I have visited Dalat Town on multiple occasions over the last year and it continues to be one of my…read morefavorite places to eat in Lakeland. On my most recent visit for dinner I had the Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls and Chicken Pho. The Spring Rolls have a soft sticky shell filled with crisp lettuce and cucumber, tender shrimp and pork, and soft cool vermicelli noodles. A rich peanut sauce on the side is perfect for dipping. This was also the first time I tried the restaurant's Pho. Hot and flavorful beef broth was filled with soft savory noodles, tender chicken, crisp bean sprouts, scallions and jalapenos, and flavorful cilantro. I requested the chili oil for an additional kick. Overall, Dalat Town is my favorite spot for Vietnamese food in Lakeland and a must visit.

Amazing place! Great service and very tasty. Menu is typical of Vietnamese restaurants. They have…read moremeat, vegetarian, and vegan options. If you've never had Vietnamese Iced Coffee, HIGHLY recommend it. They make it just like every Vietnamese restaurant and it's the best iced coffee you'll can get. I ordered an iced coffee, eggrolls, and bo luc lac (shaking beef) for eating in and another coffee and a banh mi to go. The food was so good in the restaurant that I forgot to take pictures. Very tasty and this was a great hidden gem in Lakeland. I went with coworkers as a party of six. Menu clearly states parties of 6+ have tip automatically included. It was and I just wish I could've tipped on top. Place was nice and spacey but casual. You can talk and have conversation. Not a quiet, "upscale" kind of place but would still be great for a date night. Plenty of parking because it's in a huge shopping plaza. Price point is pretty good considering how other places are priced. Overall, if you like Vietnamese food (or have never tried it), this is a great spot to check out. Highly recommend and love finding this spot in my city! EDIT/UPDATE: The food and service is still 5 stars. I took a star off because I found out the tips don't go to the servers. I saw this on a recent visit. Will definitely come back for the food and service, but I won't be tipping. As a former food service worker myself, that doesn't sit right with me.

Parlor Doughnuts in Lakeland, FL -- Come for the doughnuts, stay because you've made a new friend…read more My husband and I walked into Parlor Doughnuts around 10:30 in the morning with absolutely NO idea what kind of doughnut we wanted. None. Zero. We stood there studying the menu like it was a major life decision. Thankfully, there wasn't a line behind us, because we probably took a good 10 minutes trying to figure out our doughnut destiny. And the wonderful woman working the counter was SO patient, friendly and helpful. Honestly, she didn't just help us choose doughnuts -- she probably could have helped us figure out our lives, too. And if she ever decides to get into real estate, I'm telling you now -- this gal could sell some houses! She was that engaging and personable. We told her what we liked, and she worked with us. I love peanut butter, and she told me she had a little bit left, so she made me a fresh doughnut with it. It was absolutely delicious. My husband likes very plain doughnuts, so she made him a "Plain Jane" and even offered to add a little sugar or honey. He politely declined because apparently he wants his doughnut to be as plain as humanly possible. We also grabbed a few of their smaller doughnuts, which were only 65¢ each. Everything was incredibly fresh, and there were probably a dozen or so varieties available that morning. Some had already sold out, but here's the cool part: if they have the ingredients, they'll work with you and make what they can. Especially on a slower morning, it felt like such a personal experience. The doughnuts were so fresh that my pictures honestly don't do them justice. The shop itself is also really nice. There's parking around downtown if you look for the free spots, music playing overhead (hello, 60s! ), plenty of tables, couches and comfortable spaces. It would be a great little place to sit and work, too. And the air-conditioning was PERFECT -- not freezing, not roasting. Just right. So if you're in Lakeland, come support this local doughnut shop. The doughnuts are fresh, the people are wonderful, and you might even walk out with a new favorite doughnut... or a new real estate agent. Parlor Doughnuts -- definitely worth a stop!
