It was like watery, literally. So here's a pic of the queso I got Oct 16th 2024 which was amazing and the cheese held onto the chip. She tried to argue with me saying it was always that thin. Queso is not the consistency of water sorry. I'm not paying 11.00 for a small bowl of watered-down cheese. So to anyone who reads this in the Carson City area. Go give Don Chepe a try. Good honest family run place. They would never treat a customer like that, that was a regular. Their food is rocking and even though their regular menu does not reflect ground beef, they do have it. Had to go to another Mexican restaurant today and instead of leaving them a bad review I decided to come here and say how great full I am we have this place. Hands down best Mexican in Carson. Service is always great, owner is wonderful and next time I'll just wait for Mexican food until they open. The Carne Asada is so much better and flavorful here. Years ago we used to eat here and it went down hill. This last year it was voted number one in many areas for food so we thought it must be better. Well it is not. We tried it three times and once out of three times was okay. The prices are shockingly high. And the food quality is far from #1 standards. Maybe the days we were there were off days. I was craving some Mexican food today. Specifically a chimichanga, the most unhealthy thing you can order in a Mexican restaurant! I ordered a chicken chimichanga and was given chips, salsa and cool refried beans. Salsa was on the mild side but tasty and loaded with chunks of pepper and tomatoes. The beans were bland but nice when mixed with the salsa. Chips were salt free which is a plus for me The chimi was not what I was expecting It was more like a small wet burrito with chicken and cheese and served with rice, beans, sour cream and guacamole Each component could stand on its own Service was fast and friendly. I went in a few months ago with my family of four. My young boys weren't interested in the kids menu which was like 7.99 for the kids menu so they said they wanted to share a steak quesadilla no problem 18.00 not a big deal to me. So when we go to order I said they will be sharing a steak quesadilla the young girl sever (owners daughter) said there will be a 4 dollar split plate charge on it. I said what ????? So it's 22.00 for a quesadilla I'm like that's like music festival prices. Just keep it on one plate and they will share it. It's not ethical you're putting a charge on them when the kids meal is cheaper to begin with than the quesadilla . I got a little frustrated and said why are you trying to nickel and dime us we come in here quite frequently. I said no wonder this place is dead on a Friday night. Well the girl started crying I felt bad apologized. ( must of really hit home.) the mom came up and screamed at me. I get it I made her sad by being brutally honest but truth sometimes hurts. Place is not what it used to be. I don't understand the lack of business ethics and it's just the principle like your trying to rip me off . She said the other three of you can eat but we won't serve you. I'm like ok that's fine you just lost more money over four dollars. They dropped the bill I grabbed it and paid left the girl a 130$ tip cause I felt bad I made the girl cry... I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while. I went there with several family members. Two of us ordered margaritas. Mine was a regular blended, the other a strawberry blended. When they came, the waiter brought me a mango margarita rather than the regular one I ordered, no worries. When I brought the wrong one to his attention, I mentioned that it tasted like there wasn't any alcohol in it. The strawberry one was about the same. He said that because it was blended and not on the rocks, I couldn't taste the alcohol. Note I have had many margaritas over the years and can definitely tell the difference! He replaced the first one and when I said it tasted like there was no alcohol in it either, the owner showed up. I told her the same thing, and she said they never had any complaints before. She then said she could bring us a shot of tequila. I asked if she was going to charge us for it since the margarita tasted like it had none and she said yes. So, I told her never mind! She again said she has never had any complaints, told me I was being rude, picked up my drink and kicked us out. Mind you, I was quietly trying to be nice about it to let her know I was not happy with the margaritas and move on. We were all dumbfounded. Not just by the fact that she kicked us out and called US rude, but that she could afford sullying her businesses reputation by not making the situation right. Not only will I never go there again, but I will definitely share my experience with everybody I know. On a side note, it was pretty quiet in there. What a miserable staff they have. I have wanted to try this restaurant and stopped by today to pick something up to go but when I went to pay I was told she wouldn't take my card payment - she wanted cash which I didn't have on me. When I questioned her she told me never to come back. As if that would be an issue being treated the way I was today. If you're looking for good Mexican food and not a sit down restaurant, go to Centro market just down the street. Food is great the staff actually want your business. read more

I read a few other reviews before writing this and I can see that I'm not the only one that has had a terrible experience at your restaurant. The owner was rude from the moment we walked through the door. She came to take our order, and from the very start I could tell that she was having a very bad day. She was very rude and abrupt. It was awful. This USED TO BE our favorite place. We drive from South Lake Tahoe to eat here, BUT NEVER AGAIN AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. We know that you are a family owned business and having great food and providing friendly and professional service is what makes your restaurant thrive. The shredded chicken chile relleno I ordered was at best 3/10. It was bland but you can sure taste the oil it was cooked in, the chicken was in chunks instead of shredded. Two star review still remains. A couple of years ago, when it looked like things were improving again, my sister and I started coming here, even bringing some friends. We just came with a friend who said she wanted to go and that's the only reason we returned. The lady who waited on us used to be friendly and now is extremely rude to us and our friends. Orders are wrong a lot (even easy ones) and the food, while not horrible, is nowhere near what it was like when another friend of ours recommended it years ago. They seem to treat you well only if you drink and they are snippy when you don't order big. They close way too early. I see a lot of reviews raving about this place. What's the big stink about? There actually was a time when this was one of the best places in Carson and it was pretty crowded. Now the place is pretty empty. Doesn't surprise me. Went to the restaurant order chicken tortilla soup and meatball soup to go carefully put them in my car soon as I got out of the driveway they spilled over they didn't put the caps on properly. We have been on the search for the best Mexican food in Carson so we were excited to try this one out based on the reviews. Chips, salsa, and beans came out as soon as we were seated. The beans were served on a plate so it was hard to scoop it with chips. The salsa was excellent! Just enough heat. I ordered a combo plate with a shredded beef enchilada, shredded beef tamale, rice, and beans. The rice had an odd flavor, I only had a few bites. The tamale had a very rubbery texture but the shredded beef had great flavor. The enchilada was the winner on my plate. They give you complimentary sopapillas after your meal. They are drizzled with caramel and topped with whipped cream. A nice touch and they were fresh and warm! This was not the worst Mexican we have had but unfortunately, we are still looking for "THE" place in Carson. read more

I have been a customer of this restaurant for a long time and highly recommended it to some people that I get together with once a month for lunch. We had reservations and when we arrived there was not a table ready for a party of eight. We were waited on by a young girl, who I believe is part of the family that owns the place, she was not rude, but needs to be more pleasant to the customers. We had to ask for more chips and salsa, had to ask for silverware and then the food arrived and what a disappointment. Two of the ladies ordered something with beef and neither of them ate, they said, it was so tough they couldn't chew it. I can't say one bad thing about this restaurant! Hands down the best Mexican food in Carson City! My husband and I eat there at least once a week. The asada tacos are off the charts delicious. The daughter takes the order and when it was wrong she said I ordered it and she wouldn't refund the money. I went with a good friend to have a drink, I ordered the strawberry margarita, it was way to strong tasted like straight tequila. I called the owner over an told her I didnt like it was to strong an I could not drink it, she took the drink with NO APOLOGY and said I would still have to pay for the drink even tho I did not drink it an it was to strong.
