pick Combination (2 Items) - chile verde enchilada and beef tamale
    Jocelyn S.

The staff accommodated my large group for lunch very well. They had a large table with excellent chips and salsa ready for us as we arrived. They kept making sure we were all taken care of during our meal. I ordered a 2 item combo with a chile verde enchilada and beef tamale. Both were delicious! The combo came with rice and beans. I loved the extra melty cheese on the beans. Lots of parking in the lot. Average pricing. Great for groups!

We went with a large group of coworkers so we were seated outside in the parking lot patio area with low rent picnic tables. The servers were friendly and efficient. Considering we ordered 16 entrees, it all came out fast. I got the chicken enchiladas which were just ok. For the price point, I would expect more than one enchilada. There was lots of chicken but barely any other flavor. The dribbles of sour cream and guacamole were insufficient to balance out the flavor.

Located in a plaza, there was plenty of parking. There were actually a decent amount of customers inside and outside on a Wednesday afternoon. There is space for large parties as well. The servers were friendly and always checking up on us and seeing if we needed anything. Chips and salsa were a nice complimentary addition to the table. We ordered carnitas sopes which had a nice citrusy taste. The carne asada was not dry and flavorful. The dough itself was not crispy and pretty doughy in texture. It could not be eaten with your hands because it was too wet and would fall apart. The chicken in the mole was super tender and the mole sauce was more on the savory side rather than sweet and had a bitter taste. The carne asada burrito was okay. It had rice beans and meat throughout however the tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole were only placed in the middle of the two halves of the burrito. There was no description for what would be in the burrito so I can't complain. The carne asada itself was slightly over salted. The pineapple juice I ordered was either over fermented or had bubbly water added to it.

#Ambiance here is authentic Tiajuana, BC vibe. If you love #Cantinflas, you will love this fine Mexican restaurant. I have enjoyed my twenty years dining at this fine establishment. The food and service are excellent and quintessential Tiajuana.

I met up with some friends here recently and hadn't been here for many years. The place is very clean, and the food and service were great! I ordered the carnitas burrito. Delicious! The meat was very tender and everything else proportional even, meaning there wasn't too much rice, etc. I was expecting a grande burrito but my bad in expecting so and shouldn't compare them to other restaurants. Once again, the service was excellent!

I ordered online and the order was ready by the time I got there. Tia Juana is located in a strip mall, plenty of parking. I got in and out in seconds. I just headed to the counter up front and they handed me my order. I think the horchata might have been sitting for awhile because the spices all settled at the bottom and we wound up adding ice and stirring it up. Not a complaint, but that first sip was THICC. The burrito was yummy, guac was included! Everything was very flavorful. I'd definitely come back!

Went here for lunch with my colleagues. The service was fast, with the server bringing us chips and salsa almost the same time we sat down. I ordered the red snapper which came with rice, tortillas and beans. Got the hot sauce on the side. The fish was very flavorful and the sauce added to the taste. Ambiance of the restaurant complemented the food. Will be back here again.

The Tia Juana salad with shrimp was absolutely scrumptious! I was pleasantly surprised about its amazing taste. Shrimps were freshly grilled with flavors, salad was fresh, and tostada shell was crispy. Our second time here. It was a busy lunch hour but service was prompt and friendly. The lady came, asked about the food and gave us a cheerio when leaving. Located in an old/ugly plaza, this small restaurant stands out in its own charm with a warm and fuzzy feel. It has an interesting interior decoration that is filled with paintings, mural, artifacts and a bookshelf. Outdoor patio is covered in tents, lined with picket fences and colorful flower planters. The vibe was exuberant. Lovely experience with excellent food. Will return.

Large Menudo w/ pata, hominy, and choice of corn or flour tortillas | $16

Shrinkflation be hitting hard at Tia Juana Mexican Grill.... It was my first time having to ration tripe like it was a famine. Because they serve up the smallest "large" menudo I've had for $16 (pata took up a good portion of the bowl): https://tinyurl.com/mvfrafd6. When the server brought it out, I thought they ran out of large bowls and had split into two small ones. She confirmed we were being served a large which is less than half the portion from eateries I frequent in The Mission and Excelsior in the city. Small size aside, how was it? Menudo is all about that meltingly soft offal in a soulful broth. This one not so much. The skin on the pata (pig's foot) was still crunchy, as was the honeycomb tripe. The hominy was tender tho. The broth was devoid of any flavor. Doctoring it up with the accompanying white onions, dried oregano, chili peppers, cilantro, and squeeze of lime helped a little. It's served with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. We choose flour and it's your standard industrial ones. They provide complimentary chips with red salsa that low key reminds me of Pace Picante. It's free so no complaints. We ordered a small side of guacamole (not the appetizer size) for dipping. It was half an avocado mixed with a chockfull of onions...steep for $8. Service was very fast and the busboy was such a sweetheart (hence the 3 stars). He brought TT a bowl of water without asking. ASK for an itemized bill! I was shown a non-itemized bill with the total of $29.14 but when I received the receipt to sign, I was charged $30.24 (pre-tip). This is not an isolated experience if you read other reviews. The only logical explanation is they charge a credit card surcharge. I don't mind paying a cc surcharge but they need to be transparent and communicate this to customers. Overall, I know Tia Juana has a loyal following in Sunnyvale but kinda I'm surprised by the high ratings. Maybe we ordered wrong or it was an off day for the menudo. They've been a neighborhood staple for over two decades so they're obvs doing something right!

Excellente food! I love the chilaquies. The staff, and chef are amazingly friendly, very welcoming. Happy, and casual ambiance feels like family .

We ordered the following: Goat empanadas Crispy Quinoa and Tuna Salad Smoked Salmon Dip with pita bread Potato Crepe The Asian influence is very strong in the menu which I think is always great tasting familiar flavors. I thought that most of the dishes were very well thought out, the flavors balanced each other well and offered a new twist to "brunch". I did think the quinoa salad dressing was quite salty and the potato crepe had a pool of oil. Overall everything else tasted quite yummy!
