I wanted to like this place. I saw a review of the place on THV11 and thought the food looked incredibly good. Came here expecting food that would've blown me away but was utterly shocked by the experience. Was sat around 3 PM expecting to be out by 4 at the latest. We tried to order a burger but were told there was a "brunch only" menu that you could order from at 3 PM. Why?? After 30 minutes of waiting the server came by to apologize for the wait and promise us a discount on our meal then continued to talk to customers and overall slack off on their job. They even offered to give us to-go containers for our food?? We watched (who we assume to be the manager) stack cups and wipe off tables while the server counted their tips behind the counter. Poor guy was doing absolutely everything the server should've been doing in the first place. While the wait got longer and longer the waiter seemed nervous to even come around our table. No wonder. The first entree to come out came 45 minutes after we ordered at 3:20, being told the rest would come out soon after. We got our last entree at 4:25. It seemed like everyone was waiting insane amounts of time. The food was okay. Once we paid for the meal, there was no discount. The waiter didn't even bring it up. I hate to say this because the owner was trying so hard to keep his restaurant in check, but nothing was worth going unless you had too much free time and wanted to spend it sitting in a somewhat entertaining restaurant. This place came highly recommended by the locals so I had to give it a try before leaving town. The service was okay waiter wasn't very attentive. The breakfast taco was just okay way too many eggs for my liking and the cold pico was just took much made the taco kinda cold. The side of potatoes where cold once brought out. This is a sit yourself and wait for your server restaurant. The food was great, my husband and I both got the breakfast tacos, and I also got a mimosa. Prices were really good for the area, our entire bill was $34 before tip with two meals and two drinks. It seemed like they only had one server working who also had to bartend and a manager helping her out. I was super understanding with the slower service at first, however we filled up a little quick and made it obvious that we were ready for the check. We sat with my husband's card on the table for about 15-20 minutes and the server passed us many times. The manager finally came by and asked us if we needed anything, and took care of us. Ate brunch at EJ's and thoroughly enjoyed it. Located in downtown Little Rock, we parked on the street. It is in walking distance from local hotels...not sure if there's a parking lot nearby. Ambiance: housed in an older building, there are old-timey posters, album covers & a tv on the walls. The building itself, adds to its neighborhood hole-in-the-wall cool vibe. Restaurant is spacey with a counter or seat yourself tables of differing sizes near a lot of windows to people watch. Service: our server was friendly & rendered just the right amount of time and attention. Food: so delicious! Had the "Big Breakfast" but gave the pancake to the BF. I'm from the South & the sausage gravy is the real deal okaaay? Cheese grits were perfect & I could only eat about 1/3. Bf got the "cakes & eggs". His eggs were cooked perfectly (over easy) with crispy bacon. Menu has a great variety: Benedicts; breakfast sandwiches & tacos; French toast, chicken & waffles...something for everyone. Me and family stepped into this place to a sign that said "Do Not seat yourself wait to be seated" No one acknowledged us, multiple workers walked rite by us without a word. We stood there for at least 5 minutes with two infants under 6 months. Hanging out in Little Rock with family for a long weekend, discussing where to have brunch on a Sunday morning. Brother and sister in law debating between a few places and finally decided to take us to EJ's. Why, because they said the food would be great and the wait wouldn't be long. Well..............they were right! No wait and the food was solid. We were seated immediately and served quickly and everyone in the place, staff and other patrons were all friendly. We arrived just as they opened so there weren't too many folks in there yet but they filled up quickly. We started with a round of Bloody Mary's while we decided what to eat. Of course I had to look at the reviews on YELP first! Two in our group settled on the special of the morning which was Blueberry Cheesecake stuffed French toast. Now, can you go wrong with that choice? I should say not. Blueberry - check. Cheesecake - Check. Stuffed - check - French toast - check. Naturally you had your choice of two sides. My brother had a breakfast burrito and the waitress mentioned the pancakes were great so I opted for Cake and Eggs. Let's just say that we all "rolled" out of there after that breakfast! Be prepared for solid, good food in your basic dive atmosphere in downtown Little Rock. I heard the place is packed for lunch during the week! Don't let the location or the looks fool you. We went for brunch on a Sunday about 12:30. Totally packed. We waited at the door for a while then decided to go to the bar for service after standing for 30 minutes. The bartender took care of us, we got a bottle of champagne and extra pineapple juice. They are severely understaffed, while they're doing all they can, they definitely need more help to handle the crowd they're getting. The food was a 8/10 and fairly fast. Service was as good as it could be because of how little front of house they have. But again, we were kept happy with the cheap mimosa bucket while having to wait after we found a spot at the bar. The name says it all! This is a classic Eatery, plus bar, with a wide array of options. Great space, with high ceilings, tons of windows and natural light, and a style that's a mad cross between trendy coffee bar and *classic* dive bar. It feels old, but like it's kept up with the times and wears its age with grace and pride. We came in specifically for the Sunday Brunch and were very impressed. It's classic fare, nothing over the top of fancy, but it's all consistent and reliably good. Only problem we had there was the lack of Mimosas or Bloody Marys on the menu - they had all the makings, but since it wasn't written we more or less forgot about it. Our service was very prompt and courteous, coffee was free-flowing (and your coffee mug can be a kind of americana roulette, there from a random collection and you never know which one you're going to get!) While we were eating, some folks who must have been regulars slowly filtered in, sat at the bar, and all chatted with each other and the bartenders, like they were all old friends with all the time in the world to just hang out and relax. Pleasantly surprised by this spot! I walked over for lunch with some coworkers... They have a pretty decent menu and the lunch was quite tasty and didn't take long. We all had a lunch combo plate (half sandwich with cup of soup)... I went with the Country Club sandwich on ciabatta bread and the Italian sausage soup. One coworker went with a shrimp po-boy wrap and the chicken Jack soup (which she fell in love with), and another had a chicken sandwich with broccoli cheese soup. The only complaint I would have is that the cups of soup are pretty small...like literally a cup. But the food was very good, so we aren't complaining. All of our lunches were under $10, the place was clean and very casual, food was great, service was satisfactory. Very satisfied and can't wait to go back and try the Reuben and the shrimp po-boy. read more

I usually pay more than that for one mimosa!! And the as far as the food goes you literally cannot go wrong, it's all fabulous. The honey blueberry chicken biscuits were RIDICULOUSLY good. My rating is based solely on the service we had while we were at EJs. Two of us went for lunch, and were seated relatively quickly. The tables were close together, but it was a nice atmosphere, reminds me kind of like a diner. It took about 15 minutes to take our orders, which I understand because it was busy, and not so bad because the drink cups are gigantic. I had the california turkey with chipotle mayo instead of cream cheese. My sandwich was out of this world! The homemade chips that came with it were ok. My lunch buddy also loved her sandwich. In fact, my sandwich was so good that I even considered getting another one to take home with me for dinner. Unfortunately, our wait for the check started to overshadow how great our meal was. The waitress brought things to the tables around us, but it almost seemed like she was purposely ignoring us by not looking our direction! This only added stress to a particularly good meal as you know, lunch hour can only be stretched out so long... TWENTY MINUTES later, we finally got our waittress's attention and were able to get the check. read more

This was hands down the worst "food" I've had in my life so far. We were pressed for time, so my sister quickly picked out a place on yelp with sandwiches as we were passing through Little Rock. Do not be fooled by the 4-star rating! She got a The Works sandwich and I ordered a California Turkey wrap to go. Both of us took one bite, passed our sandwich to each other, took another bite of the other sandwich, and tossed them away. I kept mine down somehow, but she spit out one of the bites she took. The wrap I got was a thin, flimsy piece of thing, no bigger than an enchilada with minimal fillings. I really regret even trying it out after seeing what it looked like, it was downright terrible, even compared to food I've eaten at a prison. The "homemade" chips also unbelievably terrible, worse than the generic lays brand stuff. Stay away!! read more

Ej's has perhaps the best homemade potato chips I've ever tasted. The ranch flavor is my favorite, and I highly recommend you give them a try if you visit. Otherwise, solid sandwiches in a convenient downtown location. The BLT is really tasty. Service can be hit and miss, especially during lunch. I've never had a stellar experience with any of the wait staff, but never a horrible one either. read more

The owners did a great job of making me feel welcome and introduced me to a few of the regulars on trivia night (Tuesdays) which was a fun way to meet new people.
