My dad recommended it to me so i went for lunch while on a job-site near by & OMG, amazing! They bring a lil fideo soup complimented, so homey and delicious. I wanted more! I ordered the chicken flauta plate; they were huge, crunchy and soooooo yummy, i couldn't even finish the 4 that came with it. The rice was delicious as well. My brother ordered the chilaquilles & omg, DELICIOUS! Definitely recommend for authentic & yummy Mexican food. read more

Being in the area, I tried to find a place that could satisfy my Latin cuisine craving. Having had pork en salsa verde before, I had expectations of how it was going to taste. Although it was still OK, it was not my favorite. The texture was thicker than expected, and there was a flavor profile that was just missing. Pork was also pretty tough. The tamale was small and could've used some kind of sauce or dip with it. Ordered the chicken tacos, was expecting grilled chicken but instead got some sort of pulled chicken that was incredibly dry. Asked for corn tortillas, as it wasn't specified on the menu if they were corn or flour, they charged $1.25 for the tortillas? Service was good, prices ok, but the tacos were bad. read more

Delicious food and good service! This is a smaller place so larger parties may need to split up or get their order to go depending on what time you get there. We were a group of 6 and came at 8:45am on a Thursday and easily got a spot. I got the steak omelet and it was so good! I got a homemade tortilla instead of the toast, and that was a nice touch. Stopped in for lunch. It's a small, strip mall restaurant. Had a busy lunchtime crowd, but we never felt rushed. The food was exactly what the doctor ordered. It was fresh, well made and delicious. I've already fallen in love with Haydees from their Oakwood location. It's one of the more authentic Mexican places you'll find in a bevy of Mexican and Latin restaurants. It's the kind of place where the salsa varies a little bit each day based on how abuelita is feeling! They serve a truly delicious breakfast, and their tamales are my favorite in town (from a restaurant). They also have very pleasant and professional servers - they'll ask if you if you red, green OR BOTH! salsas. Odd that that's a mark of quality, but it matters that they give the option instead of making you feel like a gringo when you actually want to alternate each bite with a new salsa. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Gainesville location near Best Buy is a nice looking place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's much larger than the Oakwood store, and I think gets less regular lunch crowds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Breakfast is a non-issue for seating or grabbing something on the run.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dinner can be a little more crowded as they have seating for large groups and will frequently have a party going on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The one improvement is like to see is attention to their bocadillo bread - the torta. We have eaten at Haydee's cafe several times now and it is a place I crave on a weekly basis. The staff and owners are always so nice and friendly and going out of their way to accommodate you. The food is out of this world!! One of the best Mexican we have found in a sea of Mexican places here in the Gainesville area. My only complaint is that they aren't open longer in the day, because I want to eat there 24 hours a day! Their chorizo is the best around!! This is a weekly must eat! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Haydees Cafe! We go nearly weekly and have not yet been disappointed by the food or service. The servers are always so kind to us and our toddler, who can make quite the mess. The food is always on point! Tortillas are incredible as is the entire menu. Watch out for this restaurant. They are charging 20% tips for a large table to each member of your party and ask for tips again when your are paying your bill. Way to expensive for mediocre food and delivered cold to the table. I ended up paying the most for myself because the more you consume of course the more tip I have to pay, charging me 20% extra for ordering more than everyone on the table. In that case the waitress should have pay more attention to me and offered me an excellent service, since I was to be charge the most of the table tips. My third time and the last for me. They should have said once we sit ahead of time that there would be and extra 20% charge for eating there. We won't come back! Very unhappy! read more

Was a great place to sit and relax with tasty fresh food. And BONUS, it's very inexpensive! I had the Chilaquiles. I can't even put into words how yummy it was! Was super delicious. I got the scrambled egg and bacon plate, and a sweet tea. Was about $15 but for the amount of food and quality it was fair priced. It was busy, when I came in I got the last table that was open. Despite how busy it was my food didn't take too long to come out fresh and hot. Waitresses were friendly and very attentive. So good it's our traditional weekend go-to. HOME MADE TORTILLAS DE HARINA. No restaurant anywhere nearby offers these so that alone is a reason to go here! And they're actually really delicious. This is a hidden gem in the Gainesville area. By far the best tasting GA-Mex joint with a friendly wait staff to boot. We came when they first opened and been hooked ever since.
