Its tough. And maybe im just a brokie but we cant normalize these kind of prices. Its the type of place id love to make regular with friends and loved ones but to get chicken, salad, and some drinks youre looking at $30-$70 based on how many folks youre with. Now, the quality of the food is very good. The flavor and tenderness is great. Great char and im sure the chicken and ingredients are sourced well, so I understand why the pricing is high, but its just a shame that good ingredients are this costly. Read a lot of good things about Mister Pio online, so we made it a must-see during our trip to Phoenix in the winter! The location is unassuming, being housed in a strip mall off the highway. We easily found parking and luckily it wasn't too crowded when we arrived. The restaurant itself is small, although with ample seating for dine-in and space to wait for take-out. The decor is simple, with the main features being the menu handwritten on butcher paper and the large display of roasting chickens. Based on the articles we read, we opted to get the half-chicken, which comes with a side salad, as well as an order of fries. We took our meal to-go, and we waited a little bit for everything to come together, but not an unreasonable amount of time. Even with driving it back to our hotel to enjoy, the flavor, freshness, and crispiness wasn't super compromised - although my pictures are not the finest! The chicken was so moist and tender, even the white meat had a good bit of moisture. The Peruvian style of chicken was new for both of us, but we really enjoyed all the flavors and crispy skin on the chicken. The salad was simple but paired nicely with the bold flavors of the meat. Tried Mister Pio in Phoenix and overall had a good experience. The food tasted very fresh and had a nice farm-to-table feel. The chicken was nice and juicy and seasoned well. It's a small restaurant with the grill right in the front but I can definitely see it getting warm and smoky inside. The staff were friendly throughout our visit! I ordered the half chicken and large fries, but for those who are ordering a quarter chicken, I would recommend the dark meat because it was super tender and juicy! The white meat could not compare. It came with a side salad, and though it looks unassuming, this was the best side salad I've ever had (coming from someone who isn't a salad fan). The vinaigrette they used was super delicious... not sure what they put in that thing to make it so tasty. Cozy little chicken shop that specializes Peruvian rotisserie chicken. The place has a nice and simple decor, plenty of parking but lowered cars beware as the entrance is steep. As for the chicken, it's cooked to perfection still juicy with a rich flavorful seasoning. While you can't go wrong with either dark or white, choose for dark meat if you're looking for a little more flavor and go for white if you're aiming to be full/healthy. There's option of mild, medium, and hot sauce that comes with the chicken and they're not just varying degrees of spice. The one I ordered (yellow) was mild had more of a mustardy taste to it, not my preference. My friend ordered the hot or medium (green) which was much better to my liking and also not especially hot for those worried. The side salad is fine but you can upgrade it if you want, though I'd prefer to just get an order of fries if you're looking for more. You can also order a large order of fries if you're looking to share that with a group which for the extra $3 is well worth the amount of fries that comes with it. Really enjoyed my meal from Mister Pio! The place is small and probably does mostly lunch business. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the chicken roasting--clearly everything is super fresh. Dang. Dang dang. I say that for two reasons: first, because the food here is so good. And second, because I just paid $70 for 4 small pieces of chicken and some fries and salad. First, let's talk good. To me this is the best roasted chicken I e had in Arizona. It's fork tender and really flavorful. The mesquite wood gives the chicken that slightly Smokey special flavor and it blends well with the citrus-based marinade. It's perfectly cooked (it's fire roasted over flames so there will be some char on it) and a real joy to eat. A huge star in this meal Is the French fries. I can say I've never had fries quite like that before. The potato pieces are long chunks that resemble fingers. And they're fried in the most amazing way. I asked and one of the guys told me they use rice bran oil. Well whatever it is, it's HEAVENLY. You get these crispy-soft, almost sweet French fries that are so flavorful that it actually makes you pause. They're THAT good. Perfectly seasoned and hot and just amazing. I told my wife I'd come here just for the fries. A quick word about the salad that comes with the chicken. At first glance it's just lettuce, but there's more. It comes with these pickled beets that are a revelation in how tasty they are. It elevates a "salad" to more of an experience. It's crisp and cool and fresh and tasty and the beets give it a slightly sweet, interesting variation. Excellent. But last, we do have to discuss the price. I understand that this is not a commercial franchise. I understand that they are using top-notch ingredients. But a two piece chicken combo with a drink is almost $40, and the two pieces are quite small. I'm not saying they have to change the pricing but I'm saying that it is something to consider and there are people who simply cannot pay that for two pieces of chicken and salad. A side of fries will set you back $8.50. The point I'm trying to make here is this is not a cheap hole in the wall. It's a hole in the wall but with gourmet prices. One can argue whether those prices are justified, but I will say for now that they are. The quality of the food we ate was really top notch and while I don't know if it was worth $40 each for lunch, I will say it was the best roast chicken I've ever had. So do with that information what you will. One final note is that the place is tiny so if you come at popular times and on weekends, you're gonna wait and there are only a few tables inside. I think a lot of people get it to go for that reason. All in all excellent food and we will probably be back because of the quality of the food. And love those darn french fries. read more

The service here is great, especially with the fact that it's the same two men working. This provides consistency and comfort for people like me. I'm from the east coast where there are plenty of Peruvian spots that serve pollo a la brasa, but sadly Phoenix didn't have any until I saw Mister Pio on IG. The place is casual and cute inside, could definitely be a great lunch spot. There's not a huge menu but in reality they have perfected their items and I'd rather one solid meal than to be offered a bunch of mediocre menu items. I had the 1/4 chicken with dark meat and ordered fries. My boyfriend is trying the sandwich (review TBD on that because he hasn't dug in yet) BUT the chicken was absolutely delicious. Crispy skin and juicy chicken with a ton of flavor. The fries have to be the best fries I've ever had. They were still crispy and hot when I got home, perfectly seasoned as well. Green sauce was superb and I enjoyed the side salad as well. I love that they wrap their to go food in wrapper vs a container as it kept everything fresh without hindering any of the textures. That being said I do agree with some of the posts about the pricing. The picture I have of the chicken is minus the leg that I already ate because I couldn't wait but $15 for this amount of chicken with a small side salad is excessive. It was a lot of bone and I would typically get an entire half chicken with two sides for that price in some of the spots I've had the same style chicken on the east coast. However, I wouldn't give a one star review just based on pricing alone. To diminish the overall reputation of a restaurant on Yelp because it wasn't what you wanted to pay is ridiculous. The half chicken comes with a mix of white and dark meat and it was so juicy! The skin was my favorite part aka where all the flavor sat. Pro-tip: get the mild (green) sauce and dip everything in it! It could make anything taste good. My sister and I shared one half chicken and it was enough to make us full. The salad was good, but nothing extraordinary. I also appreciated the complimentary bottled water. Really nice service and a good meal when you want something a little more bougier than a Costco rotisserie chicken (which is hard to beat). The seasonings on the chicken are bursting with flavor and the chicken itself is extremely tender. The sauces that come with the chicken ranged from mild to hot. I've always had a philosophy when reviewing food and that is if the flavor is truly elevated, the expense doesn't matter. This restaurant is expensive and it is absolutely exceptional quality. I ordered a sandwich and a large fry. The sandwich was probably one of the most layered delicious sandwiches I've had. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. There was multiple sauces on it. The sandwich had a really amazing balance of sweet , savory and spicy . It had sliced hot peppers on it that really balanced the flavor. The bread was absolutely phenomenal. The only issue is, it was the size of a hockey puck . Really small for $16. It's a little bit expensive for these days. I understand that they source their chicken from a great Arizona farm. Which I really respect that. As for the fries, just perfect! They were crispy and soft on the inside. The salts that they use had a particular bite to it that was just memorizing. Frys are one of my favorite things to eat and theirs are perfect. Eight dollar side of fries is very large. The small did look like a really good portion for the price though. The fries are exceptional quality so I don't I don't think the price plays into a factor on these at all. I also took the time to order all the sauces that they offer. They have three sauces, and I don't remember the names of them, but it basically was a mild,medium and hot. All three were really interesting. None of them were particularly salty. I'd say more on the sweet side and then the spicy one was very spicy, but it had a good spice to it that wasn't Too hot. The dressing of the side salad is very good. It was like a almost like a Peruvian take on honey mustard dressing, I do recommend the dressing its very good. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
