Prince Edward Island Mussels
Adam P.

I'm really torn on this review because the atmosphere and some of the food were truly top-tier, but the way the bill was handled left a sour taste that will likely keep us from coming back. The vibe here is spot on. It's sophisticated, upscale, dark, and modern. Exactly what you want for a nice night out. Our waitress was initially great; she was friendly, attentive, and even gave us a "last call" heads-up for a final round of happy hour cocktails before the clock turned. As for the food, we started with a couple of appetizers. The Best Cut Tartare was the undisputed star of the show. It's made with filet mignon, truffled crostini, and bone marrow, and it might be the best tartare I've ever had. If you go, do not skip this. We also had the PEI Mussels with chorizo and saffron. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan. Not that it was bad, but the flavors just didn't quite meld together for me. For the mains, my wife had the Lamb Shank. The flavor was good, though the portion was a bit small and the meat was slightly on the dry side. I had the Prime Beef Tenderloin Bolognese with fresh handmade pasta. It was very tasty and, while a smaller portion, it was actually just right after the appetizers. The real disappointment came when the bill arrived. Despite being handed the happy hour menus at our table and our waitress actively taking our orders from it (including the "last call" mention), none of the discounts were applied. When I asked about it, she explained that happy hour pricing is only honored at the bar. It felt like a total bait-and-switch. Why provide the menu at a table and encourage happy hour orders if you aren't going to honor the prices? Since she didn't want to make it right, I paid the bill and didn't make a scene, but it was incredibly frustrating. Great food and a beautiful space, but the lack of accountability ruined the experience. There are too many other great spots in the area to deal with that kind of frustration.

Steak tartare

After reading the previous reviews it seemed like this place can be hit or miss but our experience was great! The steak tartare is the best I've ever had. Even my boyfriend who had never tried it and was highly skeptical ended up loving it! The steaks were cooked well. The drinks were delicious. Service was fabulous. I don't remember the name of our server but she was perfectly attentive. It's also very beautiful inside. Will definitely be back!

Lobster Risotto and Chilean Sea Bass

Went to Law's for the first time last night and I have mixed feelings, not bad overall but was hoping for a bit more. The service was decent but the pour on my $15 glass of wine was disappointing. The mussels were great but the lobster risotto just tasted just fishy risotto, I only found 3 pieces of actual lobster. Bummed I didn't like it more, can decide if I'd be willing to try again or not, tbh!

Ordered a steak medium and it came out burnt and charred and well done on the inside.

A few too many things had gone wrong during this dinner meal on a not too busy weeknight: 1. Calamari was just little fried chopped up pieces of squid. I've never seen a calamari were it had no rings, no whole pieces. 2. Ordered a steak medium rare - got a steak nearly well done. Super charred. Extremely disappointed about this. I know they would fix it, but on a busy night, how much time would it take to fix? I was already too hungry and just ate it. 3. Ordered a salad and it never came, server never came to check and then when the table noticed there were two salads missing we brought it up. They told us it would brought to the wrong table and then when they brought out the salads they brought out the wrong one to the wrong person. The server was a nice guy who meant well. Restaurant was comfortable and ambiance was okay, but nothing that really stood out.

Valentine's Day dinner for four was a pleasant experience. The interior was warm, dark and comfortable. Our server, Dylan was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the bacon wrapped peppers stuffed with cheese which was good. Dinner included Surf and Turf, Lobster Risotto, and 8 oz Filet. The risotto was delicious and steaks had a nice blackened crust. The Surf and Turf lobster was dry and chewy and will not be ordered again. Side items of Brussels sprouts, asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Overall the food and service was good, but not to the caliber of Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris steakhouse.

Excellent service from Jay Jay tonight He was able to recommend a nice red wine to go with my steak. I ordered medium rare and it was slightly overcooked. Yet the cut of steak was so good, and the salt crust was completely spot on that nothing could ruin it. Excellent steak. Great mashed potatoes, little side of green beens, Cabernet reduction for the gravy. I started with the fig arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. I'm happy to have found this place, and equally as happy to have gotten JJ as my waiter. I'll be back!

16oz Rib Eye with bone marrow butter. Sides: Potato purée and truffle Mac n cheese. Drinks: Riesling and Pear Necessities cocktail.

The service was OK, not great, but not terrible either. The waiter took forever to take our order and I still can't figure out why... The food was amazing! There were a number of well lunch specials, very reasonably priced. I opted for the steak tips and they were delicious! It was chunks of beef served a top of a mound of mashed potatoes, smothered, and brown gravy with delicious mushrooms. It also came with one side and I opted for the steamed broccoli. The plate was under $18 and I was shocked at how much food was served and how delicious the meal was. My husband opted for a 6 ounce sirloin and shrimp lunch special and it was delicious! It came with a side and a soup or salad and was around $25. We started with the bacon appetizer and did not get a sweet treat after lunch but OMG, the bacon was delicious! Can't wait to go back to try a couple of other things off of the menu. The restaurant was clean and all in all we spent under $70 for a huge meal with lots of leftovers, perfectly cooked and extremely tasty! I always appreciate a restaurant that serves fresh baked bread and whipped butter! Can't wait to go back!

We upgraded to the wedge salad and it was absolutely delicious... What was even more amazing is that my husband and I decided to split our dinner and they actually split our entire dinner onto two plates for each serving and it was spectacular and well done. We did not ask for this. They just did it on their own. What a pleasant surprise. They have a wonderful selection of drinks and a very warm and cozy atmosphere. We will certainly come here again. Our server was spot on and actually boxed up any leftovers for us which was wonderful extra service. She was delightful.

Our waitress was amazing - friendly, made great recommendations, and talked us through the menu, answer all of our questions thoroughly. The bread was baked to perfection - crunchy but soft all at the same time. My friend got the salmon, cooked to medium and I got the Jamaican jerk chicken which was not very spicy and contained a lot of flavor. The mango chutney and green mojo combo was complex and paired well with the chicken. My friend devoured she salmon so one can only assume it was delicious! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a date night or dinner with a friend and you're in the Broomfield area, Hickory and Ash is the spot!

If anything the worst part is the shopping center where the nearby stores throw you for a moment before you commit to the eclectic variety bar. Upon entering the restaurant it smelled of seafood which I thought was interesting. I would expect this from a place like Ocean Prime but not a steak heavy place. We walked through the booths which looked really nice but were sat in a different room towards the back. We ordered a bottle of wine and the mini beef Wellingtons to start. The meat was very tender. We split the 20oz ribeye steak and had the garlic whipped mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. We had ordered the steak medium well but I feel that it was well done when we got it. The sides we ordered were great! We did order the truffle butter to go along with the steak (additional $7) which was ok. The steak itself was ok. It wasn't anything to bash about. We ordered the Nutella triangles for dessert and it was too sweet for me, very odd for me to say since I have a huge sweet tooth! Our waiter checked on us a couple of times. It wasn't that busy but it seemed that service was a bit slow. As far as pricing, I do think it's overpriced for what it is.
