This was my second time at El Chullo and my first time bringing friends to try Peruvian food. I'm a big chaufa lover, and theirs is excellent. The portion sizes are huge, which made pricing reasonable. We had the yuca frita as an app and it was crispy, filling, and really well done. We tried the pisco sour as well, and it didn't disappoint. Even though they seemed busy, the service was smooth and quick. I also love the art on the outside. It adds a lot of character to the place. My friends really enjoyed their meals, which made the experience even better. I wish I could bring this spot back with me to Indiana!

Peruvian food is amazing and the food we had here was absolutely delicious! Everyone was very friendly, greeting us and saying bye as we left. They brought us out each our own little bowl of roasted choclo to enjoy while waiting for our food. They took our order and got our food out quickly and we were checked on once or twice after that and then left alone to enjoy the meal. The lomo saltado was sooo good and so was the aji de gallina. The passion fruit cheesecake was served with a scoop of coconut ice cream on top and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had in my life. They also have several cocktails with classics as well as some on their own unique inventions. Their chicha morada recipe was great, very sweet and spiced. I also loved the space. Very open and colorful with cool Peruvian decorations!

They moved from, 7th Street to this Melrose location, so happy to seem them back, with a more spacious and accessible spot. All here is amazing, don't forget the alfajores, yum!!

The staff were friendly and had our table decorated for our birthday dinner. The food was great (although the sauce was a bit salty). I had the noodles with mushroom, and while I enjoyed it, the noodles didn't soak up the sauce like the rice saltados. The green sauce was a great spice topper and they brought us extra. I would've preferred the yucca fries to be cut thinner as they were a bit dense and not as crisp as I'd prefer. The Peruvian ice cream had such a unique flavor and the strawberry ice cream was fresh with chunks of strawberries. The patio was dog friendly and parking was very easy as they had their own lot.

Local restaurant that serves Peruvian food, we got the Empanadas filled with Mozzarella Cheese & Ham and Ground Beef, Pollo Saltado (Chicken strips sautéed with red onions, tomatoes, cilantro. Served with white rice & fries), daily special of the roasted chicken and fries, Alfajor (Cornstarch and flour cookies with Manjar Blanco in the middle, topped with powder sugar), & Passion fruit juice! The service was outstanding and the place is clean, cute, and inviting!

Delicious food! The service was very friendly and accommodating. The decor was very Peruvian authentic style that added to the charm. Will be back!

We couldn't wait to try this Peruvian restaurant for our craving for Lomo Saltado, didn't disappoint at all, close to perfection. The meat was sautéd deliciously tender enough yet the soy sauce was way more than desirable which made it saltier. We enjoyed the causaus as well, both pollo and shrimp, visually appealing too! The service is friendly and ambience caters to families, big groups and most importantly any type of celebratory occasions. Definitely, a revisit is already planned...

Consistently excellent and authentic food paired with friendly service. The owners remain actively involved in the business, which shows in the quality and care they put into every detail. The ambiance is warm and inviting, decorated with beautiful Peruvian art that enhances the dining experience. My only suggestion would be to provide a printed, itemized receipt so customers have time to review their bill rather than being shown only the total on an electronic device.

The BEST Lomo Saltado I've Ever Had! I'm a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Lomo Saltado -- it's my favorite dish, and I go out of my way to try it at every Peruvian restaurant I find. This place absolutely blew me away. At first glance, I thought it might be a little dry since there wasn't much sauce, but one bite in and I was hooked. The meat was perfectly cooked, so tender and full of rich, savory flavor, with just the right amount of juice soaking into the fries and rice. It was pure perfection -- easily the best Lomo Saltado I've ever tasted. The restaurant itself is adorable, cozy, and welcoming, and the staff couldn't be sweeter. You can tell they really care about the food and their guests. I'm honestly tempted to come back tomorrow just to have it again -- or maybe bring my grandchild and explore more of their amazing Peruvian dishes. Do yourself a favor and try this place -- you'll thank me later!

I can't wait to return to this restaurant to experience more authentic Peruvian delicacies. My favorite dishes are in this menu. I tried two things for the Jan 25' ISCUYE... Empanadas - 5s Somo Saltado - 4 s I can't wait to return to try the pollo a la brasa. The restaurant is in a very convenient location in midtown in the heart of the Melrose neighborhood. the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Service was 5s. My return factor:100%

We were introduced to this place by a local Americana-Peruvian friend. It's definitely a good place for Peruvian food -- which is delicious! We ordered Pisco Sou, Ceviche Clasico, Puloo A La Parrilla, Empanadas, Yucas Fritas, Anticuchos, and Delicia De Maracuya (dessert). We shared all dishes as a family style to taste all the tasty dishes -- definitely a good way to start out. We learned that this location, owned by the son, is related to the other Peruvian on 7th Ave (same name by the father). This location is newly opened and offered a more playful menu, not as traditional dishes. We have dined at the 7th Avenue location a few times. This is new location for us. We throughly enjoyed our experience here. The parking situation is a great improvement here. Cheers & happy dining.

We had a great time celebrating my Husband's birthday here. The food and atmosphere was the perfect choice. They even have a fun birthday dancing man come out with sparklers to sing happy birthday and bring a little birthday plate. It's fun! The service was great. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back!

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

The salad was crisp, well dressed and delicious with the fried / curled plantain chips. The shrimp cerviche with fried plantains, blue corn tortilla chips, lime, cilantro and cucumber pico de gallo was ok but not remarkable. Our final selection was the Gaucho spiced skirt steak with chimichurri, and masa potato cakes. The steak was overcooked, not medium rare, bland taste and tough. The potato cake was tasteless. Overall, the ambience and service was good, however, the food lacks any hint of Cuban flare except for the fried plantains. When I think of Cuban food, I salivate for the unique taste profiles with a hint of sweetness from the fruits. At The canal Club, I found it non-existing. Onto the food, oysters were great quality, fresh but still briny. Had a pineapple mignonette that complimented well. My gf doesn't like oysters but these were small enough for her to enjoy with the added sweetness. Calamari was also solid, had a great chipotle aioli and ginger scallion oyster sauce on the side. The salmon ceviche was a bit of a let down. More like a crudo if you ask me, but still great flavors. Cocktails were great too! The corn mezcal was super unique. Not the biggest mezcal person but it sounded too good to pass up and definitely glad I tried it. My gf got the pisco sour and it was perfectly tart but refreshing. We hoped me might finish with a dessert to pick up the mood after a lackluster meal. The salted carmel brownie we decided on wasn't great; tasteless and bland, it just wasn't worth it.
