    Country Club Sandwich
    Steve M.

Sorry, half of my Country Club Sandwich left w/homemade BBQ chips, & cold beer for my picture. Looked so good I dove in fast. Love me a good club sandwich & have not treated myself at EJ's downtown in a while. As good as I remembered! Great visit.

Stopped in for a quick bite this morning .... Our waitress, the fabulous Cherelle was delightful. First time for something off their breakfast menu and Cherelle got my gooey eggs just right. My friend had the breakfast sandwich and said he wasn't expecting it to so tasty. Might have to try that next.

Hanging out in Little Rock with family for a long weekend, discussing where to have brunch on a Sunday morning. Brother and sister in law debating between a few places and finally decided to take us to EJ's. Why, because they said the food would be great and the wait wouldn't be long. Well..............they were right! No wait and the food was solid. We were seated immediately and served quickly and everyone in the place, staff and other patrons were all friendly. We arrived just as they opened so there weren't too many folks in there yet but they filled up quickly. We started with a round of Bloody Mary's while we decided what to eat. Of course I had to look at the reviews on YELP first! Two in our group settled on the special of the morning which was Blueberry Cheesecake stuffed French toast. Now, can you go wrong with that choice? I should say not. Blueberry - check. Cheesecake - Check. Stuffed - check - French toast - check. Naturally you had your choice of two sides. My brother had a breakfast burrito and the waitress mentioned the pancakes were great so I opted for Cake and Eggs. Let's just say that we all "rolled" out of there after that breakfast! Be prepared for solid, good food in your basic dive atmosphere in downtown Little Rock. I heard the place is packed for lunch during the week! Don't let the location or the looks fool you. Stop by and try it out!

Took an hour and a 1/2 to get our food. Place was basically empty when we arrived except for two tables of 4 and 2. 6 different tables came, ordered, ate, and went before we got our food. Food was ok once it arrived. Grits were clumpy. Milk was luke warm. Eggs Benedict was great. Breakfast burrito was good. Pancake was delicious. Not worth a 90 minute wait tho.

We went for brunch on a Sunday about 12:30. Totally packed. We waited at the door for a while then decided to go to the bar for service after standing for 30 minutes. The bartender took care of us, we got a bottle of champagne and extra pineapple juice. They are severely understaffed, while they're doing all they can, they definitely need more help to handle the crowd they're getting. The food was a 8/10 and fairly fast. Service was as good as it could be because of how little front of house they have. But again, we were kept happy with the cheap mimosa bucket while having to wait after we found a spot at the bar. As an ex waitress, I feel their pain running as much as they are.

Authentic downtown Little Rock. Laughter, good folks and great food. People really enjoy themselves here. I am visiting on Sunday brunch. They have everything from Mimosas and Eggs Benedict to your everyday breakfast items. Boy they want to add bacon and cheese to all your sides. I wanted eggs, "Want cheese on that?". Asked for hasbrowns, "Want bacon and cheese on that?" I had to say yes to at least one. Just know hash browns mean potato wedges and the bacon put on them is almost whole bacon with melted cheese. Whoa!

Waited 2 hours for a table. They have three servers for the entire restaurant. Got appetizer before drinks. Tea was gross. Salsa was bland. Cheese dip was flavorless. Biscuits were tough. EVERYTHING NEEDS SALT. Potatoes were super greasy. Some Egg white in my over easy egg were raw. Waffle is made with funnel cake batter? Wtf. Will never be back.

The name says it all! This is a classic Eatery, plus bar, with a wide array of options. Great space, with high ceilings, tons of windows and natural light, and a style that's a mad cross between trendy coffee bar and *classic* dive bar. It feels old, but like it's kept up with the times and wears its age with grace and pride. We came in specifically for the Sunday Brunch and were very impressed. It's classic fare, nothing over the top of fancy, but it's all consistent and reliably good. Only problem we had there was the lack of Mimosas or Bloody Marys on the menu - they had all the makings, but since it wasn't written we more or less forgot about it. Our service was very prompt and courteous, coffee was free-flowing (and your coffee mug can be a kind of americana roulette, there from a random collection and you never know which one you're going to get!) While we were eating, some folks who must have been regulars slowly filtered in, sat at the bar, and all chatted with each other and the bartenders, like they were all old friends with all the time in the world to just hang out and relax. That was a really nice vibe to top off our experience. Also, bonus points for being one of the most affordable brunches we've been to in town :)

Lunch combo, half Country Club on ciabatta with Italian sausage soup
    Velma D.

Pleasantly surprised by this spot! I walked over for lunch with some coworkers... They have a pretty decent menu and the lunch was quite tasty and didn't take long. We all had a lunch combo plate (half sandwich with cup of soup)... I went with the Country Club sandwich on ciabatta bread and the Italian sausage soup. One coworker went with a shrimp po-boy wrap and the chicken Jack soup (which she fell in love with), and another had a chicken sandwich with broccoli cheese soup. The only complaint I would have is that the cups of soup are pretty small...like literally a cup. But the food was very good, so we aren't complaining. All of our lunches were under $10, the place was clean and very casual, food was great, service was satisfactory. Very satisfied and can't wait to go back and try the Reuben and the shrimp po-boy.

I've personally worked my way through most of the menu over time, so I was excited for them to try it. It was around 9am so it was still fairly quiet and calm. Believe me it gets busy!! We started with orange juice and a Sunrise Matcha while we looked over the menu and caught up. The service was excellent (always) attentive, friendly, and relaxed, which made it easy to take our time. My companion ordered the B Street Bowl (potatoes, smoked brisket, onions, and peppers) with the queso served on the side and eggs cooked to order(fried hard). I ordered The Chenal which is their seasoned grilled shrimp with bacon, peppers, and tomatoes over cheesy grits. I added an over-medium egg and a side of hollandaise. Both dishes were delicious and incredibly satisfying. The portions were huge, and we each ended up taking a to-go box home for a mini meal later. It's the kind of brunch spot where you can sip your drink, take your time, and leave very full. Tip: If you order the B Street Bowl, getting the queso on the side lets you control the richness. Everything is amazing here. If you're a newbie, you can't go wrong with a Benedict!

It was lunchtime, and even though I thought I wanted something sweet like French toast the brisket wrap caught my eye, and I decided to give that a try instead. Meanwhile, the nice lady sitting next to me received her bananas, foster pancakes, and I immediately started kicking myself for not going that route. Her bananas were beautifully caramelized with quite a bit of sauce, topping the pancakes, and it looked heavenly. According to her, it was heavenly. Moments later, my brisket wrap arrived with the tiniest little container of a garlic aïoli, which was clearly homemade. The rap itself was jampacked full of succulent, perfectly cooked beef, but when you put a little bit of that aïoli on there, it really stepped its game up and shined! I left completely stuffed in a very happy camper and you will too. Enjoy!

One of our friends (and a Little Rock native) recommended Boulevard Bread Company, and we're so grateful that we stopped to check this cute spot out! There are a few Boulevard locations in Little Rock, and while this one wasn't the most convenient to the highway, it was still open for lunch as we were driving through the city around 2:30 PM. I placed our order online from the road, so when we pulled in, our sandwiches were ready and waiting! I'm glad we did order ahead, as they were still pretty busy when we arrived. We grabbed a table and enjoyed our lunch inside the cafe. We split a couple of their signature sandwiches, and our favorite of the two was the pastrami. The rye bread pairs quite nicely with the roast beef. We also shared the turkey sandwich, which was good but not as memorable as the pastrami. I can confidently say that we'd make Boulevard our new go-to road trip stop in Little Rock! From the freshly baked bread and tasty sandwiches to the friendly service, this is a solid spot for lunch.

So when I finally got the chance to stop by for an early dinner with a friend, I was excited. Unfortunately, the reality of the experience just didn't live up to the expectations. The two stars are strictly for the vibes--because eating outside under the stars on a warmed patio in the fall? That was beautiful. The atmosphere was exactly what I wanted: cozy, inviting, and perfect for a chill evening. Our server team was friendly, and everyone committed to us having a nice time there--including the cooks. But the food? Completely unseasoned. Everything was cooked well, but there was zero flavor. I mean, none. It felt like whoever made it had all the technique in the world but forgot to add even a pinch of salt. And because I met the cook, I'd venture to guess that's how Red Door told him to cook it. I'm pretty sure he seasons his food at home. For a place I had been waiting so long to try, the lack of flavor was a huge turnoff--especially since this spot ain't cheap. If you're coming for the ambiance, you'll have a great time. Just grab some appetizers and you'll be good to go. But if you're coming for flavorful food that makes you want to come back?
