Commuting home after a long day I somehow found myself inside waiting on an order for a steak burrito and single cow tongue taco. It was late night and the street was still. I'd called ahead and now that I was inside, the total wait was about twenty-five minutes. With a bottle of soda the total was about $12 dollars. Was it a fast burrito? I'd say it was an average timed completion. Not Jimmy John's fast. Average, definitely average. The place is found a few doors west from the intersection of Irving Park road and Kimball. Large windows in front display their tiny eatery. So tiny that the dining area shares space with large refrigerators that are in use by the cook. There was a lingering smell I couldn't quite place my finger on, till I read a review here that said it reminds them of a dank mop. That's it! The menu is in English. I don't think I've ever seen a legit burrito joint with the entire menu translated into English. Nothing wrong with that.. although I wondered whether the meal would be authentic Tex-Mex or straight up Taco Bell. Examples from the menu; instead of al pastor it read bbq pork. And instead of lengua it read cow tongue. However the bbq pork is not Mexican style from the spit. (Mexican style is formed on a spit, with a pineapple rind atop and covered in a thick marinade. Accept no substitutes.) The food was decent and the hot salsas were great. The cow tongue taco was succulent with light seasoning and with ample meat. I should have ordered that in my burrito, it could have made for a more enjoyable meal. The steak burrito was as good as something prepared at home. Nowadays I'm used to a certain skill from other burrito joints. A proper mixing up of ingredients so that each bite includes some of all components. This burrito was segmented. Veggies on one side, beans and cream in the middle and meat to the opposite side. It was an alright meal but I doubt I'll go running for another. Burrito joints are plenty in Chicago and there is much competition. However, there are few (decent) burrito joints open past midnight. That's where Fast burrito can compete. read more

Small storefront restaurant that's really a takeout/delivery please with just 4 tables to eat in. It's clean and the place is simple but the food is better than ratings given here. I have two dinners. First a red mole chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and a steak burrito with everything on it with plenty of red and green sauces. It was quite good and I would come back. If you're looking for more upscale place, this is not it but for what you expect, tasty Mexican food for less, you can do no better. read more

I'm so upset. And very disappointed to say the least. I ordered 30 min ago from Uber eats and I just received my order. I was so hungry and excited. I ordered a crunchy steak taco, cow head taco and a stuffed poblano taco. What I received for the poblano taco was a joke. I rather them not have sent me anything at all. All i received was 2 edges cut from the stuffed poblano. With barely any egg or poblano. (No cheese at all eithe) Not to mention how hard and stringy and old it looked and tasted. This is honestly unacceptable. So sad. So low of people to play with food like that. read more

It wasn't my plan to order for delivery, but the fridge was fairly empty and we finished all of the leftovers. I decided to find a nearby restaurant that opened late enough on the weekdays and was within the delivery zone or radius. I placed the order at approximately 9:30pm. Honestly, I didn't expect a fast delivery as the name suggested due to a number of Yelp reviews in regard to significant delays or subsequent cancellations. However, the food came in at about 10pm. Cool, the wait wasn't that excruciating. The "guisado de tripa en salsa verde," or tripe stew in green sauce, was quite tasty, even though the sides (arroz, frijoles, and tortillas) were semi-lackluster. Oh by the way, the salsa roja that came with our order was spicy. The burning sensation caught me off guard, and I had a few loud hiccups as the result. Hubby also liked the chilaquiles con bistek. I asked to take a bite of the skirt steak. It was flavored well yet a bit hard to my liking. The prices ($12.99 each), the quality of the food, and the speed of delivery were satisfactory to me. Therefore, I, would not mind ordering from "The Fast Burrito" again. read more

Yikes. I should have checked Yelp before ordering from this place. Shows up as "El Burrito Rapido" on the Uber Eats app. I tried a pork torta and two different kinds of tacos. The torta was filling, but the meat was quite salty and didn't seem very fresh, it had too much of a charred consistency. I finished the torta, but it wasn't very satisfying. The green sauce tastes really really strange, I can't figure out what it is. The orange sauce is a habanero sauce I am guessing. It has kick to it and is a bit creamy but tastes kind of cheap. I ate the tacos later on and there was more to be desired. Same story with the meat, tasted old and charred. It took a while to get delivered. I dunno if it's the restaurant or Uber Eats, but my order didn't even "leave" the kitchen until after the delivery estimate. This is Chicago, there is wayyyyy better Mexican food at dozens of other places. read more

I work in the area and walked here on a whim during my lunch break and I'm so glad that I did! The workers were so nice and the food ended up also being very good! I had a chicken taco salad and it was so much food for a great price and enough for me to save for later. They have a lot of things on the menu and the prices are very fair. I feel like it is more of a pick up food spot since it is a pretty small restaurant. read more

This place used to be very good and one of my favorites even though the service has always been slow. It is under new ownership or something and it is nowhere near as good (service still ridiculously slow). If you like this place, but haven't had it in a while, skip it. Flavors and textures are different. Steak has gristle when it used to be tender and flavorful. Ground beef is now super greasy. Shrimp tacos were some of the best in the city and are now inedible. First off, what business takes orders for three dinners, and doesn't provide salsa. When you order 11 SAUCES AND PAY ALMOST 80 DOLLARS for your meal. As my stomach grumbles from the upcoming pain I inflicted on myself I'm reminded as to why I do this...so others don't have to go through the same. After my recent Cuban romp I got a hankering for Mexican food, something I haven't had in what seems like months. While I was placing my order which consisted is the Pescado (Fish) Soup, Ground Beef Burrito & the California Burrito I had this strange sense of familiarity. Ironically, I did indeed order from this place years ago back when it first opened and decided to shelve my review in-order to give them an opportunity to establish themselves and hopefully improve the food quality (which it drastically needed.) On top of that I placed the exact same order! Here we are years later and doesn't seem like much has changed. Food arrived about 15 minutes earlier than expected and was piping hot. It's unfortunate that they used cheap everything to pack the food because the soup container pretty much was half open (the lid came off due to it not being able to withstand the heat from the soup) and spilled everywhere in the bag. On top of that when I was pulling out food to see what was leaking, after grabbing the soup container it promptly raised it's hand signaling it was the culprit as it spilled even more soup everywhere, staining the fabric on one of my chairs. Okay so not a great start...can the food make up for it? The short answer is not in the least. Every burrito has all the fixins' (avocado, lettuce, tomato, sour cream.) All of the meat was over seasoned, a bit too much salt. On top of that the ground beef was overcooked, leading to some very salty crunchy bits within the burrito. Presentation wise things looked good, these were easily some of the neatest packed burritos I've had. They even held up well after taking several bites which shows whoever made them knows how to pack a burrito it's just too bad the quality of everything else isn't great. The fries in the California burrito added nothing and their taste as well as everything else was overpowered by the salty meat. They pretty much just were filler and an excuse to charge more money. I also noticed that the burritos were pretty much 60-70% re-fried beans which for an almost $10 burrito is inexcusable. The Pescado soup should've been really easy. It's literally just fish, potatoes & carrots for a basic dish. What I got was a quart of 95% broth with maybe a quarter of a fish, a third of a carrot, a slice of another vegetable and that's it for $12+??? You cannot be serious. The broth tastes like vomit as well and stunk up my apartment really bad. I totally see why they threw in a stack of tortillas with cilantro and onions for free since I ended up taking the fish out of the broth and making fish tacos. Overall, I can't recommend this place. Food is way overpriced and it's obvious they cut corners every chance they get. While the presentation is good, the overall quality of the food ruins everything. 2 out of 5 stars read more

My go to burrito place. I like that it's in my neighborhood and local. Not a huge fan of the rice but the crane asada burrito and horchata are great. Been here multiple times and I always get those items. Haven't dined in but take it to go. read more

Had the worst experience ordering last night.  Places an order and the lady didn't tell us how long it was going b to take.  After 1.5 hes we call back and the lady said it would take 75 min.  like she had said,  which she never did or else we wouldn't have ordered. She then said the delivery time is up to the driver.  We would have ordered through grub hub or something instead of directly from them.  After 2.5 hrs. and we had paid. We still didn't get our food and when we were calling there was no answer.  Never again.  They just lost my business and my families.  Now im trying to get a refund, if I could only get in contact with someone. read more

These folks are good people. I ordered the burrito special and forgot to say no sour cream. They made me a new one no problem. Good flavor for the carne Asada, not too chewy either. I have it 5 Stars because it is what it appears to be, a Great local late night Mexican option. read more

This is a solid and (usually) hassle-free Mexican food experience. Ordering through GrubHub allows you to customize the meat choices on combination platters, which can be an issue when ordering at other establishments. The food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tostadas etc) is consistently good with the exception of the sauces that come with every order. They are colorful lies, being flavorless goo that just moistens your food without spicy burn. So bring your own hot sauce. The chorizo is really really good. What kills me is the inconsistency of the delivery. Sometimes it's here in 20 minutes, sometimes it takes 90 minutes with no rhyme or reason. Delivery does not follow any understandable order density pattern or lunch/dinner rush. 4pm on Tuesday or Wednesday ? 90 minutes. 7pm on Saturday? 20-30 minutes. read more

Roach in the food. I would never eat at this place again. The food is cold and it's very dirty. It smells like a dirty mop. And seen something that looked like a roach crawling towards the kitchen. This is a little family owned restaurant suffering from poorly chosen name syndrome. The food is both hand and well made but the name implies a garbage fast food Mexican place that provides you Tabasco to spice up your burrito with. Had I not been killing time on the same block I would've never thought to give them a try. They seem like a nice couple and I'm glad I did. The al pastor was very good, portions were solid, the chips were warm and I believe made fresh and the guacamole was delicious. Everything was well seasoned without being too salty. No, this is not some knock-off Chipotle as the name sounds. Having been on a search for a good authentic Mexican restaurant in Chicago, I think I may have found it. No frills, no fuss, just some good freakin' tacos. Portions are large, the meat is well-seasoned and juicy [side note: I hate that word], and the tacos hit the spot. We tried an assortment of pastor, chicken, and asada. While I always lean to chicken tacos, the pastor were the highlight, as were the chips with the freshly-made guac. The burrito is very small, and full of lettuce. The dinner costs $10 for a spoonful of rice and beans in addition to the burrito. Was outside of my normal neighborhood getting work on my car and dropped in at the recommendation of Yelp. Was not disappointed. Completely agree with others here- sadly hidden under some construction scaffolding with a name and exterior appearance that would have certainly made me miss it. Felt much like how I'd expect hanging out in a Mexican family's living room and getting a good home-cooked meal to be. I usually head straight for the tacos at a taquieria, but something about this place had me craving a burrito. Was rich with a lot of flavor. Price was super reasonable.
