Fast and friendly service. The Spanish rice is quite good, and the homemade tortilla chips were delicious, warm, and fresh. Three of us had the enchilada meal and the portions are generous. Overall the food was very good, and reasonably priced. Much better than what was here before. We will be going back for sure, and look forward to trying some other menu items. If you are after fancy decor and atmosphere, this ain't your place. It could use a freshening up inside. It's no frills, simple dishes, served fresh, and tasty. I can't handle spicy but I love Mexican food. Here they give you what you want. Ask for the heat level you are comfortable with or it will be mild. My sister and I both loved the enchiladas. I had beef/ cheese and she had just cheese. Beans and rice were standard (in a good way) and flavorful. My nephew inhaled three steak tacos and two enchiladas of his own. Fiancé and I are really happy knowing this place is right up the road! The atmosphere is super cute and colourful with fun paper decorations, our waitress was extremely friendly and kind. The sauces that came on the table were DELICIOUS, the red one was smokey and had a really bold kick to it. We both love hot hot hot food, so it was okay for us! Anyways, I was inquiring about ordering vegetarian here and they were able to make it happen! I ordered a combination they had which came with one taco, one tostada, and cheese stuffed poblano pepper, YUM. The pepper was hands down my favorite part of the dish, whatever sauce they simmered it in was fabulous. They were able to make the taco and tostada veggie friendly by subbing meat for avocado :) it was great! I was unaware that it came with rice and beans as well, so when the plate got to the table I was surprised by the quantity! I'll share a picture of what I got. The chicken flautas were the best I've ever had. The chicken was shredded and so moist with the right amount of seasoning. These are larger than most flautas so three of them are quite filling. On to the beans and rice...beans are flavorful and the rice is moist. So delicious. Usually most Mexican restaurants have very bland beans and rice. Not this place! I definitely love the food so far. Stopped into this new business that just opened near my work. Ordered guacamole as side dish and ordered steak burrito and steak taco. Wow. What great flavor with both entrees. It's right by Butera and I'd like to make this place my New Mexican food restaurant. The first red flag was the use of styrofoam. That's enough to make me never go to the restaurant again. But I want to give them a chance. This time I brought my own container and ordered the lunch special which costs more than the dinner. That's the next strike, the price. It's rather expensive for Mexican food. That might be ok if the food was good but at best it's ok. The staff is not great. When he saw my raised eyebrows at the price. He asked if there was an issue. I replied that I didn't really want to complain, he responded that if I didn't say anything how would they know. That's fair and I had some hope. When I expressed that $8 was high for a taco lunch special. I mean it's two tacos, rice and beans. My hopes of customer service excellence were then dashed when he replied that I could go somewhere else. The staff is also very friendly and attentive to the customers. My only complaint would be that the Mexican sodas (the glass bottle ones) are a tad overpriced. My family and I pass this everyday on our way home from daycare pick ups. Being that it is in a small plaza we would talk every other day about it wondering if it would be worth stopping in. Finally last night mom ( me ) didn't feel like cooking. We had asked our 11 year old which place should we stop in at. He chose the Mexican spot in the plaza. We did. What a hidden gem. We walked in to be greeted so kindly. The decor was so fun to look at. Clean and smelled incredible. There were booths large enough to sit several people into one or there were tables to choose from. It was myself ( mom ), my fiancee, my 11 year old and our 13 months old. Of course my son orders mozzarella sticks off the kids menu haha, but i ordered shrimp fajitas which came out steaming hot and the juice from the peppers and onions that was marinated at the bottom of the steam pan was to DIE for, i wanted to soak everything in it, i caught myself dipping one of my sons fries in it. My fiancee ordered the mexican steak which both entrees were served with rice and beans and hot tortillas fresh. The hot sauce to choose from was great, one for every persons liking. My fiancee ALWAYS cleans his plate when we go out for Mexican food, not last night, we had to ask for a box, the portion was INSANE. The baby ate a little bit of my rice and beans, ok ok she ate half off it. I filled a tortilla with some beans and rice and she ate that thing like she has never eaten before. May I add as a Puerto Rican family we have high standards when it comes to our rice and beans, by far a 5 star MUST visit. I have never tipped a cook before and, well now I can say I have.
