I've been putting off trying this place for a while due to the mixed reviews I've read. My husband and I finals decided to go on Saturday morning for breakfast. We walked in door from the back parking lot and were seated immediately. Our waitress Angela was attentive and friendly. The menu is huge with lots of variety for breakfast. Combos, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, crepes. My husband got the Vasilis breakfast and I got an omelette. We shared the berry burst crepes as well. The menu states that they have famous hash browns. We got our food so quickly it was crazy!! Everything was delicious and cooked nicely. The crepes were like heaven. We also both ordered coffee and they have us a carafe for the table, which I loved because there's nothing worse than when the coffee is unlimited and they never come back. The inside is warm and welcoming and overall, everything was great. Will be going back to try the Strawberry Fields Crepes! read more

Our server was Gina and she was fantastic. She recommended the crepes, so we got a sweet, fruit-filled one with the custard. We devoured it. I only wish there were more custard! We also got eggs, home fries, corned beef hash, and a bagel. Our meals came out fast and were delicious. The hash had a lovely crust on it from cooking, and the home fries were classic and tasty. We've been here twice and both times had a great experience. Super friendly waitresses, fast service, and really good food. The pancakes are awesome, light and fluffy and so tasty that they don't even need much syrup ( I'm guessing they add a generous amount of vanilla and a bit of sugar). We've had no problems finding parking right on the street next to the restaurant and as for the neighborhood, it's no less safe than parking or walking on Elmwood. By the way, it's just a quick walk down from the Elmwood Village and far surpasses any of the better known breakfast places on Elmwood. Very cute decor as well. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is beautiful! The food was delicious! I got the eggs Benedict lox style and it was phenomenal! It had lox, red onion, cream cheese, eggs cooked over easy, and hollendaise sauce. It was amazing! It came with flavorful and crispy hash browns, fresh fruit, and applesauce. The toast comes with butter on the side so you can butter it yourself which I liked. The wheat toast was much thicker and I was expecting. The big kids breakfast was more than enough food for my son, although he did not like the sausage. They get an enormous pancake, an egg, a sausage or bacon, and toast. The best part about breakfast is that every customer gets a complimentary rice pudding! It's a decent size serving and comes with cinnamon and whipped cream! I got coffee and when my cup was almost empty the waitress brought over a small pot of it and left it at the table so I could refill as needed. The waitress was very nice and the service was great! We came in on a fairly busy Saturday morning at 10:30. There were 4 adults and my 2 children (this review has NOTHING to do with the kids as they were and are well behaved as were the other kids in the restaurant). Our waitress took our drink order and we received our drinks in a timely manner. While we were seated waiting to order, 2 tables near us returned their food and didn't order replacement meals. Both said the food was sub par and had been here before when they had experienced better. Both parties were disappointed. We hoped that our orders would not have any issues. Our waitress (who was busy) didn't get our order until 11am. Our food didn't come out until 11:40. It was, to say the least, underwhelming. I've never had runny potatoes until now. Everyone's potatoes were under cooked and runny. We ordered 2 eggs over medium and they were overcooked so the yolk was solid. I ordered the Americana- scrambles eggs, veggies and cheese (ordered without cheese because of a dairy allergy). I got a runny scrambled egg with a variety of uncooked veggies on top. The only thing the kids ate were the complimentary fruit skewers from our plates. The toast came out cold. Our waitress was so busy our drinks weren't filled in a timely manner. I think their kitchen was overwhelmed our their regular cook was away. I don't think we'll be returning. read more

Came here for breakfast and was very disappointed. The pancakes crumbled into pieces when I tried to cut them. They also had a "grainy" taste to them. My omelette was all vegetable and cheese and no egg. The home fries, key word fries, were anything but. They were just normal potatoes. The food is mediocre and overpriced. I visited with my husband and two very small children. Although I don't expect every place to cater to children, it was my first and only experience of someone being openly rude to my children, and to me for having birthed them and then attempting to feed them. Service was slow, when we asked for crackers, we were told they didn't have any. I asked if maybe they had crayons to keep my ravenous toddlers occupied without the use of an iPhone, and they said "we don't have anything to entertain children here." Fair enough. We walked there, so I would suggest packing a large box of quite child-friendly activities if you do choose to go. There was nothing above average about either. The reason we won't be returning ever to this place was the service. We waited for 45 minutes for the aforementioned breakfasts. The waitress was friendly, but walked by us innumerable times only once stopping to say "Sorry, hon, but you guys arrived at the same time as a big party." As if this was supposed to make anything ok. Nor did seating us facing a TV playing OAN (One America Network) engender healthy appetites. I had to choke down my eggs while watching "news stories" about how our president had solved the NFL anthem dilemma with his leadership. Had the food quality been more than average, or had the staff attempted to do something (anything) to make our wait more bearable, I would have been more likely not to stare at the nauseating propaganda on the TV, and more likely to consider giving this place another chance. We unfortunately had a terrible experience at this establishment. After being seated we placed our order in approximately 10 minutes. After that our server did not come over to check on us once or let us know they status of our food. We asked her about 35 minutes after our order was placed and we still had no food. She came back to tell us that another large party had slowed the kitchen up. After another 5 minutes she came back to tell us that our order had not even been started yet and was 2nd in line for preparation. This was a very disappointing experience especially after the waitress lied to us about the status of our food. This restaurant can clearly not handle large parties also while serving walk-in customers. We never once heard from the manager. Ownership should think about a leadership change and ensure that servers communicate the status of orders. Unfortunate because it seemed like a good place to eat. We ended up leaving after 50-60 mins of sitting around and drinking waters. read more

Looks like I'm going against the grain in giving a poor star rating, but I honestly was so disappointed with me and my husband's breakfast. THEE only reason we went here was for him to get his ever desired banana pancakes and for me to get a crepe that was advertised to be custard filled. (RIP 2017 Bob Evan's kick butt custard filled crepes that were deleted from menu. WHYYYY) Sadly, my crepe was served to me with no custard inside. Because they had to scramble and shove a ton of bananas in my crepe for filling, it caused them to run out of bananas..... so without warning or heads up they just brought my husband plain pancakes and said they used his bananas in my crepe. Now, if this was the only negative thing about our experience I wouldn't have felt the need to write such a review as this. I'm not a complainer. But unfortunately, his over easy eggs were cooked over medium, my bagel was cold even though it was at one point toasted (maybe 20 mins ago,) and we waited an extremely long time for our food and by no means were they crowded or busy. I'm a little bias with this restaurant simply because it is at my corner and really convenient. The breakfast and lunch are consistently good, and the prices reasonable. The ambiance of the place is cute and the staff are really nice! OK dinner on the other hand, the food is good but they do not have a cork fee and you can bring your own wine. You can't beat that! Also, they give you samples of their rice pudding which is terrific! I realize it is a casual,family restaurant but I wish that the lighting was a little dimmer at night. I think it would give it more ambiance. It is fine for the day but at night it is too bright! I am glad it moved into Kenmore though and will definitely go back on a regular basis! read more

Stopped by to see the café portion and learned that the hours are "hit or miss," meaning they cannot guarantee it will be open at any time (not the best for people who aren't looking for a full meal, just a coffee and a place to sit). The service was great, very friendly and apologetic about the café situation. The food was excellent but not as described - there is a picture of the avalanche french toast in the menu that shows it covered in strawberries and other berries, it was actually one strawberry and a lot of melon instead of berries, which was a disappointment. There is another review with a picture of it that is more accurate (though that person had twice as much fruit compared to what I received - I think they just throw on what they have). The actual french toast was good, I would go back and order something else. I think it will be 5-star once they work out some of the new-location quirks. read more

By far, this is the worst service I have ever received. I don't think I saw one server smile. I actually halfway through my cold meal, figured out my server was the owner. She was rude and acted as if she was doing me a favor by taking care of me. Not only did my food take 25 minutes to come out when the restaurant was no where near busy, but it was cold. As if it had been sitting there for five minutes. My drink was empty for about 15 minutes until I asked another server for more sprite, who also was very rude. This place either needs to change their attitude or they will be out of business very soon. I am all about helping family owned places but I will never return to this restaurant. read more

Why the hell R whiners writing awful reviews about this restaurant? They must be 25-45 yr old entitled morons who normally R soooo occupied w/ their cell phones that amazingly they have time to pay any attention to their food & service. And they certainly can't be eating in the place my wife & I dined @ Nov. 12 (breakfast), 13, (lunch) & 14 (diner). The food is reasonably priced (cheap) & plentiful-to plentiful! The menu choices R creative & EXTENSIVE. Fish fries (about 10 choices) were mostly $10.99, a real deal in the Buffalo area. The haddock was tasty, the coleslaw outstanding & the fries perfect. All food was served HOT! On these 3 occasions we had 3 different servers & they were all pleasant & attentive, but not overly so & annoying. (Maybe the whiners should have servers pander to them like their moomies did?). What other Buffalo area restaurant encourages diners to bring their own wine, provide glasses & NOT charge corkage fees? This restaurant is a needed Kenmore dining GEM. A couple of days ago I wrote a review about Vasilis Express on Elmwood come to find out that they opened up a sit-down Diner in Kenmore. It seems to me this may be why the Express locations are not what they used to be the restaurant is very pleasant on the inside the decor is excellent. It would seem to me that a lot of vasilis time has been put into this location from the banquet hall that used to be to what it is today is a huge difference.This place is a step from his other locations very clean .This is how i remember all of vasilis restaurants being at one point in time .Now its time to order the waitress was very friendly and helpful in making our decisions on what to order i went for breakfast the big vasilis is what i choose my wife got a order of crepes I think they were strawberry banana hazelnut. Yes we were waiting for our food we chatted with the waitress a little bit she has been with them since this location is open she is very pleasant and friendly and had a very nice attitude. I was pleasantly surprised when she left a pot of coffee at our table for us to share I haven't seen this in a restaurant in Buffalo before. When the food arrived I was shocked at the size of the plate that my breakfast was on. What has been so far a pleasant experience now goes downhill I remember vasilis having the best home fries in town what I got today was greasy non seasoned potatoes sausage that wasn't cooked in the middle and eggs that were not over medium like I ordered. My wife seemed to enjoy her crepes except for the cream in them seem to be a little off when the waitress came back to check on us I told her about about my breakfast she asked if she could get me something else I decided to pass if they couldn't get it right the first time what makes me think they're going to get it right the second time I told her. She apologized and asked again if there was anything she could do I happened to ask her if this was vasilis that used to have a restaurant on Kenmore Avenue she said yes. Then I explain to her what had happened to me the other night on Elmwood and I told her that I decided to come here to see if it was any better the restaurant itself is amazing and the waitress staff seems very friendly. easily the most horrendous dining experience my family has had. we went here for my mother's birthday and were excited to try it out. i believe our servers name was melissa and she was quick to take drink orders, which was nice. when she returned i asked for a straw for my orange juice and she gave me one. after my parents asked for a straw as well she said "ok." she left the table and returned a couple minutes later and asked if we were ready to order, not bringing any straws. we said we needed more time and she said no rush, but returned to the table twice within a two minute span asking if we were ready. feeling rushed, we ordered. my mother got the lox omelette, my sister got a waffle with fruit, my father got an omelette (unsure which one), and i got crepes with fruit on top. after ordering my father asked politely if the server could bring some straws out, she quickly answered "i have them right here. i have a lot to do so i forgot." he said it was alright and she walked away. our food came out quickly, which was nice until we started eating and realized why. melissa delivered my fathers plate first, saying she dropped the fruit skewer that was supposed to come with it and "i guess i can get you another if you want to have it." after saying yes very politely, our server said "ok." my crepes were cold, and had 3 small pieces of fruit on top. my mother's omlette had big chunks of unevenly dispersed cream cheese throughout the omelette and it was also cold. my sisters waffle was crunchy and cold. after we all finished eating the server dropped off my dads fruit skewer which had 3 pieces of fruit on the long skewer. my family was so hungry that we ate our food despite it being disgusting. the server dropped of the check without asking how the food was, and told us not to rush, but continued to walk back and forth watching our table waiting for us to pay. never in my life have i had a server give attitude to my family, especially without good reason to. after tip, the total was $80 and some change, a huge waste of money. definitely will not ever be returning. read more
