Salsa from scratch each day. Good start folks. Fresh made chips. It just keeps getting better. Very busy Sunday evening for a small town in Oregon. The true measure of a great Mexican restaurant is the beans and rice. I could have stopped there and been completely satisfied. Both were delicious. A taco and enchilada completed my meal. Really great food. She chose the relleno, tostada and enchilada plate. Loved every bite. The margarita was delicious and not at all expensive. Our server was very kind and hard-working, and the service was great overall. Quick to refill the free chips and salsa after we finished the first round, and the food came out pretty quickly. The 2 stars is for the food which surprisingly was good. Shared the chicken fajitas and everything tasted good. Beer was cold and the service was prompt. I have eaten in 3rd world restaurants that were far cleaner and attended to than this one. Literally filthy! No way again. If you get stuck in Lakeview on a Sunday night or really any night, I suggest dinner from the Safeway. Would not make this a road stop again. According to the menu, this place has a few other locations in Gardnerville, Susanville, and Carson City. Not many places will provide table service during these trying times, but these guys do. The staff are masked and tables were sat every other to maintain distance. The place was clean and had the pleasant smell of food in progress. We were sat right away. Our server brought us warm chips and fresh salsa and asked what we would like to drink. The salsa was delicious with tomatoes and onions and just enough spicy kick to not scare away the gringos. I got a shredded chicken quesadilla, which came w sour cream and guacamole. It was well made, and tasty w the right amount of crispness on the flour tortilla. Rating is in context of the Lakeview dining alternatives. We thought the food was good for the enchiladas we ordered (one mole enchilada plate, one regular double enchilada plate), portions were more than ample and the prices were fair at $9.95 for each meal. Service was pleasant and prompt if not friendly or with professional panache. For example, once food was delivered no one checked back in and the next time we saw the server was when he put down the bill and picked up our plates. But this is Lakeview after all and in that context it worked for us. Thanks to the review of my Yelp friend whose judgement I trust, Bill D., I knew to look beyond the cover here of the exterior to give this place a try. I would encourage others to do the same. This is family owned and operated and these folks are working hard. If popularity with locals is any measure, this place was nearly full when we walked it at around 7:00 on a weeknight of what seemed like mostly locals. As folks departed, it seemed a wave out about 7:30, still more diners trickled in. It is unlikely we'll be back in Lakeview but if we were, we'd be happy to eat here again. big delicious plates of mexican foods. the owner is from jalisco. they hire really nice people. the food arrives freshly prepared, not as if it were sitting around waiting for customers to show up. i have eaten all my lunches and dinners here because there are so many choices to try. my experience has been super-positive. be prepared to take at least 1/2 home because the portions are humongous. read more

Had taco salad which was great. No nasty taco bowl, cheese and chicken was melted on plate and salad on top. Ordered beans and onions/bell peppers to add. This Mexican Restaurant is located in small town. My husband and I stayed overnight in Lakeview and were able to walk from our motel to the restaurant. Not fancy but very busy with serving in-house customers and take-out meals. I had 2 chicken tacos with rice & beans and my husband had a chicken enchilada, chile rellano, rice & beans. I must say given some of the low reviews I was hesitant to give this place a try. But given there aren't many options, I defied Yelp and tried it anyway. I'm glad I did. The service was amazing. The people were very friendly and attentive. Everyone was smiling and I was greeted the moment I walked in the door. The food was good. It's one of the few places where I've asked for spicy and got just that! Not only was the food spicy, they brought me fresh fried jalapeños on the side. The food is really good. But, the service is pretty bad. I've eaten there several times. The first time I dined, they had one young man serving all the tables so the service was understandably lacking. The next few times I went, there were several females serving the tables and the service was still lacking. Almost as if it was an inconvenience to have to serve me. Don't bother asking for a fork to eat with, or a straw, or a napkin, or a refill. Not gonna happen and if it does it's only because you had to make a spectacle of yourself trying to get their attention. And you'd better ask for everything you might need because to get their attention a second time is slim to none. read more

I was driving through here when I decided to stop by to grab a bite to eat. I ordered the Burrito Verde, the meat had a weird smell to it, the rice was hard and dry, beans and salsa had no flavor. I try not to be such a Mexican food snob but being Mexican myself and growing up in California I can say this has been one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have been to. I'm in town to call on Cornerstone and Collins Lumber. I asked the nice lady at Collins where would be a good place to eat. She said she likes the food here and now so do I. I had the lunch special Al Pastor taco plate. The rice was.....rice. I got the whole beans instead of refried and they were cooked perfect and with a little hot sauce on them they were tasty. The packed full street tacos were as good as any I've had just about anywhere. Nice little nuggets of pork goodness, with great seasoning and done just right. Not dry and chewy. No fat no gristle. Wow! Yeah....it's not much to look at, but WHO CARES?! This place is excellent! Wishing I had snapped a pic of the Carne Asada or Huevos Rancheros......they were pretty, and on a huge platter. The asada was grilled to perfection, expertly cut. Beans and rice were tasty and super flavorful. I got the big order, with a cheese and onion enchilada. The Huevos review from the GF took a hit only for not coming with tortillas on the side (she pilfered mine!) Order a side of guacamole......it's really good too! I have eaten here a couple a times every year for the past few years and it has gotten to the point of never again. We went there last week and the place was filthy...carpet had food and dirt totally walked in so that only removal can be done. The food was 2 to 3 star but the server (if you want to call him that) was a total jerk. I asked for albondigas soup and was told it was not available....same story as the last two times. So we just ordered 2 burrito's which were ok ....nothing special but when I asked the server for additional hot sauce he left and started waiting on other people , after about 4-5 minutes I got up and walked over to him and asked about the sauce....his response "you arent the only people in here ya know"....really. we ate got the check and at the stand I told hime I start at 25% tip and work my way down and before I could even finish he cut in and said..."I dont expect anything from you so keep your tip" what an ASS&^LE....So I obliged ...NO TIP and another lost customer.
