I enjoy Eggs N Things in Valencia, but I believe it originated in my hometown of Ventura. I was glad to have an opportunity to sample the familiar fare at this location. We were able to have our large group of 5 adults and 3 kids seated fairly quickly. Service was on the mark. If you are unfamiliar with the drill here, everyone gets a free Swedish Pancake, a crepe-like goodie with powdered sugar and a bit of jam. Visited this establishment for breakfast for the first time and I have to say I think it's better than IHOP in many ways. The environment is very welcomin; family style. You get a crepe to start off with, which was way better than any I've had at IHOP or Dennie's. I ordered the sausage omelet with no cheese and fruit on the side. Normally I hold back from ordering any fruit because you never know if it's out dated, mushy or just plain gross. I was not disappointed withy order, it was delicious and will definitely go back. Food is great but customer service absolutely sucks. I call my orders in and get the rudest people almost every time.

This is the number one breakfast spot we go to. The chicken fried steak is amazing. The people are very friendly. I have never had a bad experience coming here. On the weekend you might wait a little while to get a table, but it is worth the wait. The complimentary crepe with every breakfast is another plus. Love this place!! read more

It's difficult to find restaurants these days who care about quality. I brought a group of people here for breakfast recently and had a great experience! I am a former restaurant worker who cares about quality in both food and service. For whatever reason most places don't know how to make over medium eggs. I've basically given up trying but I thought I give it one more try here. 2 of us asked for over medium eggs and much to our surprise they were perfect along with everything else. Our waitress was attentive and capable, very pleasant as well. The entire place was clean. Never had to ask for a coffee refill, someone was always there at the ready. This doesn't happen by chance, it's reflective of people who take pride in what they do. I don't live in Ventura but you can bet I'll stop in each time I pass through from now on. I have been going to this place since I was 14. A few weeks ago, my husband and I took his parents here since we've always loved them, along with my 10 month old son. The service started out horrible right away. Once I recieved my food, I found a spider in my food - a live one at that. After being extremely grossed out, we flagged down a server. All she did, was grab the plate without a word. Our server then came back about 5 minutes later with a new plate. There was no apology, or any other words said. Not a single one. I was of course too worried about eating my new plate and instead just ate off my husband's. At the end, we went to the register up front to pay and I asked to speak with the manager. I explained to him that I was very disappointed with the way the situation was handled and the lack of response even more so. The reply I got from the manager was even more shocking. He did go ahead and take off my plate from our bill right away however, the apology I was looking for? It never came. The only words the manager said was, "Ok, well I'll do this...." which was mumbled under his breath. The whole situation was made to make me feel like I had done something wrong. From a restaurant that should pride themselves in not only food but service, I was very disappointed. I know I will no longer refer them to any other relatives and friends that often come into town after this last visit. read more

Stopped in for breakfast, after being seated and getting coffee, the wait staff did not return. Waited about 10 minutes, then decided to leave. I will never come back. At the front counter, stopped to pay for the coffee and share my experience, the wait staff was ringing up the coffee when the manager overheard and waived the charge. Horrible service. I love eggs n things and my family has been going there for years. However, when I went today the manager actually asked my friend and I to leave. We had paid the check about ten to fifteen minutes before and we were just enjoying our coffee and chatting, as we hadn't seen each other in almost a year. I have never been asked to leave an establishment, no matter how many coffee cups I've lingered over. We arrived at 9:30 and we were asked to leave at 10:45. Never mind the fact that I waited 30 minutes to be seated. Yes I understand it's gets busy but this is not the way to go about solving that issue. We should have refused but we were so shocked at his request. I hope that the customer service improves here because I really do love this restaurant. read more

My wife had a Patty Melt with curly fries and I had Eggs Benedict and a fresh fruit cup. The Patty Melt had little to no seasoning and the onions were only half cooked. The curly fries were very good and served very crisp just as requested. The dish just lacked taste. The iced tea was good.0 The Eggs Benedict would have been much better if the ham was not so salty. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the yolks were soft exactly as they should have been. However, the food was just luke warm and was probably sitting in the kitchen for too long unheated waiting to be delivered to our table. The Hollandaise Sauce had a good consistency and taste, but sadly it was also not warm enough. The Fruit Cup was really excellent being freshly cut fruit and a very good selection. The coffee could have been stronger. The complimentary Swedish Pancakes which were served while we were waiting for our food were just too wonderful and that was a really nice touch. The service was friendly and extremely efficient and our server kept coming back to our table to chech on us. The decor is very warm, friendly and comforting and the seating areas were very clean and comfortable. This was our first time in this restaurant and I would cebrtainly try it again despite my comments, as they got some things right and a just few things wrong, however they do deserve another visit with perhaps some different menu choices and some specific instructions to our server. I must get a full serving of their Swedish Pancakes next time as they are a really special treat. read more

This place in inexpensive and the food is always great. We usually go on Sundays so we do expect a wait. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because when it is busy it takes them longer to come check on you if they do. I hate having to wave at people when I am in need of something( like a fork to eat, or a drink). They have great people working there and great food no complains! Well I guess Eggs n things is not a secret location. I eat here in the mornings for breakfast about twice a week. The food is good. The service is fast. And the location is right by the 101/126 on ramp. For about 8 dollars you get a very good meal. They do have an early bird special and a daily as well. This place was nice I have seen the adds in TV and decided to take my 1 year old for lunch. The food was better than IHOP but you can tell it is not made in house. I had the cheese burger and my girl had the chicken fingers. It was nice to have a selection of cheeses. The sides choices were awesome everything from soup and salad to fruit and three types of fries. The waitress was very nice and helpful until after the food came she did not come by but she was in the area helping other tables if I had needed her. Over all it was clean and friendly. Now, there is no wifi so not the best location if you need to get some work done before a meeting. I'd say it's $1-2 dollars overpriced for what you get w no wifi. But everything tasted great. My husband and I honeymooned in California 3 years ago... coincidentally his parents just moved to Montecito, so we were very happy to come back and visit. We went to Eggs n Things 3 years ago and I had ordered a California omlet. All I can say is, most amazing omlet I have ever had. The salsa, avocado, cheese and sour cream was delicious with the fluffy eggs. This time around I ordered it with mushroom. It was amazing!! The service is great, complimentary crepes are delicious and refreshing and their breakfast is some of the best I've had! Stopped for breakfast on a Sunday morning the wait was about 20 minutes. Pretty normal for just about any breakfast spot on Sunday. They get the tables turned around surprisingly fast though. Our waitress was really sweet and came to us right away to get our drink order. They serve everyone complimentary Swedish pancakes with blackberry jam while you wait. Which is pretty ingenious. Cures the hunger angst and makes you just a little more patient and less hangry. Pancakes were really good and the blackberry preserves were sweet but didn't ruin the appetite.I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with "gourmet"bacon, hash browns and an English muffin. My sunny side eggs were good just not runny so I'd probably consider them more medium than what I ordered. I didn't mind though. My daughter ordered the machaca breakfast with the home style potatoes. I regretted not ordering the home style potatoes which were really good. I tasted the machaca but it wasn't my favorite. I thought it was funny that they dubbed the bacon " gourmet". Don't get me wrong their bacon was good but I'd probably just say thick cut. I just thought it was a funny moniker. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and really refreshing. I'd come back again for sure but probably make a reservation. I saw several parties who called ahead and got to walk right in, much to the chagrin of those patiently waiting outside on the benches. No hate to them though they seemed to know better. If you are looking for a place like the Egg and Me, or just a nicer IHOP kind of place, this is one of those. I'm sure they use better ingredients because you can just taste it, and the swedish pancakes were quite tasty, and they don't tell you this, but you get a sampling of them for free. Nothing out of this world, and I'd go so far as to say their Eggs Benedict was lacking because they made it too tart and lemony, and I don't think they toasted the English Muffin, but overall it was a good breakfast, and they have some quite attractive waitresses here, too.
