Switched to breaded fish + breaded shrimp. Rated it 4/10. Very thin breading, barely any flavor. The 3-4 shrimp on top were also pre-cooked and tasteless. *Accessibility*: Place is very small and not wheelchair accessible. Staff had to physically move furniture out of the way so I could get through with my chair. Not ideal. *Price*: $80 total for my son's 3 tacos, daughter's small order, wife's 1 shrimp ceviche, tostadas, and my plate. Extremely expensive for the quality. Wonderful Mexican seafood place. It's a big change up from the usual Mexican fare that's just loaded with cheese and beans and rice. Here the dishes are way different! I went with the cameron sopas with green sauce. The sopas were a delicate corn flavor packed with shrimp, green sauce, lettuce, cheese and sour cream. With three to an order, it was appropriate for a lunch. The hubs went with chicken enchiladas and they were among the best we've had. Just happened to wander into this place on a Saturday night. Unbelievable! The menu is a bit overwhelming, but it seemed like anything would be a great choice. My wife and I shared the #5 (shrimp sauteed in garlic butter). The 12 or so shrimp were SO amazing -- cooked perfectly and so succulent. It was served with a generous portion of perfectly cooked, tender, steamed rice, along with a small portion of salad. We also shared the #53 (shrimp cocktail). There were around 12 medium-sized boiled shrimp, several huge chunks of delicious avocado, and a nice light tomato-based sauce with ample amounts of crisp diced onion and cilantro. Service was quick, and the server came by several times to check on us and make sure everything was ok. Complimentary homemade chips and salsa were brought out first. Simple, but awesome. The salsa was fresh, tasty, and about a 6 out of 10 on the spice. We'll be back for sure. read more

Damn. I really wanted to love the Crazy Shrimp, but my experience was kind of a let-down. First of all, holy expensive!! Judging from the look of the tiny, stuccoed cube with the homegrown murals painted all over its slightly run-down exterior, you wouldn't expect to see prices north of the $12 point on all but a few menu items! At least I didn't. But really, the only thing you can get for less than a ten-spot is a fish taco. ONE fish taco. Or a shrimp taco. ONE shrimp taco. Four dollars apiece. Being as how I hadn't planned on an expense-account meal, these were the two items I opted for. One of each. At $4 per, I was expecting something really, really amazing... ...but no. The fish taco, I hate to say (really, I do!), was worse than what you'd find at Rubio's, a chain. The fish was dried-out and flavorless. The shrimp taco was even worse. Those little crazies were cooked to within an inch of their lives (huh?) and then diced into oblivion so as maybe to mask the fact that they were tough and rubbery. NOT what you'd hope to find at a place with "shrimp" in its moniker! To add insult to injury, after I'd eaten my nearly-$10 meal, I was still hungry. This is not what I've come to expect from my hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints along Federal! For my money, I could've gotten 4 or 5 BETTER tacos at Tacos y Salsas and had leftovers ta' boot. Don't let the ghetto exterior fool you. When I stepped inside I felt like I was back in Mexico in an authentic restaurant on the yucatan peninsula. The menu is large and overwhelming if you don't speak Spanish, which is probably why they have pictures. None the less, my meal was very tasty. This is one of my more favorite restaurants of the Denver Metro area! El Cameron Loco is actually a small local chain and many people might not know this, but they have locations on Havana Street in Aurora, another in Commerce City and one more in Brighton. I've eaten at the Brighton place a few times, all very good experiences, but the Federal Blvd. location is my spot. Nothing fancy, that's for sure. Counter service and some counter seating up front and a few bench table in the back. Here's what you need to know in advance of walking in for the first time... The menu can literally be overwhelming. It is all above the service counter, but I find it is MUCH EASIER to grab one of their paper menus located on the counter, take it to a quiet spot and study it. The menu has EIGHTY seafood items on it! So far I have found if it sounds good to you, get it! I wish I had one of their menus now so I could talk about the items more specifically. #70 I believe is their fillet of sole oven baked in foil with ham, shrimp, octopus and cheese served with a green sauce. Wow! They serve a traditional Huachinango which is a deep fried whole red snapper, another of my favorites. All the shrimp dishes I have tried there are great! Both the bacon wrapped and coconut shrimp are hard to beat! They have some great selections in either green or white sauces. They have a shrimp in 3 styles that is a good choice if you want shrimp. They have this dish, #30 I think, that is chopped up pieces of shrimp, scallops, octopus, ham and bacon and sautéed with cheese. Served with tortillas, it is almost decadent and it is a huge portion! They are quite liberal with all their portions it seems. Though I have not tried either their ceviche or cocktail de cameron, I can tell you they are both popular there! They also have homemade flan available for dessert, but I am so stuffed by the time I am done with my meal, there is no room for dessert. There are some reviewers panning this chain for their prices. I disagree with them! This is good fresh, well prepared seafood and that don't come cheap in Denver, but they have fair prices in my opinion. The Crazy Shrimp is a must if you want fast fresh seafood. The filete is simple, but amazing in that crispy freshly fried fish taste that is hard to rival. The shrimp cocktails are pretty good also, if you can eat a pound of shrimp and gazpacho in one sitting. Unless you are a shrimp fanatic, you might want to split this with someone else or order another thing because they really champion the never-ending shrimp goblet. read more
