Been here a few times the food is okay. The last time I went here with my husband the food was as always just ok but woman serving the food is the reason we will never be back. We ordered one meal rice w. Beans and goat the rice with beans for me and I asked her to put a spoon of the beef sauce on my plate. When it came to check out she charged us for three meals and 9$ for a spoon of beef sauce. When we asked her why she replied because that's how it is and she wouldn't correct it. We paid the bill and left because she was being aggressive and we didn't want to cause a scene. Like I said we had been there before and the food is never more than 20$ we always get the same thing maybe with a potato ball or empanada. This place is ran extremely unprofessional. I placed a large food order for a private event. When the food arrived the large rice and peas came soaking wet with water inside the tray. I called numerous times and was given a run around. When the manager contacted me hours later and the party was completely over they offered me a credit. When I attempted to use the credit they claimed nothing was in the system regarding credit. But they were able to see I spent $450 on a food order and nothing could have been done. I have ordered numerous times and feel they could have made the proper calls to attend to this issue. I do not recommend them for large food orders as you never know what you will get. Finally dealing with a business that does not know how to deal with issues when they arise is not a place I would ever want to deal with or would ever recommend to anyone. read more

Although the food was good, I gave them only one star because of their dishonest practice of automatically adding a 15% "service charge" to the bill when it was only two of us that ate there. We order from here quite often and have been customers for quite a few years. We've never had a problem prior to last winter, but we love the food so much we've always let it slide and never went public with any issues. Well, tonight was the last straw. We ordered our usual family meal and always an extra side of beans (our son's love that dish), but for the 4th time in 2 months they forgot the extra beans. I'd had enough of letting it go and called the restaurant. I was as polite and appreciative as can be imagined when explaining what happened and was rewarded by being passed to 3 different people at the restaurant. The last lady said I never paid for an extra side (receipt pricing otherwise in hand) and they would not send the item regardless of what our receipt said and that was that. Half a second later, she hung up on me. First, I didn't deserve for you, or anyone at that place to hang up on me like that. You have no respect, and the recent poor service, and your actions tonight have proved that. Second, it's a $4 container of beans. First time ordering here and last time for sure. I got the family combo of roasted chicken, rice, sweet plantains, and beans. The chicken was so dry I felt like I was eating rubber. Drenching the chicken in spicy sauce (which tasted like frank's red hot) did not even save it. There were chunky pieces of rice all over and it was only not bad with the beans poured over it. The only thing that wasn't so bad was the sweet plantains. Not sure if it wasn't as bad compared to the rest of the food or was it actually not that bad. P.S. I am all for supporting small local businesses, but this one isn't it!!! I get off work and walk in at 5:45pm on a Wednesday on the hottest days of the summer. It's my first time so I take a look around at the setting and menu before making my selection. Only a snack is what I wanted, just something to try to let me know if I should come back, so obviously I ordered an empanada for $1.75. The younger lady took my order. The older lady rang me up, but she said that it was $10 minimum for card. I took a look around and it was just the delivery boy and absolutely nobody else in the restaurant. I gave her a laugh and said I don't have my wallet on me and asked nicely if it's possible to just let me pay. She doubled down and said, no, $10 minimum for card, with a stern look, and no smile. When eating in and you go to pay with a credit card BEWARE. Besides you leaving a tip, they also charge you service fee AND credit card fee. We found this out when my husband paid with a credit card and left the tip on the card. On the drive home I looked at the receipt and they did it to us and doing it to everyone using their cards. No sign near the register stating they are charging an additional service charge fee. Then why leave a tip? Also their food is a hit or miss sometimes. You might get lucky with juicy meat. read more

Really disappointed with service from this establishment. I am a long time customer and I always place an order for a family combo with extra beans. I even add a friendly note to remind staff to include the extra beans that I pay for extra because my family loves their recipe and they often forget. Ofcourse, they forgot to include the beans (again) and when I tried to rectify the order they told me they would not make good on the order even though I offered to pay in cash (I ordered via grubhub which only offered the option of refund). At first, they claimed I didn't even place the order correctly and when I asked them to review the order prior to Grubhub's involement, even though I was right, it did not matter. I ordered pigs feet with yuca and received salty pigs feet with arroz con guandules. Play it safe and order their salads, rotisserie chicken, or fried food. The quality and taste of their food is a hit or miss. Some days grainy hard rice, salty meats or overcooked dry, chewy meats. Had our meal delivered and it was awesome. This is homemade, handmade south of the border goodness. Tastes like Tia and Tio spent all day cooking for us. The rice was soft and pillowy. The roasted chicken was juicy and full of flavor. The plantains we're the best we had in years. Sweet and soft and smokey. The beans! The sauce was the best...very tasty. Seasoning wins here. My husband and I have no complaints about the food, I usually order the Pernil with yellow rice and gandules (pigeon peas) while my husband orders Beef stew with white rice and black beans. Normally this is on my list of favorites to order from. The food is always delicious, and the service is always wonderful. I decided to order in tonight, and it took over an hour for my food to come. Close to an hour and a half.When it got here, the delivery guy called me from the car, and I had to go meet him in the street. (NO, I don't live in any apartments, either.) The food was sub-par this evening. My husband and son both ordered the Cubano sandwich. They were not happy at all. The sandwiches were slathered in yellow mustard. They aren't normally. I took a bite, and large chunk of fat fell out of the sandwich. I ordered a salad; lettuce, tomato and avocado. The lettuce was turning brown. No dressing, not even on the side. Oh my god, everything I've tried from here has been delicious. I seriously ordered the Oxtail stew over yellow rice for takeout 3x in my first week since discovering them. Mid-Island Staten Island has not seen too much ethnic food, to get real Spanish food, not Mexican, is an absolute treat. The beef patties are fried and delicious. The beef stew was extremely flavorful and the vegetable chunks were big and I was very satisfied but the meat was a bit tough. I know this can be a problem with stew though. The plantains were delicious! Perfectly baked. The oxtail stew stole the show for me though!! Just yesterday I was recommending El Dorado to my sister as we drove by. Not even 24 hours later I have no intention of every spending another dime here. Was in the neighborhood so I decided to stop and grab something for dinner. The tension between a couple of the staff members was pretty high. Stood at the counter for a bit and no one ever asked me what I wanted so I just said what I wanted and finally they decided to serve me. Unfortunately I had to repeat 3x each part of my order. As the girl/woman behind the counter was fixing my food, her and the deliver guy started arguing, even though there were customers there. They were both pretty nasty to each other, and the argument was them putting down each other's jobs and future career choices. So they continue arguing while I'm waiting for her to cut my pork skin and ring me up so that I can continue on my way. I would like to mention that I was very tired because I had just spent a day volunteering and rebuilding houses nearby, I was not in the mood for their nonsense. I spoke up and said "Can I please get my food?" Well she then says with an extremely nasty attitude "Oh, so now she wants to start too? Can I cut it up?" At that point I said "Don't bother you can keep it" and walked out the store. I have been a frequent delivery customer every since they opened and started delivery service. And even if I had never stepped foot inside before that is NOT the way you behave in front of customers and you do not give your customer's attitude just because you don't like a co-worker. And it's really too bad because the food is really good. And I went here today and planned to continue going there even though just a week ago I waited 2 hours for a delivery order and then part of it was missing!
