By far the worst apartment building they are horrible at returning tenants emails and helping their needs , I have mold in my master bedroom my 1 year old daughter got sick from it and they have yet responded to my email! HORRIBLE read more

I've been living at El Cordova Apartments in Carson for about almost 2 years now​ ​and I really got lucky with this complex. I've had no issues at all. This complex has exactly what I want and need. I'm literally across the street from Carson shopping center. I can grocery shop, buy shoes, and hit the gym within the same parking lot. Right near the 110 & 405 as well. What really shines to me about this complex is the staff. If I have any questions or request, Alex from the leasing office is so quick to respond. The maintenance team truly are hard workers and always have a smile on their face and willing to help even when busy. Thanks for making my apartment experience top notch!!! read more

I'm very happy with my experience. Jack and office staff (I'm terrible at spelling names) have been prompt and attentive to my needs. The overall move in process was smooth and Jack was transparent with me every step of the way. Jack and his staff did what they said they would do and have not disappointed me. I love the portal to submit maintenance requests and pay rent. The apartments are older and have more square footage. My patio is huge and I enjoy listening to the water fountains in the evenings. I have read some of the older and negative reviews and have not had any of those experiences. Improvements have been made and I find El Cordova to be a great place to live. read more

I have rented and lived in many places but this place is the best place I have ever lived. The manager is extremely professional. The community is clean and everything runs like clock work. All the maintenance people are very professional and response quick to maintenance request very quickly. I am very glad to be living here. In late 2018 I wrote a review about El Cordova being non-disabled friendly. I know it was received because Dwayne J responded to it. It is interesting that my comment disappeared. Part of doing good business means being honest and fair about the environment so that people can make informed choices about whether or not they want to live there. There is a step that leads to the pool and it doesn't have a hand rail. The steps are too close together for people with limited balance to regain what little balance they may have. Also, the closeness of the steps makes it impossible for a wheelchair to navigate because there isn't any space to create a ramp. The whole complex is supposed to be disabled friendly. I was glad when my family moved out. read more

We have had a terrible experience with El Cordova. We moved two months ago from the East Coast and foolishly signed a lease without visiting the location. We were charmed by Dinah in the office and she told us to look at the pictures online to see what our unit looked like. I called her a few months before our move and there was no vacancy. She assured me she was putting our name on a wait list yet when I called back a month later and spoke with someone else, suddenly there was now vacancy yet she had never called. She gave me a speech about how hot the demands were in Southern California for 2 bedrooms and really pressured us to make a move if we wanted an apartment in the facility. With a new baby and demanding job schedules, we went ahead and signed the lease without seeing the apartment even though my husband and I were both weary of how flaky the situation seemed. We had asked for actual pictures of the unit or to show us a map but she never had time to address our questions. We called for two solid weeks asking for our lease AFTER we gave $500 to hold our apartment. My husband and I had to alternate calling because it was such a time inconvenience. Right before the employee helping us went on vacation, my husband called to tell her, "We are moving in a month and really want to get everything signed and processed," and she assured him she'd send the lease over before she went on vacation. She never did. I had to call someone else the next day to get it and the map we had asked for for weeks from another agent. We asked several times what part of the development our unit was located in and if she could measure the washer and dryer hookups since we were moving 2700 miles and needed to know if they would fit. She kept telling us she would get back to us and we literally had to pester her for any information. I was told that our unit had a big protective wall blocking it from the nearby mall and that it was very separate from the parking lot. That couldn't be further from the truth. Instead, we had a dinky, short fence on top of the parking lot where you could see all passer bys, hear the traffic, and even see into the mall parking lot. When I first arrived to the apartment to see it myself, a group of guys were walking through the parking lot and could actually see me in the bathroom through the outside. I got to California first and immediately knew that I couldn't live in the apartment complex after seeing how much foot traffic was nearby and seeing how cooped up and dingy it all way. The apartment itself was filthy. I believe that they painted it and replaced things like door handles but no one cleaned it. The bathtub had hair that was painted over and the bathroom floor turned black when a little water dripped on it. We walked in socks on the floor which turned dark instantly. I told Rob, the Property Manager, about my wish to not move in and to cancel our lease immediately. He was gracious and gave me a nice little speech about how no one wanted us to be unhappy and we could go month to month on our lease until we wanted to move out. I emailed him the next day, relieved, just to get a response back that in order to "break our lease," we had to pay 2 full month's rent and forefeit both our pet and regular security deposit (which I later researched that keeping a pet deposit is illegal). He told us in person that at the end of the day it was all about business and that they were going to have to invest all the money into marketing the apartment. We never moved into the apartment and ended up being stuck giving them over $5000. The area is junky and congested for our needs and not in an area of Los Angeles I hope to go to again. But mostly, this was a situation that was mutually not good for either party and instead of being able to compromise and be somewhat compassionate, El Cordova took a lot of money. We could have paid a month's rent or something more reasonable to us for people who never moved into a unit. We called Dinah to tell her that we needed to collect the rest of our mail last weekend at 3:30 on a Saturday. My husband asked if she'd be there until 5 and she said she would. We drove in at 4:50 and she had already left. It took us an hour and a half to get there and she left early. No one answered the phone. We called the After Hours number and were told someone would call us back. No one did. When I emailed Dinah about it, she told me that they don't answer after hours. We waited at the facility until 6:45 to try to find a maintenance person. Our experiences with his establishment and its employees were horrible. read more

I have lived at El Cordova Apartments for six months. Was a little skeptical because I had not lived in an apartment or apartment complex since 1997. My unit is spacious compared to other apartments and complexes that I checked out. The only drawback for me is a small kitchen but I've made it work. The on-site management staff (Denise and Jack) are very professional and responsive to issues and quick to fix it if is in within their powers. The grounds are well maintained. Location is great there's the mall, couple of banks, post office and grocery store close by. I love how the complex is designed. I am looking forward to being a long-term tenant. read more

Run, don't stop, run from this place. There are so many problems here I can't even begin to list all of them. Tenants are being displaced constantly because of leaky roofs, plumbing problems, etc. Management will tell you that you can move back to your apartment in 4 - 5 days. Not true. More than likely, a month. Once you return, you will find there is still a problem because of the type of work done, very unprofessional. The tree cutters tore down fences and they have still not been replaced. The swimming pool is being resurfaced - maybe it will be ready by summer. I can't begin to tell you how horrible my experience has been here. My toilet overflowed 3 times since I moved in. I just moved in last year. Tenants are beginning to fight over the washers and dryers. There are only 2 laundry rooms and we have 300 apartments. The laundry hook-ups in some of the units are being removed as tenants move out. Everyone will be using the 2 laundry rooms. Three or Four washers or dryers are always out of order and it takes months to repair them. Be sure to always have on hand some kind of pesticide. I keep running out of Home Defense. We have an ant infestation problem here and management will not pay for an exterminator. I can't tell you how much I've spent on ant baits. There are also spiders, lots of spiders. Oh and be sure and look for all the rat traps around. We also have rats. I guess that's what they consider "Pet Friendly". All I can say is this place is like caught in a time warp.....It looked great on the internet (apartments.com). When I got there it was really old looking with wood covering many of the patios (construction). Hard wood floors that need to be re-done. Stucco on the stairs that was coming off and they were in bad shape. The management office tried to tell me that I HAD to apply online, then when I said I had never heard of just online only apps. for a place that big, she gave me a paper application. I tried to use my W-2 from last year, but it was refused, as they asked for 2-months of check stubs. The price was higher than on apartments.com and they said that the price for a 1-bedroom was $1500 for a 9-month lease and $1550 for a 12-month lease. Usually it is less for a longer lease. I looked on the website for more pics that were representative of the units but I got 2 large pics of the fountain. I should have saved that 2 hours of my time. It has the potential to be a great place, because of the close proximity to the mall and all, but it needs to be remodeled and the rent lowered a bit. I initially put a $200 holding deposit because I was told that my unit was going to be upgraded and that it wasn't in rental condition. When I thought of all of the other factors I decided to withdraw my application. I lost the $35 application fee, but that $35 saved me thousands in the end. Lastly, I have to wait 21-days to get my holding deposit fee back in the mail. Wow, it's not a move out deposit that is being returned, so it shouldn't take that long. Just my opinion. read more

So after every thing, my final bill was $575 on top of lease break fee and forfeiting my deposit. 1200 + 1820 + 575 = not worth it. I recommend living some place else. I still have not even mentioned the parking situation, vandalism on my car, Falcons trying to eat your small dog, dead rat under the one of the lounge furniture in the pool area, receiving the incorrect remote for the gate and having a hard time getting a replacement as well as never gotten my request granted to move to a different parking spot due to being next to a trash bin which caused damages on my car. read more

My husband and I moved from Seattle and were having a really difficult time getting information from afar. Eddie was great about answering all our questions and helping us through the move in process. We moved in back in June, and the apartment has been great the last few months! Our apartment is one that has already had the pipes changed and it looks like the floors are new too. I know that a lot of people have complained about the pipe repair work, so I would just ask if the apartment your interested in needs the renovations or not. So far, we've had one service request, and it was completed really quickly. One thing that has really impressed me has been their prompt response time. Whenever I email questions, they get back really quickly. Last week, part of the fence surrounding the complex was broken. Within a few hours, they had already fixed it! We've been living here for almost a year now and never had a problem. Very friendly staff and maintenance staff. Our only complain probably are people who sometimes take your parking space (but when we report it, security and even maintenance staff will take care of it), noise of the water when being used in the upper unit (we live in lower unit), and people who exits on the entrance gate (I almost got into accident several times because I was entering the entrance gate and someone was exiting in the same gate which there's a clear sign of "WRONG WAY" on the other car's side). read more

I can' believe it is almost 1 year since we moved in. We LOVE living in this complex. My apartment is fantastic, the grounds are beautiful and well kept. This is a gated secure community. We feel safe living here. The rent is reasonable with free cable. Cant wait for summer so we can enjoy the beautiful pool. Friendly neighbors, beautiful complex we cannot be happier. The newly renovated El Cordova Apartments is a great place to live. The natural landscaping creates a great environment for me to walk my dog daily. The fact that it is dog friendly was a plus for me choosing to live here. The Manager is always professional and responsive to any of my conerns and the management team are friendly and welcoming. Also, everyone from maintenance to security usually greets me with a wave or a smile in passing. I also, appreciate the monthly newsletter that all tenants recieve with apartment reminders and updates to holiday surprises...sometimes it's the little extra things that makes the difference. I have lived here almost a year and I am happy with the new renovations and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a safe place to live with lots of shopping and places to eat in walking distance to come live here. read more

Terrible place, only picked it for commute to work. We should have known within the first year that this place was no good. Within our first year, my car's catalytic converter was stolen while parked INSIDE one of the "gated parking lot". (For those that aren't aware, this is piece cost $1400) I went to speak to management about this, and they gave me a "We're sorry. That sucks. We don't have cameras in our parking lot, so we can't help you. Try calling the police." When I filed my police report, the officer said that other incidents have occurred in this complex and that I was out of luck because there were no security cameras. That should have been our excuse to get out ASAP. However, we stupidly stayed. Another incident was when a LARGE RAT crawled into our toilet through the plumbing. They said it was good that it crawled back out. We even suggested vent caps for the toilets (as a family friend is a plumber) and they said they would think about it. Note, they didn't consider it. Best to keep the toilet lid down. There's a smoke detector by the water heater in one of our bathroom areas. It went off early morning one day. Maintenance came and asked us why didn't we just take the battery out. He proceeded to do so and said it was fine to leave it that way. That doesn't seem incredibly safe to me. We enjoyed having the gym to use; however, the weights are constantly broken and remotes & TVs rarely work. You were lucky if you got a machine with a working TV and remote. By a certain point, it seemed that there was little to no upkeep for the gym. Things rarely were fixed and if so, it took months or years. Certain personnel in the office are constantly out with the "will be back" sign throughout the day. I walked over to see the sign, and went back 5 minutes after the time on the sign... only to see another set time for 30 minutes later. This has happened on NUMEROUS occasions. Good luck when you're trying to pick up anything when those certain personnel are in, better off just sitting there and waiting for whenever they feel like actually being there. During our time there, we had at least 9 or so different neighbors in just three other apartments nearby. We finally had enough and spent the $5000+ to break our lease and get out of there. As we were in the process of moving, they contacted us to see if we could leave earlier with no absolutely no benefit to us since we had already paid for that month's rent. Story at the end of the day, El Cordova doesn't appear to care about their tenants very much. It's very much a business with an incredibly high turnover rate. We wish anyone that wants to live here, good luck. read more

!!!!! EL CORDOVA RIPPED ME OFF 2 DAYS WORTH OF RENT !!!!! (this place deserves "zero" stars simply for being thieves) though there are plenty of other things to complain about. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else. I lived there for nearly 4 years from Sept 2014 through June 2018. At first it was OK but it quickly went downhill. They started marking the "mature trees" with orange Xs and left them like that for several months until they decided to tear them down during their "renovation project" which included: **Started charging for water/trash when it used to be included **Made it mandatory to get renter's insurance **Closure of the children's play area & tennis court for +2 years **Closure of the pool/jacuzzi for +6 months **Closure of the gym for +1 month **Re-location of residents for +7 weeks which was a nightmare in itself! **No assigned parking during construction which led to a huge nightmare and my car being hit out on the street! **They took away some people's washer/dryer hook-ups which added traffic to the laundry rooms that already had a problem since broken machines is a common theme there **All of the lower units' yards WERE CUT BY HALF THE SIZE! It didn't affect me because I was on a top floor, but that was terribly unfair! They claim the project cost would be nearly $5 million, but all they really did was exterior paint & minor landscaping which they were in desperate need of anyway. All of the things I listed are included in your rent, but residents were never compensated for the loss. I put up with all the above until... **I received a ridiculous rent increase by nearly 20% (that's right, 20%) My rent was $1918 for 2 bed 1 bath and they were asking for $2300, you do the math. They expected me to be OK with paying that much more for the same little apartment and all the BS I put up with over the years. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I found a beautiful 2 bed+2 bath condo adjacent to PV for less than what that dump wanted -best move I ever made! I now live in paradise :) I was gonna go away peacefully and put the bad experiences behind me until THEY RIPPED ME OFF $127.86!!!!!!!!! **When I received my move-out statement, they failed to credit me for 2 days worth of rent. That stupid girl in the office (Misty) documented that I moved out 2 days later than when I actually did. I complained to the manager who said he would not refund me because that is what was in the system. I contacted the property manager and she said the same thing. I even asked for them to pull the recording from the office camera as proof that I turned in my keys when I said I did. They seem to think that Misty is incapable of making a mistake. !!!!!!!!! Jack and April were extremely responsive and attentive to our needs/wants. We expressed exactly what we were looking for/expected in our future home and they were able to keep up with all of our expectations. The move in process went seamlessly as they made sure that they were with us every step of the way. We have been here a little over a month and it is everything and MORE. The amenities are amazing (the beautiful pool/grill area is our favorite) and it is quiet, which we appreciate since one of us works from home. I would highly recommend this property as management makes sure to tend to your needs in a timely manner. The maintenance team is also very prompt in responding to request, another PLUS! When I first moved into the apartments two years ago, the complex was perfect. Now with new management, everything is very fishy. The new management has done nothing but cheat us. The construction is a hassle but that's normal and expected for all construction. Ever since the new management has taken over, I felt I have not been able to trust the people in charge. I put down a 200$ deposit and my application for lease was nearly done, and then last second the manager tells me over the phone that no rooms are available? Worst experience ever. *There are RATS/MICE on the property!!!! They chewed through my car wires and when I told management they said we signed a lease that Cordova Apts aren't liable for damages. The worst part is management made it seems as if they were so bothered just to return my call about the situation. *My car was broken into while in the assigned parking space and I had property stolen off my balcony. All while there is 24hr security! **Useless security** *Each Apt has their own water heater that's only good for a 10 min shower. After that it goes cold! *Our dishwasher never worked properly after they fixed it twice and replaced it *Washer/Dryers are ALWAYS broken. Management closed all washers on property for a week to "replace" them and they only put in a couple new ones with most of the old washer and dryers still there. Still breaking. **Don't waste your money!** It cost almost 2K a month for a shitloads of inconveniences, no help from management, and overall a terrible experience! This place is a scam! BE AWARE!!!!! My husband and I applied back in September 2019. Bryan Mercado took our deposit of $500 without showing us the place that we were about to rent! (Red flag) They didn't want to show it to us because they said it needed to be painted and fixed, but they were definitely quick enough to take your deposit money and your application fee which was about $150 per person. (Red flag) Overall they stole over $800 from us and we never even got to see the place we were suppose to "rent" !!!! BIG MISTAKE for trusting these people and BIG SCAM!! We kept getting emails saying they still needed more information from us to completely approve us..... WTH!!!! (Red flag) So how was the $500 something deposit approved but not the application?!??? (Red flag) Oh and just so you know after a whole month of giving the deposit already and not yet moved in Bryan let's us know that the deposit is not refundable..... read more

I moved into this apartment in August of 2019. I have had a really great experience since I moved in! Each staff member that I have spoken with has been very kind and helpful. The apartments are very large and the grounds are nice to walk through. The pool, sauna, and gym are well maintained. My maintenance requests are processed within two days. I lived here for about a year from July 2016 to June 2017. When I Took a tour of the apartment the tourist I am not sure what her name is but she had a heavy accent was very nice. The one bedroom unit was very nice and open pretty renovated. The only thing I can say was wrong with that I had a big day at giant cock a roach and once I pointed it out to her she kicked it to the side which was very disgusting. If it wasn't for our urgent need to move we probably would not have moved in here because it was pretty expensive ($1570) . They said they were undergoing renovations so my fence to my balcony was pretty messed up. Even though they assured me it will be fixed during our time there it was not. I love the recreation center which consisted of the heated pool and Jacuzzi the gym and sauna. Overall my stay was pretty great I didn't have any complaints until the very end when they started working on one of the buildings. I would come home and the construction workers would be parked in my stall. And one of them actually hit my car I know because I had a red scratch on my bumper and there was a red truck there. And when I was getting in my car to leave he quickly left. But on a brighter note Eddie the property manager was a pretty cool guy he always spoke to my two year old son when we would go in and pay rent even if i seen him throughout the property. Alex was also very nice. I do think there are other apartment buildings that offer great location and are a little less expensive but over joyed my stay. read more

Honestly, do not live here. I had the WORST experience with the management company. We had no place to live because there was construction on our unit from 8-5 and they left huge holes which they didn't cover up. One of the holes, the one in the bedroom, was straight through to the next unit. They disconnected the toilet and broke the shower during construction and didn't fix it for a week. Not a single person who I have spoken to in this complex has had a good experience here, everyone I talk to it counting the days until they can move out. read more

This place is a perfect example of pathetic, Management is truly incompetent. They might as well be brand new at the positions since every time I had questions for office staff (Dinah) she never had an answer for my questions. The place is loud due to unattended pets at night and the workers use Gas Blower at 7AM to clean the walkways. When I approached the manager, about the early morning noise, he looked at me and suggested I buy a set of earplugs. I know that they already fired a few of the office staff but it appears that they simply replaced some useless employees for another set of less than competent group. If you think about moving here, just imagine used car sales approach but for apartments. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and imagine that they have a very busy schedule, but the reviews here tell me otherwise. Great place, just a few minor details. Rent is a little high (but all amenities are included for the most part), plumbing sucks, and the parking situation is horrible. Visitors have to park outside on the street or across the street at the mall. If someone comes and visits we have to go all the way outside and unlock it for the visitors. Kind of an inconvenience, but safe at the same time. They should find a way where the visitor can call us to open the button through the phone. Management and staff are great though! read more

If I could give 5 negative stars i would. If you love to be racially discriminated please feel free to move into El Cordova Fountain Apartments. I advise anybody considering to move here please do not. It is one of the worst apartment units I have ever lived in. To the shoddy Construction and the horrible front office staff I guarantee you will be utterly dissapointed. Roaches and bugs a guarantee to keep you company at night. Which of course will not be mentioned during the initial walk thru. They will be kind when they take your money but as soon as you move in calls will go unanswered and messages not returned. read more

I had to pay above $2000 to extend my lease in my current apartment only because It took 3 weeks for them to call me back regarding my lease. They don't care which city you are moving from and how your time is important for you. They will call you back only If you call them for a 100 times. They never show you the exact unit! So you would not know how it looks like. The units don't have refrigerator and so on... I prefer to drive for 20 minuets to my work than living here. My advice: Stay away! read more

We have been here for almost a year and it has been a pleasant experience. The community is always clean and well taken care of. The office is very professional! Dwayne, Nita, and Misty have been so wonderful and answer any questions or address any problems we had. Also, maintenance is rather quick! We had a leaky floorboard in the bathroom and maintenance came within two hours! I really feel comfortable and safe living here, especially because we have Security patrolling the grounds at night.
