Staff was friendly, attentive, and punctual. I ordered two eggs, over easy, toast, home-fries, country ham, orange juice, and coffee. The eggs were cooked very well, gently... with the yolk molten and slightly thickened. The country ham was rich, and very salty. Exactly what one might expect. At first glance, the portion size might seem a bit puny- but trust me... it's just right for how rich this country ham is. You don't want to overdo it. The home fries? They were served piping hot, and the interior was nice and baked potato-like, but the outer crust... I don't know. The crust seemed a bit much, almost like they were lightly battered and deep fried. I would have preferred a more natural potato-like texture, but that's just me. The toast was your usual white bread, lightly buttered. I wish that other types of bread would have been offered- some wheat or rye would have been a nice touch. The coffee was fresh and hot- aromatic, and absent of the acidic flavor notes that accumulate when coffee has sat around for too long. The orange juice had a little bit of pulp and was syrupy. Not the best orange juice I've ever had, but serviceable. I'll definitely be back. read more

This place was a wreck. Walked in and there was a child running all throughout the store knocking over chairs and tables while screaming because he wanted cake. His mother I guess the waiter then proceeded to give him the cake and he sat quietly while he ate then proceeded to continue with previous shenanigans. The place also had a strong odor of cat pee. The food and service was terrible as well. I had something simple. Pancakes eggs and bacon. Pancakes were burnt along with the eggs and the bacon was under cooked. The tables hadn't been cleaned or wiped down in what seemed like a long time. Considering we were the only people in there I couldn't understand at all why they are still in business. My husband & I from DC were visiting my brother in Seaford, VA and stopped here for breakfast around 10:30am on our way to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science open house. This was take out. My husband came there placed the order and waited. He ordered the Dave special just like what we ordered last week. . last Sunday the food was perfect and delicious. The order was the Dave special eggs over medium, sharp cheddar not on the steak but plenty of sharp cheddar on eggs and on my potatoes along with onion on diced potatoes. I got a steak full of cheddar cheese on the gravy,yuck,. My eggs were over cooked and had american cheese over eggs instead of cheddar. ,potatoes had no onions or cheese on them. my husbandry's ordered a sausage and egg sandwich and this order came to over 21.00 dollars .Because we normally order the same item the total seemed to be high compared to previous visits.we live within one half mile and eat there all the time. This is not an example of your normal service or food. we have always loved the food and all the smiling waitresses. But I have a meal that was like nothing ordered . I do not like american cheese over my eggs, I do not like cheddar cheese on my gravy, I always order home Fry's with cheddar cheese over my over medium eggs. If this had been my first experience with Eggheads, I would never come back. We know how Great you food normally is and we love eating there. Since you have opened I know we have spend well over $ 1,000 and worth every bit but today it was a disaster. Love eggheads!! Crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, burgers, phillips cheese steak, ghost pepper Mac and cheese balls...omelet's that actually have extra cheese in them that I asked for! Can't rave enough about their food. My daughter loves their pancakes and my husband loves the fresh fish! I love just about everything on the menu. Don't even get me started on the desserts! I love eating out in a clean restaurant and this is by far the cleanest place I've ever eaten. And now about the service...they are all so friendly and efficient even when the place is packed out and a line out the door. Like I said, I absolutely love eggheads. My wife and I (and friends too) have been going to eggheads for a long while now. we have never had a bad meal or experience. The owner and staff are friendly and it shows they care. This weekend my wife and I got the Shrimp and Grits and since we are both Cajuns we have never ordered it (Virginians have difficulty preparing this dish properly) well.... This little mom & pop type restaurant has the BEST food. When we were Gloucester residents, we went weekly. We would even take our company from out of town there to eat. And even now that we have moved to the other side of the bridge, we still pay the toll just to go eat at Eggheads! Would highly recommend! read more

I'm torn about the review. The food is good, but the service is not good. I've been twice, ordered the same thing and the quality wasn't the same - the hash browns I ordered the first time came and were great, my friend got hash browns and had cooked onions (few) and looked yummy! So today I ordered the hash browns and said oh with the onions. I got hash browns with partially cooked and raw onions thrown on top of hash browns. They did agree didn't look right and brought me new plate; unfortunately I had finished my breakfast. The sausage gravy is yummy!! There were at least 7 people working but our waitress walked by several times and never refilled my coffee or asked how we were. Table next to us was complaining too, when they went and got their own silverware. I want them to succeed but they need to brush up on their customer service. read more

Went there for breakfast assuming that was their specialty. Horrible food and bad service. Country ham tasted like someone dumped a salt shaker in my mouth. Coffee was watery and had to ask waitress for refill, good servers keep your cup filled. Ordered extra egg with my meal , didn't get it. My daughter's sausage links on kid breakfast was totally burnt. She ask for toast, but got a biscuit instead.My wife's Cowboy omelette was flavorless. She asked to sample the gravy, thinking she may want biscuits and gravy, it tasted like a flour paste, definitely not homemade. This is definitely NOT a greasy spoon diner! This diner has a whole new menu of delightful super specials like, three to four different quiche to choose from in addition to the wonderful fresh local eggs, bacon and now on special days different kinds of biscuits and muffins to choose from. They also now have some mouth watering homemade right at eggheads desserts. Like New York style cheesecake, coconut lime pie, chocolate cream pie like grandma use to make and many others. They also have homemade soups, they change quite a bit so you really need to LOOK at the special board as you walk in. They have homemade Tomatoe Basil soup, people come from every where to eat, Cream Broccoli Cheese Soup and many others you never know what's on that special board. Not to mention the fantastic Seafood, Steaks and Burgers. Oh! Don't forget the Taco Salads and many types of wraps. The salads are great and the cold plates fantastic and present well too. The staff is wonderful and very down to earth. They will do what ever it takes to make your meal and dinning experience an excellent one. They even put candles on a piece of dessert for special occasion for customers. So, if someone has told you that this is not a good place to eat then they have really bad taste or they have not been there in quite sometime. I was very impressed with the amount of choices you had and the specials really get you. I eat there at least 4 times a week alone or with my husband and sometimes with the kids and all the grandchildren. We love Eggheads and you should too!
