There were two tables full when I walked in, and some "clown" told me that I actually needed a reservation. I mean to be insulting by calling the man a clown. When he told me I needed a reservation, I pointed to all the empty tables and he actually said "yeah, but you need a reservation." He needs customers. The place has around 150 people capacity and there were less than eight here. It was basically empty, but the music was cranked up really loud. Went to this restaurant on September 18, 2021 for Dinner. The restaurant is located in a plaza off the main strip in Palmdale a short distance drive off the 14fwy. As we walked in, the place looked clean and nicely decorated to mimic "the traditional pupuserias" from El Salvador. Although the restaurant was busy, we were quickly offered a table close to the bar. Our waiter (an older gentlemen) was quick to offer us drinks and provided us with menus. We decided on the corn pupusas revueltas con chicharrón, empanadas de leche and atol de elote. While we waited for our food we noticed that the waiter was being a little tooooo friendly. Each time he would approach our table his jokes were out of our comfort zone specially because we are not regulars and don't know him. He behaved this way with other patrons at other tables too. Apparently that night he was not just waiting on tables but bar tending too. We watched him mix alcoholic drinks at the bar for other customers and some for himself too! He was drinking glass full of beer for himself each time he walked behind the bar. This explains his inappropriate behavior at our table and others too. He must believe in " una para ti and dos para mi" When the food arrived we were very disappointed!! The pupusas lacked flavor, the empanadas were burned and tasteless, the atol de elote tasted like it had been frozen and then reheated and served :( Then to our surprise out of nowhere they started playing very loud music which was the cherry on top. Unable to hold a conversation due to the noise level we got up, paid for our nasty food and walk out. We will not return to this place! read more

This place is one of those that I'm not sure if I should give a good or bad rating so I'm going with half of that. (2.5) The food gets a 5/10- We were a party of 10 and everyone ordered different things, most of us said the food wasn't as good. There were however some good things like the Papa Rellena and Sea food soup, however the pupusas where not good at all. They were more masa (dough) than cheese and needed salt. It's Salvadorian restaurant, if any food is going to be good, pupusas should be it. Service gets a 6/10- The waitress was nice the entire night and served us pretty well. However, we had to ask for napkins, forks/knifes/spoon, water, extra curtido, etc ourselves and it shouldn't be that way. Atmosphere gets a 9/10- This is were the tricky rating comes from... if you're coming for the atmosphere and to drink and dance, then most deff come here. They had karaoke and a DJ on sunday night and there are lights and a dancing space, however if you're eating with people you won't be able to hear them. The staff are friendly and the food has good flavor. However the wait time is ridiculous. We waited 55 minutes to get our food. We also placed an order of yuca con chicharron to go. Well an hour and half later, they didn't have the yucca con chicaron to go ready. When asked the wait time for the to go order, I was told, " i don't know." We have a lot of people. Only 4 tables during the time, I guess they don't know how to handle more than 2 tables at a time. Don't waste your time food is not worth it. Tries out this little gem and it didn't disappoint. Ordered 8 pupusas total (2 frijol y chicharron, 2 queso y chicharron, 2 queso, 1 revuelta, y 1 frijol con queso) along with an order of empanadas de leche. We enjoyed ALL of it! The cabbage from el curtido was finely chopped with personally I loved and it had the right amount of heat. The tomato sauce helped out with the heat and I love drowning the pupusas in the sauce. Price was not too bad given inflation, so can't really complain about that. I'm still going to pay. I did notice a stage for live band action. I am planning to dine in next time. It's a shame this restaurant has such a low star ratting and places like Applebee's has more stars and business... It's designed inside is very nice! It has a very cute bar and stage and club on one side and more traditional restaurant seating on another. The food is delicious especially the ATOL DE LOTE! Keep this place alive and thriving! From the initial walk in, their hostess appeared in a mad mood, once seated, the waitress took long to take our order and then longer to give our food. Second time coming to this place at first hesitant because it was dark looking from the outside. Ordered the pupusas, empanadas and rellenos de papa they were very good, But salty so do not add salt to your food prior to tasting. The beans and salsa with the chips are just a bit salty as well ,but I love salt so it wasn't an issue. The place has been completely empty both times coming and yet service does seem to be slow. Ordered take out last night and was really disappointed with the pupusas they're so much smaller which is fine I understand but the quality wasn't there any more the condiments of the pupusas were only on one side, if you cut on the other side it was literally empty, taste is not the same. First time trying this place, so I thought, it was around the way, so why not? Upon arrival, I was greeted and, given a menu. I had an order of Caldo de Res, which is Beef Soup, and a Horchata. The horchata tasted a bit off. I guess El Salvadoran Horchata is just different? Not sure....but I tasted a little clove, and what my palette picked up, as an herbal note. It doesn't go well in Horchata, to my taste. So I'll pass on that, and now, the Beef Soup! It was good, but not salted enough. It had barely any ingredients. They skimped on everything from the meat, and vegetables even! Can you imagine? I know right? I was expecting a bowl of warm goodness to heat my core, since it was cold outside, but I ended up receiving quite the opposite. If you don't really care for the quality in ingredients, then you might like this place, but I didn't! Another thing I noticed, was that every dish on the menu is literally priced at $15.00! Even appetizers! Meh! Overall, I wasn't impressed by this place. At least they had fresh jalapeños upon request! read more

Last weekend I came with my family on a Sunday to have dinner and let me tell you this place is amazingly great. I was a bit skeptical at first to come check it out due to the bad reviews but honestly there are wrong. I did tell my fam to give it a try with low expectations in mind but let me tell you this place surprised me with delicious food and awesome atmosphere. Waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. Btw it was a Sunday so we had the opportunity to enjoy karaoke and music. I was told on Saturday they have dj and live music which I'm most definitely looking forward to come back again. The worst service ever! I rate it a zero! It was a hot day when we came into Carbonero's & my friend & I were very thirsty & hungry. Nobody acknowledged us & waitress just passed us and didn't offer us anything to drink nor bring us a menu. I had to literally stand up from my chair after 40 minutes and go to the cashier and ask him to please have someone come to our table to service us. He shouted into the enclosed kitchen for someone and told me that someone would be there. He was sitting & didn't stand up, nor looked at me and worse didn't apologize after I told him that we'd been waiting long. After about 10 minutes the waitress appeared and I asked her to please bring us water because my mouth was dry & I was very thirsty, then ordered a salad and drink. She took at least 15 minutes to just bring my water! I was getting upset, but trying to be patient. I don't like to eat when I'm upset, but I guess my hunger & thirst we're greater. I will not come to this restaurant ever again! We ordered pupusas and ensalada drinks in which were tasty. The waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was dull, very dark with no music playing at all or the tv's on, it was awkwardly quiet. If you drop a pin you would probably hear it drop. Or you could hear your own respirations lol :) I'm not exaggerating. I usually like restaurant that are more aware of their customer service experience and this place is definitely not.
