In response to the below comment from the manager, I want people to know that Eggy's did NOT reserve multiple tables for my party of 5 as suggested by the business manager. Eggy's squeezed all 5 of us into a four-person booth table. No extra tables were reserved, they simply squeezed an extra chair into one table meant for four people. As far as addressing my concern for the overcharge, Eggy's is addressing this concern four weeks after the fact. This has obviously already been corrected with my credit card company as I make a point to keep itemized receipts for when poor service like this happens. I would also like to point out the way the business manager worded his pointed review. It looks like Eggy's needs customer service lessons all the way around. read more

Delicious meal. We are visiting from Florida and braved the freezing, windy walk to get to this restaurant and it was totally worth it. Just FYI for families with kids or elderly - if you are out if towners there are elevators to bypass the stairs to get to this area where the restuarant is located. Its surrounded by other little stores and what I assume to be apartments and a park. Limited street parking. We were greeted and seated immediately. Very clean, modern decor. A chalkboard over the bar indicates bar menu, wifi password, soups of the day and more. Nice Latino music playing had me jamming while waiting more our meals. I got Eggy's Breakfast Sandwich which consisted of - "Fried egg, bacon, red onion jam, mixed greens, herb aioli on a bun and served with Eggy's potatoes". For the kiddos got the chocolate pancakes. I also got a hot chcolate to ward off the chill of the walk over. The food was brought out in a reasonable time. That sandwich qss amazing, the first bite with the running yolk had me hooked. The red onion jam really set it off as well. Well cooked and all the food was hot and fresh. Their pancake syrup was tasty as well. The hot chocolate was served with what tasted like freshly made whipped cream and it was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would definitely return. One thing I didn't realize after ordering is how big the portions are. They are pretty big and fulfilling. Biscuit Benedict - A split biscuit with a poached egg. Unfortunately the egg was overcooked, and the biscuit and ham were dry. The plate overall was pretty dry. Breakfast Poutine - Their sausage gravy was spectacular, and the fried cheese curds were delicious. The fries were good, and the two over easy eggs sealed the deal. Not going to lie, this was a super heavy plate of food, but in the end it was filling and satisfying. I would definitely visit Eggy's again just for this dish. Overall, the service was great, and I did not have to wait for a table (around midday). If Wild Berry Cafe is busy, this place is a fantastic alternative. read more

I have the worst lunch today at Eggy's. I ordered a Spanish omelet with potatoes and a pancake. The pancake was the only thing that I ate. I asked that my eggs not be brown and they were gross. I was visiting a friend in Chicago. The spot he originally recommended was an hour wait and I was starving for breakfast. I called EGGY's and they had no wait! So my husband and took a short walk over to the restaurant and was seated right away. We had a friendly and attentive server who kept the coffee and water flowing. Our breakfast was delicious. I'm being generous with the three stars because Eggy's just opened and still has a lot of kinks to work out, like getting your order right and getting the food out to your table in a timely manner. With such a small menu, you'd think that it would be easy to get it right--but the oatmeal I ordered, which only comes with three ingredients (brown sugar, bananas, and pecans) was brought out wrong. There were dried cherries instead of pecans, so I let our waitress know and she brought out pecans. I had a taste of the eggs and hashbrowns, and while the hashbrowns were good, they were drenched in grease. The pulled pork omelette was not good and our dining companion had asked for it without the onions and this slight modification caused the plate to come out 10-15 minutes after the other plates. So she had to sit there and watch us eat our entire breakfast while she waited for hers. Only after we brought it to our server's attention did she comp the item. Intelligentsia coffee is served and refilled promptly. The fresh squeezed orange juice is tiny ($3) and extremely pulpy. Service was good. The place is on the small side with only a dozen small tables. The food was incredibly average and unfortunately not worth coming back for. read more

Eggys! How I wanted to love you! After all you have a cute interior, personable servers and a pretty varied breakfast menu. But I cannot go giving my love freely so let's just say I "like" you, just fine. You have some challenges- like a location that requires GPS to get to (kidding but this place is definitely set up to service the little "neighborhood" of high rises that surrounds it). And if you drive- I am not even sure where to tell you to go. I parked up at the Aqua Blu hotel and walked down the endless stairways as there is no parking along the street in front of it. Is there a better place to park? If so- I never found it. Our breakfast was a okay-not spectacular but okay. I had the Eggs Benedict (comes on a biscuit but they were VERY accommodating to serve mine on a muffin). They were also very helpful in getting my friend the "Steak and Eggs" that he so desired by taking the steak from the lunch fajita menu. See? This is why I wanted to LOVE this place as they were just so darn nice. But the food was just okay. The scrambled eggs were a little dry, my Eggs Benedict had a really sweet flavor to it that I couldn't decide if it came from the sweetened ham that they used or if the hollandaise sauce needed more lemon. But the coffee was hot and they worked hard to keep our mugs full and the side order of bacon was crisp and full of flavor. Plenty of seats available at 9:30 but you will wait it you get there after 10. But help yourself to the coffee in the hallway as you wait . . .it makes the time go by faster. Breakfast for 3 was about $57. Would I go back? Sure, if I was in the neighborhood. But if I am going to make a special trip (and pay a small fortune to park) there are places that are higher on my list! read more

My friend just moved into this neighborhood that I didn't even know existed. It's absolutely adorable with fabulous buildings, townhomes, a park, Mariano's and Eggy's Diner! After playing in the park we took the kids to Eggys to get our brunch on. Our waitress (possibly the owner) was sweet as pie. She has a little one herself and knows very well how difficult it can be to dine with children. She even brought my daughter a toy to play with mid-meal. They get a few stars just for being kid friendly. The food was average. I had eggs and pancakes, which were edible, but nothing special. My daughter wasn't such a fan of our meal, but she was a huge fan of my friend's potatoes...and pretty much ate them all. While I wouldn't come back for Eggy's, I would definitely visit the neighborhood again ...and Eggy's is a fine option while there. read more

Overall I really like this place! The staff is super friendly, and the breakfast pancakes, waffles, French toast etc are really good. The portions are huge too! The gyro is a great lunch option and overwhelming with meat. Delicious Buffalo chicken sandwich was terrible. I'd say this place thrives more as a breakfast spot and it's lunch offerings are a bit more inconsistent. Super convenient if you lives in the area however. read more

Was in the city looking for a new brunch place to try and found this place on Yelp. My expectations were pretty high since there are a lot of good brunch places in the city. This place didn't disappoint. It's a bit hard to find as it's not off the main roads. You have to walk around to the residential area off of Randolph to find it. Maybe that's a good thing as there was no wait. Rare for a place in a touristy area. We got the eggy sandwich, Mexican skillet and the Nutella French toast (half size can be ordered, so good to try out!) The Nutella French toast was awesome, as is most things with Nutella. The caramelized bananas they put on it are great. The Mexican skillet was good, eggy sandwich OK. The sauce in the sandwich was delicious, but it was too bready with not enough egg. After a disappointing experience at Brunch, we decided that we would look for some other weekend breakfast spots. I have seen Eggy's Diner when shopping at Mariano's, so when it showed up on my Yelp search, I figured we would give it a try. We went right before 8AM and it was pretty empty, but it started to fill up by the time we were leaving. I actually liked the decor, which combined French bistro with American diner. We started off with Intelligentsia Coffee (which always seems to taste better in restaurants as opposed to their store) and looked over the menu. Eggy's have some really interesting items, including little twists on classics. I had trouble deciding, but went with the Verb Omelet with potatoes and wheat toast. My husband had bacon, eggs, and pancakes. The Omelet was great and featured fresh jalapenos and avocado. Our waiter asked if we wanted hot sauce and I was pleasantly surprised to see a little pail of sauces arrive at our table. Apparently they work with a hot sauce Co-op and have fresh sauces delivered. My favorite was a Sriracha knock-off. Knowing that hot sauce selection will probably dictate my future orders because that is something special. Other notable items? The smokey bacon and the casual chunks of breakfast potatoes. This is a short walk from our apartment and the service was fantastic. We will definitely be back. I ordered the veggie skillet with my eggs over easy. One of my eggs was over cooked, but overall the skillet was good. Eggy's missed the mark in small ways that added up...The bread that came with my meal tasted like cheap bread out of a bag. The coffee was okay, but it was a little watery. I sat at the bar and my waiter forgot my order and had to come back and ask again. If you decide to dine here, it's definitely worth putting your name on the online waiting list - but, I would suggest you try somewhere else since the food and service was below the standard that I expect for downtown Chicago. read more

The food was amazing. I know Wildberry had great reviews so I had wanted to try it but the line was just way too long. I was starving and since I'm in town for work, I just didn't have that kind of time. Luckily Eggy's nearby. It was a little difficult to find. We saw the sign for Eggy's as you walk into Benton place that says it's on the first floor. When we got to the first floor we weren't exactly sure where to go from there and decided to give up and walk out. As we walked out the door Eggy's was on the right side! It was pretty crowded when my coworker and I showed up but we were promptly seated. The girl told us she was sorry it was so crowded so it'd be a little while before the waitress could get to us. Not even an issue, their menu had so much good stuff we had a hard time deciding what to order! While we waited, the hostess got us water and coffee. 5 mins later the waitress was already at the table. I ended up ordering the special of the day, blueberry French toast (blueberry bread made from scratch) with strawberries and blueberries on top. My coworker got the pastrami hash. We decided to split each plate so we could both have something sweet and something savory. The pastrami hash was delish! And the horseradish sauce really made it spectacular. A great alternative twist to the usual corned beef hash. The blueberry French toast was amazing. That blueberry bread was so fresh and dense, it was almost like eating cake. Wow! This place is a hidden gem - food's delicious, great bang for your buck, awesome waiter David. We got the poutine, original pancakes, and corned beef hash. Everything was sublime. The poutine gravy was flavorful and visibly had bits of sausage. The original pancakes were huge, fluffy, delicious, solid pancakes. And the corned beef hash portions were well worth the price. The hash filled a good part of the plate and was crispy on top. The scrambled eggs that came with the hash were perfect. The only criticism on the hash was that it was a bit salty...but a small price to pay for an excellent breakfast. If you are the eggs and hash together, it was perfect. What a fantastic place for breakfast! The manager or owner Jason was so nice to my girlfriend and I. We were sat at the bar and we soon realized someone had removed the chair from my place setting. I fully wasn't expecting anything from Eggy's as I was able to procure a seat soon enough. However, after our food was served, Jason came up and told us that our whole meal was comped for the inconvenience. That was such a nice thing to do. Thanks to other yelpers' warnings and the signs posted all over the market walls, we were able to find Eggy's pretty easily. Not sure why some complain about high prices...seemed pretty reasonable to me for a joint in a major city. My plate of food was massive. I got the Irish skillet, which was a heaping mound of corned beef with breakfast potatoes and topped with a gigantic fried egg. They have solved my lifelong paradox of sweet or savory for breakfast!! Large portions at affordable prices, service is great. Wish they accepted reservations. I visited Eggy's Diner with 3 of my friends for a Saturday brunch/late lunch at 1PM. The food is absolutely fantastic, especially given the price! For $12, you get a skillet of your choice (basically a mix of vegetables, eggs, and a breakfast meat) with a side of pancakes or toast. The kicker is that you can ask to substitute the regular pancakes and toast with the more elaborate pancakes and toasts available as full servings on the menu without being charged extra* (I opted for a smaller portion of the nutella french toast, but you can also ask for the "regular" serving size that comes with the skillet at a surcharge). I appreciate that Eggy's Diner carries Cholula hot sauce, the best hot sauce available. Love the relaxed atmosphere, the service was great. Only qualms about Eggy's is that they do not accept reservations, you have to wait in line (can use an app to do so) and that they will not seat you until the entire party arrives. read more

Food was pretty good but nothing to write home over. The chicken and waffles was very good. They gave you a breast and thigh (not exactly half a chicken but oh well). While it had a good amount of meat the chicken could have used more flavor. They were also a bit skimpy on the amount of syrup and the plate was far too small for the dish. The biscuits and gravy were mixed. The biscuits were crispy, flaky, and very flavorful. However, there was far too much gravy and it didn't have much flavor except for the copious amounts of green onions they sprinkled on top. Wildberry nearby is far better even after factoring in the long wait. The waitress was terrible because we were a party of seven and so she was able to automatically give herself a 20% tip. read more
