DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WAIT!!! Ok, let me break this place down for you. When I first showed up, the line was scary long but we were not in a rush so I said, let's wait it out. Now this place operates like the new concept restaurants are beginning to follow. You get in line, you order, and then you are seated after you get your number. Please note, YOU CANNOT SAVE A TABLE UNTIL YOU HAVE ORDERED. Also, I recommend seating outside because inside was super loud. Ok now that the logistics are out of the way, here is the really good stuff. Their Huevos Rancheros are absolutely amazing. I am so glad that's what I chose to try because seriously, they were sooo good my husband was jealous he didn't get them lol. The Tres Leches French Toast, also amazing and it's a HUGE serving so be share:) The overall ambiance was cool, food was great, the service, let me tell you, the service was some of thee best I've ever seen. Eggy's offers both indoor and outdoor dining. This a very solid place for those that want to dine in a garden oasis - very pet friendly and you will still be served by the staff. The line to order was very long. Seating could be limited - you cannot "reserve" or sit in an empty space until you have ordered your food. Technically this "rule" wasn't apparent, but the staff will tell you to get up and give up your seat for those that have ordered. This is a great way to control the seating arrangement for a limited space with lots of customers. The food was pretty solid - a bit on the pricier end. I ordered the steak and eggs. Medium steak, but was a bit overcooked and needed just a tad bit more salt. I like that when I asked for scrambled eggs, they made it omelette style. I went here on a Saturday lunch and it was packed. Took about 15 min in line before being able to order but the food came fast. Parking was tough - street parking only in a very busy street.
My friends and I stopped by for brunch at Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen on a Sunday evening and it was busy as it gets. The line of 30+ people was wrapped far down the ramp. I was worried that the line would take a super long time, but shockingly, the wait was "only" 30 minutes or so before we were able to place our order, and another 15 minutes before we received our food. Overall, I found the food at Eggy's to be good, but pricey -- consistent with any bunch spot in the Bay Area. I ordered the Oskie breakfast sandwich and thought it was a solid breakfast sandwich. There were two thick pieces of bacon in the sandwich that were cooked neither too crispy, nor too soggy. The fried egg had a gooey, runny yolk which added richness to the sandwich. Definitely a messy eat, so you'll may want to have a few extra napkins nearby. The sausage patty was well seasoned and hash brown was super crunchy -- albeit a bit oily. The fruit salad on the side was a refreshing way to balance out the heavy sandwich. My wife ordered the birria tacos and I thought they were shockingly good. The shell is deep-fried to be extra crispy and the consume carries a lot of deep chili and beef flavor. There's generous amounts of braised beef in each taco. The meat is fall apart tender, and has a good balance of lean and fatty parts. I like that lime wedges are included on the side to add a pop of freshness, as well as the onion and cilantro garnishes. The three included with an order are more than enough for a meal, even for those with large appetites. While food was solid, service was lacking. For example, if you order coffee, coffee is supposed to come with one included refill. However, at no point during our meal did we see any of the staff members walking around to tables to top folks off. Overall, I got the impression that the floor staff here are stretched super thin, are doing too much, and as a result, have no capacity to check in on diners. In terms of atmosphere, the indoor seating area is super loud and floors are insanely slippery. Be incredibly careful walking around indoors or you might find yourself making an unexpected trip to the ER. Overall, despite all the aforementioned negatives, Eggy's is still one of the better brunch spots I've visited in Berkeley. I really appreciate that they have menu items not typically found at other brunch spots.
Finally was able to eat here No line on a Tuesday around 11 am Customer service is good Cashier was patient and friendly We were able to sit inside and watch a soccer game (FIFA) I ordered the braised beef hash $29 it was mostly potatoes and bell peppers see pictures Friend ordered the chicken and waffles and he did enjoy his meal said the chicken was well seasoned and tender Mimosa is $12 each There ie a 3% surcharge regardless of your method of payment (see receipt) Parking is street parking only and you need to pay to avoid a ticket .... Would I come back here again maybe But I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to do so
Eggy's is such a great brunch spot. Everything came out hot, fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor. One thing we really appreciate is the pay-first, then eat concept. It keeps things moving and makes it easy to head out when you're done. Every time we've visited there's been a line, so that seems to be the norm. We stopped by around 1:45 p.m. this time and only had a short wait, which didn't bother us at all. My husband and I ordered the tres leches French toast and omelette, and both were excellent. The French toast had a beautifully golden exterior with thick challah bread. I usually prefer a more custardy center, but I didn't mind that it was a bit drier because the berries, compote, and glaze brought everything together and balanced the dish nicely. The omelette was a standout. The eggs were cooked beautifully and filled with well-seasoned peppers, onions, mushrooms, and creamy goat cheese. The house potatoes were crispy, flavorful, and seasoned just right without being overly salty. Some bites had a little more bite to them while others were soft and tender, which made them even more enjoyable. 10/10 would absolutely come back.
Been on my radar for awhile, tried once with my husband, but the line was out the door on a Sunday around noon (did not expect any less). Finally got to try it with a friend, and we made sure to come early in case there was a line. Went in at Saturday a little before 11am, and waited about 15 mins in line before ordering. Ordering seemed a bit chaotic and rushed even though we knew exactly what we were ordering. It was just the vibes that we got, hurry up and tell me what you want because I have many other things to do while I take orders between that. After you order, they tell you where your table is. Overall, the restaurant has 3 seating areas. One smalk area inside where you place your order, outside in a courtyard like space, and outside upstairs They currently share the outside space with the other businesses. We got seated outside/upstairs. It was a gorgeous day, so we did not think anything of it, but our table did not have an umbrella for shade, so we started burning up after only 2 minutes of sitting directly under the sun. We looked around and saw a few tables finishing up, so we asked if we could be moved. The worker was so nice, he completely understood and agreed to move us once he clears the tables. A few different people got seated at the same table after, and no one survived. Every party that got seated there would stand up after minutes and ask to be moved. Luckily, the worker informed us that they will be moving down the block next week, so it should no longer be a problem. The ambiance is very cute and lively for friends to get together for brunch. Families can come too, but I cannot imagine coming here with my kids. The food on the otherhand was just all right. We were really looking forward to a delicious meal, but we were a bit disappointed. Yelpers rave about how amazing the food is, but the only dish we liked was the birria. It was juicy, tender, flavorful, and crispy. It was the first thing to come out, so we were excited for everything else. It just went downhill from there. The short rib hash was tender, but the flavor just was not great. We asked for extra crispy potatoes, and they did not deliver. The meat was saucy, but it just did not do anything for us. The famous Tres Leche French toast was dry. It felt like we were eating bread smothered in sauce with fruits, rather than bread thats been soaked. If it was soaked, it would not be dry in the center. Garlic fries were also okay, more on salty side. We also wish they were more crispy. We originally said we would come back to try the other dishes that we could not get because there was only 2 of us, but we are having second thoughts now. Definitely would not go out of my way to come again, but would give it another try if I were in the area and there was little to no line.
This is easily one of the best breakfast spots I have ever experienced. The atmosphere is welcoming and tranquil, creating the perfect setting to start your day. As a family-owned business, they have truly mastered what guests look for when dining out--not just great food, but a complete experience. Every detail reflects care and intention. I will definitely be returning.
Came here with a couple friends on a Saturday for brunch. The entrance is a bit hidden off Shattuck. The line was pretty long, we probably waited for at least 20+ minutes, but the line area is nicely decorated. Kind of a bustling chaotic vibe. You pay at the counter before seating yourself. I tried the breakfast sando, which was tasty for sure but also heavy/greasy. The consensus around the table was that the food was generally pretty heavy. Also worth noting, the waffles that came with the chicken and waffles dish tasted fried (almost like a donut), which was surprising. My dish came with a fruit cup to kind of balance out the grease, which was nice. I'd say it was a solid brunch but I wouldn't go out of my way to wait in line for it again, probably. They were also blasting club-adjacent music which made for a weird brunch vibe.
An incredible brunch experience! Eggy's is tucked away down an alley on Shattuck, blink and you'll miss it. I loved the ambiance of walking through the outdoor seating which if full of plants and a small water founts as we lined up and waited to order. The staff run like a well oiled machine throughout the hustle and bustle of the weekend brunch hours. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes and the Fried Chicken Bene to share between us. Both of our dishes were so delicious. I love the tortilla chips they use in the chilaquiles, it soaks up the tomatillo sauce and yolk from the eggs so well. It is incredibly flavorful and a great portion size. The house potatoes served with the fried chicken benedict were the perfect accompaniment, the chicken was crispy, and the poached eggs were runny just how we like it! We left this meal feeling very satisfied and I hope I get to come back again (:
Such a cute brunch spot!! I came here with my husband and toddler on a Thursday around noon. You order first and then find a table. It was pretty packed but thankfully we were able to snag a table inside. The food didn't take too long to come out. We got the Tres Leches French Toast and Braised Short Rib Hash. My toddler loved the french toast because of all of the berries that came with it. It was tasty but like other reviewers mentioned, the berry compote overpowered the tres leches. The short rib hash was decent but not worth the price point. The food we ordered didn't satisfy us as much as we were hoping it would. I give the food 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 stars because of the beautiful ambiance.
Came here on a Saturday, I'd advise to come early because the line gets super long. Ate upstairs, the ambiance is super chill. Service was excellent and attentive! My friend and I ordered the steak chilaquiles verde and tres leches French toast. I forgot to take a pic of the French toast- but both was 5/5. The steak was cooked perfectly, presentation was pretty, and it all tasted so good together. The French toast with berry compote was super yummy and balanced. Not too sweet. My friend and I also got a bottle of champagne to make mimosas. We had the guava, mango, and cranberry (I think I didn't taste this one) on the side in little glasses I love guava but the mango was the best flavor! I would recommend this place for the service and especially the food! I want to come back and try more.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Such a vibe. The line is long and I wish we could do reservations but it's first come first serve and you order first then find a seat which they made it work out seamlessly! Steak and eggs were amazing. I'd get it again. Poke nachos is a MUST. Pass on the French toast And I love the outdoor/patio vibes. But heard they're relocating!!!
This was my first time at Eggy's and it was wonderful. Arnold was helpful from the beginning to end of our dining experience. He was attentive, kind, helpful, and went above and beyond for us. Andre was great as well. He was patient and even brought us a churro waffle for a misunderstanding with our table. Overall the atmosphere, food quality, and service were impeccable, I can't wait to come back!

Tip: 1) Parking can be difficult. I'd suggest parking in the residential areas (free parking) 2) Wait on the weekend can be quite long. We waited ~40mins. However I came with multiple friends and we got to catch up on life. I've been to several other brunch spots in Berkeley but a friend recommended this place and I am so glad I got to try out this place. Hot take, but I think Eggy's is probably one of the best brunch spots in Berkeley hands down. Staff was friendly and quick to get all of our orders in. Given the long line, the staff were working extremely hard to clear tables and to move the line along. Below is an outline of what we ordered: Tres leches french toast: 5/5, these were outstanding! I've yet to see these at any other establishments. They were not overly sweet, and the french toast still held their shape well despite drizzled in the tres leches sauce/syrup. The fruits added a great refreshing touch. MUST TRY!! Chilaquiles: 5/5, i've been to several parts of Mexico for my travels and these are some of the best chilaquiles i've ever had. Upon arrival to the table, the tortilla chips still held their texture so well. With each and every bite, there an element of crunchy, savory, and spicy; essentially a flavor bomb with every bite. These were so addicting. Chicken and waffles: 4.5/5, probably overshadowed by the other two listed above, but still great! I'd recommend sharing "family style" with several other friends so that you can try a bunch of dishes. Drinks: Mimosas paired well with the dishes as well as the dirty horchatas. Our friends told us about the place so we finally tried it. It's in Berkeley so we figured it'll be busy and take awhile to be seated. We didn't want too long to place our order, maybe like 25min. We went on a Saturday and got there around 10:15 am and there was alot of people eating already. It's a place where you order and pay first then you go look for a table or one of the servers will tell you where a table is available. We sat outside which was nice. They have indoor seating also. Amazing American breakfast in a lively, cute environment. Eggy's has been on my list for a while and lived up to my expectations. To preface, there's a long wait on weekends. My friends and I waited around 40 minutes and I'm glad we did. We ordered the Tres Leches French Toast, Oskie Sando, and Jamon Omelets. My favorite was the Jamon Omelets. The omelet was paired with some of the best home fries I've had. The Tres Leches French Toast was less sweet than I expected but I liked that. It wasn't the best French Toast I've ever had but still good. Wonderful service. Food was ready fast. Servers constantly checked in. Also, I think the outdoor seating is cuter than the indoor seating. I'll definitely come back again to try other items on the menu. However, I probably would not wait over 40 minutes to eat here in the future. (I see potential for 5 stars but my experience did not blow me away) read more
In the Berkeley area after a night out craving brunch. We saw Eggys nearby so we stopped by after having heard good reviews from the place. Fried Chicken Bene (not pictured): This was probably the most anticipated item but ended up being out least favorite item. Classic bene, great seasoning and flavor. However the chicken was a little overcooked and dry. 3/5 Tres Leches French Toast: A solid french toast but we didn't really taste the tres leches flavor. Toast was also a little too thick for our liking but still had that crispy exterior and soft buttery interior. Fruits were also so fresh. 4/5 Birria Dip Sandwich: This was an unexpected gem. The birria was extremely well seasoned, saucy and probably the best birria I've ever had. I usually skip on most consome bc it's too light or overly salty but this was one was just perfect and rich in flavor. I slurped that soup up. On a torrential East Bay morning, my friends and I decided on a whim to forgo our usual breakfast spots and try somewhere new. We chose Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen based on its high Yelp ratings. I imagine that on a typical Saturday morning, parking would be a challenge, but the heavy rain made it effortless. It was also a pleasant surprise to see that the nearby parking offered a three-hour maximum, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely breakfast without rushing. The oval, hobbit-like entrance immediately set the mood. It reminded me of the circular architecture of Chandrila in Andor and filled us with a giddy, unexpected anticipation that we were about to have a special experience. We arrived at 9:24 a.m., only to discover the restaurant opened at 9:30. A long line quickly formed behind us, and we were relieved to realize we had arrived during a brief window of minimal waiting. While we stood in line, a server thoughtfully handed out menus to browse. It soon became clear why: guests are required to order and pay before being seated. I admit that tipping before knowing what the service would be like gave me pause, but by the end of the meal, I didn't feel cheated in the slightest. Our party of three shared the braised short rib hash and the churro waffle. We asked for scrambled eggs instead of the poached eggs with the hash, and the substitution worked beautifully. The potatoes were soft yet spectacularly seasoned--each bite an explosion of flavor. The short rib came in perfectly sized chunks, incredibly tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite felt like a decadent little reward. I didn't think anything could rival the explicit pleasure of the short rib, so it was a delightful surprise to find that the churro waffle matched it bite for bite. Imagine the most idealized version of a churro: lightly crisp without being overcooked or hard, with a perfect, delicate crunch. By the time I reached the waffle, the vanilla ice cream had melted and soaked into it, adding another layer of sweetness that only enhanced the experience. I loved it. A word of warning for those sensitive to sweetness or salt: I found the meal magical, but it may not be your cup of tea if you prefer blander, less savory flavors. The servers were attentive throughout, consistently checking to make sure our coffee was topped off and that we were enjoying our meal. I highly recommend Eggy's. read more

This is the most all encompassing excellent place to eat to experience amazing energy, exceptional customer service, and phenomenal food. The presentation is top tier, the taste is mind blowing, the ambiance is gorgeous- giving grown and sexy, and the customer service really drew me to want to come back. The place is always packed but the staff work the crowd like magic. The wait is reasonable but the experience is soooo worth the wait. A special thank you to Arnold, Benny, Marifer, and, Daniella, you all made the most experience all the better. Thank you for your service, y'all made us feel right at home. This was my first impression of this place and I was not disappointed! The venue boasts a lovely open dining space with a shared patio (two restaurants next door) and lots of beautiful decor. The first thing I noticed was the family photos on the wall. I would consider it an "elevated mom & pop" which is a great thing because I love to support local businesses! The energy was buzzing on a Sunday afternoon. We were initially worried about finding a table, but the waiters find one for you after you've ordered your meal directly upfront. So many menu options for brunch! I can't remember the names of our meal choice but it was all delicious! The servers were fast, the cooks chatty, and the Bad Bunny latest songs were playing overhead so it was definitely GOOD VIBES! We showed up an hour before closing but they took care of use swiftly and politely :) they were closing as we were finishing up our meal but they let us take our time which was so gracious of them! I can't forget to mention that there is a large screen tv playing sports and smaller tables for solo diners which is an added plus. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and the breakfast sandwich, and both were absolutely delicious! The chilaquiles had a rich, flavorful red sauce with just the right amount of spice, and the texture was perfect. The breakfast sandwich was hearty, fresh, and cooked just right. The churro dessert was such a sweet surprise -- it was actually a gift from one of the staff members, which made the experience even more special. It was warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the perfect way to end the meal. The service was great, and the staff was so welcoming and friendly. They truly made us feel appreciated. I love a sunny outdoor patio breakfast moment and Eggy's gets you exactly that! It's a little adventure to get to the restaurant. From the street you'll walk through the tunnel and a garden, then up to the 2nd level to find Eggy's. You'll place your order at the register first then find a table where they'll bring your order to you. It's a popular spot and the line got a bit long when we stopped by on a weekday late morning, but it moved quickly. Use that time to browse their menu if you haven't already! They do have some seating inside, but if it's a nice day, take advantage of their patio and sit outside! They've got plenty of tables over 2-3 levels and some have umbrellas for shade. Once they bring your order out, it's self serve from there - they have some stations for to-go boxes, sauces, napkins, etc. I got the Oskie Sando ($17) made with brioche, caramelized onions, sausage, bacon, cheddar, and egg with a side of fruit of course, because health. This sandwich was loadedddd and as much as I wanted to go at it hands-only, I ended up using a fork and knife to be able to eat it cleanly. It was delicious. The egg is pretty runny though so if you prefer over hard, be sure to ask for it! The fruits were really fresh too. I tried some of the braised short rib hash that my friend got and wow, that's worth the splurge! So tender and flavorful. I'd def come back with more friends for a full weekend brunch experience! read more

Eggy's has always been a restaurant I wanted to try. My friend and I came on a Sunday (Father's Day) -- a mistake on our part, as it was very busy. We had to wait in line for a little over an hour to be seated. Furthermore, the staff looked quite overwhelmed; the tables weren't even wiped when we were seated until we asked. Food took around 25 minutes to come, but given the circumstances, I think the staff did a very good job. We ordered the widely popular Eggy's Tres Leches French toast and The Classic. The French toast had a stunning visual presentation, was not too sweet, and had generous amounts of jam and condensed milk. The bread itself was very buttery and soft, like biting into a soft dessert. I quite liked how they included strawberries and blueberries to the dish, as the sourness of the fruits balanced out the sweeter flavors. My friend opted for The Classic, which had tasty potatoes with chimichurri, but noted that the sausages were a little tough. The supplementary piece of toast was just dry, not really buttered or anything, so she was a little unsatisfied with the food. Some of the upsides was that the setting of the restaurant is really nice, with a lot of greenery and a running stream -- it made the long wait just slightly more bearable. The portions of the food were decent, not too much but also not too little, so we appreciated that as well. Overall, not a bad experience, but we definitely underestimated other people's love for Eggy's and their fathers. Cheers! read more
Breakfast with my best friend! With her being back in town, we were looking for breakfast spots in the area. We chose Eggy's based on the high reviews and convenient location, which didn't disappoint! The restaurant felt like a hidden neighborhood spot. A bit hard to find at first, walk down the alley and you're led to an outside multi-level patio. There's also seating inside--plenty of seating all around for different groups! Service was good, order at the counter, pay, and have your food delivered. We were one of the only customers so things came out reasonably fast. For those who enjoy American and Mexican breakfast food, this is the spot to be. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros with No Cotija Cheese while my best friend had the Cal Bene. Portions were filling and reasonably priced. The dish was filling, the toppings plentiful, and quite wet and messy. We both left satisfied. I love finding brunch spots around my neighborhood and Eggy's Neighborhood Kitchen is a nice spot. Good food, quick service, and a homey vibe. Parking is limited to the street since they're located on Shattuck Ave. read more
Definitely a must! First time here and it was a great experience. Food servings are huge, you can share with someone if you're not super hungry. The team working here is awesome and friendly. They'll help you pick something if you're indecisive like me. The vibe is chill and they play the latest Latino music, the spot is clean and tidy. Side note: The dirty-horchata is 10/10, creamy good! I came on a saturday at 12. The wait was over an hour. I wish there was a better system of waiting. Probably best during the week. The people were so nice. You order at the front and the bring it to your table. I tried the guava and cranberry mimosa it was good and crisp. I also had the churro wagfle and chicken which was amazing. Eggy's is hands down my favorite spot. The staff and the owner are genuinely some of the kindest people, and you can really feel how much care and heart they put into everything. The food never misses and is always consistently amazing. The space is beautiful both indoors and outdoors, making it a great spot for students to study or hang out. The prices are also really good for the quality and portions. It always feels welcoming the moment you walk in, and I could truly never get tired of coming back read more

My party of 11 (plus one child) had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at Eggy's this past Saturday afternoon. From past experience, I knew there would be a long wait as this is a popular spot (thanks social media). After about an hour wait and just near the front of the line, we were approached by Benny and seated (in the bleachers) to await one of the larger tables. Still another pretty long wait (can't rush someone who beat you to the spot) but Benny took great care of our group. Once we were seated at the table our orders were quickly taken and our food came out fast and seasoned/cooked to perfection. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals which included everything from chicken and waffles, chilaquiles, breakfast burrito, burgers and fries, and I had the braised short rib (again) - cooked and seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend this place to my fellow foodies, just know there is a long wait and communal seating shared with other venues. read more

The staff and service were excellent! Our server did an outstanding job checking in on our large party and even included a complimentary bottle of champagne/mimosas to make up for the wait -- such a nice touch. The food presentation was great and everything tasted delicious. One thing to note: if you don't come early or double-check how busy it is, the wait can be pretty brutal. The line can wrap all the way down the ramp... I recommend coming right at opening or later in the afternoon to avoid the long wait. Otherwise, it's definitely worth a visit! read more

Coming from a person who runs a brunch spot in SF, this place does it right! From the ambiance to the service to the flavor profile of each plate, Eggy's is a 10. Andre was so attentive and Javier made sure to make my mom's birthday celebration special with complimentary drinks. They both deserve raises! The braised short rib was so tender and delicious it literally melts in your mouth! The birria sandwich was the best I've had in Oakland or SF no joke. chilaquiles did not disappoint & had the perfect amount of spice & you CANNOT go to this place without having their churro waffles! so unique and delish! We got to the restaurant at like 1:40 pm late start to our day, we got in line and they take your order and give you a number. The line was moving slowly they gave everyone a complimentary mimosa! I've never had that happen lol it was pretty nice I gotta say. The outdoor garden was so cute the ambiance was very inviting and bright, I got the churro waffles and huevos rancheros, my bf got the slow raised beef bowl. The churro waffles were so good omg with ice cream it was the best waffles I've ever had bc I love churros haha. The huevos rancheros was good I liked the salsa and my bf beef bowl was really good too the meat was soft and so delicious! This place did not disappoint and my expectations were exceeded! My son got the Tres Leches French Toast and devoured it! I got Short Rib Hash and it was delicious. We all shared the Churro waffle which was amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful! Guaranteed to be returning often. read more

Quality food with really delicious flavors. The wait can be pretty long and you have to stand in line (no reservations). You order and pay prior to being seated we were in a group with three separate tickets under one table number and they definitely forgot one of the orders as the first two came out quickly while the last order took over 15 minutes so the rest of the tables food got cold while waiting. However staff was apologetic and provided free wings as a sorry for the wait. It was very busy on a Sunday so things happen but overall it's a great breakfast restaurant!
