Came 30-45 min before closing and there was no line. The tacos didn't take forever to come out, but they were very good. I prefer the al pastor over the asada here, and I think I can do with just the normal tacos instead of the califa (cheese) version (although both were good)! El Califa's operating hours are kinda short, so I usually miss my chance when I'm out and about. I made a concerted effort to stop by on a recent Saturday. Their obviously named speciality, the Califas taco, has melted cheese between the base tortillas. It's nice touch and I recommend giving them a try. The tacos might be just as good without the cheese though. The barbacoa was broken down, a bit fatty, and a had noticeable herb flavor that was really nice. The carne asada were bits of steak that you can visually tell were seared well. First time I felt it was actual steak rather than pulverized meat (I think most carne asada sucks). The al pastor was pretty good also. They gave me a sample of chicharrones to try, which I think was the most flavorful and spiciest of the meats. read more

I usually go for the Diablo chicken (spiced chicken with spicy sauce inside the tacos) and it doesn't disappoint. Good serving of chicken that is tender and feels freshly cooked (my typical experience is that chicken tacos elsewhere doesn't always feel very fresh), and amazing sauce - make sure to get the spicy one, they always give me extra sauces on the side - friendly owners! I sometimes go for the El Califas Tacos (tacos with cheese in between in addition to the protein), but mostly opt for the regular ones (in the picture). Around 10 odd bucks for 3 tacos. I was driving down the street, saw this taco truck, made a hard right, looked it up on Yelp and decided, Yup, I need to order three street tacos, Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Barbacoa. I usually ask for mild salsa but it was hard to hear the guy and hard to hear me so I just nodded my head to all of the questions. All of the tacos were supercharged with flavor, I don't eat spicy but this definitely gave you a quick burn and after burn. The Al Pastor and Barbacoa meat that I could taste had a nice flavor from the marinate and tender. The Carne Asada was mainly the medium salsa, onion, cilantro and light beef flavor of the meat. The tortillas are soft and grilled with a little bit of oil to give you that extra flavor. All the tacos came with onions, cilantro and green salsa on top. The plate came with a lime to cut the heat which I didn't do and julienne radish and pickled diced onions that I didn't eat but cuts the heat too. Even with the hotness of the salsa, I loved the tacos. I'm a Carnitas and Al Pastor fan so I hit one of two of my favorites. The guys working the taco truck are nice too. If I am out here again, I will stop by again. They sell street tacos so whether you want a snack or a meal, give these guys a try for very good tacos. read more

The "El Califas" tacos are cooked with a layer of melted cheese in the middle which is pretty unique to them. They have lots of meat choices as well The horchata was a also pretty good which comes in a bottle and makes it easier to shake/mix and drink. I just find them to be a little more bland and not my favorite. I come here for the chicharron, and eat it fresh at their outdoor seating area so the cheese is still warm and melty. They really tried to make an ambiance even though it's parked behind/beside a gas station. The turf and benches don't feel like they're in the way of the parking lot. My friends live near here so we came for an early dinner one night before they closed. The gentleman who was helping was super nice and as others have said, gave me a chicharron taco to try. I also got a carne asada taco and both were delicious. The chicharron was packed with flavor from the red sauce and ended up being my favorite, but the carne asada was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. The other toppings were fresh but the meat really shone. If you don't have a high spice tolerance like me though, make sure to ask for the salsa on the side as it is SPICY. My friend and I had to order a second round without salsa because our first round was too spicy (can't complain too much about more tacos :D). Just moved to the area from LA, and was searching for some great tacos. As friend suggested this place and it did not disappoint. The asada was def above average- and not too greasy. Pastor was also very good, but I didn't see a trompo in the truck. Might have been a little better if it was shaved off fresh. But the flavor was good. New taco is the pollo Diablo and it surprised me. Def very tasty and had a great kick. The Califas taco adds queso to the mix- the kind where they throw it on the griddle and that adds a whole other level of awesomeness. They put a califa hot sauce on all the tacos which is very good, but I wish they included some of their salsa roja or other options. I saw after I ordered that you could get some for $.50 but it was too late as the line was backing up. Next time. I think the salsa might up the game quite a bit. The menu is pretty simple, decide how many tacos you want (probably 3) and which meats (or non-meat) you want. They have asada, al pastor, veggie, chicharrones, barbacoa and pollo. They also ask if you want cheese, which is this special "califa" style with the cheese melted between the two tortillas, as opposed to on top of the meat. Menu is simple but I do suggest if you are ordering tacos to order it "califas style". You won't regret it! I had 2 chicharron tacos califas style. Topped with the normal garnish of onion, cilantro and their salsa. Chicharron is cooked in a red sauce and with the sauce and the salsa you can't help but drip some of that goodness down your hands, as you take a bite, but don't you dare let a drip go to waste and by all means lick your hands and arms if need be! Hubby had one barbacoa and one chicken tacos califas style and he said both were delicious. I also bought a chicharron quesadilla for my youngest and 2 veggie tacos, califas style to take to my eldest son. Both boys were pleased. I got 3x Al Pastor Tacos was $13.6. By doing the math, it seems like they charge $4.2 for each taco and add $1 for credit card fee. They sure are taxing the apple employees that work near the buildings. Super burrito is also listed at $12.~. There also wasn't pricing listed when we went. They provide the option to add cheese and they layer the cheese between the tortilla. While I enjoyed the tacos, pretty unique and worthwhile, the pricing and extra fee did leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Randomly found this truck on Yelp and decided to try it out. This is a food truck parked in the back of a gas station with like 4 parking spots. Really easy to miss. Came on a Monday evening and ordered Al Pastor and asada tacos with orange sauce. Not sure what happened here but ALL of the meat was old - it even had a smell because it was left out for too long. Tacos were dry and inedible. Orange sauce tasted a bit sour, which I know isn't right. Came here with a friend after reading reviews. I didn't take a picture and I didn't expect to write a review, but here I am. I ordered a Super burrito and my friend ordered a Shrimp burrito. I was so hungry and enjoyed my burrito so much while eating I contemplated ordering another one my friend agreed. My burrito was flavorful and thinking about it makes my mouth water. My best food find so far. A place I wish I could give 6 stars. One of the reasons I started my food account on Instagram so I can share places like these that I find with the world. Their unique style of making tacos is their califas style with melted cheese between grilled tortillas, and choice of meat and salsa on top. The al pastor and carne asada in particular are always fantastic and I get them every time. No other Mexican place I've been to makes tacos in this style, and I wish they would. This is the superior way to consume tacos. I prefer the mild red salsa but the spicy green one is also great for you spice fanatics. Every person I bring here ends up ordering twice and always underestimates how much they'll like it.
