I chose Ehrhart's to have my engagement ring custom made with diamonds that were given to me by my future mother-in-law because I had been a customer since moving to Denton in 2001. I expected to receive a quality ring and good communication throughout the process. I wanted to work with people I could trust with a ring I would wear for the rest of my life. Based on what I was told, I expected to have my ring within about eight weeks. Instead, I repeatedly found myself reaching out for updates rather than receiving proactive communication. When I finally received the ring after months of delays, the color of the white gold was not what I expected and was later confirmed by multiple independent jewelers to be outside their expectations for a ring of that age. What should have been an exciting experience became a lengthy and frustrating process. Timeline: Aug 22 Discussed the design in person and sent inspiration photos. Sept 5 Received first sketch. Sept 10 Approved design and left my ring/stones for CAD measurements. Sept 26 1:13 texted for an update. At 3:39 received the CAD rendering and approved it. Oct 1 Received a text that the wax model was ready. Oct 2 Tried on and approved the wax model. Oct 21 Received a text, "Hi, I have the 3D model of your ring. Please swing by and take a look at it. As soon as you approve it we can order your ring." This was the same model I approved on October 2. I pointed this out, I was told, "I was on vacation last week. I forgot. But yes, we ordered your ring on the 2nd." Nov 11 Called for an update. (9 weeks after design approval.) Nov 25 Called again. I was told the ring was delayed in customs. This was the first time I learned it was being made overseas. Dec 10 Emailed requesting the manufacturer, production location, and tracking information. Annette called but did not provide that information, instead citing customs and the government shutdown. (14 weeks after approval.) Dec 12 Received some additional information but still not the manufacturer or tracking details I requested. I was also told the Oct. 21 text meant the ring was already in production, despite asking me to approve a model I had already approved weeks earlier. Jan 5 Emailed again requesting an estimated completion date plus location and customs information. Jan 7 Received a call and email that the ring was ready. Jan 8 Picked up the ring. (18 weeks after approval.) March Noticed the white gold had become much more yellow than expected after only a few months. April Two independent jewelers confirmed the color was not what they would expect. May 5 Returned to the store. Ashley agreed the color was not expected and offered complimentary polishing and rhodium plating, estimating one day. May 9 Called for an update. At 11:04 I was told another project had delayed mine. At 1:32 I was called that it was ready, but I couldn't arrive before closing. May 11 Picked it up and immediately noticed it still wasn't as white as expected. Ashley and another employee agreed. Photos were sent to the maker. I was told they could remake the ring or replace the shank in-house. June 4 Called for an update. I was told there was no response from the manufacturer and that Annette would replace the shank in-house and "take the loss." June 15 Visited Nasr Brothers for an unrelated reason. Peter immediately commented that the color was not what he would expect for a recently rhodium-plated ring. We had it remade in platinum for about the same cost. I was quoted three weeks; it was finished in 17 days and exceeded my expectations in craftsmanship and appearance. read more

The staff was not very helpful whatsoever. Very standoffish from the start and did not seem like they wanted to help us at all and just wanted us out of the store immediately. Never offered to show us anything once we stated our budget and said they couldn't do anything at all with a $1500 budget. I can only assume it's because we are younger people of color and we're dressed casually. Never coming back and felt very uncomfortable about the whole experience even after leaving. read more

These people know what they're doing! Came in to take a link out of my bracelet and put a new clamp on a chain necklace. Pam and Everett were extremely nice and helpful. Everett fixed my necklace for free in about 5 minutes. After that I was ready to pay for the bracelet and he told me "you pay when you're happy." Awesome customer service and awesome jewelers. These folks are the best jewelers around. I asked them if they could make me a custom fathers pinky ring and they hit it completely out the park. My wife, daughters and granddaughter just love the way it looks. Being able to show it off to others and the amazing response I get from people is just great. Brought in an inexpensive necklace to be engraved as a high school graduation gift. I had some concern over the engraving process hoping that it would not damage the thin gold plating. We have been very pleased with the service and customer service here. I brought him some older jewelry to be used towards an upgrade for my setting and they were very flexible and helping me find what I wanted and getting me a custom piece. I later brought my ring back later for repairs and their repair costs was very appropriate and have brought my husband's band then for re-coding and pricing was appropriate. I generally shy away from writing negative reviews but this particular breach of professionalism from probably two years ago has stuck in my craw so tenaciously that I now, as a registered Yelper, welcome the opportunity to air it in this forum and perhaps, in doing so, exorcise it forever from my memory. The story: Seeking a jeweler to reset my wife's diamonds in her ring I called Ehrhart's and was passed to the jewelry repairman. In detailing the work I wanted done, I casually, innocently, and, I thought, tactfully, asked if I might watch the process. Besides having an active curiosity about the resetting procedure, I'd had a diamond switched some years before and hoped to minimize the possibility of a recurrence. Well, you guessed it. Whereas I'd thought I was making a perfectly reasonable request, the fellow took umbrage as if I'd called him an out and out crook. Thinking then that perhaps my request had unintentionally conveyed rudeness, I apologized. He seemed mollified and we agreed on a repair appointment. On the arranged date, I brought my wife along and we entered the fellow's workshop. He was an older man with probably a wealth of experience and seemed perfectly friendly at first but apparently he'd been mulling over my request, couldn't shake its inferred intent, and soon drifted into snide insults to both my wife and me. My wife quickly recognized the fellows state of mind and immediately left the store. I followed shortly thereafter, without leaving the ring. I was a bit taken aback by his behavior but didn't fully realize the degree of his rancor until I had the opportunity to consider it on the drive home. I then called the store, asked to speak to the gent, and told him of my disappointment with his lack of professionalism and, especially, his absolute rudeness to my wife who'd had nothing to do with my evidently unsettling request to watch the repair being performed. His response was a rather flaccid "Well, I guess you've said what you had to". To this day, I don't know this fellow's name or how he fit within the hierarchy of Ehrhart's but I suspect he was a senior Ehrhart family member. Regardless, Ehrhart's may be a fine jewelry outlet and the fellow I had trouble with may otherwise be a pillar of the community but, should you ever have jewelry in need of repair and bring it to that shop, do NOT ask the repairman if you can observe the work being done. :) read more

Very disappointed that they charged my daughter $20 to remove a single watch-band link from a new watch. Overpriced for a 2 minute job!!!!

Although they were extremely busy due to holiday and another function, they managed to re-size my ring in one day - as they had promised when I dropped it off with them. The ring now fits perfectly and was cleaned so that it looks as lovely as the day I received it. They seem honest and as though they strongly believe in the technology they use for repairs and also for cleaning. In my experience, more professional than the other jewelers to whom I've taken jewelry for repair in the past, and I will be using this jeweler solely for all my future needs. read more
