The actual room here is great--clean, comfortable, and a perfectly fine space to stay in. However, the hotel's infrastructure and restrictive policies desperately need a modern update. Here is what needs to be fixed: The TV & Cable System: The hotel is surprisingly still using an old analog cable system instead of modern digital TV, which severely degrades the picture quality. Because of this, they don't even get standard local broadcast channels like ABC. It is a huge letdown when you want to watch a major event--like Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday night--and you are completely out of luck. The Wi-Fi Network: The current network list is cluttered and confusing (showing EC WiFi, EC Secure, EC Voice, etc.), and the speeds are incredibly slow at around 24.1 Mbps download. They need to simplify this into just one clear network for guests and one for staff. The Restaurant Voucher System: If you are here with a larger group, the breakfast voucher system is highly restrictive. It only covers one specific meal item (like pancakes). If you want a side of eggs or anything extra, like a side of cucumber, you have to pay out of pocket for it. The Elevators: The building has three elevators total, but only two of them are actually running, creating a regular bottleneck for guests trying to get up to their rooms. If they modernized the Wi-Fi and TV systems and fixed the third elevator, this would be a top-tier place to stay because the rooms themselves are very nice. With so many places to stay in the Wildwoods, I'll likely try other options before returning to El Coronado, which is a disappointment, since I was genuinely looking forward to staying here again after visiting years ago with my family as a kid. First, a few areas that need improvement: - Air Conditioning: We had to set the thermostat to 60°F just to get it to kick on, and even then the room never reached that temperature. While we weren't aiming for an ice box, it would be nice if the thermostat worked reliably and reflected the actual room temperature. - Pull-Out Bed: The mattress in the living room's pull-out sofa is uncomfortable, with a bar underneath that makes sleeping difficult. To be fair, this issue isn't unique to this hotel. - Patio Furniture: The plastic outdoor chairs are quite uncomfortable and could benefit from an upgrade. A quick clean between guest visits wouldn't hurt either. One of our chairs was pretty dirty or old. - Parking: This was by far our biggest frustration. We couldn't access the covered parking garage with our sports car due to a steep decline, and designated surface spots were consistently unavailable. We often had to circle side streets looking for free parking. Even when we found a spot on site, spaces were extremely tight, and we were constantly worried about dings. It was also frustrating to commonly see guests taking up two spots with no intervention from hotel staff. Now, on to the positives: - The hotel was clean enough with a nicely upgraded kitchenette (though a Keurig would be a welcome touch) and a decent shower. - Beds were fine, but the pillows could stand to be replaced. - The oceanfront views are gorgeous. - The onsite restaurant is charming and the food is quite good with friendly staff. - The pool is good and features a cute little bridge. Additionally, there's a hot tub and rentable cabanas. - The hotel provides entertainment options like movie nights and music on the pool deck and there's even an arcade game room on the second floor. All things considered, I'd rate the stay at 3.5 stars if that were an option. It just doesn't quite reach four. The pool and location were great. Easy walk to beach and the pool was clean and heated. The room was very average and needed updated and cleaned . The bathroom sink was broken and ran water straight to the floor. Dirt on the floor and grime behind the toilet. No hairdryers in the whole hotel, so I had to go and buy one. The staff was average. They also have grills in pool area if you feel like grilling. Very young and super friendly front desk staff. We had breakfast at their restaurant and food was good! What a disappointment! This is a typical beach hotel: nothing spectacular by any stretch of the imagination. Very very disappointing that there is no heat in the guest rooms. It is warmer outside (60) than inside. They never advertised this fact. No, I didn't ask, but why would I even think to do so? I booked a room over the phone and told the girl that I had 6 people, she recommended a room with two queen beds and a pull out bed, so the room sleeps 6 people total. I got an email with the invoice with a total price of $1,554 for three nights, which is expensive but it's Fourth of July weekend. Then when I checked in, they charged my card an extra $238 for a total of $1,837 for the room. I asked the man at the front desk why I was being charged extra, and he said the "base occupancy" is 2 people per room, and any additional person is $20 per person per day. I find these hidden fees ridiculous because in my original invoice when I booked it a month ago did not say anything about this. Why would the "base occupancy" for a room with 2 queen beds and a pull out bed be 2 people? I don't know any other hotels that charge per person. If anyone knew about the fee ahead of time, they could easily lie and say they only had 2 people. It's sleazy and cheap and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Jersey shore. The hotel was extremely dirty. Looks like the bathroom wasn't even clean. There was beer left in my fridge. My sheet was dirty. I let the front desk know and they told me I can move to another room but there would be an upcharge. When I called to make the reservation I was assured that I would have a room overlooking the pool and the ocean. The room was overlooking the parking lot. The pool was disgusting. It needed to be cleaned better. There were bubbles and sludge on the top of the water. My family got out and never went back in. We stayed at El Coronado Resort over Memorial Day weekend. With it being our family's first time at the shore, we were pleasantly pleased with the place. Although the parking lots/spaces are small, we were at a good location that was not crowded and a good driving distance to the center and amusement park area of the boardwalk. The pool looked like a nice place to hangout with lots of guests being there that last time we went. The resort itself was actually nice and clean, due to the recent renovations they had. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a great view of the beach and of the town. We were able to walk to a local eatery that took us a nice 15 minutes. read more

We stayed four nights in June 2023 and enjoyed it. The room was an efficiency with a direct view of the ocean as well as the really nice pool area. Very friendly place and just steps to the beach. While it was an older room, it was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff was friendly and helpful. The only minor suggestion would be for the place to find a better spot for the coffee pot so the cord would reach an outlet rather than guests putting it beside the sink. Breakfast at resort restaurant was very good with friendly wait staff! We are already planning our next stay there and plan on trying the 1 BR suite which we checked out while there! Rude lying thieving crooks this is how I would describe Jermaine (the manager) and his crew of bandit's. They lied to us about the room being beach front. The management team perpetuates this practice by grooming their employees to blatantly lie to their perspective customers to get them into rooms they would not rent. False advertisement. It's all about the money. Ethics has gone out the window with this hotel management team. We spend all week looking for a hotel with a beach front view of the ocean. The Coronado promised the room we booked was beach front. I asked over and over before I booked it, was it beach front? They said yes. We arrive at the hotel on the 23rd of 2022. We asked to look at the room. They said you we have to check in 1st. Being naive we did. We check in and look at the room. We don't like it. It was not the view promised. We ask to check out they said we could not because you will lose all your money for the whole stay. I said if I didn't check in I would have only been responsible for the night. She said we would not have let you see the room if you did not check in. Ruth knew if she checked me in that she would be able to use this as leverage. I did not want to check in until I saw the room but she would not let me till I checked in. I speak with the manager Jermaine and ask to check out. They give me a hard time and make me wait. I had to beg for a check out page. Before I left the hotel they charged me 1062.82. for a room I did not stay in. I consider this as unethical practices. So buyer be aware don't check in until you see the product, the room. It's your right to see the room before you check in. Any decent ethical hotel that stands behind what they promote without anything to hide will let you see the room 1st. I am now at a different hotel with a beach front view of the ocean sitting on its balcony for less money then the Coronado was charging. The pool is beautiful but the day we decided to go in someone pooped and ruined that pool day for everyone. The pool staff and maintenance team came as soon as they were notified of the issue and took action. Management as well took action but it's unfortunate that grown people don't know better. One of the worst hotels I ever stayed at.Four of us went for a long Labor Day weekend,we were all fooled by the website. The hotel obviously has never been updated ,all the seals in the windows are broken so they all look stained.It had a microwave from the80s, a very old coffee pot with no coffee or cups. The beach side cafe was dingy and old, and the food was awful and the service was terrible.For a non smoking hotel the hallway always stunk of pot. They gave us a pool view. It was so loud you could not sit on your balcony and enjoy and relax. Needless to say, none of us would return and I would suggest looking Elsewhere. read more

Absolutely the worst coffee and food I've ever had in a restaurant/cafe/cafeteria etc. Coffee was cold, asked for fresh cup/pot thinking maybe it was just not fresh and was given a new pot for the table and the young man let me know that "when you put milk in your coffee it will make it cold"! REALLY????!!! No, when you serve sold coffee it will be cold. The corned beef has was hard on one side, like a pancake on my plate ...Absolutely disgusting. Whole wheat toast so cold the butter didn't melt on it. The sausage "patty" was approx 1/4 inch thick... One year ago I won a 5 day stay on Twitter. We booked and the day before our trip they called and profusely apologized that they had to close for the season because their staff refused to come to work due to Covid.  Very understandable and unfortunate. The kind woman ensured I had a note on the account and could book the following year. Well I just called to book and the manager proceeds to tell me there is no record of this and they won't honor it. He then proceeds to aggressively ask me why I didn't follow up for a year..... We booked our room and cabana for July fourth week, we switched to this hotel because it has bbq grills and because of the small children we travel with we don't go to restaurants..well huge mistake!!! We check in three rooms we requested same floor NOPE we are are all on different floors at opposite ends of hotel! We also requested the room on 3rd floor because we needed a tub (not all rooms have a tub) we have 2 babies it's a must! NO TUB !!We booked ocean front 2 bedroom! One of the bedrooms is so small you can barely get a suitcase in and a pack and play for the baby oh a no tv in that bedroom! Went to the front desk to speak with manager who is always in a meeting LOL he's actually hiding from complaining guests! He says they don't guarantee rooms but over the phone they did!! We also booked a cabana for 5 days, we were staying for 7 days but we didn't need the cabana first day since you can't check in until after 3 and we didn't need it check out day...I have the email that says we have it for 5 days and they screwed that up and rented our last day to someone else,, customer service is horrible I'm in a room that sleeps 6 with 2 blankets no extra pillows for pull out sofa, I called front desk for a blanket they say come get it we don't deliver so one of us goes down and we don't get a blanket we get sheets WTF..and they actually note your account that they gave you sheets! I'm so disgusted by this place never again will we come here or recommend, Everyone by the pool was complaining and won't be returning! This place is filthy. I don't even know where to begin. You certainly don't get what you pay for. For just another $200, we could have stayed at The Grand in Diamond Beach. The maids only empty the trash cans, that's it! They don't bring clean linens, they don't replace tissues/toilet paper, they don't vacuum the carpets and they don't make the beds. They still ask for tips, though! If you want a hair dryer here, you have to ask for it at the front desk. They have a game room but none of the games work. They will just eat your quarters There are grill tools you can borrow at the front desk but they don't even check to make sure the previous guest washed them. So nasty! Never again!!! read more

We love the place until this year 2021 DO NOT STAY. I have been coming here for over 25 years. The manager Jermaine worst hotel manager, unprofessional and rude. Instead of being helpful, and compassionate. The room I reserved was a pool/beach view. The room I was offered was with the parking lot view, and he claimed that it was a poolside beach view. I left the room and stood in another room with my family. It was supposed to have been the best room in the facilities. Three bedrooms 3 baths kitchen and living room. 1st it wasn't ready when it was supposed to be and instead of offering us a meal or drink while we waited, he suggested we look for accommodations elsewhere after traveling 6 hours and waiting 4.5 hours to get into our room. The television in the living room didn't work, the kitchen smelled like vinegar the bathrooms dirty, the towels were worn and ripped while drying yourself off. We had to call downstairs to get a blanket and they were disgusting. Virtually no cooking utensils, making a basic task difficult. No sponge to clean any dishes. There were suppose to be activities and poolside music and there was nothing but dead bugs by the pool. I could go on but I'm not going to waste any more time. Checked in last night for a very quick family trip to Wildwood. Plenty of parking, free WiFi, A/C in room works great. Close walk down to the beach do a huge plus. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is that we are here with my mother who suffers from MS and has very tough time walking and mostly uses a walker or wheelchair. Guess what obstacle she needs to overcome to get to the pool, STEPS!!! No ramp!!! How in this day and age can you get away with not being accessible for handicapped patrons. We have been coming to this hotel every summer after being kicked out of the Reges Oceanfront Resort (I have a review written on that too.) It's honestly a very average jersey shore hotel. Definitely better than the trashy motels next to it but not the greatest. It is somewhat outdated but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. There are lots of areas they are renovating to try and make it look better so at least they're giving it effort. I found the structure of the hotel to be rather weird. The hotel lobby is randomly in this long hallway as well as the cafe and arcade. Arcade is trashy but the Cafe is very nice! It was recently changed to new owners who are just as nice as the old ones. However we almost secretly got charged a tip thankfully I checked the total. They said it was because the last order was to someone delivering it to there pool so its automatic. Sounded like a lame excuse to me but it was whatever. Speaking of the pool its nice but again weird. Shaped like an '8' and has a bridge in the middle. The chair given are very cheap quality and plastic where as the cabanas for $40 are high quality wood The balconies are very small. They are weirdly cornered shaped however offer nice views of poolside and beach. There are limited full beach views that cost very extra. Food is good and not to expensive. Parking is awful. Very tight spaces and unorganized space. Definitely in need of fixing. However I feel like the good outweigh the bad. Unless your throughly examining the resort Its relatively enjoyable. Once its done renovating it should be better. But for now its an average hotel. Wont be returning unfortunately as we have found a new better hotel opening up anyways. read more

Pro: Right On The Beach, 2 minute walk to the water Cons: Not the best bang for your buck. Most of the 'activities' will interest those with kids under 10. For the most part the room quality was good until the deck, where prices of the deck above have started crumbling and falling onto the deck below (see photos). Next up, service. Every request I had was met with a no. 1. The hot tub and pool area closes at 9pm, so no late night dips in the hot tub to relax after a long day. 2. Even if you are dripping wet after the pool or hot tub, the staff will make you either walk back to your room to get a towel or all the way though the 'resort', trailing water as you go, back to the front desk to get a 'towel card' which no one mentioned I would need at check in. Even after showing my identifying wrist band I was flat out denied a towel. Who does that? Summary: For the amount of money one spends here I would expect a higher level and quality of daily activities for all ages and more relaxed service. read more

Horrible and worst stay ever in the 36yrs I've been staying in wildwood. Mold everywhere. A/C doesn't work. Sliding doors don't open. Elevators were out of service. The carpet was never cleaned. My 2yr old had no shoes on playing and her knees and feet were dirty. The place refused to issue a refund. See pictures, the management and maintenance claims it's not mold. If I could give it zero stars I would along with Jermaine the "manager" which in this case is a guy they pay .50 cents more an hour and gave him a name tag and he thinks he is a god. They are so understaffed that it took 2 weeks to cancel the room! We cancelled a month ahead of time and the hotel is already sold out for the weekend we were going. They have a policy that a refund is "subject" to a 25% loss of your deposit. Again "subject" which legally means they can't profit if they can rent the room. Well not only did they, they did it at full price (we were getting a discount as being part of a team) so they truly profited off if this. When asking for his managers name, Jermaine stated "boss" and refused to give the GM of the hotels name! Will definitely be turning them into the BBB as well!!! read more

We have stayed at this hotel many times before and it's always been a very pleasant. Stay .. Its on the beach & the pool is ok , but this very last last stay last week was not so great. The bathroom is unsafe , there's no safety bar , I almost had a bad accident when i slipped luckily I was able to grab to shower door to break my fall , the shower head is awful and they now charge shaded areas by the pool , two chairs $40 plus tax, one table with chairs a whopping $75 plus tax. This is absolutely ridiculous , to charge people to sit in the shade ..in addition to the above the cleaning service was awful. They didn't clean the room or vacuum didn't leave shampoos or paper or soap they only came to pulled up the sheet and fluff the pillows... we usually book a trip every year , my next trip I will be shopping for a new place ... very disappointed ...! read more

This is the 6th straight year we have stayed here, with two kids and five adults, but definitely the LAST year. The suite we paid for didn't have working AC and it was in the upper 90s the first two days. They sent up a maintenance person who said it wasn't an urgent need despite the high heat and the fact that we have a 5 month old baby. He promised to send someone up first thing in the morning but of course didn't, and it wasn't until we called down again mid afternoon next day that they finally came up. They finally agreed the AC wasn't working and agreed to move us two floors up, but made us move out one day before the end of our stay and switch rooms again, this time to a smaller room. The restaurant-- always pricey but usually pretty good-- had terrible food this year, especially the inedible eggs. The netting that used to keep the birds away in the outside seating area is now gone, so my father in law had a bird land on his shoulder and take a piece of bacon right out of his hand. Overall the biggest issues were the little things that this place used to have and are now gone: Free popcorn in the lobby for kids, movies by the pool for kids, taffy in the rooms, even having a designated towel person by the pool instead of now making people go to the front desk. Even last year when we had to move rooms they sent people up to help us, but not this year. The housekeeping staff also seemed very understaffed and overwhelmed. The front desk people were nice enough but clearly couldn't really help-- and there was no manager in sight to address any of our concerns during our entire stay. From what we learned the hotel is under new management-- the previous manager Bruce retired-- and it seems that all of those nice things I listed above have been cut out because they don't help the bottom line. While this may look like the right move on paper-- especially to someone with a degree but limited real customer service experience-- is that families like us are now so turned off that we will be spending our future vacations at a different hotel in Wildwood. To start I absolutely love this hotel. It is perfect summer getaway for a family with kids! We found ourselves here because we had booked an animal encounter at the Cape May County Zoo, which I also highly recommend, and living about three hours away from Cape May didn't want to have to wake up super early to make it to the zoo on time! We own a timeshare in Maui with Westin but because of Covid, nothing was available. This was the most reasonable resort I could find that was on the beach and had a pool and a Jacuzzi. When we showed up at the resort, The lady behind the desk (Morgan) was a complete delight! We chit chatted while I was checking in and she gave me the digs on all of the fun places to go and great restaurants to eat at! When we got to our room it was lovely and while I only paid for two queen size beds I also got a full pull out couch for free! The mattresses on all of them were firm and the sheets we're 100% cotton! There was a full kitchen including a refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. The pool and Jacuzzi were a gorgeous crystal blue and the beach was right next to the hotel. In the evening I realized we didn't have anything to eat or drink in the morning and Morgan offered to open up the gift shop so that I could get a few refreshments even though it was closed and she was ready to get off of her shift! We only came for one night and I can stay at other higher end places for free but we will most definitely be coming back to this hotel next summer for a week!!! I can't wait! read more

Fiancé and I booked Memorial Day weekend here and took our 1 year old son with us. It's a great place right on the beach with easy beach access. Plenty of parking, and the 2 bedroom suite with the kitchenette was perfect. I was not expecting pots and pans, plates, cups, silverware and a legit fridge to be in the room. The fridge definitely came in clutch. The staff was very courteous as well. The only thing I'd suggest is to have a walkway going from the pool to the one side street. We found it difficult having to try to squeeze in between two cars just to get to the sidewalk. I'd definitely look into booking here again in the future. read more

Called for some additional information that was not on the website regarding an upcoming vacation I was hoping to book. I changed my mind after speaking with someone there. Before stepping foot in the hotel, I got such a poor vibe from their staff manning the phones and answering guests' questions. They were completely disinterested in providing the kind of hospitality that would attract someone to their hotel. Additionally, I was so disappointed to read so many bad reviews. This was my family's go-to hotel for about 10 years in the late 90's - early 2000's. Management was exceptional back then. The hotel was very well-run and immaculate. It has apparently changed hands since then, and between my disappointing contact and the numerous poor reviews, it appears as if it is no longer a desirable place to vacation. read more

Awful! the room was disgusting. Dirty air vents, hair on bathroom floor. Grime on everything, food behind couch. For the price paid for 3 nights, I expected much nicer. Elevators extremally old and kind of scared that they would get stuck, as 2 of the 3 would get stuck on certain floors. I had a family of 5 and the dirty pull out couch was ridiculously uncomfortable. I didn't even want my children sitting on the floor. Every time I walked by front desk, it appeared someone was complaining about something so, I didn't even bother. I would NEVER stay here again. This is my first bad review, ever. I will say the people at the café were very nice. However, you must have cash for tip which I usually don't carry. The pool was okay to but they don't give any towels. I drove home a night early, as I could not bring myself to sleep in this room one more night! I have photos of gross room but don't know how to add to review. read more

DO NOT stay at this place. The cleaning crew is short staffed ao your room doesnt get cleaned. Beds never made towels never changed. mold on the ceilings. Garbage never emptied. Could not regulate the AC so we were freezing at night and couldnt do anything. The stove top was filthy . Bathtubs were dirty. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Was so disappointed in this resort. It is not a resort at all. i cant think of ine thing that was good. Total waste of money for what they charge. read more
