Can't go wrong here. Lots of variety on the menu and it's all served diner style. There's love in this food! I often have the chicken & waffles which are house made (the chicken fingers are freshly dipped and fried, not frozen!). I was impressed, many restaurants use frozen breaded chicken that's outsourced. This time around I tried the shrimp Alfredo, not sure what I was expecting, but this was cooked up beautifully and tasted delicious. Not too heavy and it feels and tastes like wholesome home cooked meal. Also! The house made chili is worth a try too! The service is great, the staff are super friendly all the time. Not a Mexican restaurant! The family who owns it is Mexican but don't go here for Mexican food! They have several Mexican breakfast specials that is about it. It is an old place but that is not excuse for it being dirty, the floors were cruddy and it was not because it was a rainy day or anything like that. I thought the tables could have been cleaner too All that being said, we had breakfast there and the food was pretty decent. Kind of standard breakfast fair. We both had eggs over easy cooked perfectly and I asked for my hash brown crispy and they were. Seeing there are not that many towns around I would say this is probably an okay option when driving through. read more

Quick, friendly service and a tasty breakfast, what more can I say? Coffee was a little weak for my liking (I prefer jet fuel), but OK for restaurant coffee. I had two eggs with hashbrowns, toast and bacon and all items were prepared to perfection. Place was clean as was restroom. This place has been in Lakeview since the 1960's and I can see why. Me and my fire crew were in town fighting the crane fire. It was our last day in town and we were leaving at 7:30 am to travel home after being gone for several Weeks because of this fire. We decided to get some breakfast at Jerry's because we had seen it in passing a few times and want to give some of the local restaurants some business. We walked there from our hotel around 6:40 am... the lights were on and there was a cook and a server inside. We saw an elderly gentleman proceed to walk in and she seated him and gave him coffee. We walk in the doors shortly after and the server rudely states "we don't open until 7"... I said unmmm ok and explained to her that we had to leave town at 7:30 and if she could just let us get some food real quick it would be appreciated... she again flat out said no we don't open until 7... all the while the older gentleman was sitting in the corner with his coffee. This is America and in a small town where people are supposed to help people and work through things... it was 15 minutes before you were technically open... you couldn't try to make it work for firefighters who were in uniform? Ate here for breakfast during a long road trip. Jerry's; supposedly much improved since new management... I'd say a worthwhile second step would require a bulldozer, a new menu, trained servers and perhaps better food... Maybe I'm being too critical. Jerry's had all the charm of a middle-of-nowhere diner. The food was okay at best and we never received our complete order. The staff struggled but they were nice. Inexpensive, our breakfast for two cost $16. Visit with a medium to low expectation and you'll do fine. read more

It was hard for me to pick something because EVERYTHING looked good. Someone mentioned the food was greasy, but I did not find this be the case. 100% delicious was more like it. I wound up getting the Sink Omelet, which was fabulous. An old codger at the counter keep up a running commentary with the waitress. "There goes old Brown. Guess he' s not coming in this morning. Hey! X just run the stop sign again. He's parked in the shade but not coming in." Waitress: "He is on the phone getting instructions from his wife." Etcetera, etcetera. Very small skinny strips that were spongy inside. The fries were also undercooked. I have eaten here numerous times when in town. The food is what you would expect from a diner. The server was friendly and greated me right away in my most recent visit. I usually get the pot roast. I would stay away from the corn, It tasted like it was defrosted frozen corn. However I switched to rice and vegetables this last visit and it was pretty good. It was nice to hear Jerry's was reopening. To have it open again was supposed to be a good thing. It seems it's Jerry's in name only. The staff is very nice but seem to lack in customer service skills. The food... I can't speak to the entire menu but I will tell you about what I had. I had the broccoli stuffed chicken with veggies, in this case corn. Starting with the chicken, the filling sauce was pretty good though a little sweet for my taste. The chicken itself was flavorless and dry. I did need a knife to cut it. The corn was obviously frozen. Like the corn you get in a TV dinner, just nasty. The potato wasn't much better. By what was provided, one would believe there is a butter shortage; one pat to cover a whole baked potato AND toast is a bit much to expect. Speaking of toast, you only get a half slice of bread. Really? Is the budget so tight you can only offer a half slice of bread. It is a hard stretch to recommend this new "Jerry's" right now. It can be improved but the new owners will have to do some work. For now, look elsewhere for your dinner. read more

Not sure why it says Mexican after the restaurant. Jerry's had a very 'American' menu and I don't remember seeing one Mexican item on the menu. I visited Jerry's last Saturday evening. Most restaurants in Lakeview close early. Jerry's posted that it closed at 8:30 p.m. We showed up at 8:20 p.m. and they welcomed us with open arms. Customer service was A+. They make a mean swiss mushroom burger. No AC in the building but their beer is served ice, ice cold and instantly cools you down. We will be back! read more

Yuck. The only reason this place gets two stars is because the restaurant staff is very friendly and the service is very good. I had a pot roast dinner which came with clam chowder, cornbread, vegetables and a baked potato. First of all, I don't like thick, smoky clam chowder that doesn't taste like clam chowder, but that could just be me. The green beans were out of a can and tasted every bit like it. The pot roast was so dry, even the gravy could not help it. I am guessing this was a frozen item thawed/heated in a microwave then served. Simply inedible. The cornbread was good and the potato was okay, but I think it had been microwaved also. My dining partner had the everything nachos. Do not order these. He said they were topped with Ortega cheese and fake salsa, also inedible. The funny thing is there is a Safeway right next door, merely feet away; we almost went there for food and am now so wishing we had. I used to rave about the great breakfast that was served here. Not anymore. Ordered a piece of apple pie and got a tiny slice 1 1/2" at its widest and less than 1/2" thick. Literally thinner than a piece of thin crust cheese pizza with no toppings. Another customer had a biscuit and gravy and the biscuit looked like it came out of a plastic bag. So over cooked it was literally crunchy...no really, it crunched. Asked for some mayo, for the dry bun....that took a while. Asked for a plastic knife to spread said mayo and cut crunchy burger in half....uh, no but they did give me a fork. Ya, that worked out well.
