However, when we checked in they told us they don't take reservations so it must be for their sister restaurant (oops) and the wait was even longer this time. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. We were in and out within 30 minutes, which I appreciated since we had a drive to Chapel Hill ahead of us. Overall, it was a solid meal and I'm guessing a favorite for those affiliated with the campus.

No disrespect to smash burgers, but I've been wanting a thick, hand patted burger and they delivered. I ordered the tavern burger with the medium cook and a side of fries. Burger cook was perfect. One thing I loved was that the actual patty had char marks on it & it added more flavor to it. Very juicy and flavorful. Their fries were solid too....crispy yet soft in the middle. My wife got their bacon jam burger with a well done cook and she raved about how juicy it was. The cook was to her preference as well. She wasn't too impressed with the pasta salad as a side, but she did get an order of sweet potato fries and they were great as well. Finished the evening with their carrot cake and key lime pie to go and they were both delicious. Their key lime may be the best I've had in this area. Our server Morgan was awesome as well. Very attentive and helpful with the menu suggestions and explaining the things she personally liked, along with what was popular with other patrons. Their setup is odd....not saying that in a bad way, but its an older building and the layout says that. We were seated very quickly. Again, Morgan was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was good....very apt for a date night. Didn't get the chance to check out any of the other dishes around, but everyone seemed pleased with the service and the food. It was a nice, creamy complement to the spicy crispy chicken. The hollandaise cut through some of the richness for a pleasant mellower. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was great! Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. I will say the service from Lauren Stone was amazing. She was great, she was very kind and held conversation with myself and my boyfriend and recommended and made some really good drinks. The service is really what tops the overall experience. If someone is very genuine and upfront, there's not much that they can't come back from. I went with 2 pieces of grilled pork tenderloin, sausage gravy side paired with one of their biscuits (planning on biscuit & gravy, yum!) with some scrambled eggs. Breakfast came out within an acceptable wait for a full house, no longer than anticipated wait. My selections looked great, with the portions being adequate but not overgenerous. Of note, the biscuit was big, fluffy, and exactly what you would expect from a Southern style biscuit. The biscuit combined with their sausage gravy was enjoyable with the scrambled eggs and tenderloin (I am glad I ordered two of them instead of two separate meat selections). With their satisfying coffee, I enjoyed this breakfast stop before the start of a busy day. I come to the best part of my visit to Eggies, the service. My wife had the tomato pie while enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The light and lemony albarino was a great pairing. Seth our server Seth was fabulous and very attentive. The view on 4th Street was not super hot. They had fans that were at our feet made the weather pleasant and the people watching was interesting. We will surely return soon. Make this a must visit.

We strolled around then went inside to explore what the business had to offer in the way of drinks and maybe get something to eat. As it turned out, it was around 9 o'clock, and the lady that came out from the kitchen told me that the kitchen was closed for the evening so we weren't able to get any food at that time so we walked around inside and looked at the small things for sale and the decorations saw the nice high top bar and chairs and since things were winding down, we decided to leave instead of having something to drink. We didn't see a bartender or someone to serve us a drink anyway. So as it stands, we'll have to come back by some other time and check it out.
