The atmosphere is amazing -- such an amazing vibe, welcoming, and filled with positive energy. The staff is super friendly, professional, and always makes you feel at home. Everything is incredibly delicious, fresh, and clean. My personal favorites are the obvious winners: chicken wings, paella, ceviche, guacamole, tuna aguachile, chicken chuzo, and so much more... My son asks to go there at least once a week just for his favorite chicken chuzo with French fries! It's also super kid-friendly, which makes the experience even better. If you still haven't tried this place, you're seriously missing out

Let's break it down:…read moreDefinition: "Chuzo is a brochette or skewer of marinated, grilled meat with bold seasonings, classic sides, and the unmistakable flavor of Colombian street food." "Bar" well we all know what that means, "vamos, vamos, vamos!" Since my first visit last year, I was hungry for more deliciousness and decided to go with Yelpie friend, Sharon for brunch. Bar Chuzo has the restaurant and bar attachment which is where we dined. I happen to like the bar room for dining, it's charming and quieter for a Sunday brunch. Bar Chuzo offers really nice Brunch selections from ceviche, salchipapas, tuna, steak and apps from delicious fries, calamari, crab, plantain chips, croquettes and so much more. Here's what we ordered: Apps- Plantain chips( dinamita !) with a side of salsa verde. Yuca Croquettes with Yuca, Chihuahua cheese, and uchucuta sauce( green herb chile sauce with nuts) Dinamita number two! Two different brunch menus, Menu 1 offers apps, sides, entrees, cocktails and desserts. Menu 2: Bottomless Brunch for 90 minutes choice of Margaritas for $35 or Mimosas for $30. Mains: Crab cake Benedict consists of sunny side up egg, crab cake, potato cake, uchucuta hollandaise sauce, crostini and Chuzo salad. Sharon enjoyed it very much.Dinamita number three. Chicken Chuzo: Brasa marinated chicken skewers, Andes Ecuadorian corn, yuca croquettes. There are two skewers with three pieces of chicken on each, scrumptious, loved the taste of the chicken, the croquettes ( yuca again) nice accompaniment and the corn was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend! Dinamita number four. Cocktail: Mango peach sangria hit the spot! Service: Gabriella is a great, professional and accommodating server. Absolutely wonderful and knows her stuff! Dinamita number five. There are delicious desserts as well but too full. The portions are generous and this meal for me was lunch/dinner. The vibe here is chill with Latin music seeping into your veins. 'Mis felicitaciones al personal!' ( my compliments to the staff). Bottomless Brunch: Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am- 3pm Lunch Monday-Fri 12-4m Dinner: Mon-Thurs 4-19pm. They let us sit at the bar (which sat about a total of 10 people) while we waited. After about 15 minutes we were seated. Our waitress checked-in without making us feel rushed whatsoever. We started with some drinks, the pina colada margarita, and some queso and nachos. The drinks were delicious, and the appetizers hit the spot. For dinner, I ordered the quesadilla which was a bit smaller than I expected, but still delicious. Overall, the drinks and food tasted great. It felt a little pricy for the sizes, but it felt on par for a Brooklyn restaurant. Side note: There is limited street parking available. We spent at least 20 minutes circling before we finally found a spot! Keep in mind it was a Friday at 7pm.

However I usually forget that they also had food because there are so many options for Mexican food around here. This time around I decided to stop and try their food out. We started with the queso which was ok nothing special. For my main I ordered the mole enchiladas and I actually like it. My boyfriend order the steak but they were out of stock so he settle for the pernil. He claims to be a pernil connoisseur and wasn't happy with his pernil here. I had two margaritas one regular and one with mezcal and left feeling a little tipsy. I think this is just a place for drinks and snacks but the food was just ok for me.

I was passing through Sunset Park and hadn't eaten since breakfast. I saw an Ecuadorian spot near…read morethe train, but it had a B grade, so I passed. Defeated, that only made me want Ecuadorian food even more. I began a mission to get a plate of llapingachos (mashed potatoes laced with cheese and topped with peanut sauce, a typical dish in the Cuenca/Azogues area of Ecuador.) Yelp did not fail me. I walked south and found this place just after some scaffolding. I sat down and was promptly given a menu. Llapingachos are usually eaten with fritada (fried pork) or hornado (roast pork, like pernil.) Them I saw guatita (tripe with peanut sauce) and was almost lead astray and said to myself, No, you came here for llapingachos and llapingachos you shall have. The menu had pictures and I even saw a plate pairing them with steak and eggs. It was a hard decision, but I went with that. The waitress brought out green sauce, called ají in Colombia (not sure what it's called in Ecuador.) my husband ordered the bandeja paisa, a Colombian dish. I waited in trepidation, as I was starving at this point. The food came and I was unsure what to go for first. The meat, the llapingachos, the fried eggs, the salad, or the rice. I gave each a turn. What I love about Ecuadorian cooking, is that there's often a variety of foods on one plate. I hadn't had this plate in ages, so this was a real treat. I wasn't feeling 100% today, so the meal was hearty, yet had nothing to upset my stomach. It turned out to be just the right thing for me. My husband enjoyed his meal, though it was a riff on the traditional plate. They left out the area yet added a few pieces of pork on the bone. He seemed to enjoy his meal. I'd go back. In fact, a personal obligation will require me to be back in the neighborhood in a few days and now I have a little spot to go to that I can trust. I might just try the guatita this time.
