This place is OK. The food is fresh but kind of bland. I went with my dad and we ordered at the same time. His food came out 15 minutes before mine. I am always amazed that anyone served food this way. The place isn't dirty but it is in need of update so it looks dirty. It is a family owned place supporting 3 owners so it probably doesn't leave a lot of profit for investing in the business. Let me start by saying I believe the staff and regular customers are why this establishment is still open. The staff was prompt and polite. The atmosphere was void of customers and gloomy. The food came to our table with very little wait. I believe I understand why. It lacked any sign of life. The corn shells were dry. The carne asada was more like tiny pieces of meat that you find in low-grade dog food. It was tough, dry, and lacked flavor. The tiny saucer of picowasnt even enough to "juice" it up. I had to wash it down with water to get it to go down after chewing it 100 times( unfortunately, this is not an exaggeration). I only ate the meat of one of the tacos with the pico. I opted to take home the rest to the dog. I wish I had something better to report. However, I wish we had decided to go for Chinese instead. read more

Ate there for dinner on 06/11/24, the service was not great. There were three of us and we ordered steak tacos and fish tacos. The steak tacos were ok but the fish tacos were not good at all. The fish was burnt and dry (like jerky). We sat there for a while waiting on the bill. Probably will not go back. The atmosphere is very depressing also. read more

We had a long day on the road and after we checked into our hotel, they highly recommended El Dorado for a good dinner. What a pleasant restaurant; very clean looking and very well decorated in a Mexican decor. The waitress came immediately and brought chips and two kinds of salsa. I ordered the steak fajita - absolutely excellent. My husband ordered the Chimi; he thought it was excellent also. The staff was all very nice to us and very attentive. We were thrilled to have such a good meal and service after traveling all day. Our only regret is that we couldn't finish our meal there was so much and we were to full to order dessert. This was a very good experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves Mexican food. We will go back, when we are in the area which is twice a year. Yummy read more

I may be wrong, but it appears it is family run. The younger waitress was very nice. The food is reasonably priced, but the decor looks like something from a 1970's function hall. It is dated, and worn. Callahan does not have a lot of options for sit down non-chain restaurants, which are BADLY needed. The food is just ok. Simple, bordering on bland. I believe they get business just because of the short list of options in town. My last visit, we were "greeted" by an older woman, who seemed irritated that there were customers. She wouldn't speak, she showed her annoyance to us coming in by nodding to a table for us to sit at that wasn't very clean. When she finally talked it was the same annoyance in barking: "drinks?" This is the best Mexican I've had & I've eaten at many in Florida & other states. It's not formal dining but the food & service is great! Their Sunday buffet is super, around $10. I've heard the Mexican cheesecake is unreal but they weren't able to get all their ingredients during the quarantine period. Will be back when it's offered again! I had to change my review. I really enjoy the El Dorado fajitas! I get it every time. I'm giving this a 3 star because of the customer service. I usually order to-go but decided to sit down with my friend for dinner. We were the only ones and saw someone vacuuming. We thought they closed but they still had a whole hour before closing. The lady vacuuming did an eye roll like we were such an inconvenience. So we sat down and the waitress basically slammed the menus down. I've heard they are usually like that but I won't accept that. Fancy food? Absolutely not. But the reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because my husband and I just got completely stuffed for $15 and the food was pretty good!! I would say pretty comparable to LaNop. El Dorado has a small, cozy atmosphere. The employees seem to have casual conversations with regular customers, which I think is a nice small town feel. Our meals were both just over $6 each, we got the combination meals. Had this place been really expensive, it would've gotten less stars. The tilapia was deep fried and whole on the soft taco, with shredded dry cabbage. Difficult to eat and almost no flavor. It I wanted fried fish, I'd go next door to Juniors Seafood. My wife had a cheese quesadilla and it was also bland. The salsa was good but they were very skimpy on the chips and did not offer a refill. Should have gone with my gut when we walked in on a Friday night and the place was almost empty. The hostess asked "booth or table" from behind the cash register and then said go ahead. The workers children were in the restaurant unattended running down the aisles and coming in and out of the kitchen. I love children...but there is a time and a place and workplace isn't one of them.. The chip basket was half full and the two orders of cheese dip I ordered for the family was so watered down it would drain off the chips. Will say that the burritos the kids had were good....but my taco salad was like soup "no flavor and extremely watery". Needless to say.....please skip this place and go elsewhere.
