I am excited to welcome Taqueria Diamanté to Uptown! The owner and waiter were both very friendly and the tacos were so good. The Horchata too. This will be my new go to taco spot !!! Edit: they are BYOB at this new location

Chimichanga with Meat

We were seated promptly and didn't have to wait long for our food. The burrito bowl and chimichanga are both good, especially the steak on them. This is a gem for a quick and delicious Mexican fix.

First time visiting and I LOVED IT...loved everything about it! Super friendly owners/staff, very clean inside and appreciated everyone had masks on (even people cooking), large menu, reasonable prices and DELICIOUS food! Will be back soon!! The service was outstanding...our waiter couldn't have been any nicer on the night of Sunday 12/12! We started with the chimichangas (tasty) and diablo salsa (super good and super spicy). Main event was Barbacoa sope (outstanding) and asada suizo burrito (REALLY good...thinking about it still the next day). Can't think of one thing we were on the fence about! This place is a gem all around!!

Absolutely ignore any bad review about this place. This is the BEST Mexican in Chicago! Family owned, authentic and homemade Mexican food. If it's not on the menu, they will make it! Direct quote from the owner: "This isn't Burger King but you can always have it your way." They also have a very hot homemade salsa called DIABLO. Must try! And if you don't get the tres leches cake, never speak to me again. It's the best! Just went with my friend today for National Tequila Day. The pitcher of margaritas was incredible and strong! The owner came over and said "let me know if it's not strong enough, I got you." Let's just say it was delicious :)".

The food is decent, but on the basic side. We were hungry so we cleaned our plates. Salsas were not to my liking.

This is allegedly Queso dip

Disgusting and over priced . The queso dip was dried bowl of cheese with over cooked chorizo on top instead of the meal cheese dip with meat inside of it. They served it with tortillas instead of chips The complimentary bowl of chips of table when arrive was less than half full. I asked for more and was surprised they charged me for it. Wish they had said something first and gave us a choice. Worst Mexican ever in city of chicago and I eat authentic toc Mexican on Pilsen often like the legendary Nuevo León. They charge us for the to go containers. I gave the food to my college student to give her boy friend because she thought he could tolerate the carne asada which I did not eat. Awoke in middle of night with WORST stomach pain so I just called her told her to throw food out. I spend $83 for this horrible food. I am 50. Done with experimenting with new restaurants in this desperate post Covid environment where cost is up and quality is down as some restaurants try to re-coup revenue lost during the pandemic. My intention was To go to Mas Alla de Sol on broadway but they were closed. I googled tor near by places and this place had 4.5 stars. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW. Must be their friends and family so I felt it was my responsibility to submit an objective one for other people who like myself was bamboozled by the false reviews. I would give zero stars if I could

Chorizo and lengua tacos
Mackenzie G.

Delightfully surprised by how much I liked Diamante Azul. I came on a Thursday night with five other girls and there was only one other seated table at the time. We all ordered drinks pretty quickly (they are no longer BYOB!) and they arrived to our table within ten minutes. The margaritas were slightly watery but understandably because they just started serving alcohol and they're probably still perfecting the recipes. The micheladas on the other hand were very yummy and well done, and served with Modelo. Our food came out very quickly after ordering. I ordered the chorizo and lengua (tongue) tacos, and I absolutely loved them. The chorizo tasted different from other chorizo tacos I've had but none the less still very yummy. I have never tried tongue but I was feeling daring and was not disappointed. It slightly reminded me of pork belly in texture, but a very difficult taste to compare. The staff was lovely and very attentive. I felt this place had very strong and authentic Mexican food. A perfect spot to stop by next time you're in the area.

Best carne asada tacos I've had in Chicago! Try them with a smear of refried beans and guacamole. Food is always consistently great!

As much as it was packed from 2:30 til 3:30 we were still were able to order a drink at bar. Martin was so nice and took our order and brought it to us being we went back to waiting line. The place is small with a hard time to walk around when it's full. It's a nice bar restaurant and didn't realized until we were leaving that there's a back area. The bartenders could be a little more social and happy bc that seem a bit dull and unhappy working there. Unlike Martin he was happy. Mildred was our server and she did phenomenal. We stood at the door for about 20 minutes before someone finally told us the wait would be 1-2 hours. Keep in mind, the place is pretty small and already crowded, so there's barely any room to stand while you wait. After getting on the waitlist, we decided to go to a nearby spot for food--but not even 5 minutes later, we got called back saying our table was ready. When we returned, we were seated along the wall in a very tight space--so tight that if I stretched my arm out, I would've hit the person next to me. We noticed a large table nearby had been sitting for a while without food. When their food finally came out, it made us realize our wait would probably be even longer. After another 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't been able to order, we decided to leave. I'm not sure the space is fully ready for the rush right now--it feels overcrowded and service is slow. I'll give it another try once the hype dies down. I'm happy for their success, though--just be prepared to be patient when you go.

Cinco de Mayo at Barrio was EVERYTHINGGG…read more We fully committed to the holiday and ordered honestly the entire menu and somehow every single thing that came out was better than the last. Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

The atmosphere is easily for dates, friend outings, after work outings etc. The restaurant decor is nice. It puts you in the mind of a European garden. There is no parking but a garage across the street along with metered Street parking. Beware parking cost $46 for about 2.5 hrs. The food bill was $141, way too expensive for tacos and a few margaritas. I will pass on this place.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it! Try this little gem--you won't regret it.

Only real negatives were that they did not offer any draft beer options and the Chips y Salsa ($3.75) had a meager quantity of chips to eat their tasty and generous tomatillo and 3-chile salsa options. Would actually go 4.5 stars based on those 2 factors, but gave the benefit of the extra half star due to how good our service was and the excellent flavor of the veggie sandwich.
