I can't believe this little gem has been in my neighborhood and I haven't come here in the six years that I've lived here! I'm honestly kicking myself for not trying it sooner. First off, the menu is massive--and I mean that in the best way possible. From a wide variety of appetizers and fresh salads to seven different bánh mì sandwiches (served with chips and a drink), the options just keep going. They also offer 19 different beef noodle soups and over 40 rice plates; additionally, there are vermicelli, fried rice, and vegetarian dishes. I haven't seen a Vietnamese restaurant with this much variety before--it was almost overwhelming trying to decide what to order! But let's talk about the real standout: the pho. Hands-down, this is the best soup broth for noodles that I've had. It was rich, comforting, and perfectly seasoned--I didn't need to add any hoisin, sriracha, or anything else. It was that good on its own. When my pho arrived, I noticed the noodles were served in what I can only describe as a "noodle ball." It looked like a compact bundle at first, but as I stirred it into the broth, it loosened and spread out beautifully. Such a small detail, but it made the experience feel unique. I did ask for the spicy sauces on the side, but honestly, I didn't even need them. The soup was so flavorful on its own that I just enjoyed it as is. I'm still amazed I haven't been here until now. The only downside? Even though they have AC, the restaurant still felt pretty warm--especially on a hot day. Needless to say, I was sweating while eating my hot bowl of pho. Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the South Bay! This place really stands out with its high quality ingredients and bold flavors. The owner Nga is really personable and nice as well. I always love their Vietnamese coffee which is super bold and strong. I can drink it over two days! This place is great if you're craving pho. Plenty of parking. Not really meant for large groups. It's not quick to get your meals because they cook it fresh. They even have a sign that explains this and I love that. So if you have a short lunch break, you're better off doing pick up. Staff is nice. Their Banh mi was delicious. I love their wraps too. I stumbled across Á Dông Pho while looking for a quick and easy lunch and they didn't disappoint with the BBQ Banh Mi. They assisted me right away and I got my order within 10 minutes. Although it was around 1, there were people coming in and enjoy their pho or any other dishes they offered. The ambiance is very clean, and decorated very nicely. Came to A Dong Pho & Coffee at my girl's recommendation. With us needing a catch up, why not do it over yummy food?? Located off of Cottle Rd, this restaurant is nestled in a bare plaza. Def not what I was expecting- with only a Baskin Robbins + a Mexican restaurant neighboring it. We were seated fairly quickly and although the restaurant wasn't busy, the flow of traffic only continued as we sat. The menu is plentiful and offers: appetizers, Vietnamese sandwiches, pho, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, and has a good amount of options for vegetarians. Great spot for pho in the Cottle area. My toddler liked her noodles which is more than I can ask for. I liked the flavor of their broth. I do think they gave me the wrong bowl of pho but I still ate it. My husband gave me a piece of tendon so I was happy with that. I would come back and try their vermicelli bowls next time. read more

I've only gotten takeout from here so I can't speak to the ambiance, but the food is great. I usually get the Bún Chả Giò Chay, which is vermicelli with vegetarian spring rolls. The spring rolls are hearty and flavorful, and pairs really well with the vermicelli. It also comes with the perfect portions of veggies and vegetarian fish sauce. I don't eat red meat so I love that they have a whole vegetarian section of the menu, which makes it really easy to find the items I can have. The shaking Beef came out on a sizzling platter and had a heaping amount of meat and veggies on it. The restaurant is on the smaller side and only 2-3 workers from what I noticed. The food came out within 5-10 minutes so service was extremely quick! I took one sip of the soup and my mouth dropped. It was hecking good like wow I was kind of blown away. It was so flavorful and delicious that I almost drank all of the broth at the end of the meal. The soup came with a variety of seafood and some slices of lean pork. The seafood was great and I loved the little quail eggs that came with it too. The lean pork slices wasn't my favorite so I made my friend eat it. Hands down some of the tastiest pho we've had in San Jose! The broth is super delicious && always CONSISTENT! Which is a big plus in our book. The Thai tea as well is perfectly balanced not too sweet & not too strong! They also needed something that was healthier due to their dietary restrictions. I have tried their pho before and for the south side it's not bad. I had their rice and short ribs. They were a bit skimpy on the serving and over served on the rice. The marinade was too salty. My friend and his mother enjoyed their dish, however both agreed the chow fun was too greasy. The pho itself was decent, but the service and policies were disappointing. I love making my pho spicy, but I was only given a tiny portion of sriracha. When I asked for more, the young lady at the front didn't bring any or refill my water. I had to go back inside to ask again, and she gave me another tiny portion without saying a word. It felt dismissive and inattentive. On top of that, they gave low portion of chicken, and charged me $3 for extra noodles. Most pho places I go to back home don't charge at all for extra noodles, so this felt unnecessary and stingy. Never got to try this spot when it was Sonny's Cafe, but there were lots of people coming in and out when we've passed by this plaza, so we finally decided to check it out. Solid Vietnamese food overall, and it's a great additionhe neighborhood. We'll be coming back! Ambiance inside is nothing special, and from the looks of it, not much was done to change the appearance from when the restaurant prior closed down as the floors still have some marks. Food took a while to come out, and we noticed some tables were served sooner for the same items despite coming after us. Vegetarian options essentially include tofu only (no mushrooms, etc.) PHO TAI NAM GAU: 4.5/5 Literally tasted like my mom's pho! You can tell the broth is homemade, and it's super tasty. Perfect balance between salty and sweet. It could've used a bit more nuoc beo (fatty stuff from the pho broth) to be a tad bit richer, but overall it was great and tasted light. There's a decent amount of meat as well! I forgot to ask for the rare steak to be on the side, but I would recommend doing that so it can be more tender. GOI CUON CHAY: 3.5/5 Decent goi cuon, and the peanut sauce was pretty good. There wasn't anything special to this though as the only vegetarian aspect was tofu. We wish there could've been mushrooms or something else to add to the protein. My mom got the pho rau cai with chicken broth, and she was pretty impressed!
