We stopped here after visiting the fruit market next door, and wow--what an incredible lunch! The nonalcoholic piña colada was hands down the best we've ever had. We also ordered the mofongo and ceviche, and everything was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. This was honestly one of the best lunches we've had in Puerto Rico, and we'll definitely be coming back on our next visit. Late night stop and honestly? No regrets. We came in for drinks and left genuinely impressed. First, a warning: these pours are serious. We're talking roughly 3/4 of the cup filled with rum. If you're a light drinker, plan accordingly or share. The setup is a walk-up window, which sounds lowkey but the vibe was genuinely great. There's a small seating area on the plaza, or you can just find yourself a spot and make it work. Very casual, very fun. The mojito de coco was absolutely delicious. Like, I will be dreaming about this drink. The service was fast and friendly, the energy was lively, and they carry a solid variety of rums. Prices are also very reasonable for what you get. The rum and coke, though? We ended up having to buy a separate Coke and cup just to cut it down, and still couldn't finish the rum. YMMV on that one. Overall a really fun spot. If your first time at La Placita you can get overwhelmed with Restaurants and music playing. The outside seating allowed me to relax and decide what I wanted and then the smell from the kitchen hit me. I knew what I wanted and it was El coco de Luis. We ordered steak and onions with white rice and red beans and side salad. Beams were so good I drank them out of the cup. We really enjoyed our food. I also ordered a Coke Colsa and a Casa migo resposado spicy passion fruit margarita. The servers her are fabulous the have great suggestions and go above and beyond for service. This was the perfect surprise on a rainy night after a long day of traveling and walking through flooded sidewalks. I've only had 3 things from this place. The ceviche and octopus with tostones. Both are the best I've had on the island. The ceviche isn't chewy, the octopus isn't mushy and over cooked. The food and drinks were good but the service was very very horrible. We began by ordering 3 drinks ( 2 heinekens and a corona ) and were given an attitude stating they only had 2 hands. We ordered a couple more drinks some ceviche and a food platter- waited 15 min for the platter like they told us to and when we came back to pick it up they said oops we ran out. Then they substituted our meal with a much much smaller plate then the original order. When we questioned the size of it they supposedly gave us a convincing break down of the pricing and said thats what we paid for. About 2 min later we went to order a bit more since the serving size wouldnt be enough to share. At that point i was extremely upcharged . I of course was taken back and stated we just ordered the same thing why has the price now changed. I was told the first person who rang me up charged us wrong. Now heres where I knew they were pulling one over on me: I gave a $20 bill and recieved change of .50cents . When questioning the price change i was told the drink i had just purchased twice first for $9 was now $12.50 and the small cup order of ceviche first was $5 now was $7.50. Simple math shows $12.50 + $7.50 = $20 . If that was the correct charge Why Would I Recieve .50 cents Back!!. I told them that it was very wrong what they were doing to tourists or anyone else . I myself am puerto rican and visit the island often to see family and friends and I was there with locals. I hate to think that had I ordered in spanish they wouldn't have done that. read more
