Food is excellent, my favorite is the braised short ribs, it comes in a bowl with house made roasted re potatoes that are so soft and creamy, a hearty portion of short rib cubes cooked to perfection then topped with two poached eggs. All those flavor together is pure heaven. My wife and daughters love the churro waffle, tres de leche French toast as well as the chicken breast with waffle. Now for the bad stuff, the churro waffle is only one waffle, good luck finding a parking space., and long line because the food is soooo good as my wife says. And finally a tip, go during th e middle of the week if you can, almost no line or wait. On nice days seating outside is best, it's sorta zen with a water feature running thru it. Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen is such a special outdoor weekend find tucked away on Shattuck Ave. ~ because the chatter has spread, I would recommend coming close to opening (9:30a). For our party, the experience and brunch was well worth the short wait. We had strollers and kiddos with us, but the service was exceptional finding us a spot/table where everyone and everything could fit with plenty of space/comfortability. The menu is so fun and creatively done. I did the Cal bene (bacon, avo, tomato, hollandaise) and instead of the traditional Benedict on English muffin, they do fresh and local sourdough. Nice touch! The Eggy's Chorizo Hash, Churro Waffle, Eggy's Tres Leches French Toast, and breakfast cocktails highlight a few items had. They also have a cool juicery on the bottom level with fresh juices and coffee concoctions including the special Horchata Oat Milk Cold Brew. A fun addition if waiting in line for a few! They did brunch right. Crispy taters, hearty and delicious plates, beautiful presentation, and truly great people who care deeply about their community and what they're presenting. It had been on my (literal) list to try since watching the Check Please Bay Area where it is featured and finally made it in last weekend! As others have noted, it definitely is a busy brunch spot. We arrived a little before 11 on Sunday and had about a 5 minute wait to order. When we left around 11:45, the line had grown exponentially; I'd guess maybe a 45 minute wait. They have their system down for getting you seated after you order (don't leave the line to grab a table), the staff in circulation is friendly and quick, and the food is so fun! We shared the chilaquiles verde and the churro waffle; both very good and I would certainly order next time, because there will be a next time. Just a note that the verde is supposedly the more mild of the two options but the spice accumulated quickly even eating only half the order. Next time I'd also like to try the hash I saw on neighboring tables, it looked really good. read more

If I could give Eggy's 10 stars, I would. This restaurant was so good that I had to come twice! On Friday 7/18/25, I had the beautiful and equally delicious Treś Leches French toast with scrambled eggs with cheese and turkey bacon as sides. Our wait Jio, was not only handsome with excellent service but prompt with bringing out our food. While dining, I sampled my friends Chilaquiles Verde and it stayed on my mind the rest of the day. On Saturday, 7/19/25 I was back for my own order of Chilaquiles Verde. During this visit I the owner sat and spoke to me, chatted with my seat neighbors and met two college students. My parting gift was a chorus of "byes" from the lovely staff at the restaurant. To summarize, this has been THE BEST dining experience I've ever had. This place has been saved in my Yelp for a year and I'm glad I got to finally try it out! Food is tasty, vibes are fun, and the line does move fast. Ideally, get there around 10am and you don't need to wait too long (and this was on a Sunday). I thought this was a sit down restaurant but it's actually a order up front before your sit down which makes it easier if you are splitting the bill. I would recommend their potatoes cuz they're super tasty and the benedict is made to perfection. Usually, the bread gets all soggy because it's on an English muffin but this is on sourdough (I believe) and is toasted to the max so that the hollandaise sauce can essentially make it "soggy" (as in makes your bread chewable). read more

I've been here multiple times because the food is good and the outdoor ambiance is nice. It's a little pricey ($20-25 per item), but pretty standard for brunch spots. They make you pay and tip upfront before seating, and recently after I ordered, I noticed they walked away with the tip screen and didn't give me a chance to make my selection. Then I later noticed that a tip had been added without my consent. I brought it up and asked them to remove it, but they claimed that's what I selected and signed for, which wasn't true, and said they couldn't undo the charge? Then the staff members argued with me, which felt like an intimidation tactic to keep the tip. They kept saying they provided a service and were entitled to it. All I got was water, my order taken, and food dropped off, the bare minimum and irrelevant to them self tipping. After pushing back, they did give back the tip but in cash and it was clear they didn't want to. Adding a tip without consent is fraud regardless of service quality, and them arguing about their entitlement to it was very dishonest and sketchy. read more

Came here over the weekend not knowing what to expect. Saw the longest line ever and just stood in it. I wasn't sure if I had to walk to the front to put my name in, but figured everyone was standing in line for a reason. I was near the entrance of the building (it shares other eateries on the bottom floor) and it took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the front of the line. - You order at the counter (which can take you over an hour to get to) and they'll give you a number. - Once you order, you find a seat. They have mostly outdoor seating, but they have a few tables inside too. - The food comes out FAST! - Dog friendly - Not that great for big groups since it's somewhat open seating and I can only recall 2 tables that could accommodate 5+ people. I got the chicken and waffles and I was really impressed by their waffle! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It was really my favorite part. The fried chicken (which was likely pounded out breaded breast) was just okay. The portion is deceptively filling. My bestie got the brunch burger without the bun. She was able to decide the cook temp on the burger and the garlic fries weren't super garlicky (which I appreciated) and had slices of cheese, which was a nice surprise. It was a gorgeous Sunday when my bestie and I ventured to Eggy's and the weather was PERFECT. The line and the wait IS LONG, but is it worth it? The line was moderate, from line to having food on our table probably took less than 30-minutes. While in line, the server came around to take drink orders. That was pretty nice and made our wait less long. We ordered the cal Benedict and tres leche French toast. Both were excellent. I have to give special mention to the French toast. The texture of the bread was so good. It was soft, chewy, and moist, and yet it wasn't soaked that it became soggy. Came here on a Saturday for brunch. Boyfriend found it on Google looking for brunch spot. We got there around 11:50 and the line was really long, almost by the end of the walkway to the door. We stayed and wait bec the line looked quick. One hour later we finally reached the counter to order our food. We ordered the chilaquiles rojo (this is really good but it is really spicy as the menu said. The flavor is good though and it's very filling), short ribs hash (this is super tasty too. Finally got around to trying Eggy's and it didn't disappoint! My friend and I waited about 30 min on a busy Sunday afternoon to get in for brunch. Fortunately when we were welcomed in, our orders were taken immediately. Staff moved quickly and were friendly. We ordered the following to share: - Chicken & Waffles: Delicious! Chicken was crisp and well seasoned; waffles were nice and soft. - Chilaquiles verde: Rich flavor, chip portions were great and the blend of pickled onions, Queso fresco, jalapeños, and everything in between was lovely. My friend is vegetarian and this was such a good meal! - Oskie Sandwich: The caramelized onions on this sandwich was *chef's kiss* - Dirty horchata: Yummy - had a good creaminess to it! Chicken batter fell off the wet chicken, and waffle was dry and grainy like it came right out of the freezer. Beef patty with egg dish was salty and oily. One thing I liked there was the drink and the servers, they were wonderful, helpful, and kind. You order up front and sit yourself but one of the waiters helped an elderly group by taking their orders for them. Great to see such great customer service in this area. read more

I also ordered with a side of bacon that was cooked just like I like it and wasn't overly crispy. Came here for breakfast on Valentine's Day & there was already quite a line. The vibes were great though & it seemed to move quickly so I didn't mind. The area this restaurant is located in is super cute & the restaurant itself gives hidden quirky garden on the outside but trendy brunch spot on the inside. The patio area is lovely & I would've sat there if we didn't have our huge stroller with us. The indoor part of the restaurant is pretty small & the music is pretty loud so this is something to be mindful of if you're out with small children or babies. The service was quick & efficient. My only complaint is they had a Valentine's Day menu so you couldn't order off the normal menu. Kind of a bummer if you were looking forward to eating something particular & there was an entirely brand new menu just for that day. I ended up ordering steak chilaquiles & my partner ordered the short rib hash but with scrambled eggs instead of poached. Omgggggg!! I cannot stop thinking of these chilaquiles. The chips were perfectly crisp, the beans were delicious & hearty, & the salsa gave the most perfect acidic punch that uplifted the entire dish. The steak was great but to me the actual chilaquiles were the star of the show. I tried my partners short rib hash and it was super flavorful & delicious. Cannot wait to come back here. We just moved to the East Bay and found out about Eggy's on Yelp. We stopped by on Saturday for brunch but the line was so long we decided we would try again on Sunday and get there right at opening time. At 9:36 am on a Sunday there was already a line (but it moved quickly!) I realized it's because you order right when you enter at the counter then find your seat. Even though you order at the counter, the staff regularly checks in throughout your meal and is so kind! Here's what we ordered: Birria dip sando - I really hadn't seen any reviews for this item (just the tacos) but we ordered it anyway and it rocked my world. The meat was so tender. The aioli they add to the sando was so good. The consumé was perfect. My only notes is maybe the bread? Like it got a little too soggy. But it still worked and I can't wait to come back here and eat it again! Breakfast burrito - it was yummy! All the elements were good but I think I just kept comparing bites to the birria sando. Churro waffles - they were crunchy, buttery, and perfectly coated in cinnamon sugar. Truly a perfect execution of a churro made into a waffle. The chicken was tasty and all fried, and the waffles didn't hold up well (fell apart and dry); and hash was a disappointment as the potatoes were soggy and greasy and chorizo was poorly fried. Food looked better than they tasted. We ordered 2 coffee, but only received one. Service staff said we were only charged for one. So, I asked for it and never showed up. Had to ask a second time. We requested to be seated at another table, and wait staff said he was saving it for a larger group. 2 minutes later, he seated another 2 guests. Poor service.
