I will return. I've been in Westminster a couple of years and had not tried this restaurant yet. I decided to go for happy hour since I typically dine alone. First the positive: I was greeted and treated with positive vibes. There are some hiccups about happy hour. It's only available if you sit at the bar. Having neck and back issues, barstools are not my favorite. I was however, accommodated at a table. I ordered the steak tartare and oysters on the half shell. It's called the best steak tartare for a reason. Everything about it was perfect. The plating was exceptional. It was absolutely delicious. The side of arugula salad was outstanding. The bone marrow perfectly cooked and a wonderful addition. The cheese may be a whipped ricotta? It Was absolutely perfect. However, the oysters were on the verge or had already gone bad. I ate one much to my shock. I tried half of another in case it was just a one off. It was not. typically in a really nice restaurant, You can be safe with seafood. This is not the case. My waitress was less than attentive. And though it may be my fault for not mentioning it, She might've asked why I didn't eat the oysters. They were quite abysmal. I will know better next time. I was told their steaks are locally sourced from Greeley. So I may try them someday. But they're happy hour is an amazing deal. Just stay away from the seafood. I saw good reviews on the bruschetta so I'll add that next time. So solely based on the steak Tartare and not the service or oysters. I will give this four stars otherwise it would probably be 2 to 3. And I will also return. Hope to update my review at that time. read more

First visit and it was during 5280 Week. The restaurant was not busy and gave us the regular menu. Kinda weird we had to ask for the special menu. Service was "fine" read average. The food...the crab dip and bread crisps was delicious! Two of us ordered Caesar salads. Both guests said it didn't anything like a Caesar. Dressing tasted like Thousand Island! Entree choices were a steak and 2 beef burgoneon (sp). The steak was average, and we were split on the beef burg. Dessert was yum. I'm not a big supporter. I'm really torn on this review because the atmosphere and some of the food were truly top-tier, but the way the bill was handled left a sour taste that will likely keep us from coming back. The vibe here is spot on. It's sophisticated, upscale, dark, and modern. Exactly what you want for a nice night out. Our waitress was initially great; she was friendly, attentive, and even gave us a "last call" heads-up for a final round of happy hour cocktails before the clock turned. As for the food, we started with a couple of appetizers. The Best Cut Tartare was the undisputed star of the show. It's made with filet mignon, truffled crostini, and bone marrow, and it might be the best tartare I've ever had. If you go, do not skip this. We also had the PEI Mussels with chorizo and saffron. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan. Not that it was bad, but the flavors just didn't quite meld together for me. For the mains, my wife had the Lamb Shank. The flavor was good, though the portion was a bit small and the meat was slightly on the dry side. I had the Prime Beef Tenderloin Bolognese with fresh handmade pasta. It was very tasty and, while a smaller portion, it was actually just right after the appetizers. The real disappointment came when the bill arrived. Despite being handed the happy hour menus at our table and our waitress actively taking our orders from it (including the "last call" mention), none of the discounts were applied. When I asked about it, she explained that happy hour pricing is only honored at the bar. It felt like a total bait-and-switch. Why provide the menu at a table and encourage happy hour orders if you aren't going to honor the prices? Since she didn't want to make it right, I paid the bill and didn't make a scene, but it was incredibly frustrating. Went to Law's for the first time last night and I have mixed feelings, not bad overall but was hoping for a bit more. The service was decent but the pour on my $15 glass of wine was disappointing. The mussels were great but the lobster risotto just tasted just fishy risotto, I only found 3 pieces of actual lobster. Bummed I didn't like it more, can decide if I'd be willing to try again or not, tbh! read more

A few too many things had gone wrong during this dinner meal on a not too busy weeknight: 1. Calamari was just little fried chopped up pieces of squid. I've never seen a calamari were it had no rings, no whole pieces. 2. Ordered a steak medium rare - got a steak nearly well done. Super charred. Extremely disappointed about this. I know they would fix it, but on a busy night, how much time would it take to fix? I was already too hungry and just ate it. 3. Ordered a salad and it never came, server never came to check and then when the table noticed there were two salads missing we brought it up. They told us it would brought to the wrong table and then when they brought out the salads they brought out the wrong one to the wrong person. The server was a nice guy who meant well. The food was very good, I had the Filet Oscar and my wife had the sea bass-very good. However the service was spotty and inconsistent. The timing on courses not flowing right. The drink order took 15 minutes to arrive. At the end of our main course Nick our waiter walked by 4 times leaving when everyone was done. He seemed always in a rush when he did come to the table. A birthday dessert came after we paid our check. For being a high end steak house, the service was mediocre. The management needs more training and back waiter training. Ocean Prime is the same price point. Send Nick to Ocean Prime for dinner and see how it's done properly. read more

Valentine's Day dinner for four was a pleasant experience. The interior was warm, dark and comfortable. Our server, Dylan was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the bacon wrapped peppers stuffed with cheese which was good. Dinner included Surf and Turf, Lobster Risotto, and 8 oz Filet. The risotto was delicious and steaks had a nice blackened crust. The Surf and Turf lobster was dry and chewy and will not be ordered again. Side items of Brussels sprouts, asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. Overall the food and service was good, but not to the caliber of Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris steakhouse. read more

Appalling experience. Service was awful. Food was 50/50. Although charismatic, our waiter didn't listen to a word my party or I said. Not only did the drinks take forever to get to the table they were also not what we ordered. Mind you, they were NOT busy. When it came time to order food it seemed like he understood what we asked for but then proceeded to do the complete opposite. On the bright side the appetizers were good. Now the main course was another story. My brother and I ordered the same dish. I did not enjoy the taste of whatever was on mine, some rancid yellow crab concoction so I couldn't finish my dish and my brothers was inedible due to the saltiness of the steak. He sent it back, but still got charged for it. When the bill came, it was astronomically high. (We, as in my party) had a misunderstanding about who and how we were paying as I had some gift cards but didn't get to use them. While trying to resolve this, the waiter made snark comments about my brothers "sobriety" after two glasses of wine. Then proceeded to comment about something he was wearing insinuating he could "afford the bill". I found this unbelievably unprofessional and out of place. Adding to this remarkable dining experience, about an hour later I started feeling sick, upset stomach and nausea. That was the cherry on top. Excellent service from Jay Jay tonight He was able to recommend a nice red wine to go with my steak. I ordered medium rare and it was slightly overcooked. Yet the cut of steak was so good, and the salt crust was completely spot on that nothing could ruin it. Excellent steak. Great mashed potatoes, little side of green beens, Cabernet reduction for the gravy. I started with the fig arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. I'm happy to have found this place, and equally as happy to have gotten JJ as my waiter. I'll be back! read more

We came in with high hopes--5:30 reservation, greeted warmly, solid start. But after the appetizers hit the table, the evening nosedived. Despite only seven tables being served and five staff members on duty (plus a GM), our dirty plates sat for over 20 minutes. Our server, Dean, didn't check in once after appetizers. Entrées were ordered mid-appetizer, but 20 minutes later, we were told the lobster tail for the surf & turf was no longer available. Why the delay in telling us? And why wasn't the order placed right away? I reluctantly switched to the Norwegian salmon, and after a long wait, entrees arrived. Two were decent; two were not. My salmon was dry, poorly seasoned, and visually unappealing. The sides--couscous with no lobster, bland squash purée, and undressed arugula--were no better. The lobster risotto was underseasoned and lacked Parmesan or a proper pairing. My husband, an executive chef, was especially unimpressed. When we voiced our concerns to Abe, the general manager, he said, "To each their own." No apology. No ownership. If the Lawrences want to be a true chophouse, they should visit Shanahan's, Elway's, or Chart House to see what fine dining actually looks like. Laws Chophouse is a very expensive restaurant with a responsibility to deliver the very best and to employ staff who understand and embody these principles. We chose this location to celebrate my birthday, expecting a level of excellence consistent with its pricing and stated reputation. I am an expert in wine with an international reputation based on my published work, and I have also served as an executive chef, even though culinary arts are not the field of my formal academic training. I am often brought into restaurants to educate waiting staff on their wine programs because a lack of knowledge in this area can quickly create avoidable problems. That background shapes my expectations--not in an unreasonable way, but in a way that aligns with the standards this restaurant claims to uphold. First, a very nice and well-intentioned, but clearly uninformed waitress announced that she was going to give me a complimentary fizz for my birthday, proudly proclaiming, this is a Prosecco and it is from France. I explained to her that Prosecco is from Italy, made from the Glera grape, and undergoes its secondary fermentation in pressurized tanks, as opposed to Champagne, which uses Chardonnay and undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle. She shook her head with confident ignorance and disagreed with the factual explanation I provided. What she was serving was not Prosecco at all, but rather a French sparkling wine. This reflects a lack of training in a restaurant that positions itself at a premium level, and when staff confidently present incorrect information, it diminishes trust and undermines the credibility of the establishment. Second, the man at the table next to us ordered the exact same dish, steak and lobster, and like me requested the steak to be prepared medium rare. Both of us received steaks cooked to medium well and sent them back. When the dishes were returned, both steaks were undercooked to the point of being raw. This inconsistency reveals a serious issue in the kitchen, because cooking a steak to temperature is a foundational skill in a steakhouse operating at this price point. The inability to consistently execute something so basic suggests a breakdown in training, communication, or quality control. These two setbacks were unforgivable within the expectations of a restaurant in this category. The bottle of wine priced at $125 was merely average and did not justify its cost, and the wine list overall appeared significantly overpriced relative to quality and market value. In its current state, this establishment does not live up to its pricing, and there is a clear gap between what is promised and what is delivered. The restaurant has potential, but it has a long way to go, and it would benefit from serious investment in staff education, wine knowledge, and consistency in food preparation. At this moment, the restaurant does not deliver a level of quality that justifies the price they charge. They need outside help. read more

We ate at Law's Chophouse on Sunday. Everything started out wonderfully but went downhill quickly. The restaurant was not overly busy. The service was horrible. We asked for Italian soda for the kids 5 times until it was brought to the table. But it was after the meal was finished. Steak was served but no steak knives were brought with it. Coffee was not refilled. After 2 requests the coffee was finally refilled but it was cold. These are only a few examples of the extremely poor service. Upon leaving the restaurant we spoke to a gentleman who stated he was the manager. He said he knew the service was bad but "that's fine." That is totally unacceptable, especially for an upscale steakhouse. read more

We came for mother's day brunch. Service was ATROCIOUS. My kids ordered drinks that I asked multiple servers/bussers for at least 4 times. When the main server came over and I asked him/told him I had asked several times his response was "did you ask me?" Kids meals came with dessert. They brought the check and I had to ask about the kids' dessert. No one else was asked if they wanted anything. Coffee was requested multiple times before it was refilled. My mom spoke to the manager ans his response was "I heard all about it and its OK." For an expensive restaurant they need to work on their attitudes. But that's ok, we wont be returning. read more

Walked into the restaurant and was impressed with the ambiance. Very clean and upscale. Ordered the PEI mussels which were delicious. The complimentary bread had a great yeasty aroma, and was delicious. Now the downside... I ordered Filet Oscar medium-rare (seared with a warm red interior). It arrived medium to medium-well. I ate it to aviod another lengthy wait. My wife ordered the Hawaiian Steak Frites medium-well (slightest pink interior). It arrived charred with one end so burnt she picked it up and broke the end off. The outside of the filet was charred, while the center of the steak was red. They must have took a very chilled steak and threw it on the hottest portion of the grill in order to get this result. She ate a couple of bites and said we'd take the rest home for me to eat. At home, I tried to scrape the char off but eventually threw it out. Down to the dessert, Creme Brule. Presentation looked good upon first sight with fresh berry topping. When we got into it, the browned sugar topping was still powered along the edges, but the middle was burnt black - bitter. The custard was the consistency of gravy - not firm at all. Tasted just OK, but not expected. $188 for this, and left disappointed on our 38th anniversary. We celebrated my birthday and my anniversary at Laws Chophouse last year. We had such a good experience with the staff and the food, we decided to return again this year. We were seated at a cozy booth on time with our reservation and served by Dale. Through out our dinner he was extremely helpful and kind. My husband ordered a Dr. Loose Riesling that was sold out and Dale was able to offer a similar wine for us to enjoy. Another delicious Riesling wine. Exactly what we were looking for. Appetizers ordered: Shrimp gazpacho- A chilled shrimp appetizer dressed with cucumbers and a zesty tomato-based sauce. Fresh and delicious. Brussels Sprouts- The Brussel sprouts are one of my favorite appetizers here. Topped with cheese and a sweet, balsamic-like drizzle. It's a blend of sweet and savory that keeps me coming back for just one more bite...and another...and another until I'm left with a clean plate. Main course: 16oz Rib Eye, Medium rare. Cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The bone marrow butter was rich and decadent. The stand out side was the Truffle Mac cheese. The truffle was the perfect amount of savory and cheesy. I have had this dish at other establishments and found the truffle over powering to the point of nausea. I was very pleased with this dish because the flavors were very well-balanced. We ordered the crème brûlée for dessert. Creamy custard with fresh fruit was a great ending to our dinner. If you have the opportunity to try their house-made sorbets, I highly recommend those. Calimari was all rings, no tentacles. Ideally you'd have a mixed. They were under-seasoned. Bruschetta was quite good. Steaks came out with no seasoning and 2/3 were very overcooked. Medium-rare came out like shoe leather. For the price, there needs to be more accountability at the grill station. This place has potential. Don't be scared of seasoning your food.... read more

Came in with friends for restaurant week and left disappointed. We had a reservation for 7:00 and finally got out just before 10pm. Mixed Drinks were good, however the wine we wanted was out so we settled for a bottle that was slightly more. Meal came with appetizers of Brussel Sprouts and Italian nachos which were good, followed by a salad. We all picked the wedge based on our servers suggestion. It was not a good choice. It was less than good - it had big chunks of red onion and a dressing that was not a traditional blue cheese and no one loved it. The entree most chose was the steak and two of us picked the chicken. We both Literally, took two bites and done. It was so over cooked and tough, it wasn't even worth eating. There were fried onions in top that I normally love but these were flavorless. The kind you get out of a frenchies can are better. Seriously. Blah! The server did comp our meal but I would have preferred to have a delicious dinner and come home full. The vibe is very nice and the place is well decorated. Service was good for the most part but I think they must have been short staffed because our server was not around as much as he should've been and we were there for 3 hours! This was our first visit for all of us and sadly, we all left saying we expected better. Seriously, I now understand "buttery" when it comes to steak. Just delicious. However, the place had some struggles with even getting our meals out to us. Over an hour since we ordered our food and we burned through a bottle of wine. Luckily, our waiter Nick came to the rescue to expedite the situation. Even gave us another bottle on the house. My husband brought me here for my birthday recently and it was a very mediocre experience. The prices are very high so the expectation would be that the service would align. The servers seemed very new and not very timely or communicative. My husband ordered the lobster risotto and they came back to say they were out of lobster, which is absolutely fine. After some time passed she came back and asked him what he wanted and turns out they were also out of that, which was not communicated. I ordered my steak med rare and it came out medium. Water was not refilled for the duration of our meal. Our finished plates sat in front of us for a very long time and were finally taken right before we were leaving. It was not a busy night, there were maybe 5 or 6 other tables occupied. There is supposedly a dress code that we were the only ones who paid attention to. The interior itself is very pretty and the food was good enough, but definitely not worth the price. If you want to spend that much on a meal I'd recommend Capital Grille or Hideaway Steakhouse for higher end food and service. Overall was OK but will not return. read more

This a steak house of the best kind! We had the Filet Mignon Trio and if this is your favorite cut, order this! Each trio is topped with Béarnaise, crab romanesco, green chile gorgonzola. It depends on your preference, but each topping matches the cut so well. A more robust taste would be the one topped with Gorgonzola. Salad: Burrata and Tomatoes was a big hit as well. Fresh! Dessert: Deconstructed Brownies. The Best! Mildly disappointing experience. The menu reads like one of the higher end Steakhouses so we thought we would give it a try. The ambiance was impacted due to being seated next to the bar. There are some nicer tables if you're able to be away from the bar. Service was mixed. Our server was very nice, conscientious and overall very good. That said, no specials were available and no other support staff were provided. Food was over priced for the quality delivered. We both ordered the surf and turf (6oz filet + 4oz lobster tail). Both were prepared well and tasted fine. However, for the price I thought both were somewhat bland. The vegetables were seriously undercooked. Desert was very good but gooey cookies and ice cream are hard to do bad. Most likely we'll be trying other steakhouses in the surrounding area before considering going back. read more

Service was horrendous and painfully slow -- it took 20 minutes just to get a drink, and I had to ask for another after sitting empty for more than 15 minutes. We waited over an hour for our food, and it wasn't even busy. Because we were a large party in the conference room with a limited menu, they wouldn't allow us to add bread or any appetizers, which felt unnecessarily restrictive. The staff seemed confused and multiple orders were messed up. The small salad had hardly any dressing, and the side of green beans was portioned like it was meant for a child. Let's start with the positive..the steaks were great the sides were huge (think about sharing). The things they need to work on...the server didn't tell us there were specials (Fathers Day). We ordered appetizers and specifically asked for them to come out before the meal (one didn't). When the appetizers came out the server didn't come by and ask if everything was okay (it wasn't). Same thing happened when the main course came out. No checking on how we were doing. One of the sides was wrong. The drink we ordered took forever to arrive and when it did there was something in the glass. Amazingly enough she fixed the drink in a minute (did she dump the drink from one glass to another)?
