So I tried it again. My last experience was horrible so I waited a few weeks and tried again. Service: she was new but she tried. For some odd reason our waitress was triple sat at the same time. She was obviously very new (different shirt) and you could tell by her not knowing the answers. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. However, while our waitress was talking to us our hostess interrupted her twice saying she needed to talk to her because it was important. Our waitress did the right thing and told her both times she would be there when she could. (Morning of 8/26). Food: The food was much better this time. I still dislike the potatoes. No seasoning. Just taste like dirty red potatoes. Other than that food was great. The bad: please tell the young man (only male server) to stop playing with his hair where the food is being served. And if he does feel the need, wash his hands. The guy non stops stands behind the bar playing with his combover thing he has going on. It's disgusting. The worst part about this experience was the "Founders Corn Beef Hash"..... It's literally canned corned beef hash that cost .99 at Kroger. No seasonings, no beef chunks, it was cat food. I prefer the coffee at Jacks or McDonalds over this, and that doesn't mean I am clueless about coffee. I am not a coffee sob I do appreciate high end coffee like Gold Coast and other locals. Food: it was good. The grits were a little runny for my preference but they still tasted good. I didn't not get the hollandaise sauce on it so I appreciate them customizing it for me. Drinks: I ordered coffee but then they didn't have a non-dairy option for creamer (not trying to be a pain, I'm just lactose intolerant). So instead I ordered the blueberry mimosa and it was really good. It definitely lifted my mood after waiting an hour to be seated. Service: our waiter was good, especially since the restaurant was really busy. The only thing that was an issue on this visit was the wait. I understand the wait time and we expected it. They have an item on the menu that is named ironically the same as my mother so when she visited Alabama I took her to Eggs Up. When the waitress arrived at the table my mom jokingly asked if she could prove that is her real name would her meal be free. My Mom asked what I expected and I'm honestly not even sure but SOMETHING. and it wasn't even hot enough to melt the melting butter I put on it. Dad got the French toast, 2 slices and bacon were no where near enough. We were originally thinking they would be thick but there were as thin as smushed white bread and overcooked. No, we did not have the chance to speak with management but after being there an Hour and a half you can imagine we were just ready to go. The coffee was good, the option for French vanilla creamer was a nice touch. We will be back I'm sure as we like to give second chances but pretty sure we won't order basic breakfast. Oh, & our server was amazing but ghosted us a little once the wait for food got long. Visited this new Madison restaurant for the first time this morning, July 25, 2020. Ordered the Patty O'Sullivan omelet (eggs stuffed with homemade corned beef hash and cheese) with biscuits (grilled) and cheese grits. Terrific! Even the coffee was better than most places. My wife very much liked the pancakes and bacon. Great service, super clean, and lots of uniquely interesting choices on its menu. Host stand forgot about us on the waitlist, after we checked in. They sat numerous parties ahead of us. When I reminded them we what been waiting with 0 people ahead they said "why didn't you tell me?" Well... that's actually the hosts job- Go seat and maintain the waitlist. I can't say food coming out as ordered was the issue this time. There currently is a sign next to the front door saying the restaurant is under staffed. It has been there a while with no issue for service until the last visit. Seat yourself sign was up in front of the door as you enter. There were 4 people outside of the kitchen. At least two people in the kitchen. The dining area was about 50% full at lunchtime and closes at 2 pm. I saw two servers running including to the table next to mine. We sat there for 15 minutes waiting at lunchtime and watching servers and 2 other people outside of kitchen. The server who visited the table next to us did not acknowledge or say hello to us. The rest of the four made eye contact several times but did not offer menus or drinks. How hard is it for any of the four to offer menus or drinks or to get manager to help? This place is severely mismanaged. Where is the manager to make sure people are welcomed, The staff has changed multiple times since it opened. I believe management is screwing something up or hourly compensation is not right? Where are the tips going? They are shoved in my face every time the bill shows up. I know in 10 plus times there that I have tipped about $8 each time even when food was delivered wrong. Understaffed is not the problem, but is the result of mismanagement. Using understaffed as cover up for mismanagement is sad. Management should be on the floor helping and doing whatever is needed during under work days. read more

From the outside it looks like just another strip mall restaurant, but upon entering the staff greet you with a warm and sunny disposition, even at 6:30 AM on a foggy Saturday. The menu lists a varied and unique array for breakfast, with everything from "The Classic" with eggs, sausage, toast and grits, to a shrimp and grits omelette! I had The Classic with coffee. The service was fast, but not pushy. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the grits were great. I also enjoyed the sourdough toast! The children's meals are over priced for the amount of food in my opinion. Coffee was warm; not hot. The floors were sticky and visually dirty. There were many (4-5) servers behind the counter not doing anything... could be cleaning the floor The bathroom was fairly dirty as well. I saw some good reviews and gave this place a shot. The servers were nice but the food was ok at best for us. The grits had no flavor and the eggs were bland. We had substituted for the ham and that was extremely dry and aggressively salty. It's like the salt that was supposed to be on both our meals went toward this one dried out piece of pig jerky. We told the waitress since it was inedible, and we left it after we took a small bite. However, they still kept it on our bill despite that. We dined in for a birthday brunch for my friend on Monday 10/10/22 I arrived shortly after my friends had been seated and was greeted by one sweet waitress who took my drink order and brought it back promptly. I proceeded to say excuse me miss I'm seated at the far table and would like to place an order so you won't have to walk back.
