with drinks asking almost every table who ordered the drinks he had in his hand. Not sure what happened there. I can't recall but I believe we didn't get a buzzer we just had to go up and check if our food was done and or wait for an order call. I noticed a lot of fountain drink options were out of order as well. 2 out of the 5 so the options were limited. Now about the food! I really wanted to like it and I was so excited to try it. The good: I got the chic sandwich, eggy special (mashed potato and poached egg with chives in a jar with baguette bread), Vietnamese coffee and the matcha latte. The interior is trendy, boho-chic and super spacious. You can order a the counter or on the tablet like I did. You get a text when your order is ready. The fried chicken tasted like popcorn chicken from a boba shop (which I love). It had that Chinese five spice and cooking wine flavor and had some heat. It was moist, crispy and huge. Jt came with arugula which added a nutty balance to the fried chicken. The baguette for the eggy special was light and airy like a Vietnamese bạnh mi baguette. I've been to Eggslut in LA and other Egghead locations and this was definitely my favorite in terms of space and ease of access. The bad: The matcha latte was okay but I feel like matcha and coffee don't mix well together. The eggy special came with four slices of baguette but I wish there were more slices. I chose for my food to be for here rather than to-go but it still came in a stapled brown bag. I didn't care for either drink but the delicious food made up for the drinks. The interesting: The music was EDM remixes of various songs and was super blood pumping untz untz party it up-esque. With Egghead opening up locations all over the Bay, it's quickly becoming a must-visit destination for egg-thusiasts. We ordered a side of tater tots, the B.E.C., the scramble, and the Instagram-renowned chic sandwich. Their sandwiches are all inventive takes on the classic egg sammy; regardless of choice, though, I'm sure every offering is a culinary delight. The chic, in particular, was incredibly toothsome with its hunk of delicately spiced Taiwanese-style fried chicken. The classic scramble sandwich parallels the Eggslut's Fairfax in flavor and artery-clogging potential, but it's well worth the years it may shave off your life. The tater tots are also generous in portion and pretty classic: crispy exterior, supple and fluffy interior. No qualms with this place! Fast service and great food at reasonable prices. read more
