This place is amazing. There are two entrances so you might have to search for the host station if you came in to the bar. There were 6 of us and we each got different things to share. Food was great, huge portions so beware. Our server came by frequently to check on us. I drink so much tea but she did an ok job keeping it full. The dining area reminds me of the 80s but not in a dirty way, more nostalgic. Awesome place to check out if you are downtown. read more

Nothing special about the drinks but I did receive some bits of nostalgia; not strong, but delicious....Mexican butter with my fajitas, oh Lord they brought out the Mexican butter...sopped up my bacon wrapped shrimp and lobster from my Waterstreet Parrillada entree. Oooweee don't let that price tag keep you up at night. Worth every bit of the $75. You and a lucky somebody can split this right down the middle because It's paired with double rice and beans! Went here on Saturday with my bf and we loved it! Surprisingly we went for an early dinner and the patio wasn't too busy, it started filling up as the evening went on. The service was quick and everyone was so friendly!! Our server was helpful and had great recommendations which was helpful because it was our first time. The food portions were much bigger than I expected them to be. They bring out complimentary salsa and it comes with three salsas and yummy, fresh chips. The queso was HUGE. We expected a small bowl but it came in a small sized skillet - they did not skimp haha I got chicken tinga quesadillas and he got the birria tacos, both great choices! Our favorite was the margarita flight that our server recommended and we will definitely be getting that again (the prickly pear and mango were sooo delicious) The atmosphere was wonderful. I've waited to make a review about El Camino because I really wanted to like it! Every time we come to corpus for work, my coworkers rave about this place and I just don't see it. I've eaten here 3 times and each time the food is just disgusting. The first time I came I got the birria tacos and they were not good. We got the churro donut and it was so DRY!! Our server was also so terrible. She said that we could not split the ticket and handed us the iPad and then we literally split the bill our self. We've been servers and knew the system. Second time, service was better but food was gross!!! I got the quesadilla and it was mid. Nothing special. The third time I came and service was actually much better, but the food was so nasty. At this point, I was scared to try any food so we got the queso and nasty. Also, the smell in there?? Smells foul. I think the outside looks cool but so not worth it. read more

This is the best place to eat in Corpus Christi and I'll die on that hill!! This place is so amazing. The food is super flavourful and the service there has always been so great each time I've visited. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated as well so it gives a classy dining vibe. Each time I've visited they've also been super generous with the complimentary chips and dip too which is a huge bonus. I loved the look and feel of this place. The table was a bit small for four people, so we had to maneuver around our drinks, plates, salsa, and chips. Two people in my group ordered the seafood enchiladas, which they said were very good. I tried the steak picanha, a steak topped with cheese. It tasted delicious, but the rice and beans didn't feel authentic to me. The drinks seemed made from real fruit, and the chips and salsa were fantastic. When I moved back to Corpus Christi a little over six (6) years ago, I have to admit I was a bit of a foodie snob. In particular, my gripe was with the city's options for Tex-Mex cuisine. Anyone familiar with my food habits (via pictures and reviews) will know that I am very well versed in this specific genre as it fascinated me when I lived "In the Loop" ("ITL") in Houston. I have sampled it all over the state and have always been a bit disappointed that there wasn't anything here in Corpus that matched the quality found elsewhere. That is until now. Welcome, El Camino Comida & Bar! This is legit "big city" Tex-Mex. From atmosphere to food, they have pinned it down, and it fits in very well in downtown Corpus. They just opened a few weeks ago, so time will tell how they fare; but we are approaching Summer (translation = "tourist season"), so my assumption is that they will perform well with both locals and those visiting. I have only been here twice, but plan on frequenting the place quite often. I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it so far, and should management stay on top of things, I do not see any reason they will not turn out to be a huge hit for the city! read more

We stumbled on El Camino while in Corpus Christi and what a great find! We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for our table and loved the spicy mule! We were a party of 12, but still had fast, friendly service. Fun decorations and friendly staff and decently priced menu. My adult son had the quesadillas (off the appetizers) and couldn't finish it! The salsa was excellent! Afterwards everyone rated their meals as "mid"; not great but not bad. We sat inside, but the outside looked fun and we would definitely go back for drinks and apps. read more

So the beef fajitas were actually really good and juicy, with nice seasoning!! The smell of that is what attracted us to this place lol But the rice and beans that came with it were not great. Beans tasted like a can of ranch style beans and rice was just not good. I didn't even get a picture. Such a fun place with amazing ambiance. They have mariachis going around which makes it super fun. The service was also great, our waitress was on top of everything and super fast. As for the food, not my favorite place. Not sure if it is because I am not a big Tex Mex fan but I higher expectations since as soon as I got in it smelled so good. Had an awesome time at this Corpus Christi Mexican place. The ambience and decor is great and our waiter was excellent. The drink specials are good all around but my favorite was the la fresa. The drinks are not very strong so be ready for the second. A lot of cooking performed on an open charcoal pit. My favorite part of the meal was the appetizers they were all fantastic. Next time I will survive of drinks and appetizers. The dynamite sticks had a lot of flavor. You are served with salsa, jalapeño dip, and ranch with chips. The avocado crab salad was good and a very large portion. It could be improved by lump crab instead of mashed. Overall a great pick for a night out. read more

Ambiance - best described as 60/70's Mexican Mob Boss who owns a home in Texas. Service - the waitress was wonderful, she let us know what was good and what we should probably stay away from which was appreciated Food - we went for the ceviche, but quickly realized it wasn't a normal ceviche so we opted to do dynamite sticks (crawfish and shrimp flautas). The sea food tasted frozen, it was mostly dough and one shrimp for an entire "flauta". For being so close to the water it's disappointing that it didn't taste more fresh. The salsas provided at the beginning and the chips served were wonderful and flavorful, the choriqueso was good, but it tasted like ground beef with the taco seasoning packet. I'm back! I think I should be Mayor of El Camino, because I go so much. We ordered a lot of food, but I wanted to focus on the outside area and the quesadillas this time. The eatery has new swings outside. I sat in one and it helped up. I was impressed. I had a drink and talked to locals to get advice on what to do in CC. The Quesadillas are the best I've ever tasted. Great drink and food menu. Somewhat familiar items with a different flare. The price point is low to moderate! Our server Kaleigh (not sure if I spelled it correctly) was great and very attentive! On Friday and Saturday after 10 pm they have a taco bar you can order from but be aware we were not told the regular menu closes at that time. We ordered chicken tinga and birria tacos from the taco bar menu and they were good. The street corn was my favorite and I loved the oysters we ordered as well. I'm visiting from out of town and was there with family so I am sure I will be back on my next trip! read more

They sent out freezer burned corn, rotten cheese, shrimp nachos had 3 tiny pieces of shrimp like they cut 1 shrimp into thirds. Chicken was undercooked and tortillas tasted and felt like they were warmed in the microwave. Service was ok. We had to keep asking for things like water refill of the karafe. The fire sticks were gooey and I didn't see any shrimp or crab in them at all. The fresh purple cabbage was good. The music playing was nice. read more

Art walk was going on and the place was packed with people.(Happy to see them doing a good business) Ended up sitting at the bar and ordered dinner there. I ordered Carbon tacos. While waiting for our food ordered a couple of drinks that were fantastic! When our food arrived my tacos looked like something out of a Stouffer's frozen dinner. I had to double check the menu to make sure that, what I had ordered was what was put in front of me. Maybe because they were super busy but what they served me was dry, lifeless and disappointing. The meat was dry and tough and there was very little of it. The top of the refried beans was dried to a crust. $22 for this plate of dried beans and rice and an ounce of meat in a tortilla you couldn't cut with a fork felt real pricey. People weren't lying about their chips and salsa! They are delicious. I had an horchata colada, soooooo good and a big red margarita yum! We had the tuna tostadas, those are so good as well. Then for lunch I had the tacos carbon and my husband had the shrimp enchiladas and our daughter had the kids crunchy taco plate. My daughter loved her taco didn't touch her rice or beans (which I'm glad bc it had some kind of spice that I know she wouldn't like) we didn't like the Spanish rice or the beans. As someone mentioned they are refried beans but have a ranch style bean flavor to them. The rice my husband got with his enchiladas was good, it was a rice pilaf. We have been to El Camino twice and this is hands down the best place to eat in Corpus. The food and drinks are delicious. We got the fajitas both times. We tried a variety of margaritas and they were all great. The chips and salsa are amazing. We also really enjoyed the churro donuts. The service was also excellent. Our waiters have been great and the managers are out in the floor interacting with guests and making sure everything is perfect. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. This place is kinda hidden inside the little courtyard area by the Water Street Oyster House. Really nice bar, quick & friendly service, and delicious food. I was a little disappointed that the drafts were inoperable that night (nothing better after a hot day near the beach than a cold pint mug of Pacifico), but the complimentary chips and three types of salsa/ranch/sauce made up for it. I ended up with a 12oz. bottle of Pacifico poured in a frosty mug...not quite the same experience, and about the same prize ($5.50 vs. $6). I asked the barkeep for a recommendation, and she offered the seafood enchiladas, and they were amazing. It was a generous portion, large enough to take some back to the hotel and finish the next day for lunch. There were a lot of items on the menu that will definitely bring me back. Hopefully the draft-beer issue will be figured out by then. read more

Along with the Cadillac to drink; El Tesora Repo, Grand Marnier, Orange Curraco, Lime, Agave. Service was quick but moderate traffic at the time. The building is very unique and has very diverse music. Great place to bring your family, does have a choice of eating outside or inside. I highly recommend this location. They had some of the worst rice...worst beans... worst queso... worst chips, weirdest flavored meats, but somehow with everything eaten together it's a amazing flavor. It's like a Mexican charcuterie board. It's sooooo weird anywhere else I would hate if their stuff tasted like this but it's weirdly good. Service was awesome no complaints there. The area was so nice and felt fancy even tho price was not. I will say let's stop with the small tables we had to combine tables because of the space on them. We only ordered an app and entre and there was no room for the waters or plates. And finally let's stop with the self serve water the bottles are like 20 lbs it's so annoying lol.
