Seated immediately, provided chips and salsa but no water or drinks. Waited for 5 mins and then ordered waters (should have brought them out with the chips automatically). We orders mixed giant fajita (chicken, steak, and shrimp) and the la parrillada for the three of us and the Chispas margaritas. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and clean. While waiting for food The lights were dimmed to make the ambiance more romantic. Food was pretty fantastic.

GF and I don't visit Boerne too often. Not exactly sure why but we just go elsewhere. Charming downtown with fun (also expensive) shopping and people watching. While the available restaurants are good it's lacking a good Tex-Mex option. I also do have to point out that too many restaurants are closing in Boerne. I follow My San Antonio and local closings are staggering. Now, some good news on a recent trip. We were looking at trucks at the local "motor mile" and stumbled onto El Chaparral. Restaurants aren't always on Main Street folks. We found El Chaparral by taking backroads to visit car dealerships. Praise for their tenure in the town we sat down for lunch on the first visit. Chips and salsa starts your experience. Then, bean soup! The most flavorful borracho/charro beans in all of Texas. Did Lupe Tortilla steal this? The server explained we had the option to sub them on an entree instead of refried or similar less seasoned "charro beans". WHY???? Those beans are perfect! As I said two visits. First entree was my requisite shrimp enchiladas. Can't remember when I've had the dish paired with a sour cream sauce. Shrimp were well seasoned with grilled onion. Sauce was too heavy on the sour cream and zero seasoning. Next visit I went with a taco salad. This is my second go to and again found issues with the dish. Shredded chicken was tasty; artful presentation with the toppings. But, tortilla bowl is not hot. Cold in fact. No crispy love there which makes the dish an indulgence for me. I'll be back for the beans.

Finally had time to stop by the new location in Boerne. The restaurant is very spacious with traditional Mexican decor and plenty of parking. Was greeted immediately with no wait time. The complimentary chips and salsa was flavorful and spicy. The shrimp poblano was absolutely wonderful hitting savory, spicy, and fresh flavors. Paired with charro beans, avacado, lettuce, tomato, and the coastal rice was interesting yet tasty. The shoestring fries with the steak was unexpected but strongly complimented the dish. The steak was cooked perfectly and so moist. Definitely, coming back to try more of their La Casa dishes.

Good margaritas, friendly service and delicious Mexican dinners. Seating options include al fresco on the patio, a lively bar area or indoor tables. Puffy tacos, a San Antonio tradition, are done nicely here - perfectly puffy taco shells, loaded with hearty picadillo filling, arrived hot and upright on a stainless steel taco stand that kept everything from spilling out. I'm usually a fan of breaded and fried cheese chile rellenos, but the grilled Cristina's version stuffed with jalapeño chicken filling was a nice change-up. This location is a little easier to get into on a Friday night than the original location in Helotes.

First time visiting this location & it's LOVELY!! Plenty of parking in their private lot (overflow for on a side gravel piece too-good for big trucks!) tried the tortilla soup and a chalupa on the side. The rest of the party had different plates. Everyone ordered margaritas and it was a good time!!! Consistent & yummy food, good service. The place is really large with outdoor and indoor seating as well as seating around a large bar. Very nice and would def come back again!

I did not care for the food or the service. There are so many other better Mexican restaurants in the city.

The menu is on par for Boerne, overpriced serving mediocre food. A pint of refried beans $7.50, served very runny, these are the bag of pre- cooked beans from a supplier, they evidently used an improper amount of water for reheating. The tortillas are $10.20 per dozen, which is hard to justify considering most places charge less than half that price for fresh tortillas. We also ordered their Mexican plate $15.99, the taco was served sitting in gravy-soggy shell, cheese enchiladas were okay at best, and again the beans were runny-watery. The chips obviously come from a bag, and many were broken into small pieces. The salsa was actually good, but served in squeeze bottles instead of bowls. This visit confirmed for us that it's worth passing up, despite the convenient location, I'd rather drive an additional 30-minutes farther to San Antonio where you actually get quality food made from scratch in-house at less than half the price with welcoming staff. Unfortunately, Boerne seriously lacks quality restaurant options, and this is just another example.

Mind you, we were not messing around and cutting into their weekend but the food was great. While. I enjoyed my food, I am getting tacos next time. The beef and pork meat were tender and great. We chose to sit inside trying to make it easier to get lunch and get out and we were not disappointed with quick service from the waiters(runners) and the sweet lady of the house. El Jefe was manning the kitchen and laser focused so we did not get to interact, however I may just have to venture to Boerne more....

I was in Boerne this past weekend and decided to go eat there since they close very early. I read that their fideos is the bomb! Which they didn't have! Bummer! The guy behind the counter confused me if he is nice or super short or just no expressions which so ever. He said they have barbacoa and I can order them as tacos. I was by myself sure ok! Then he came back to say that they only sell them per pound. Kindly I asked if I can do half a pound... the only answer I got is: is there anything else I can get for you? He ring the pound up and sent me on my happy way. I wanted to try regardless but hello? A sorry or something similar would have been nice. The barbacoa is absolutely delicious! Finger licking delicious! But for one pound all I got is a tiny bit of cilantro with it and a hot salsa and 6 tortillas. Fine... I asked one of the girls if I can get extra cilantro I couldn't really understand her if they charge extra for it. Regardless she went and got it for me. I kind of felt uncomfortable... I saw in the fridge they have green salsa I wanted to try that too. They got it for me with a warning that it is more spicy than the red one I have... no lime... no fixings... maybe I am used to the shops on the south side of San Antonio. I felt confused but still I really enjoyed this barbacoa. Next time I am going to be firm at the counter of what I want with it... if they charge me for it... fine! This is how good it is The 3 stars is for that weird feeling I got not the actual food. I hope it will be a better experience next time because for sure I am coming back!
