Seafood boil is everything you'd expect it to be after everything I heard about the Indio location. Good food and easy to follow menu with nice choices. However, service is extremely lousy. Servers walk past you and don't offer or ask anything. Expect to wait 10-15 minutes after you finish for them to acknowledge you and finally get your bill taken care of. If this is how it is in the Summer with no more than 20 people dining, I wonder how they'll do when season arrives and there's 60-80 people dining at once. Service is all about enthusiasm and making people feel invited to come back over and over again. Hope this gets fixed as I'd like to try this place and give it another shot. read more

Yes, never go wrong with seafood boil. The service is great have been to the Indio location plenty of times and always have great service not once has it been bad. Ambiance is casual, clean and friendly environment. Mix bag is a great price $25 and can feed at least 3. Also LOVE THE MICHELADAS house mix is the best! read more

I was honestly pretty disappointed. The service was just okay. They forgot a few items we ordered, and our server never really checked on us, so we had to keep walking to the front to ask for things ourselves. The biggest letdown was the food. The sauce lacked flavor and wasn't spicy at all, even though I ordered the extra spicy version. The shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, and the crab was extremely skimpy almost every shell we cracked had very little meat inside. For the price, I expected much better quality. Overall, it felt overpriced and overrated. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back. Also homeless people surround the area so gives a bad ambiance and the floor could be mopped. read more

Went there to get the Monday through Thursday special of 2 pounds of shrimp two pieces of corn and four potatoes. I was not expecting much but when I got home, they were huge pieces of shrimp that were cooked just right. I'm a vegetarian, so I ate corn, Ramen, and potatoes in medium seasoning of the House blend, and though it was a touch too spicy, I enjoyed it nonetheless. We ordered a mix bag and added a pound of crawfish, mussels, and snow crab legs and it was so good. We ordered it medium heat, Kimkey style and it was delicious. Definitely the best in the desert. Along with their selection of mariscos? We also ordered Cajun fries and some agua Chiles verdes. Their food was so good. The shrimp in the agua chile did taste a bit frozen but other than that, everything was very good. The servers were also very nice and welcoming. Will be coming back soon. Food was ok. What caught me off guard was the fact that I was ask for an id to even sit outside?? Why offer outside seating in the first place? Whole interaction was very shady waiter had no class And even questioned why we wanted to sit outside. Don't know if it was the fact that I'm younger ? But the area itself wasn't the nicest as there's druggies and homeless walking by as your eating. That's an issue that should be addressed instead of targeting customers by the way they look! So a friend and I came to Kimchi and ordered the mango margarita. It was honestly disgusting. It tasted rotten and had zero alcohol flavor whatsoever. When we asked about it, the waiter told us they now only use half a shot instead of a full shot, yet charge the same price. We told them we didn't want the drinks and were then told we still had to pay for them or they would call the police. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. The operator/owners of Kimkey Seafood Boil started as an at-home operation, before opening a brick-and-mortar large storefront in Indio, CA in 2024. We've been to a lot of Vietnamese/Cajun style seafood boil centric restaurants, and Kimkey has to be near the top. Our party of three was staying overnight in Indio, and this restaurant popped up on Yelp as a place to try. We didn't have reservations on a Friday night, but we were seated within 5 minutes. I had perused the menu on-line, and knew what we were going to share. We started with a Mix Bag ($24.99) which comes with 1 lb of head-on or head-off shrimp, 3 half ears of corn, and 4 red potatoes. To it, was added 1/2 pound of sausage ($6) and 1/2 pound of New Zealand green mussels ($9). As a side, we got a basket of fries ($4), a cup of steamed rice ($3.5), and 2 pieces of Texas Toast ($2 for 2). The items came out as soon as prepared, and small ramekin of salt and pepper along with fresh limes were provided (just like a Vietnamese style seafood boil) The tables were covered in butcher paper, and bibs with disposable gloves were provided if asked. You will be eating with your hands, so gloves are recommended. In fact, there were no utensils or plates except for a plastic spoon that came with the rice. It's a very messy way to eat, but it DOES make the food taste better...sharing the food together while eating with your hands (almost Kamayan-style). The Kimkey style sauce is the way to go (similar to other places sauce where they mix a garlic butter sauce with spicy cajun sauce), with the large amount of crushed garlic being great with the rice. It can be customized in terms of hotness; we went with medium and it was correct...hot would have been too much for us. The shrimp was really great quality, jumbo size and the NZ mussels were on the half shelf (6 shells for 1/2 pound). The sausage was just OK, but still a bargain. The corn was from frozen, but tasted great with the sauce. And I loved how they prepared the potatoes, it was served whole and was medium size...usually this means that the potato is undercooked, but not here....it was great fun smashing the whole potato against the table and even the middle was cooked. And it tasted great mixed with the Kimkey sauce. The fries were battered, and hot from the frier so delicious. My wife and mother-in-law loved their piece of texas toast (thick but on the smaller side). We knew we had to finish all of it...and we did...barely. It is LOUD inside, with customers enjoying themselves and the servers adding to the fun by announcing birthdays to tables across the dining room. Service was excellent...there were at least 6 different servers stopping by to ask if we were doing OK, and they truly meant it...refilling our water. It's clear that the owner/operators have thought about what they would do to make the customer experience so great, and they have implemented it...starting with making sure every server was so customer-centric. The prices here are quite a bit lower than what I am used to, especially on the market price high end seafood. E.g. pound of King crab was $64.99, and Snow crab being $29.99, $14.99 for 6 oz lobster tail. It will fluctate, of course...but the prices are a good 1/3 to 1/2 less than what it would cost in LA K-Town. So with service this great, food this value-priced and tasting so good, it's no wonder this place has such a good rep and large crowds. Definitely highly recommended....just wish I had asked a server what the 'Kimkey' means. read more

Long wait times for large party of 7. We were excited to try Kinkey seafood boil but ended up leaving after OVER AN HOUR WAIT. We were told it would be about a 35 minute wait. Half of our party had to stand due to limited seating while waiting to be seated. We were never checked up on or updated. When I asked how much longer we would be waiting, they said maybe 15 more minutes but not sure as they were waiting on a larger table. read more

We were tired and didn't feel like dealing with the crowd and making reservations for places in Downtown PS either. We found Kimkey on Yelp and decided why not? Something new, and we all like the steamed seafood. So we went. On the way from the parking lot we saw a couple leaving the place, so we asked them, "do you recommend the food?" They said "Oh yeah! They are so good!" We got great vibes inside! People are happy and welcoming. We got seated right away, and got immediate service. Servers are super nice and helpful. I went a couple days ago to the new location with two other people and we got the family tray. After we finished which we couldn't because one of us immediately had to throw up. And two of us had stomach problems sending us to the bathroom instantly.... And this lasted for about five days each.... I've had Kimkey seafood boil before she opened up her restaurant so I knew the flavor would definitely be there. The food was amazing finger licking good no complaints there and with reasonable prices as well. The playlist they had was great it was a variety of music but all bangers so I really enjoyed that. It wasn't too packed when we went compared to other times we have driven by and people are outside waiting in line, so that was also a big plus. My only reason as to why I did not give it 5 stars was because our server seemed to be occupied with other tables and did not come over once to ask how everything was and if we needed anything. My husband had to get up and ask if we paid in the front or if we got the check at the table from how long we waited after we were done eating. This was our first time eating at her restaurant so we were confused about the paying situation and we left confused because we had to get up to get to helped. They serve imported & domestic bottle beer (my preference) $5.55 for Heineken. They also serve refreshing sodas, & agua frescas. Service is friendly and they answer all your questions with patience & enthusiasm. It's family friendly too! It gets busy faster during evening hours. When I called to address the issue, I felt dismissed and gaslit by multiple employees. The manager, Melanie, eventually spoke with the owner, who said they could only offer $5 in credit because the card was already charged. The explanation given was that shrimp are weighed before cooking, which was never communicated when ordering. Customers shouldn't have to worry about being shorted shrimp due to "water weight". This experience left me feeling frustrated and misled. Be aware: when you order a boil here, you will not actually get a full pound in any of their servings. read more
