Disappointing breakfast this morning. It had been a few months since my last visit and I was looking forward to breakfast here this morning. However, the food did not measure up to past experiences. My wife had the French toast combo with scrambled eggs and bacon. I had the classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a pancake. The scrambled eggs were overcooked. The French toast was extremely poorly executed. Made with too thin of bread and an over the top quantity of cinnamon. About a two on a ten scale! Service was fair. Just really sad dining experience. I'm not sure if this is a one off or a sign of decline. Maybe an inexperienced or incompetent cook. I really don't know what to make of this place at this moment. read more

My friend and I came here on a Friday evening and it was mildly busy. They have a good menu to choose from and I especially like you can have breakfast all day. My friend and I both got the club sandwich. I got the potato salad and she for fries. It was very delicious and a hearty portion. I would definitely order it again. I also love the interior of this location. It's super retro and gives that true diner vibe. Our server was nice and attentive. This is my go to burger spot! I always order the same California burger with bacon and avocado. They do it right! The fry's are good doesn't taste frozen and yummy with ketchup and hot sauce. Service is pretty decent and the food comes quickly and hot. I love the menu it has different options from pasta, breakfast, steak, liver (not for me) something for everyone. The desserts are off the hook! You can see the cakes when you walk in and they are as good as they look! Be prepared to gain 20 pounds! He navigated 6 adults and two young children with ease making sure everyone's order was correct when they came out. i got pancakes and sausage from here. The pancakes were pretty standard thick buttermilk, a little more sour for my liking but i got it for pickup i don't know if they make it different. The sausages were delicious. Since it was pickup i can't comment on the service but they didn't give me syrup for my pancakes so i was a bit upset when i got it. This is a little restaurant/diner which is popular with the older crowd especially during the week. I was in the area for a test and was craving diner food. It wasn't busy and the menu wasn't overwhelming. Settled on coffee and the Santa Fe Crepes. Food came out quickly and fast. The serving size was pretty good. I walked and am immediately greeted by a server to seat me! A great start. Immediately get coffee. Not the worst coffee but I'm a snob. My server was prompt and courteous. My colleagues and I came here for lunch on 10/02/2022 after a recruiting event at the nearby Gavilan College Police Academy. It was busy when we walked in at around 1:30 pm. It took a few minutes before we were seated at a corner booth at our request. The interior was clean and bright, and the vibe and decors were old school 80s. It totally reminded me of diners of yesteryear. One of the servers came by and got us started with drinks. The menu featured a plethora of diner classics. After some deliberation, my colleagues got the California Burger, Morning Quesadilla, and the California Omelette while I opted for the Works Omelette. Our order took about 15 minutes to arrive. Portions were generous. My omelette had plenty of ham, bacon, linguica, and sausage in it and was tasty. The hash browns were nice and crispy. My colleagues all finished their food. I heard no complaints from them. We were pleased with the service we received. The owner and his staff were friendly and helpful. This was a great recommendation by the academy staff. Food is excellent, large portions, and comes out pretty quick. Coffee is great. Service is upbeat. During the weekdays, you'll mainly see lots of older people. It's the weekend, when it's a mixture of folks. I recently brought my SIL for brunch to celebrate her birthday. It was a weekday and we were probably the only young ones. We purchased a bottle of champagne and it was a good size for a good price. We enjoyed the song, the happiness, and the cake. This is always a great spot for brunch. We had a party of 5 and they literally threw our food at us and when we asked for little things like straws or water, they would heave huge sighs as though we were deeply inconveniencing them. During the chilly winter days, I wanted some comfort food and was craving a meatloaf meal. My boyfriend insisted we try this place, when I just wanted to go to Marie Calendar's in Sunnyvale for meatloaf. The drive was super long from west San Jose. The decor was a little outdated and too bright for a diner but the staff was friendly and attentive. I started with some hot chocolate with whipped cream, which was fantastic. My meatloaf dinner came with a cup of soup, which was the fava bean soup. It was alright, I expected the broth to be lighter in color and more bean based and less of a tomato based broth. Also, the soup would have been much better with pieces of cooked ham instead of bacon, which made the soup more salty and didn't care for the soggy bacon. My boyfriend's burger was fine but my meatloaf was not good at all. I asked for the brown mushroom gravy on the side and the gravy wasn't very good either. They tried to do too much with the gravy, as there was chunks of chopped carrots and the mushrooms were too big and not sautéed thoroughly enough, so you were biting into firm mushrooms. The meatloaf itself was super dried out and did not taste any onions or breadcrumbs in the meatloaf, instead it was heavy on the shredded carrots. Horrible meatloaf recipe and it was just over cooked and too dry! If you're craving comfort classics and moist meatloaf, this isn't the place! I wouldn't recommend this place as they don't use quality ingredients. Pay a little bit more and go to Marie Calendar's, or better yet, find a meatloaf recipe online and make it at home lol. Also the cherry pie tasted a little artificial as well, and I had to request our waiter to microwave the pie as the pie came out cold with a side of ice cream. It's hit or miss here. I order the potato skins with Extra crispy bacon. So far it's been 3 times they messed up my order. It takes about 10-15 minutes to make so when they mess up I don't have time to wait for a new order since my lunch is 30min. I only want the bacon extra crispy cause I don't like fat on the bacon. They also do the whole potato skin crispy as well which is not what I wanted either. I will not be returning for potato skins especially for the price and cannot make it right. As far as the customer service they are nice and if I had more time they would have corrected it but shouldn't have to be corrected. read more
