We went to the new Boerne El Chaparral Tuesday 5/30/23 at 4:15 and was seated immediately by a friendly hostess. My wife had arrived about 5 minutes before me and had been seated immediately also. None of that silly "all parties must be here before we can seat you" policy. My wife had already received her drink of choice (water) and there were chips and an excellent sausa on the table. I asked for a hotter sausa and an order of Guacamole and it was quickly brought out along with the complimentary tasty bean soup. We ordered our usual favorites from the Helotes location, chicken enchiladas and the Carlos Special. Our delicious food was delivered within 10 minutes. Both plates were excellent. Carlos, the owner, came over and asked how everything was and we told him it was very good and better, by far, than any other Boerne Mexican restaurant. We told him how his Helotes location had been a favorite and how happy we were that they were now in Boerne. He explained that it had been a real struggle that lasted 4 1/2 years since they bought the property. After we had finished our main courses we ordered a wonderful order of soapapilas. Then one of Carlos's sons came by and asked how everything was. We ordered a piece of coffee cake to go and had it the next morning. It was large and so good. A 3 man walking group of musicians added to the ambiance. We then went out back to checkout the patio and the beautiful grounds. There we ran into Carlos's other son who explained how they were going to build a children's playground. There is already a game room that is enclosed on the back patio. We told him how much we had enjoyed the Helotes location for years and were so excited they were finally open in Boerne. He said their family was equally as excited to be here. The pricing appeared to be about 10% higher than the last time we visited the Helotes location. It may not be higher than the Helotes location now. I have noticed all restaurants have raised their pricing in the last 3 months and I certainly understand. I don't begrudge them as I am sure their suppliers have raised their prices. As we left at 5:30 we noticed there were a lot of folks waiting now for a table so go early if you wish to not wait. read more

I ordered the "Enchilada Garcia", beef, I received chicken but that's ok, I like chicken. the " Enchilada " was a cold flour tortilla, room temperature no flavor chicken covered in cheap movie theatre liquid cheese. Quite possibly the worst margarita I've ever had. Ordered top shelf and some sort of bright green goblet came out. It looks like the commercial for that gross Applebees drink you see for the $1 margarita. We were with a big table and took forever to get it to begin with so drank it anyway. Tasted terrible. Wouldn't even be wasting my time writing this except it caused a MASSIVE allergic reaction. Not sure what garbage ingredients they put in this (considering all you need is tequila, lime, and agave) but if you want terrible taste, quality, and a possible life threatening reaction this is your place read more

Honestly this place was so so great when they first opened. There was so much hype built up and it was spot on! But it's drastically gone down hill. The last time I was there, which will be my last, the bartender was endlessly complaining about how much her feet hurt and how tired she was. Not exactly the energy you're looking for to pair with your evening margarita. It seems like there are many high school age workers, which would be completely fine if they weren't chatting it up in various corners of the restaurant while patrons are waiting to be waited on. My guess is the owners brought over more experienced staff from their other location to kick off the opening and then sent them back. I hope they can turn it around. read more

Long wait bodes well for the restaurant, as does the location and aesthetics, however dirty utensils that I brought to the attention to the server and never were removed, along with poor service did not make up for that. Not a one and done person, but hopefully will be better the next time around. Really like the Helotes location and will try again in Boerne. read more

Ambiance is great! Food is pretty good. The bar service is horrible. The bar staff avoid eye contact ostensibly to avoid having to take an order. Strange stuff, try it out--not kidding. I literally had to raise my voice to get their attention. On two separate visits. But once you're seated, the wait staff is much better. read more

Dinner tonight was so disappointing. We have had enjoyed El Chaparral in Helotes, owned by same family, and so we were excited to have them in Boerne. Unfortunately the food was a real disappointment. Salsa was warm tomato sauce with very little flavor.We ordered the fajitas. They were both small, sad and seriously lacking any flavor. The beef Fajitas were literally burnt to a crisp and had only a few onions and no other veg and the chicken Fajitas were dry and filled with steamed onions and peppers. Everything lacked flavor. The high was that, although we waited 40 min to be seated, the service from order to food delivery was good. Waitress was great and the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the general environment is great. Will we try again? I'm not sure. We will Likley give them a few months to get their feet under them and give them another try. read more

Chips and salsa were average.... Chips were thick and not real crispy, salsa needed help.... Beans were salty and burn't. Rice was okay. Taco tasted like it was made from pre made shells and hamburger helper. Enchilada tasted like an under cooked oily tortilla wrapped around some un spiced velvitta ... The tostada tasted like the taco with some of the bad beans added in.... I love good Mexican food, can honestly say this is the worst I've ever had. One a good note, the restaurant itself is very nice. Our waitress was great and the service was outstanding. I hope the food gets a makeover, as Id like to see the efforts rewarded. read more

The worst "TO GO" experience I have ever had! When we ordered, they told us is would be ready in 15 minutes, which was when I arrived. They told me that my food was being bagged up and that it would only be a few minutes. I waited for 35 minutes. The lady in front of me also waited for 35 minutes. They really need to work on their "TO GO" service. read more

Food was ok ... not much of a flavor profile.. fajitas had no real seasoning or spice.. the hot sauce was almost bitter. homemade tortillas were good. Finally tried the location in Boerne after all the hype of El Chaparral. Needless to say, it was disappointing. The food is pre-made and the quality shows as well. Out servers name was Danielle B. she was quick, courteous and very professional she had great suggestions for the menu and was great at keeping our drinks filled. I ordered the Carne Guisada puffy tacos it was amazing the food came out in about 15 minutes hot and exactly what I ordered. Look forward to our next trip to El Chapparo!!!! read more

Not sure why some others had a bad experience. The staff was very friendly, the food was spectacular, and the atmosphere was outstanding! My dinner was ! Beware the shrimp enchiladas with cream sauce is tasteless! The cream sauce is watered down sour cream. They put way too much on the plate! The shrimp in the enchiladas were very tiny...you really could not taste them. My husband had the Mexican plate which he said was good. Service was very good and the ambiance was really nice. The room was very loud and there was a screaming baby next to us. We will return later this year and hope for a better experience. read more

Service was good, but the food was bland for a Mexican restaurant. As another reviewer mentioned the queso was very watery and it had very little cheese flavor. I had a chicken quesadilla and my husband had fajitas both were ok but oddly didn't have much flavor. Probably won't go there again read more

Did go back to the Boerne Chaparral 3 times in the month of Oct and Nov. It was GREAT! Had great service and food was fantastic. So glad I went back. Took my adult daughter with me and she really liked it too. Always give a business another chance. I cant wait to go back. First time at this El Chaparral. Margaritas and bar service were exceptional. Table of 9. Busy night with not so busy or attentive servers. Waited 10+ minutes for complimentary chips and salsa. Chips were rather stale. Not to mention we had to bug our server about bringing it out. Come to find out, no Mexican rice or refried beans. We got up & left after waiting over an hour to be seated in the first place. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Not even a chihuahua. read more
