We stumbled into Eggy's after yelping a brunch spot while on a weekend trip to Chicago. The wait was about 30mins, but its located right next to a nice park, so we had a pleasant time hanging out until our name was called. Since we were on va"cray"tion (our excuse to eat whatever the hell we wanted), he ordered the breakfast poutine. I did not know this many forms of forbidden goodness could all come on one plate together. French fries, cheese curds (euphoria), gravy bacon and eggs....I almost felt like he was going to need a cigarette after. I ordered the chilaquiles with chicken and avocado. The serving was the size of my face. They were delicious, and WAY more than I could fathom eating. Unfortunately I was hoping to get a bloody mary - but they don't serve alcohol. The food was amazing. I know Wildberry had great reviews so I had wanted to try it but the line was just way too long. I was starving and since I'm in town for work, I just didn't have that kind of time. Luckily Eggy's nearby. It was a little difficult to find. We saw the sign for Eggy's as you walk into Benton place that says it's on the first floor. When we got to the first floor we weren't exactly sure where to go from there and decided to give up and walk out. As we walked out the door Eggy's was on the right side! It was pretty crowded when my coworker and I showed up but we were promptly seated. The girl told us she was sorry it was so crowded so it'd be a little while before the waitress could get to us. Not even an issue, their menu had so much good stuff we had a hard time deciding what to order! While we waited, the hostess got us water and coffee. 5 mins later the waitress was already at the table. I ended up ordering the special of the day, blueberry French toast (blueberry bread made from scratch) with strawberries and blueberries on top. My coworker got the pastrami hash. We decided to split each plate so we could both have something sweet and something savory. The pastrami hash was delish! And the horseradish sauce really made it spectacular. A great alternative twist to the usual corned beef hash. The blueberry French toast was amazing. That blueberry bread was so fresh and dense, it was almost like eating cake. Yet another disillusioned tourist here who was in search of a good breakfast spot after scoffing at the massive crowds outside Wildberry. Thanks to other yelpers' warnings and the signs posted all over the market walls, we were able to find Eggy's pretty easily. Not sure why some complain about high prices...seemed pretty reasonable to me for a joint in a major city. My plate of food was massive. I got the Irish skillet, which was a heaping mound of corned beef with breakfast potatoes and topped with a gigantic fried egg. They have solved my lifelong paradox of sweet or savory for breakfast!! I've always seen Eggy's as I frequent the Mariano's in the same complex during my lunch break. I decided to give it a try and ordered delivery through Grubhub a few weeks ago and had a not so great experience, BUT this was due to Grubhub's own delivery driver. When I called the restaurant about the incident, I received amazing customer service from Jason who was apologetic and invited me to come eat in the restaurant to ensure I get an appropriate experience at Eggy's and not view the restaurant based on an error by Grubhub. Fast-forward to yesterday when I visited during my lunch. The hostess was polite and when I asked if Jason was in, she sat my guest and I in his section. Jason remembered the incident and was extremely pleasant and helpful the whole time. This was a Monday afternoon, around 1pm, and while the restaurant wasn't completely packed, there was still a good crowd. I had the Country Benedict and was not disappointed! It came out pretty quickly and was fresh and full of flavor. My guest had the American Skillet and she was just as satisfied. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Asked the waitress and she said orders were backed up because there was a catering order. The Good: EGGY BURGER = AMAZING! 2 patties, cheese, fried egg and pastrami. I was in hog heaven. This was just an outstanding burger. It was just dripping with goodness. I put this in my top 25 burgers of Chicago. Still drooling over it and I ate it yesterday. They also had terrific coffee and a great selection of drinks. Great brunch spot for anyone who lives in that neighborhood. The Bad: As someone else commented, $14.50 for a burger is quite expensive. This place is not inexpensive. Horrible location for anyone not living in the area. Parking is a nightmare and also terribly expensive. This place is not worth coming too if you don' live downtown, and in close proximity. The Awful: The noise level sucks here. They have high concrete ceilings and the sound just bounces all over the place. With the music going I could barely hear my lunch partner who was across a small table. The chairs are also horribly uncomfortable. If i ever eat here again I'll bring a cushion. I was staying at the nearby Swissotel and this was really the closest breakfast option besides an overpriced hotel breakfast buffet. It's a nice little space, with a counter and plenty of seating. I was alone so I sat at the counter. I was immediately given some water and then some much needed coffee, they also left the pot. The menu isn't overwhelming which is good but there are lots of breakfast options. I opted for the Breakfast Poutine...oh man this is A LOT of food. It is french fries, fried cheese curds, eggs your way (scrambled for me) and sausage gravy. But it was absolutely delicious!! I couldn't come close to finishing it. The gravy could have used a bit more seasoning but overall it was very good. I saw some french toast come out, that also looked pretty tasty. They even gave me a to-go cup for my coffee. The service was pretty good, water never got refilled but that's ok. For the locals, they are no longer BYOB, signs everywhere. If I was in this 'hood every again I'd definitely come back. read more

I stayed at a hotel near buy & I found this spot by searching "breakfast placed near me." I'm glad I stumbled upon this shop. I ate here twice during my Chicago stay. I got the Country Benedict & it was amazing!! The first time I came here, the wait was long but the 2nd time I came here I had ordered online & picked it up and ate back at the hotel. Great spot for breakfast! I would recommend if you are looking for a cute breakfast spot! Only thing I have to say is that the spot is a bit tight & the tables are very close together. Loved Eggy's so much! Was in town from Miami and i had to stop at this place after seeing the reviews and pictures on Yelp. When we got there we got placed on a waiting list and waited about 25 min to be seated which was decent. Server came right away and got our order and food was brought to us within 15 min. Still haven't tried breakfast at Eggy's but just had lunch here for the first time, even though I'm around the area quite a bit. I had the black bean burger with fries. The burger isn't made at the restaurant, which I assume means it's one of the frozen kinds. I asked before I ordered, so I knew that going in. Still, the burger came out pretty good. The toppings made it pretty flavorful. The fries were... OK. I think there were two different kind of fries mixed in there. These thinner soggier kinds and this thicker crispier kinds which had some sort of layer/topping on them. Needless to say the crispier ones were better, but I don't know why they'd mix two kind of fries in there. Service was fine - pretty quick and attentive - refills came very quickly as well. The place is a bit pricier than it should be, but who doesn't want to save a buck or two. I think I'll definitely be back and I'd like to try the breakfast food next time as well. A small diner tucked away off the main drag but near several hotels. Wow! One of the best breakfast places I can remember and I travel constantly. The picante skillet was wonderful- cheese, pork, eggs, with jalapeños that did not come out of a jar. As per its name they obviously have really good omelettes and eggs specialties, but also a wide variety of waffles, pancakes and french toasts. Super excited to try out this brunch place. Got a bit lost on the way there, but it's basically next to the lower level of Mariano's. There wasn't much of a wait (~5 minutes) at noon on a Saturday, which is amazing for brunch in the city. I got the verb omelet and upgraded to the speciality pancake - strawberry and lemon. The omelet was decent and came with potatoes on the side. Plenty of veggies and the egg whites made the verb omelet a relatively healthy choice. The pancakes were very good. Loved the lemon mascarpone and strawberry combo. The portions are perfect for a two-in-one meal. I finished everything and didn't feel too stuffed. The value was very good. First trip I had the Chilaquiles that were terrific (but spicy if you add the jalapeños so fair warning) and the good looking man at the counter offered me a sample of a Strawberry Malt - OMG (but who can screw up a malt!). Wondering if it was a fluke took a friend here today and once again was incredibly impressed! They don't yell at us for bring is Starbuck's (which a nearby breakfast place did to us recently) and we had the Pastrami Hash (a marvelous take on it's Corned Beef cousin), a special scramble (that they altered to my friend's needy tastes), and the banana pecan pancakes to shared. Eggy's was pretty cool. It's located next to my work so on a convenience level it's awesome especially during these cold winter months. I do think it'sa big pricey but the portions are hella big and nothing in this area is cheap, deal with it. My friend and I came for a Friday lunch break. He had the french toast with a side of bacon. His plate of food was huge. They also came with fresh seasonal fruit. I was torn between ordering breakfast or lunch and to be honest everything sounded so good. I decided to go with lunch so I ordered the border chop salad which was Avocado, onion, corn, queso fresco, radish, tomato, beans, crispy tortilla strips & tomatillo ranch with chicken. The homemade ranch dressing was awesome. I will def return to Eggy's, next time going for the breaksfast! read more

Green eggs and ham was a unusual and so I jumped at it and it exceeded expectations. Creative, flavorful and fresh ingredients. Staff were all personable and nice, but not super competent or didn't care a ton. The restaurant was only half full, but it was still hard to flag down, and didn't really have normal wait staff timing--I waited 5 mins to be greeted after being seated, was never offered a coffee refill, waited for a long time after i received my food before I could ask for some hot sauce, and waited for my check way past the time I finished food. Meanwhile i watched an employee wander around the bar area looking for stuff to do, or staff hanging out at the host station just chilling and talking. Bring in a professional diner server (the kind that calls you hon and makes sure your coffee never makes it below half a cup), and this place would be a lot better. Late breakfast at Eggy's. Decided to go with a tuna sandwich and being gluten free I was excited they had a gluten free bread option. Sandwiches come with soup and a side. Had the tortilla soup which was very tasty. Sandwich arrives and it's a tuna melt. Didn't order that. OK so they remake the sandwich and it arrives uncut with 1/4 of the toasted bread broken off. Tuna was tasty but big chunks in mayo was very loose and with the broken bread it was basically a mess to eat. Side salad was a bowl of baby greens with 2 radish slices. The greens were like eating grass and barely had any dressing. Pretty disappointing meal! Husband had a feta, spinach and tomato omelette which he enjoyed. We did have to wait for an hour for a table of 4 but it was on a Sunday morning, we just walked around and enjoyed the dog park across the street ... the service was great no issues. We have eaten here twice and both occasions were very enjoyable. The food is great, the portions are large, the staff really has their act together. It is kind of a hidden gem just north of Millenium Park. When other downtown breakfast places have an hour waiting list, head to Eggy's. read more

Then we waited 30 minutes for our food. 10 was waiting on our waitress to bring it to us. I saw it sitting there, but she was nowhere to be found. We finally got the food. The potatoes and pancakes were good, but my over medium eggs were, we'll, on the verge of raw. Seriously, the place is called Eggy's. Hey guys thought I'd help some of my fellow Yelpers who rely on this app for legit eating options and for those who have faith in my recommendations know I try my best to keep it 1000! So that brings me to Eggy's... Not sure why it's 4 stars, I think it's more of a LOCAL 4 stars for the Lake Shore East community, or those who could not get into Wildberry. It's a very basic restaurant with not well seasoned food. The menu has some decent variety, maybe they should switch up their signature dish?! I ordered a signature dish; chicken and waffles and was not impressed whatsoever! It's almost on par with Chicago Waffles another eh place that'll address another day. Just beware Yelpers who are coming from far away or new in town and want to try a "Chicago Diner" this place is basic. Nothing spectacular, good service, funny name. If anything go for lunch, and get a shake you might be better off if you want something memorable. I'd easily recommend Yolk, or Meli Cafe, or 25 degrees for a more tasteful experience. Long story short Eggys is a SOLID 3 star establishment, I've been there twice with the same result, trust me I wanted to confirm the 4 star rating myself.
