The chips and salsa were amazing! Five stars! Got my hopes up! And then my meal came out and my expectations were dashed into a million tiny pieces of ground beef and an enchilada that tasted like it was covered with canned sauce and a tiny slice of a chili in a ground beef gravy they called "chili rellano". Maybe from a different part of the country? I've had a lot of chili rellanos and never seen anything like that. Shoot! So disappointed. Could have been a bad choice on my part... Service was fast. My daughter and I came here for dinner one evening about a month ago and I'm just catching up on my reviews. We got in and got to see them pretty quick, chips and salsa are always on the table within two seconds with water and I ordered a beer and she got some tea and we looked at the menu. Didn't take long because both of us tend to order the same thing anywhere we go, but she's super picky and it's hard to find anything for her to eat at some places, but she was craving shrimp, so we came here for the shrimp fajitas. They were exactly what she wanted, the shrimp were pretty large cooked. Perfect, I got to eat the onions and peppers because she just wanted the shrimp and chips and salsa and queso dip and I got me three chicken enchiladas with shredded chicken rice and a plate, full of lettuce and guacamole and tomatoes... Just what I like. There must be nine Mexican restaurants in the immediate vicinity of a few miles and this was quite good for me and I'm sure we will be back. Highly recommend. read more

We stopped here for lunch while traveling, and highly recommend this restaurant. Best Mexican food I think I've ever had! Visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. The menu is extensive, and even though we ordered from the lunch menu, which is offered Monday through Saturday until 3 pm, the portions were generous and very well seasoned. We go here almost every week for a quick k Mexican meal. Usually really crowded so go early. The food is very good and reasonable. They have drink specials daily and staff are friendly. We love their tamales and quesadillas. Chile releno I would pass it's pieces of pepper not really stuffed. The filling a bit mushy. Everything else is very good. Food was subpar. Service was slow. The server did not speak much English. My father got a taco salad with beef. I got a combination dinner of a taco, 2 chicken enchiladas and rice. Ordered a side of refried beans. It was equivalent of a Speedy Gonzales lunch. Taco with beef and white cheese. The taco shell did not hold the stuff and it fell through. No flavor. Very subpar food. Ordered tea and it was awful. Very strong. Sent it back. Glad I went. I know not to return. It is worse than La Hacienda. Which is another sub par restaurant. The Braselton area has a plethora of sub par restaurants. Mostly 2 stars. And a few closures. Pat's Eatery closed because of awful food and service. And Tom Henry's BBQ as well. I've been a long-time patron of El Centinela in Flowery Branch. I recently moved and I'm now located closer to the Braselton location. I ordered my usual lunch item: "ACTexas" - which, if you're unfamiliar, is a three-protein combo version of Arroz con Pollo. It's one of the best items on the lunch menu, IMO. One thing for me, though: Shellfish allergy. The standard menu item is chicken, beef and shrimp. ElC FB manager was very nice to me, apparently. They have always been happy to sub in pork for the shrimp because of my allergy and have never once upcharged me for the substitution. Today, I placed the order and made the sub request, explaining the allergy. The very hostile waiter sneeringly said there would be an upcharge. I attempted to explain that I'd ordered it many times before with no additional charge, but his only solution was to just leave out the shrimp. Aside: Do you think they would EVER give a discount for skipping an ingredient? Hell no. But oh yes of course using a different very common ingredient costs money. I said I wanted chicken, beef and pork - so go ahead with the upcharge I guess. The menu item is 10 dollars. Price on the bill: 15 dollars. Fifty percent upcharge for an ingredient less expensive than the substitution. Pork: one of the most common ready to roll ingredients in the restaurant. Shrimp: costly and usually has to be prepared to order. You know damn well that's not five dollars worth of trouble. You earned your 2% tip, sir. read more

This restaurant is located in a shopping center along with a Tea Garden and BBQ restaurant. If there's one this I'll remember about my stay in Braselton, it's the kids of the town. Man, there were a lot of them! Maybe it was more noticeable here at the restaurant as a result of their intoxicated parents. They were all bouncing off the walls here. We sat at a corner booth and the kids passed by unattended tens of times. I mean, it may not have been the restaurant's fault, but it was annoying. At one point we went into the bar area and witnessed the parental units partying hard along side of their kids. I literally didn't see a sober parent in the group. It was concerning. Ok, now that I've groaned about all that, I'll get to the food. I ordered the Molcajete dish. A Molcajete is made of volcanic stone, which makes the entire dish really pack the heat. The picture on the menu didn't depict what mine looked like. Mine was covered in green salsa, which luckily I liked. Other than the salsa, the dish was pretty bland. It's pretty much a fancy version of fajitas. The waitstaff were all incredible, happy and friendly. We only had to wait until after our meal to get a shot of Patron because they didn't have a bottle behind the bar and they "were too busy to go get a bottle". Don't judge, we weren't driving AND we don't have kids. read more

Terrific food. Service is always slow unless you speak Spanish. If you speak Spanish you get MUCH better service. I'm not even kidding. My husband speaks Spanish but doesn't look Spanish, probably because he isn't. When he doesn't talk to the waiter in Spanish, our service sucks. When he does, they look all surprised, smile alot, hustle around to get our stuff. To-go orders? Totally don't do it. You order, they give you a time. You show up at that time. You wait and wait. It's my first time here and of course my ask me if I will order the usual favorite Carne Asada and said yes I will just curiosity on how they will cook it, also the service is really good, our server is up to his toe and see what we need and keeping up with our drinks and starters. We have to this place multiple times and each time it has been amazing. The service is prompt and courteous. We had fajitas that we really tasty. There was so much we had to take some home. I had El Texano with chicken and shrimp. In many places the shrimp are over cooked but NOT here. Everything was tender and very flavorful. Chips and salsa were very good. I like how they also have the three different hot sauce bottles on the table. That seems to be getting less common. Everybody liked what they had but me. I have ordered steaks before in Mexican restaurants and know that it isn't a good idea so I don't know why I did it again. I ordered the 10oz T- bone covered with Mexican sauce. I asked for it to be medium rare but the thing was so overcooked. Please remind me to never, ever, order another steak at a Mexican restaurant. I'll still leave the good review though because the others in the party were very satisfied with their meals and I should have known better than to other a steak. Service was excellent. read more
